Neimar:Winning is the Priority. Scoring is a bonus. He wants to be the first player to win the champions league (in current format) a record 5 times, which I'm sure he'll choose over becoming the first player to score in four CL finals, if given the choice. Every true Madrid fan would rather he gets both. If he becomes the first to have a CL hattrick, even better; since Liverpool have the worst defense of all the teams he's played against in the final. Hala Madrid! #APorLa13 -Lord |
Paperwhite:Biko, post this as its own thread. Don't know why people can't take the extra few minutes to edit an OP properly. But why now? Why would they wait until now to cancel the contract. If all the Presidency wanted was their share, they'd have let it go ahead and discuss with Ameachi, after all they reached a similar multi-billion naira deal with the principal members of the senate. Maybe the rumors that the Presidency is falling out with Amaechi has some substance to it. Not sure about the reason. Amaechi is a powerful enemy to have, not because of his electoral value (that's gone now, not that he ever had that per se), but because of the war chest he's acquired as a super Minister with an outrageous budget. Or maybe they think they don't need contributed cash anymore because of obvious reasons. -Lord |
Miremoses1:I get your point, and I heartily endorse it. But I'd rather we didn't suffer like we did in the last 3 CL games. I want me some Cardiff repeat. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Personally, I don't fancy the whole end-to-end setup. Not necessarily because Liverpool could potentially outscore us, but because it plays to their strengths, and we shouldn't be doing that. If this game gets to 60" and we are still at parity, we win. If it goes to extra time, we win. If it goes to pen, we win. The Liverpool plan is to have us chase the game. They aren't looking to break down our defense by intricate passing from the back through the midfield (a la Barca), they want to create chances simply by geggenpressing. Hoping that as many of our march forward turn to breaks for them. So instead of trying to flood their area, how about we keep possession, using our exceptional passing to evade their press and try to pick our moments. They'd get sick of it and become restless/reckless. We know how to manage games, we shouldn't give them what they want. That's exactly how Chelsea, Tott, and Man U got them. Guardiola tried to be a fanatic 3 times, he failed every time. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Still think it's a ploy to keep the smokescreen up. Although I could be wrong. Earlier today, reporters covering the training were saying Bale trained like he wasn't starting (meaning he wasn't as intense in training as CR7 for example). Then hours later Marca change their probable lineup to a 4-3-3 and say the BBC starting is most likely. Sorry, ain't buying it until I see the actual lineup. They just want to throw Liverpool off because they only have one style, we have a whole alphabet of styles and schemes. -Lord |
johnny1980:That is not even the quote. Go read the bloody transcript! Classless club! We're putting out all stops. -Lord |
Miremoses1:He's sending shots, trying to rattle Marcelo. Else he had no reason to pinpoint Marcelo. We're Madrid. We'd eat him up, chew him out, and he'd be a one hit wonder when we're done with him. He should ask Athletico and Juve. The RM contingent has not had anything critical to say about Liverpool players. There's been a healthy amount of respect shown even from the GOAT and the Legend Coach. In the interest of sportsmanship, that should be reciprocated. The entire Liverpool base thinks Marcelo is the weakest link in our team, so the coach going out of his way to make that statement isn't a lapse in judgement, it's tactical. Marcelo would shut him up. The team will tear him a new one. Pretty sure Marcelo went back, watched that video and entered Beast mode. -Lord |
InvertedHammer:I'm not going to respond to a fellow who admits to not reading my posts thoroughly. It's an effort in futility. -Lord |
InvertedHammer:Owning up to your inability to read, aren't you. And if any part is way beyond your comprehension, why not respectfully ask for clarification rather than give the impression you comprehended all I had to say. Here I am thinking I'm in a flow, and you're out there cherry picking what parts of my post you want to read. Explains the lazy arguments and racial profiling. Have it your way, can't be bothered. -Lord |
InvertedHammer:"Investors fly down to meet you because of GS and her track records?!" Sh*t, you haven't even been reading my f*cking replies. What a tool! -Lord |
