@bolded. That's the reason bro, zidane had the opportunity to send the team into CDR glory but he gambled. We had a 1-0 led against leganes. Yet he decided to start the second leg without our main stars .same thing he did last season. We could have won the treble last season if only he took CDR serious .
I don't think he'd take it serious next year either. That man can be stubborn. If at the prospect of going potentially trophyless, he gambled this year; what will he do next year when we'd be gunning for our 9th consecutive UCL SF and a La Liga #1 finish.

Although the players don't help matters.

in his post match conference, zizou said he has no regret rotating the squad. I personally like the recent rotating stuff, but keeping a key player at home is something I don't like. If you won't start CR7,keep him on the bench, rather than not having him at all.

We needed goals but no one in the dugout was worthy of bolstering the attack. Only mayoral did the little he can.
He started the rotation thing way too late. Better late than never tho'. However, I think an issue is that there's no system to the rotation. So the reserve players don't have enough time to gel as they play in different setups with different personnel in every game they're selected.

As to keeping key players at home, isn't that why he hasn't won a CdR yet?

I've come to realise that asensio is better off coming from the bench, he makes more impact as a super sub. Ceballos wasn't impressive also. Our defense was sooo horrible.
Easy. Before someone accuses you of criticizing him. After all, he got an assist.

I'd give Ceballos a break tho'. Didn't play too well, but he doesn't play often enough; and these average games are bound to happen as he gets more playing time.

BTW, how do you expect Benz to take the penalty when Ramos will want to score and celebrate in from of his former club, same thing he did last season smh.

Let's just forget this and move forward, another tough test awaits us this weekend. Celta won't be easy at all.
CR7 should come on from the bench in that game. Zidane would still want to rotate the team, so the team will very likely not be full strength.

I would place a bet with my car that we won't beat sevilla with that line-up. Bro, we have never won our last 4 games there even with our stars let alone with this one. We were lucky not to have conceded more. I wasn't hoping on benzema to score anyways. How many times did he even drive into the 18 yard box?
The score doesn't bother me. It's the performance. Although the second half was better than the first, maybe because they slowed down their press.

I just don't see why that line-up would give such a performance. It says a lot if we weren't expecting our top 9 to score. Maybe Asensio or Ceballos shouldn't have played. Benzema woulda been the playmaker with Mayorall up front. Oh, and Benzema shoulda taken the penalties.

Mayoral comes in at 87'

And scores at 90'
Benzema was hardly in the box. He's used to leaving the box for CR7.

The score flatters us. It could have been worse, but we could have picked a result even tho' we played badly.

What's interesting is that this is not necessarily a bad lineup. The performance should have been better considering the talent of the side.

And some say China and the rising Axis power (China+Russia+Iran+North Korea) are the good guys.

There are no good guys in international politics. A world without the Allieds leading will be a very different world where there'd be no respect for human rights or the environment.

If a Western company had done this, you can be sure they'd be investigated by their governments and fined appropriately. The media will make mincemeat of the company, and activists will target them. The Chinese will take no action.

Africa must realize there is no Santa Claus. Everything has a price. The African problem needs an African solution. We either get our act together or the Chinese will just continue where the Europeans stopped.

Those that dare to fight will just be decimated one village after another
The same Kanuri who through Boko Haram have been trying to usurp the Fula Hegemony? Or do you think everyone is ignorant like the average Joe and doesn't understand the deep geopolitical games going on in the North.

If all your help couldn't be of use to your brothers who had their a** handed to them in Guinea (where they are the majority) and are now having state action burning them up in Ghana, you think it'd be of use against 180+ million Nigerians? Or do you think deep down, the average Hausa man doesn't despise your holier-than-thou tribe.

You guys are already using armed escorts to protect your people making a simple migration in a country at peace. When the chips fall down, what the Mambillas did to you guys would be rehearsal. You wouldn't be chased out. Nigeria will be your graveyard.

Don't turn a new leaf. Those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it.

