MoR2:There's Ramos, Carvajal, Nacho, Isco, Asensio, LV already. Ceballos and Llorente are supposed to be the future of our midfield. Odi and De Gea are supposed to be coming. -Lord |
Ksslib:He respects CR7. At least going by recent comments he made this year. The issue is if he respects Messi too much. Like that nonsense Wenger and Simeone do by saying Messi can't be stopped, then proceed to give him too much playing space (Wenger is most guilty). Seriously, whether Lope succeeds or not is up to him than any other factor. -Lord |
monerozi5590:Maybe you've forgotten that Perez is in charge of transfers and he just hired a yes man who wouldn't give him any troubles with his crazy signing ambitions. We may not need another GK, but Perez is interested in signing one. Miremoses1:The good thing about him making those choices is that everyone knows Asensio and Isco can't carry a team like RM every weekend. Varane has stuck with us through the thick and thin for 7 seasons (doubt the selection choices of a transition coach will faze him. He'd always prove his mettle when called upon). Bale's position doesn't need any tampering, he'd be injured sooner or later (if Perez keeps him). Ronaldo can't physically play more games than he currently does, and who knows if heavy possession style will be good for him switching into a 9. So unless Lope proves to be annoyingly stubborn, he does have his work cut out of him. Maybe I'm being too optimistic. But what's the alternative? -Lord |
gberra:This administration? You're joking right? Can you honestly say the SS gives a rat a**e about Buhari? We don't. We never have. We never will. So we're not expecting anything from the dufus. Buhari will come and go. No one is bothered. We had the Ministry of Niger Delta and NDDC created partly in response to Saro Wiwa's death; you didn't see us trying to rub it in the face of any tribe. Always trying to foment trouble! Abiola is the only GCFR to die in prison. Kudirat was shot like a common criminal. It's always easy to lay wreaths than to send roses. -Lord |
Miremoses1:It all depends on the results. If he knows what is good for him, he'd be practical with his selections. If he doesn't, the results will show and he'd be sacked in a jiffy. As I've said, I don't have high hopes for next season. It's both exciting and concerning. Let's give him a chance and see how well his style works for the team. About him being a Messi fan. There hasn't been a coach who's a fan of Messi that CR7 hasn't humbled. Lope would be no different. I don't even think CR7 cares. Let's just give the man all the support he needs, so if he starts flunking there'd be no excuses. -Lord |
gberra:Sophisticated morons! No soul in SS gives a sh*t about Abiola. We voted for him in the elections, joined in the protest against the annulment, he died and everyone moved on. Nothing more. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Man played 5 games for Barca and 1 game for RM. Ain't a fan of Bale. Fan of Messi and Isco. Hopefully, he doesn't start a ruckus in the dressing room. Ramos just has to get CR7 and Marcelo on board, and Lope'd have a stable first 3 months. From then on, only results will determine how long things hold up together. I'm all piped up for his possession style. It'd be fun to watch as we'd obviously keep the ball more in the league, which should mean more entertaining play and fewer conceded goals. We already use it in the CL. If we can use it more often in La Liga, maybe, just maybe, we could have another double or who knows a treble. Time to raid for De Gea. Although I'd rather we went for Alisson who is practically begging for us to get him. -Lord |
Melvyn11:Dude, Lope is a stop-gap measure. The plan B I was talking about. Perez has been wanting to have a Spanish-heavy RM for a while now, so it's no surprise he favored Lope. I don't think he'd see his contract through (it's 3 yrs). However, it's too early to say if he is a bad choice. -Lord |
gberra:Dude IDGAF! Abiola is dead and gone. Even GEJ tried to honor him by renaming UNILAG to MAU. So, I don't know where you get the impression that I or anyone in the SS gives a damn about June 12. And in case you don't know, the only SS state Abiola didn't win was Rivers. Get your head out of your a$$, it's not a hat. -Lord |
One thing I'm excited about Julen's appointment is his preference for possession football. How successful he'd be with it, seeing we've always been a fast and furious team is anyone's guess. -Lord |
Miremoses1:If the desirable isn't available, the available should become desirable. We have a sporting director and scouts. If we can't provide a direct replacement for Benz, we should at least give him competition. It seems like the board will eventually settle for Lewy, not because he is our top choice, but because he is the only person available. A Ciro or Vardy would guarantee us at least 15 domestic goals playing with CR7/Bale/Isco/Modric/Kroos/Marcelo/Carvajal. But I don't think Perez will sign anyone upfront who doesn't fit the galactico mould. Which I think is a primary reason why the board isn't even seeking Icardi's signature. I think the board still has this misguided notion that there are only a few desirable top clubs for WC players and coaches; and are having a rude awakening. -Lord |