Who else got miffed by Klopp's Marcelo's comment? It's one thing for us fans to prod him to improve his tracking back. It's a whole other thing for an opposition coach to flay him before a UCL final. I don't see Zidane saying same about the bunch of bang average players in their back line. Well, it's no holds barred. Mutual respect out the window. Good thing they're the reds, so the carnage looks good on them. Let's do to Klopp what we did to Diego after his Messi is better than BBC comment. -Lord |
koice:Dude you called CoS a cult and called RCCG a cult in the same breath. Are you confident that most people on this thread--scratch that, the person you quoted--would agree with you that RCCG is a cult? If yes, we could ask him/her or organize a quick poll for 24 hours anywhere of your choice on this forum. If no, then I'm positive you see the reason why my advice to temper your label rattling is not out of place. People can have a binary view of most controversial terms. You can't reasonably assume they'd always take to your definition/understanding/viewpoint like white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm. The average random person reading that comment of yours would not imagine that by using the word "cult," you were referring to an organization like the RCCG (or sits in the same category). And therein lies my main point, don't call SoC a cult, because it is a religion (or more technically, a religion would be a more acceptable toga to vest on it); same way RCCG is a religious sect. Which leads me to my second point, aiming a shot at Elizabeth because of her affiliation to a religion was way out of line, same way you wouldn't do same to a RCCG member playing an Ogboni Confraternity member in a nollywood movie. I'm not sure what part of this rattles you or why. As I've said, and would repeat, it's not all about your opinion, it is also about perception. You might call it overlooking facts, but that is immaterial. Most "facts" can be manipulated to fit a narrative. Evident from all the examples I gave you of organizations that do same or worse than SoC that most people don't call cults. And I would know because I'm deeply irreligious. And I know enough of the back story to sound like a conspiracy theorist to even above-average informed people like yourself. You don't go around sharing labels like you got an express delivery from Santa. The interesting part is you don't even have to agree with me. I have no interest in changing personal opinions, that's too painstaking a job to do. I'm only passing a point across to you not to use a label because of its sensitivity. Clearly, you understand that. Why you want to make it confrontational beats me. -Lord |
Buhari this table you're shaking. One full tribe dey stand on top am ooo. -Lord |
InvertedHammer:I take it from your reply that you haven't ever researched partners at hedge funds. Here's an excerpt on partners at Goldman Sachs (just a bank not a hedge fund), "Partners always wear suits, even when going for a smoke," says the senior banker. "You always know the MDs who want to make partner," she adds. "They have new suits. They start wearing their jackets. They grow beards."Link -- https://news.efinancialcareers.com/us-en/242688/secret-dress-codes-investment-banks You think these MDs don't have "returns/results"? Why then are they putting in the effort to pass off the "I'm successful and I look like success" message? It's part of their MO. That's high finance. Surgeons don't have to do same for their job, they only have to put on scrubs. Eventually, if they're looking to become directors at centers where they have to kiss a$$, they'd have to tune up, buy more expensive tux and dinner dresses. It's social interaction/making an impression 101. You don't escape it. You only get one chance to make a first impression and if you're about to land an HNWI as a partner, you don't go looking like a pauper or like you just stepped out of a golf course. It shows you have no pride in your job, no respect for your client, and if the client doesn't like you, no amount of results/returns will get him/her to sign up. He'd take his/her money elsewhere. The richest 10% of the world population control 76% of the world's wealth. In America, the richest 10% own 84% of all stocks. If you want a slice of that huge pie, you can't afford to treat each prospective client like he is replaceable. He could very well be your last as word travels quickly in their circles. You impress, you flatter, you do everything to get that account. And if a five figure limited edition Patek will get your foot in the door, you'd buy it. You call it the movies, it's someone else's reality. And to your nonsense about blacks at the bottom. In individual professional settings, blacks excel. And they play the game. Do some research, it'd do you good. And do you see how you went straight into doing racial profiling, like you've got nothing else to back your opinion. Inferiority complex is dangerous. Wean yourself off of it. -Lord |