The Aztecs sacrificed 200,000+ of their neighbors to their gods annually; ripping their hearts out while they were still alive, and cooking them for soup that was shared to the whole population. Today, they're no more. Hitler and Stalin killed 13m+ jews between them. They died like roaches. You guys killed less than 10k Middle Belters and open grazing has been banned already. You think your tribe is fierce? This world has seen worse.

Nah, They weren't calling for his head. But since you've explained that of Kroos what was Modrić also doing? where was he when Rabiot scored?

If he's tired temporarily yes! you're making it sound like What happened in that Bayern goal is the norm whereas its an exception

He's the one we rely on on the left, only when Isco is playing and he drifts left does he have some leeway. Anyone who's watched us countering would see how Marcelo runs like a madman from LB to LW within seconds maybe you should pay attention to him more but watch Carv at that same time and he wouldn't be running that fast.....

This is where you're getting it wrong, I said Marcelo has no business being where he scored from!

Watch the goal again and Marcelo shouldn't be where Kroos/Modrić should be, he scored from their position NOT from the left. Kimmich had NO business being the one to get in the end of Ramos bad clearance which he scored from at the Bernabeu. that's where Toliso or Thiago should be NOT Kimmich

This would make my point further for me, why is Marcelo there? what if a Bayern player had won the Carvajal's hopeful header and they countered immediately? Carvajal would never attack so much to be in such a position UNLESS he's directly responsible for the ball being there. Again Marcelo had no business being in that position once Ramos switched the ball to the right. if that header were made by Marcelo Carvajal would never be the one on the end of it! The same thing that made Marcelo be the one to hit the ball in is the same thing that makes us concede certain goals, its a high risk style of play that people only notice when something goes wrong

Marcelo can actually tame his runs if the coach tells him to, he did that a lot against Bayern last season but needs someone to work with on the left like Carvajal does with Vasquez
You say Carvajal wouldn't be in that situation, yet there he was making the cross deep in Bayern's half. Yet it was Carvajal that laid the cross for CR7 overhead goal against Juve.

See, I'm done debating this. Let's continue making excuses for every player of the team when they make avoidable mistakes recurrently.

Every player does get help, I disagree that he doesn't get help

However calling what he was doing "carefree Jogging" after reading my post means either you didn't read it well or you didn't understand it. Let me ask you where were Kroos and Modrić when Adrien Rabiot scored at the Bernabeu? shouldn't they be the one tracking the run of the midfielders? well it appeared their energy level had dropped in that instance and they couldn't trackback fast enough but to the layman they were "jogging carelessly"

As for Carvajal, its obvious to anyone watching our game that Carv isn't as relied on for width on the right as much as we do Marcelo on the left. The likes of Modrić Lucas etc attack through the right a lot but Marcelo is fully relied on for attacking the left since Ronaldo starts drifting to the middle as soon as we start attacking (nothing wrong in that)

What made him be out of position when we conceded was the same thing that made him score that goal. He has no business being in that position he shot from
Everyone knows Kroos is unreliable when tracking back. That's why Bayern were calling for his head in 2014. What everyone and their meemaws frown upon in other clubs is what we are giving excuses for here.

The simple question is after watching that replay, do you think Carvajal would have done exactly the same thing Marcelo did? The answer is no.

Marcelo doesn't always run from our end to the final third of the opponent's end with the ball. He also does quick passes with others. Sure, he's the one who often make the crosses, but he isn't the only one we rely on the left. So I'm not sure about this reliance excuse.

Whenever we pass the ball back from the half way line, our two wing backs go to the opponent's half. Check every replay you can find. Our wing backs always join the attack. So saying Marcelo has no business in the position he scored from is trying to downplay the kind of system we operate.

As I've said, we have two full backs. Both go up front and track back when they've lost the ball. Carv tracks back faster than Marcelo, why are we making excuses for Marcelo? All we've done is enable him continue to leave those pockets of space that he is often not in a hurry to cover. Let's not forget that's the wing Salah plays in.