redsun:I really envy people who have such a simplistic view of this situation? Seems you haven't heard of people paying alimony indefinitely until their partners pass. This has got nothing to do with arranged marriages. A woman can really have affections for you and over the years no longer feel it. Over here, we try to make it work, because well what are the options right. Over there, she can start having an affair, start a baseless argument over the trash can, call the police on you by saying you were getting violent. She doesn't have to provide any proof, and the policeman would advice you to leave the house, even if you don't want to. The moment you leave, that house is 90% hers. Ask any divorce attorney. She can serve you, take you for at least 50% of what you've got + the house + majority custody (because which judge would let you have majority custody when it's the woman who gets the home). Then you have to pay alimony until she remarries (amount depends on her standard of living prior to your separation; if you spoiled her like a good husband would when the going was good, good luck getting a bill less than four figures monthly. If you are a millionaire, f*ck you!), pay child support (up to 17% of your income per kid), and if there are mortgage payments on the house to complete guess who foots the bill (yh, you)! And while you are grappling with this life-altering turn of events, this lovely "wife" who you tied the knot with could have that n*gga move into your house which you're paying the mortgage for, while you're squatting in your friend's basement, and f*ck her brains out day in and out, while your kids are in an adjoining room contemplating the prospect of having a new step-dad (father figure)/dealing with a divorce. Yes, before the divorce is finalized. Yea. And this is a lady who isn't a psycho or hates your guts. This is just a lady who prolly loved you but just didn't feel the connection anymore and wanted to start afresh with someone else. Now imagine how bad it'd be if she was using you all along, is mean to a fault, or a psycho. That's when you'll start having nasty custody battles; she'll start turning the kids against you, making sure she gets a shark of a lawyer who intends to rip you of all you got; start lying about domestic violence, sexual assault (or God forbid you cheated at any point in your relationship with her)... Dude, two things can wreck you in the US. An health emergency or a pissed off female you're in a committed relationship with. Heck a stock market crash beats getting ripped off of all you've worked for. Because with stocks, you lose all your savings at one stretch and then you can rebuild. When you're getting ripped, it often doesn't have an end date, and the consequences isn't just financial. The emotional angst as you see this one-time love-of-your-life take you for all you've got while having zero concern about you. In fact, a lady who stays with you for at least 6 months in some states is entitled to post-breakup payments. You think everyone can take that lying down? Most men go through this sh*t with their heads low; taking solace in the fact that it's a cultural thing and they know on a first-name basis friends who have it worse. So much so that it has spun a MTGOW movement. A few of them say f*ck it and kill the partner in question. Do I applaud it? No. But boy do I sympathize with them. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Well, we wouldn't be sure until we reach out to him and give him a deal he can't refuse. But what do you have. A Madrid board in need of a WC striker letting Chelsea (that's playing in Europa) get ahead of us in the race for the easiest name to sign on our striker checklist. Apparently, he is currently negotiating a better deal and should sign a new contract (like Kane) in the coming days. Then prolly after he signs the new deal, you'll start hearing us preparing a 200m bid for him, like we've been under the rock all this while. I just dey look Perez with corner eye. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Personally, I think it'd be interesting to see how Perez manages to keep CR7, Bale, and Neymar happy at the same time. Playing together is not really the issue, but the wage bill. Bale earns 300k, CR7 earns 365k. Yea, believe that. Bale that's out half of every season with injuries earns 65k less than CR7. Now Perez wants to bring in Neymar and make him the highest paid player in the club, while simultaneously increasing CR7 and Bale's salaries. And his obsession with Neymar is worrying. He may eventually sell one or more of our first 11 or vital replacements to get enough money to fund his 350m Neymar bid + GK bid + WC No 9 bid + any other utility player like Odriozola et al. About Benzema, I hate to be pessimistic, but if he is our main striker next season, then we should just expect the worst and hope for the best. Simply forget about winning a trophy. At this point, there's no reason whatsoever to make Benz our top man upfront. Bale is unreliable for the whole season and CR7 wouldn't play more games, he'd play less (several of which he wouldn't finish/play to 90); which means any top striker for us has to guarantee at least 15 goals domestically for us to be in the running for the league and CdR. Benz offers no such guarantee. -Lord |
