Eyedea:I just hope we treat their departure right. Because Flo and the board can dey psyche sometimes. -Lord |
Neimar:This early. I admire your tenacity jare! -Lord |
Debroslink:And my point is that Messi always had a Balon D'Or chance even if Ronaldo scored. No one will make a sound about a Messi Balon D'Or win if Argentina wins the WC (unless he doesn't play any game). Because he'd outclass everyone on the team. And that'd be the case whether Ronaldo scored today or didn't. It's the same thing with Neymar. But virtually everyone on this thread would agree that Argentina aren't the team to beat in this WC unless a miracle happens. -Lord |
TLona1:Who would have taken the blame had Benz and Bale not scored? Answer? That's the curse of G.O.A.T contenders. You are expected to be on every scoresheet. And you can only hope that when you don't someone else does, if not, it's your neck on the chopping block. There's no way around it. -Lord |
Debroslink:That one na ur concern! It only boost ur hopes, not Messi. You guys never learn, so no issues. Complain, he'd still win his sixth. Then you guys would throw the expected, inevitable tantrums of not caring about the Balon D'Or. Then by this time next year, you guys would start pining for Messi to win it. It's a circle. It happens every time CR7 wins it. So continue. And good night. If you see the color white in your dream, don't panic. E go dey alright last last. -Lord |
Debroslink:Dude, until the SF, Benzema had scored only 2 goals in the UCL. Bale was AWOL due to injuries and fitness issues. CR7 carried the team, scoring in every match. Then in the last two matches, Bale and Benzema scored all RM goals. So where is the lie in saying CR7 set the stage for them to shine? Don't do transferred aggression. You guys against Liverpool would've been a formality. You guys would have mounted a better challenge than Liverpool in this final. You guys screwed it up yourselves. So this is no one's fault but yours. Same way we losing the league was entirely our fault. Own up to it. Recognize Ronaldo is in the running for a record 6th Balon D'Or, and start preparing in earnest for next season to break the QF curse. This obsession with Ronaldo is why you guys have been faltering since 2015. Advance and win the UCL. If you want to stop him, do it yourself, don't hide behind a team with a keeper like Karius to do it for you. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Yes, now we build! Good to see the CR7 reliance waning a bit. Unfortunately, the people stepping up are also veterans on their way out. Personally, I'm conflicted, how do we keep this high? This galactico class of 2014-2018 is just exceptional. -Lord |
Debroslink:Except that Minus is not enough to make him slip behind Messi. He is the highest goal scorer of the competition and the first player to score in all group stages. He scored 15 of RM 33 UCL goals. He paved the way for Benz and Bale to have the stage to shine. -Lord |
Debroslink:You jor want to start unnecessary argument. You know deep down, Ronaldo is at the front of the race. If you want to live in denial, no problem. You guys have protested every Ronaldo Balon D'Or, this is not the first time. If you guys could protest last year, there's no reasoning with you bunch. -Lord |
Debroslink: homesteady:Ballon D'Or wen sure pass for CR7 going into the World Cup? You better stop hoping for a Messi win in vain. Argentina is an excuse. The only person that can take it from CR7 is Neymar. The price is high--win the World Cup. CR7 still has the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup to enhance his profile. -Lord |
Debroslink:Well played guys! Amazing technique from Barca to send that guy. Like play, na we go get better season. 3-peat UCL (better than the League). Now we'd boss ATH without Griezmann in the Super Cup (better than the Supercopa). And go win the CWC (better than the Copa del Rey). The greatest club in the world for a reason. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Biko, abeg it's better he didn't get ahead of himself. Plus na by faith usbcable dey believe say we fit win. The fab 3 and the English media machine got to him. -Lord |
RuuDie:The Baba is a trade secret. He is our highest paid staff! We jor extended his contract before the final. -Lord |
usbcable:Is there anything wrong with using it again? It's a 3-peat. A treble is in the cards next year, but I'd rather we savor this win. Ofc if there's a better suggestion, I'd get along with it. -Lord |
