Miremoses1: They are the better team. It was as though ATH midfield went on vacation. Although, it may be because Marseille is physical. None of the top 6 teams in Spain put up physicality in their game. They met their match in that respect. -Lord 1 Like |

Upnepaa: Oooo. All of this is hypothetical anyway, so you are about as right as I am. We'd never know. That said, if you guys genuinely believe that Messi not playing a match can lead to conceding 5 goals, then you should be worried because he'd be missing a lot more matches in the future. -Lord |

jonsnow92: Go watch the match again, Levante did not commit a lot of men up front to score the goals. They played like a European heavyweight. Few men upfront had a few opportunities and buried the chances like they were in a training session. The slick passing, the runs, and they missed chances too. They played like ninjas, the transition from attack to defense and vice versa was exemplary. -Lord 2 Likes |

tesppidd: I agree it is a possibility, but it could also have been worse since Messi doesn't help defensively. What if it turned out to be Messi's off day like at Roma. IMO, the biggest mistake EV made was not putting Messi on the bench as a precaution. There's no excuse for not putting him on the bench. Game was 5-4 for 20 minutes. If Messi had come in with Barca clearly in the driving seat, it'd most likely have been like the Sevilla draw or even a win. That said, it was a bad day for you guys. Whichever way you guys take it, you'd have conceded several goals. Levante came for the win, which is uncharacteristic of bottom clubs when playing Barca. They're in red hot form. Then with Umtiti injured (he'd been playing like sh*t before his injury tho'), EV was stuck with Mina, Pique, and Vermaelen in the CB position. All 3 played, Levante scored anyway. -Lord |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by LordAdam: 8:01am On May 14, 2018 |
tesppidd: Levante took virtually all their chances. They were in form and their efficiency was unprecedented. Messi wouldn't have stopped them from taking their chances because he is a defensive liability. Coutinho wasn't sleeping, you guys were lucky the blocks led to on-target deflections. Even his first goal was from a poor clearance. You guys are talking as if teams haven't outplayed you guys this season with Messi on the pitch. The difference is that while other teams were inefficient in front of goal, Levante were efficient. Thanks to them being in form... and Mina. -Lord 1 Like |

Miremoses1: You're conflating things. Bale scores, assists, create chances, defends. Benzema assists and create chances. But by someone's logic here Bale's "underperformance" should be called to question and Benzema should be given a pass because he "does more than scoring." It's double standard. Then the same person turns around and say it's not a Bale-Benzema discourse. It's not a Bale-Benze discourse or comparison but you're trying to convince us that Benzema's 5 goals in La Liga is "productive" output, but Bale's 13 goals is stat-padding. I'm not even going to talk about the "balance" point because it is very subjective. -Lord 1 Like |

Miremoses1: Personally, I don't have qualms with Benzema. He does what he can when he can. If Isco hadn't stuck out his leg in a moment of lack of concentration yesterday, Benz would have had a goal. And for all he has done for the club, he deserves to bow out gracefully. But what I wouldn't take is doing that at the expense of another player. Trying to scapegoat Bale while trying to give Benzema a pass is just a low blow. -Lord |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: R36L Madrid - Most Successful & Greatest Champ15ns of Spain, Europe & W8rld by LordAdam: 12:40pm On May 13, 2018 |
usbcable: It's almost as if Benzema just became a playmaker this year. Like he wasn't making incisive passes and more for years now. If what he's doing is enough, then why are we about to break records for a consistent goal scorer? Do Icardi or Kane playmake better than Benzema? But Bale is the issue. Bale who didn't return until December when the League was already out of sight. It's Bale who should have performed better despite scoring twice more goals than the "main striker" in less minutes. So Bale was stat padding. Why is Benzema not stat padding as well? Since it's so easy. -Lord 1 Like |

Miremoses1: Fair enough. So why would anyone decide to take a cheap shot at the second highest goal scorer on the team. It's almost like holding two players to different standards. Benzema has always been an amazing playmaker. However, he also carried out his primary task in the past. Score goals. Now he has abdicated that primary task. And yet when Bale picks that tab, some begin to act like it's division of labor. No it isn't. Benzema should not have 5 goals in the league. Playmaking or no playmaking. Peeps should stop confusing loyalty for free pass. -Lord 1 Like |

hardeycute: Really? "Not defending." Seriously, I give up. Why do you have to make things up just to berate Bale. Bale has created as many chances as Benzema in La Liga with fewer matches. It's not a Bale-Benzema discourse, but you're trying to say he's not doing enough and at the same making excuses for Benz. Wow! Someone really said Bale doesn't defend. -Lord |