I'm sure you've played football before and if you've ever played over 30Min of football you'd know football is an energy consuming game

This is the reason you see certain players easily lose their markers or get outwitted by dribbling easily, its cuz at that point in time they might've been carrying a small knock or more often have lost energy and they need to jog a bit to recover. I know this cuz I played football and no footballer can really run for 90 minutes, they may appear to you like they're running for 90 minutes but if you pay close attention you'll see they move from jogging, walking, running and even standing still

When a player's energy is low and he can't run like before other teammates have to notice and change shape to protect him while he recovers his energy

Kroos, Ramos and Casimiro noticed Marcelo had expended energy running on the flanks and he needed time to recover which made them do the pressing on his behalf, Ramos pressed which left his position opened and Kroos tracked back, what happened that made us concede is lack of good communication between Kroos and Casimiro as they both attempted to block the ball while leaving Kimmich to run behind, you can watch the replay again to see what I'm talking about. if one of them tracked the run of Kimmich he wouldn't have had such time to think and chose his spot. yes Marcelo was caught deep in opposition half but that's a consequence of the team relying on him for width on the left side

We rely on Marcelo to attack the left side all on his own and there would be times he doesn't have the energy to run back fast enough. This is where our midfielders should cover for him till he gets back which they do effectively most times but there are times it simply doesn't work. its the effect of the high risk high reward attacking fullback tactics we deploy.
How does this long sermon invalidate my point that Marcelo receives help contrary to the opinion bandied by the dude I quoted that said "no one" helps him?

And to your explanation. But Carvajal can run back fast enough? And before you bring up the age debate, who between Kroos and Modric tracks back better? It's almost as tho' Marcelo is the only wing back who goes forward, like Carvajal sits back all game.

Watch the replay here -- http://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/2018/04/25/bayern-munich-vs-real-madrid-highlights-full-match-video/#2 -- and tell me Marcelo's whatever it was he was doing with the ball after it had gone past the touch line in addition to his carefree jogging does not bother you.

What next, are we going to start making excuses for Ramos's indiscipline because he scores in the last minutes?

Fine Kroos isnt so helpful defence wise.
Sadly Asensio is going back to that egoistic mode of not wanting to defend because she isnnow default player even ahead of Bale.

But Marcelo was careless yesterday. He caused the first goal.
And kept leaving his position open for attacks.
Fortunately for him Roberto was taken off.
I take issue with the statement that Marcelo receives "NO" help defensively. He does receive help, maybe not as much Carvajal receives, but some is far better than no. And btw Carvajal tracks back way better than Marcelo.

Asensio has not been his usual self in his last few games. It almost feels like that's the one thing he's missing--consistency.

usbcable:
He forgets his primary role is to be a defender not an attacker
And apparently a substantial section of the fan base does not see anything wrong with it. It seems we only talk about glaring issues when we are in a precarious situation. The moment we're out of the woods, all is well with the team. Notice how the talk about our shambolic defending of aerial balls has gone cold.

Useless?

You obviously was not observant of what was happening on the pitch.

Bale helped Nacho a lot defensively keeping Alba at bay.

When Vasquez came on he had more freedom to attack as he became more central positioned.
usbcable:
I was mad that all the attack in the first half was just through the left flank.

They were all blind at seeing Bale running behind Alba

How do you blame him when no one passed to him. I feel like they are conspiring to make Asensio the lead player something he couldn't pull of yesternight.

Benzema can't be a striker anymore. That bus has moved on.

Marcelo was terribly careless yesterday he left so.much space at the back forgetting he had defensive duties. If he does this against Salah on 26th let's just kiss the UCL byebye. He was not tracking the attackers well at all. And he is slow when running backwards as if his hair is pulling him.back
Finally. I thought I was the only one who noticed those.

We made all manner of excuses for Benzema last year when Morata helped make up the number of goals to win the league even though he played less. And we paid for it this year. That's the same thing happening with Marcelo. What'd happen if he unfortunately has multiple bad days up front but continues making gaffes at the back. Like the whole team had in the beginning of the season. It's football, it happens.

The annoying part is that the errors they make are basic errors.

And about the Bale conspiracy, it certainly felt that way. Because if CR7 was making those runs continually, they'd have laid the pass for him multiple times. Asensio is the golden boy, or at least he could be (seems Vazquez is edging him to that tag). But Bale leaving isn't the magic bullet, the new buys would still fight for his spot. I'd really have liked if Bale stayed, it's just the bench will become crowded.