bilms:Chief, you cannot use $200b to get 160,000MW in Nigeria. That is impossible. That wouldn't barely even be enough for the generation plants, much more the transmission and distribution. That's around $1.25b/1MW to generate, transmit, and distribute. Even China, where it is incredibly cheap to build infrastructure, used an average of $1b/1MW to construct the Three Gorge Dam (generation only). Extrapolate for Nigeria where we'd import everything, from the equipment to the skilled manpower, the inevitable wastage and corruption, and you can see how the numbers don't check out. 160,000MW is a good estimate of the power we need to make giant strides, but $200b would not get us that amount. The most it'd get us is 100,000MW (IMO, it'd be far less), which isn't bad per se, but if you're giving a report like this, you can't give in to sensationalism. Be realistic, and preferably, conservative in estimates. -Lord |
usbcable:I'd say we proudly wear the "King/Emperor of Europe" badge (it should be in the title somewhere). We've earned it. -Lord |
usbcable:Seriously, my veins popped at that moment. Must be a cule. ![]() -Lord |
usbcable:He is here somewhere. At least CR7 didn't score, so he should feel slightly better. -Lord |
FBS:The point is this isn't something new. With Ramos, you get the whole package. He does whatever he has to do to win games. He didn't do same against Neymar, he didn't against Dybala, he didn't against Lewandowski. Then whatever the f*ck happened with Salah (he's not the first to wrestle a player to the ground), and all of a sudden he's a monster. And a Madrid fan would buy into the hysteria. Ramos is not a clean player. He has never given off that aura, never said he is. And honestly, I don't think he cares. -Lord |
usbcable:Like he cares. He paid his Karma in advance. -Lord |
usbcable:Seriously, he was almost as bad as Karius. No Liverpool player, aside Karius, played as badly as he did. F*cking disgrace. In a CL Final. I expect Kovac to start getting more game time at his expense as it seems he doesn't want to snap back from whatever dreamland he stepped into. -Lord |
usbcable:I wouldn't use justified. I'd use "paid off." Not to take anything away from Zidane, but surely you understand why everyone was pissed at the selection. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Like a charm! The belief in him and the team was worth it. I couldn't have imagined it going any better. And the 3-1 scoreline flatters Liverpool, we had enough chances to bury them with a heavier scoreline. -Lord |
monerozi5590:Really? It sucks he didn't get a goal. He could have placed the header better (although it was offside), wasn't fast enough with the sitter, and Bale could've passed that clear ball to him (even though I understand his reason to go alone. Then there's that id*ot that came on the pitch on the extra added minute. As I said earlier. A CR7 goal is a bonus. Happy it was Bale who stepped up. The same Bale you said is "miles" behind Salah! -Lord |
F*cking pretenders trying to unseat the Emperor of Europe. Now let's start tasting the salty tears from Catalonia. Madrid is Europe's Football Capital! Blown away my a$$! Congrats Bale! -Lord |
Miremoses1:You get time to reply them. Let us win jeje and carry our trophy. At least they have something to console themselves. We did not go to Kiev to play hide and seek. -Lord |
The first half went better than expected. Sucks for Carvajal tho'. -Lord |
Anyway, let's not jinx the match. They can turn up and it'd be a joy a watch. Let's trust Zidane, the players, and let's believe. The biggest club in world football makes history tonight! -Lord |
Miremoses1: usbcable:You should check these stats: Karim Benzema: He seems to be in the worst form, with only 40 touches on average per match, in a deeper position and with more errors, with 40 percent leading to mistakes.Yet our buddy Zidane started Benz. The only barely reasonable reason for picking Benz over Bale is that Bale is more of an impact player than Benz, so theoretical he is the better player to come off the bench than Benz. But who knows what the scoreline would be by the 60-65 minutes when he typically makes his change? As I said, a gamble. Hopefully it pays off and we can forget this bad feeling we're having now. AtYourCervix:Such as? Isco roams. And with Benzema playing, it will almost certainly morph into a diamond when the whistle goes off. Plus I wasn't advocating for Isco to be on the bench, maybe you got the wrong message from my comment. I'd have preferred a 4-4-2 with Ronaldo and Bale upfront. Can't remember the last time we had such an in-form Bale. Then we have him just in time for the final that'd save our season and make history, and Zidane chooses to keep him on the bench? At this rate, you have to wonder if the new striker we're about to buy wouldn't still be second fiddle to Benz assuming he stays. The obsession with the BBC was Ancelotti's undoing. Let's hope for our hearts sake, Zidane's obsession with the CR7-Benz partnership doesn't become Zidane's undoing. -Lord |
Viking007:Use hesgoal.com. Others can chime in. You can get other links in the main final thread. -Lord |
@Miremoses1 and usbcable, Benzema starts ahead of Bale. Same diamond that's been a source of anguish this year gets picked again. I said it that Zidane is a gambler. Now let's hope the gamble pays off. -Lord |