Miremoses1:We can lure him. He's practically in pole position and if he comes he'd start at least 50% of our matches if he hits the ground running. It's not like he's going to the WC. With Milan he gets a chance of playing in the UCL. With RM he is guaranteed to reach the SF and has a shot at winning it. -Lord |
Interesting how a lot of Madridistas actually have this pie-in-the-sky take on our current situation. Yes, this is Madrid. But the current situation is peculiar and the man at the helm of affairs is Perez. Zidane just left, no WC coach would be in a hurry to sign a deal with Perez knowing it'd likely mean being sacked before next season is over. These coaches have advisers too you know. That's why everyone is shooting down rumors of joining--from Low to Tite. Even Conte is now feeling fly because of our history. The board should roll the dice. We've tried to get the big names and they're not coming. They should enact plan B. Get a transition coach to fill in. They were supposed to have made an announcement last weekend. We're at the start of the second week after their self-imposed deadline. About players, anyone who really thinks we would sign Neymar or Kane this summer doesn't have his head in the right place. Neymar's contract has a release clause date that's a day after the transfer window closes (a deliberate attempt to keep him for at least 2 seasons). Tottenham just gave Kane a 5-yr contract and DOUBLED his wage. He's not going to leave that to a club dilly-dandying about giving their star player a raise, at least not immediately after signing such a contract. Lewandowski is no longer a target. Not after that shitshow he pulled at the SF. If Perez gets him, it's because he's desperate (and right now he surely is as he is offering two new contracts to Bale and Ronaldo, when just weeks ago he was acting like he would call Ronaldo's bluff and had Bale on the chopping block). After our spat with Liverpool, Firmino isn't coming this summer. Salah too. Icardi is an option, but we can't make any concrete moves until we get a new coach and the clock is ticking. The club is in a state of flux right now, and it can either be rescued or it can descend into a Holy Sh*t! spectacle. Zidane rescued us the last time around. Would Perez make another good decision? I hope so. But let's not confuse optimism for realism. -Lord |
samplanner:Ndidi never recover na. The coach rape your sister? This 1 wen u jor dey para... -Lord |
remedick:Mtcheew! Why you no go chop ban wen you go leave topic of interest start dey talk another thing? This was your first statement on this thread: don't mind the slowpoke. That is why I don't like him. Too proud! Now judge yourself, how relevant is that post in this thread? -Lord |
remedick:Why comment on a public forum if you don't want to be quoted? You jor left what the thread is about and veered to a different tangent. Better mind yourself. If you are tired of replying, stop. As if you were the only one I quoted on the thread. Seems you are so stuck on yourself to think the world revolves around you. Wake up and smell the coffee! Oga humility! You dey bash celebrity, yet small forum reply you start dey shiver like who malaria dey do! Hypocrite. -Lord |
remedick:Yea, and your humble a$$ just insulted him in your first comment before making your point. Like why you mad? You got your good boy in Messi, let Ronaldo be. How boring the world would be if everyone was a Tibetan Monk. Ronaldo had to prove himself every step of the way from Madiera to Madrid. He didn't get a free pass. He's earned the right to be say what he wants, whenever he wants, however he wants. His charity work and causes are well known, he doesn't need your or anyone else's validation. This is a guy who refused to celebrate a goal because Sir Alex Ferguson was hospitalized. And here you are talking like you are the Archangel in charge of deciding who goes where on Judgement Day. Whether he is proud or he isn't proud, he'd die one day like every one of us. So let him live his life as he deems fit, and you live your life as you deem fit. Either that or you can go f*ck yourself and keep your like and opinion to yourself. He owes you nothing. Celebrity bashing is not a job nor achievement! Just a word of advice. -Lord |
MoR2:Except that Sarri complements his press with possession football; sth we are experts in. The issue with Allegri is, would he want to come? Becoming a manager at RM is a high-profile job, but it isn't a long-term one. Low was contacted, he turned the offer down. Ladrup has said earlier this year he doesn't want to coach for much longer, so he fits the profile of a coach Perez would want. One that isn't too vested and can be made a scapegoat when things go south. Anyway, let them contact as many options as they want as long as they make a decision before the end of the world cup. -Lord |