TheCabal:Have you answered any of the questions in my last response to you? You are either an ID*OT or a F**L! Why not you explain to us how demanding for Leah to be released by Christians is religious bigotry? I'll expose all this your st*pid BS! Are the Catholics protesting the killing of Catholic priests religious bigots or not? Answer and expose yourself for the unproductive, senseless animal that you are. Answer the questions. -Lord |
greyham:Which reinforces the need to pile maximum pressure and not let the only Christian captive be used as a cliffhanger in their plot. -Lord |
eph12:No. Seriously, you guys should read na? Haba! If you guys know about these challenges in-depth, politicians wouldn't be playing childish games with you. @OP, please edit the thread to make it easier on the eyes. To the topic, the plan seems reasonable, although I have issues with certain parts of it ($200b cannot give us 160,000 MW in Nigeria, there is virtually nothing on Nigeria's shambolic structure that needs an overhaul, and a good portion of it is wishful thinking). However, it is a decent plan that proves the person behind it understands most of our problems to a commendable degree. The problem however has always been implementation. For example, it has taken over 2 years for a policy on 3rd-party metering to be set up. It would take at least another 2 years before it begins to solve any problems. And that's just one tiny spoke in the wheel of the power sector, much more the economy as a whole. We have Acts that have even been passed into law that have practically been abandoned (or at least relegated to the sidelines). We've spent the better part of a decade debating the PIB in the Nat'l Assembly. So color me pessimistic, but instead of these lofty plans with pomp and grandeur, we need micro plans with less headline-grabbing objectives that tackle select issues, and that more importantly, take our socio-economic and geopolitical eccentricities into account. For example, we rid the country of Polio (with priceless help from International partners) and everyone pitched in even though there were hiccups along the way. No one can say that corruption, bureaucracy bottlenecks, or the infrastructure deficit (poor road networks to the rural areas, poor primary healthcare, et cetera) didn't bedevil the FG-led eradication effort. Yet, there was success. Belabored, of course, but it was actualized. In my opinion, we need to do the same about several other issues that abound in virtually all the sectors of our economy from metering to double taxation to port reforms to lending rate to wastage. Break up the big issues into small bits, prioritize the most crucial ones and strive for small successes that are a lot more achievable rather than big wins that are infinitely difficult to bring to fruition because of obvious reasons. -Lord |
Good. Instant Karma! -Lord |
Daeylar:According to some news coming from Dapchi and the FG (specifically the IGP) this week, it appears they are about to release her. Whether it is being done to pacify the Christian crowd because of the Fulani herdsmen and Catholic Priest killings/Nationwide Catholic protests; I can't be sure. But I'd be elated that she is released. Virtually everyone but her mother failed her. -Lord |
koice:And I could say the same about your comment. -Lord |
koice:Clearly, this will be a drawn out back and forth if continued so I wouldn't pursue it further. In closing, My point is simple: You can't use the "cult" tag recklessly and loosely, especially considering the sentiments that tag conjures up. And it is very evident in that if you did a poll on this thread (or the forum in fact) to identify how many believe the RCCG is a cult, the overwhelming majority would choose the "NO" option. Yet you just labeled both the RCCG and CoS as cults. You called Elizabeth a cult member. And so if we're to go with your train of thought, then RCCG members from the VP to the artisan on the street are also cult members. As so it'd also be hypocrisy for an actor who is a RCCG member to play a member of the Ogboni Confraternity in a local home video since both are cults. You see what I did there? It's not just about your opinion. It is also about perception. Which implies that we should be careful about our comments in the public sphere. The CoS is a religion. PS: I'm not well versed in conspiracy theories. It isn't a theory that some ex POTUS's are members of the Order of Skulls and Bones (for instance, the Bushes). It is an established fact that they don't hide. Here's a Wikipedia list of prominent members -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Skull_and_Bones_members. The influence of the Bohemian Groove is an open secret. You don't get to cherry pick these things. I'm only saying if you opine that the CoS is a cult for being shady, I can point you to a million other more mainstream orgz that are shadier and you wouldn't call cults. -Lord |