Do you think is easy to be running the flank alone?

Against Bayern, he scored and he assisted. What he lacks in defense, he makes up for attack.

If not for the referee, Marcelo would have won us the match.
Really, no one helps Marcelo out defensively. I've never heard anything more untrue this month.

So he makes a mistake and we concede, just so he scores later on. I wonder how many games we'd win, if every of the back four make errors that lead to goals, only to score later.

And if he had not been AWOL, we wouldn't have conceded the first and we'd have won 2:1.

All this excuses we keep making for players who serially fail to do the basics is only because we're in the UCL final. Heaven forbid we were not in the running for the UCL, you'd be screaming blue murder.

Most of the goals we've conceded this year are goals a club like RM shouldn't be conceding. As tho', there's some rulebook that says we have to concede in order to win. Like the last 15 minutes of the RM-Bayern feature in the Bernabeu was fun.

Maybe you didn't see all the runs Bale made with no one passing to him like it was a conspiracy. Especially that Asensio opening to him in acres of space before the Suarez foul on Varane/Messi goal. One good pass and he scores a beauty.

Benzema is now a playmaker. He has lost most of his striker's instincts. Unfortunately, we need goals, and he isn't scoring as many as he should. I like his style of play but he should be our second highest goal scorer. If Ronnie isn't on the pitch, he should be our most dangerous player upfront, but that isn't the case.

Unlimited22:
Continue ignoring the fact that he more often than not has no help defensively.
Let's stop making excuses for Marcelo. We almost crashed out of the UCL twice because of him running out of position. It happened again today. At what point do we start making him take responsibility for these gaffes.

The main issue is not even him running out of position, that's to be expected from him going forward. It is his shabby recovery that irks me. Between himself and Kroos, I don't know who is slower/faster.

And he gets help defensively. Ramos often tries to cover for him and Kroos/Asensio often help him defensively. It's gotten to a point where we know we'd be defo be punished (or close) from his wing in every single game. Whether it's against Bayern or Malaga.

Yes it was a pen but i am glad to see you guys on the receiving end today. Our unbeaten continues.
Oh you think I'm complaining?

How many times have you heard us complain? We've forgotten about it. Na for media to do their normal jamboree on top.

Na just reminder so when the calls go our way next time, we'd just give you guys the middle finger.

Isiterere:

It is a penalty call, but you and I know that Bale supposed get Red before Roberto. The table turn today, deal with it.

If Bale had gotten a yellow earlier on, he'd have toned down his game and be substituted.

We have dealt with it. When the table turns next time, I hope you'd take this advice. Because you know say na our own dey pain pass.

What nonsense.

I like Ronaldo but this is arrogance.

He is not a god that cannot decline. Great footballers have come and gone.

And poor dig at the fans. The same fans that pay for you to have a good life courtesy of your brother .

idiot.
Poor dig?

Same section of the fans who were nuts when he won the double in just the last season were baying for his head months after even though it was the entire club on a downer. Same section of the fanbase is all over him now, hoping he wins another UCL for the trophy cabinet.

If he enters another off period, they'd start trending #CR7Out. It's shameful.

Moreover she wasn't only talking about the substantial percentage of Madridistas without faith, she's talking about everyone in the anti-RM FC fanbase (which is like every non-RM fan) who are in a hurry to see CR7 decline. Even though he plays less games now, they're still not satisfied. Well, we've got news for you/them, he isn't going away anytime soon. He is a freak of nature.

The way out is never the barca way... The way out is the Madrid way.. We should give them hot mixture of dynamic football

Remember Guadiola played the barca way against them, we all know the outcome grin
You want us to get through with the skin of our teeth or do you want us to hand them a heavy defeat.

We've played the Barca way before. The Supercopa de España second leg was a good example.

As everyone knows, our defense can't help but be porous at times, the last thing we want is letting Liverpool exploit that. We need to keep possession. Another end-to-end game (aka dynamic football) will make the last two UCL Bernabeu games look like rehearsal.