hardeycute: Why would anyone talk about Bale's performance during CR7's bad run? For one he was still injured at the beginning of the season, and whenever he came in later on, he played fewer minutes for protection reasons. Virtually every player except Navas takes flak for the beginning of the season, why are you bringing up a player who barely played then and trying to compare him to a "main striker" who he outperformed resoundingly with fewer minutes. -Lord |

hardeycute: What exactly do you mean by doing more than scoring? Bale also does more than scoring. You were asked a simple question, how many points did Benzema's goals in La Liga help us get? Answer it, before you retort with a Bale stat-padding accusation. And while you're at it, kindly tell us what Benzema's primary purpose on the team is? -Lord |

usbcable: It's not only about leaving or injury. The GOAT doesn't play a lot of games anymore. And that's never going to change, in fact, it'd get fewer. So we need someone who'd be able to step-up to fill the scoring void. Benzema is simply not that person. He combines well, passes well, has terrific vision, but he's a 10-15 goal per season player now. Not the 25-30 goal per season main striker RM need. He has scored the same number of goals as Asensio this year. -Lord |

Miremoses1: Sure, a loan deal will do him good. Carvajal went on loan as well to develop. The question really is if he goes, who'd deputize for Carvajal? Carvajal plays too many games and often takes a knock at the end of the season. Vallejo and Varane are glasses, so having just Nacho to fill in for both RB and CB is not an okay risk. Maybe he should stay and like Varane develop with the team. Hakimi should exclusively be used in games where we'd dominate and would not really be tasked defensively, so his pace up front is deadly and his defensive naivety is less costly. This would boost his confidence. He is 19 and going to a World Cup and is likely to play all 3 group stage matches. I believe if we sort out our attack next season, it'd be sufficient to cover our frailties at the back. -Lord 1 Like |

hardeycute: SMH! It's now time to defend Benzema's poor scoring shey. Benzema in La Liga -- 1820 minutes, 37 chances created, 5 goals scored Bale in La Liga -- 1458 minutes, 37 chances created, 11 goals scored That's the way Benzema was the main striker last year, but Morata outscored him. Yet, you want to chalk last season's trophies to Benzema's productivity. Mayoral has played far less minutes than Benzema yet Benzema has 11 goals in total versus his 9. But when all fails, blame the coach. Okay o. By your logic, for next season, we should sell Bale, keep Benzema, and not sign anyone up front since Benzema can help us win 2 trophies. After all, Bale was injured for the most part of last year. How many Ayes do I get? -Lord 2 Likes |

I'm thinking diversity and demographics was the primary reason why they kept it on for two more undeserved seasons. I typically do not like raining on the parade of series that I don't like. Consultant Pharmacists and Consultant Doctors in the UK are on the same band 9. When it's proposed here, they throw tantrums like kids who've had their lollipops taken. MrBigiman: You guys should stop this senseless debate. The average IQ of commenters on this thread is several base points higher than the average Nigerian. Act like it. There are Consultants in most major health professionals in the UK (Pharmacy, Radiography et cetera). And doctors don't all earn the same salaries. Anesthesiologists earn more than GPs. I don't get this selective importation of UK norms. Like law, medicine in Nigeria is modeled like that in the UK. You guys complain over everything. You talk about the wage structure abroad, then conveniently ignore the fact that doctors don't run hospitals abroad. If you want to discuss the merits of a position, do so coherently, as I'm sure you guys are able to do. This cheap nonsense you guys are engaging in is irritating. If you say consultant pharmacists are redundant, then you must explain why, when they certainly have a place in the UK (the UK you guys are falling over yourselves to enter). If it's by effort, miners would earn more than investment bankers. -Lord 12 Likes |

First off, I should say I regularly decry the despicable compensation health workers in general get in this country. From personal experience not hearsay. That said, Nigeria is a developing country and salaries will not be the same as over the shores. Not for a very long time. Taxi drivers in Cuba earn more than doctors. Many folks in the freelancer section on NL earn more than doctors in several Eastern European countries (Poland, Austria... I'm talking countries with 24/7 power, world class health facilities, and excellent living conditions). Before you ask what doctors (health practitioners in general) are still doing in Nigeria, ask yourself the cost of an ultrasound in Nigeria and compare it to the price of an ultrasound in US/CA/UK/AU. If you want to practice outside. Go! I'm the last person who'd tell you to stay. But those who stay are the real MVPs. We shouldn't start deriding them for their (I should say) ill-advised choice to remain in this god-forsaken country where they are underappreciated. -Lord 29 Likes 5 Shares |