TheCabal:And only daft people think humans aren't social creatures. There have been several xenophobic attacks against multiple nationalities in South Africa, yet it is that of Nigerians that Nigeria and its people care about. Would you also say it's only the lives of Nigerians that matter. Better take this st*pid assymetrical bullsh*t far away. If Christians can't rally around a Christian teenager abducted, who'd rally around for her? If Nigerians don't talk about Nigerians killed extra-judicially outside the shores, who would? If the Middle Belters don't make a big deal out of the killings of their kinsmen, who would lead the fight? Dumb f*ck! Leah Sharibu is a member of the Christian family in Nigeria. A family does not abandon a member in distress. Nonsense... "So Leah is more important than other girls in captivity." Why not you tell us how each of the other 90+ Muslim girls are more important than Leah? Why they deserve to stay only 3 weeks in custody and Leah deserves to spend 3 months plus in custody? Why the FG can send money and release murderers so all the Muslims girls can be freed with an heroic welcome but could not do same for the only Christian girl? And Christians are looking like zombies. Waste of Oxygen! Quote me again. You think I'd pander to your sentimental rubbish! -Lord |
Leah Sharibu! Apparently Christians have roughly the same population as Muslims in this country, yet the only Christian girl in the Dapchi kidnap was not released and Christians go to Church praying to a Sky Daddy to release her. Whatever happened to unending protests and unrelenting pressure from Christians. How can the Muslim girls spend less than 3 weeks in captivity, while the only Christian girl stays in captivity for 3 months. Thank heavens I'm not a Christian. Very spineless, useless bunch. I'm sure if it were the other way around, the Muslims would be a lot more reactive. Heck even the Jews and Hindus with this kind of population wouldn't be this undisturbed about the plight of a teenage vulnerable adherent in hostile custody. -Lord |
Origin:LAWD have mercy! PS: After reading the whole thread, n*gga must be kicking himself why he came on here to share his troubles. Anyway the way out is clear enough. It's up to him to use the innate intelligence he clearly has not been using. -Lord |
InvertedHammer:You have no idea. You should spend relative to what you are worth. A fake $300 Rolex and a $10,000 Rolex do not both just tell the time. A $10k Rolex is more accurate and precise than a fake $300 Rolex. Read about watches. And when you enter a room with top shots, a 10k Rolex will buy you more goodwill than a fake 3h Rolex. Say you're a partner at a hedge fund with an eight to nine-figure net worth, looking to sign on a nouveau rich Chinese client, who flew you on a chartered Gulfstream to meet him in his fourth home in the French countryside; you don't want to show up like Zuckerberg showing up at work (even though he is much richer). You want to show up in a four-figure custom suit, a five-figure limited edition Patek Phillipe and a Ferragamo pair of dress shoes. Heck, the Patek Phillipe may kick off the conversation, warming you up to the client. Now, if you had a six-figure windfall and do not have the same profile as the hedge fund partner, do you go all out to splurge on such luxury items? F*ck no! You may be able to afford it, but buying it is not an informed decision. Want to know how to manage your finances? Watch how the old money spend. If you've got a big void on the inside, spending a ton wouldn't fill it, but so will not spending. Striking a balance is harder than it looks. It's an art. -Lord |