So let me get this straight. We just went from aiming for the treble next season to now hoping we have a good season (whatever that means). Thankful to Zidane for the memories. He's earned his break. As for the Board, now is a good time to carry out the overhaul we've been pushing forward. If you want to call anyone's bluff, do so now. If you're signing anyone, get the signature in time. You guys have the whole summer to make something out of this new found mess. Not when the season starts, we'll start hearing funny stories. As for my choice of managers. In order of preference: 3. Poch (...This low because I don't think he'd be an efficient man manager. He may have the tactics, but that wouldn't mean sh*t if he doesn't control the massive egos in the locker room). 2. Sarri (He'd provide the team with defensive solidity. No more leaking goals, which effectively means less pressure to outscore when playing). 1. Allegri (Needs no introduction) Those talking about Klopp should know he is a One Direction kind of guy. Geggenpressing is all he has, and we don't have the youthful squad that'd implement that rigorously. You're practically saying folks like CR7, Kroos, Marcelo would be running around the pitch for 90 minutes every match they play; which we know is impossible. We'd be a first half team (like Liverpool that's a 60' team). I have very low expectations for the 2019 season. Top two finish in the league, CdR win (even if we have to play CR7 in it to win, so be it. It's the only realistic trophy we can win in our sleep), and UCL SF (if we've done it for 8 consecutive seasons with the managerial shitshow we've had, we can do it once more). -Lord |
remedick:He doesn't need your like. He already has 120m+ followers around the globe on social media alone who adore him. I'm sure the feelings of one inconsequential nobody in a third world sh*thole doesn't bother him. You guys need to get your head out of your a$$ and stop wasting your time debating the personal virtues of celebrities. Like how does that f*cking affect you? He is proud? And so f*cking what? He has a billion reasons to be proud. How many do you have? -Lord |
Ikemefuna44:See how pained you are. On top another person life! All figures are after tax. Here's for Messi, as I'm sure you are a fan of the midget. https://www.totalsportek.com/money/lionel-messi-net-worth/ And to the rubbish rumor of Ronaldo losing the dressing room, here's a link of all RM players and 80k+ Bernabeu supporters chanting Cristiano Quedarse (Cristiano Stay!) during the 2018 UCL celebrations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ir3KAMFSaI&t=1795s As for those talking about the salary. Sanchez and Ozil earn same or higher than Ronaldo. Does that make sense?! -Lord |
Yonce:True. AtYourCervix:Nope. Wasn't his first or second. Had 3 touches with his leg and one touch with his head before the goal. Just watched part of the second half. Should have said "first shot." Noticed that CR7 was part of the buildup of Bale's two goals. And Marcelo buried them like we expected him to with the two assists. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Benz to score an overhead kick in the 63rd minute... ![]() -Lord |
Miremoses1:Sure thing. And who else is missing Asensio's crackers? Been a long time he gave us a treat. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Think the Puskas should go to Bale's goal, if it were down to those two. CR7 is more beautiful IMO, but Bale's platform (the final) and the fact that it was his first touch of the ball just does it for me. It's amazing that CR7 and Bale did both in the same year and in the same 63rd minute. It's a shame that Bale isn't going to the World Cup. Very unlucky fella. -Lord |
Cules will do anything to spite CR7 and the Madrid fan base. Turning to Bale's advocates just for the attention. Maybe they've forgotten Bale is our second highest player yet hardly is available for a whole season. He is 29 next year and we've paid him good money for his inconsistency and shown him love for 5 years. No one wants Bale to leave, but no one can be sure of how long he'd remain healthy. If he remained healthy all season long, between himself and CR7, we'd have a guaranteed 60 goals. No reasonable Madridista would want to throw that away. But that isn't the case. We've all been here before (see 2014 and 2016), where Bale was magical in finals and we had high hopes; only for another hiatus to start. That said, I'm sure you guys have forgotten so quickly how virtually everyone on this thread was distressed when Bale didn't start the final. Madrid Twitter was lit up. If we hadn't won, I can guarantee you, that'd have been a talking point. So to turn around and start accusing us of not giving Bale his due recognition is tomfoolery. Bale's double at Kiev will always be in our hearts. His overhead kick will be one of the most important and beautiful goals in our club's history. PS: Guys check this out. WTF! Mind blown!

hopefulLandlord:I pitied him when he left injured. His village people sha! Hopefully, he recuperates in time and gives an awesome performance. He deserves to have a good run in the Spanish jersey. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Whole Bernabeu and Players scream: Cristiano QUEDARSE! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ir3KAMFSaI&t=1795s -Lord |
Yonce:Sucks for Carva. Especially since Zidane tried to give him ample time to recover. He's at the perfect age for the World Cup. It'd hurt badly. -Lord |