koice:No one on the planet can outlaw a Roman Catholic Order. The Pope is a head of state. The Church is older than most European countries. SoC is being outlawed. Catholic Orders were exterminated like pest in the Middle Ages. Heck the foremost Catholic military order that fits the cult tag like a glove in them days--the Knight Templars--were thrown under the bus by the Pope himself. Members were tortured and executed. Today, no one dares cross Catholic Orders because they're untouchable, not because they don't fit the cult tag. And there are many cults in the developed world that aren't outlawed. From the Order of Skull and Bones (with former US Presidents as members) to the Bohemian Groove. No one really knows who the SoC screwed up with. Apparently, they launched a multi-national operation against the Feds (both in the US and major Western nations) and got found out. Like they were the first or that the Knights of Malta doesn't have eyes and ears in over 100 embassies on the planet. If powerful European nations are after them, it's either some sh*t is spooking them or there's some turf war. So you can't use the outlawed stuff as a proof of them being a cult. All popular religions have members who occupy powerful positions in the society and who would use such authority where necessary and possible to protect their beliefs and organization. Even In Nigeria, we have 3 high profile cult like Institutions: RGGC, SCoAN and Christ Embassy. Yup. Their respective members just don't know it yet. In a saner clime like USA, Germany, France and Norway, such institutions will be paying taxes just like any other other business or outrightly outlawed. And this is why I said you shouldn't use the cult tag so loosely, because people would misinterpret it. Very few people on here would agree with you that RGGC/RCCG, SCoAN, Christ Embassy et al are cults. And in the USA, em sects would be very welcome. They have so many analogs over there--the Joel Osteen crowd. You're right, SoC is not the only religious like organization that has been investigated by the feds. Remember the Branch Davidians? It was a commune with crazy ideas not disimilar to the ones SoC are currently promoting. We all know how it turned out, don't we?The norm always changes. And if you're going to be really literal with that definition, most mainstream orgz are cults. From military special forces to a small informal online community of people with peculiar sexual interests. Which is another reason why I say using the cult tag for SoC is in bad taste. It is a religion. Like Wicca, Laveyan Satanism et al. People are weird and in this age of unprecedented freedom of association, people would continue to have gatherings that are "unorthodox." Can't use the label for everyone. That's muddling things up. -Lord |
koice:True, we shouldn't derail the thread. But if you look up the meaning of the word 'cult,' you'll see it is very broad. And it's connotative meaning is often sinister and loosely applied, sometimes without merit. CoS is as much a cult as over a dozen Roman Catholic Orders. I'm talking orders that'd send shills down your spine if you learned of their MO and how much influence they have. And let's not start with the myriad of New Age Movements. Yet people (at least most by the way) don't accord others the same treatment as CoS because of its profile and the bad rap it seems to ooze. The CoS is a religion. You may not like how it operates or its beliefs but I think calling it a cult is in poor taste. Moreso if you're going to use it to pin a hypocritical label on Elizabeth. The CoS is not the only religious organization (not traditional cults mind you) that has been investigated by the Feds for wrongdoing. I'd check Patrick Melrose out. -Lord |
Stupid Kim. Thinking he'd get concessions out of Trump by being a brat. Well lookie, it's not Obama. Maximum pressure continues. -Lord |
koice:The Church of Scientology isn't a cult. They've got crazy beliefs, but what religious sect doesn't. How's Patrick Melrose btw? -Lord |
Say it like it is! -Lord |
Thank you POTUS! -Lord |
Throwback:Imbec*ll*c ignoramus! The book has already been released. And it was applauded by Mo Ibrahim, Gordon Brown et al. BTW, if you want a copy, I'd check if a friend of mine who brought some in has any left. Said he sold 50 copies in 3 days. Since you make enough in a month that some make in a year, you should put your money where your mouth is. PS: The book was not written only to launder GEJ's image. It was mainly written to add to the discussion on how best the West can support the anti-corruption fight in developing countries, as she has the ears of key members of the global order. PPS: In a recent interview, she was talking about she and others were discussing about setting up an International fund to support people who help fight corruption in developing countries after they leave positions of authority. As there is very little incentive for people to risk it all to fight graft in power when they could easily join in. She specifically gave an example of Ribadu who was provided resources by the Norwegian government for 18 months after OBJ's tenure so he could settle in after the turmoil. I'm positive you don't know any of these, because in your sick, empty skull; you are trying to make GEJ appear bad 3 years after he left power. Well get on with it, nonsensical irrelevant buff**n! -Lord |
