I'm working on getting a good laptop and I'm also working on doing a training in Software Dev.... so that once God answers my prayers and I'm out of this country ...I'll be able to stand out when the opportunity presents itself!!! ...dou my desire was to go into CISCO NETWORKING cos I love the SECURITY PATH that's why KROGER got my attention!!! Software Dev would be cheaper for me...but CISCO WOULD BE EXPENSIVE CONSIDERING THE COST OF TRAINING and CERTIFICATION!!! .....Dou I also have love for Software Dev too!!!

I graduated with the least of grades "PASS" from one of the federal universities, not because i was a numskull but because i did not join the band wagon of the "sorters". More so i was financially inept which resulted in missing some exams, but after 4 years the war was over. With my kind of grade the future was deem for me with no hope. I took some computer programming courses to add to my CV i thought it would be of help. Alas four years on no single interview, i was roaming the streets without hope

God finally answered my call and i travel to the united states for greener pastures, i enrolled for a six months IT course and after completion i received my first phone interview from one of the telecom company and later on skype interview. after three days i was called for a one on one interview at their corporate office. It was straight forward with three interviewers, they asked about my skills and what i could do , which i told them with great confidence. A system was brought in and i was asked to configure bla bla bla which i did. To my amazement none asked a question pertaining my degree what they where hammering on was on the job.

After completion i was given the job instantly to resume the following Monday with a well furnished office and a very good pay. Right Now i am the manager of my team of which i developed a standard software for the company that remains number one.

My point is why is Nigeria hell bent on class of degree rather what the individual has to offer.There are lots of talented 3rd class and pass job seekers out there if given a chance will perform far better. I think this is also one of the bane that is making the Nigerian economy a far cry, it hurts seeing the lower class graduates not given a chance. I weep for Nigeria. I recently sent my resume to one of the Nigerian job boards just to test if i will be contacted but no call as usual maybe because of my lower degree . Nigeria has a very long way to go, even the oyibos that taught us the system isn't even using it its just so annoying.

For all those with a lower degree believe in yourself, a paper should not define your worth but rather look inward and surely you will conquer.

I wanna go into NETWORK SECURITY but the Cost of training and cost of certification!!! is expensive!!! so I wanna go into Software Dev 1st then I'll later try my hands on NETWORK SECURITY following the CISCO ROUTE........ I JUST WANNA GIVE MY FAMILY A BETTER LIFE!!!

If you come across the $12 $13 $14 gang of people that's how far u gonna go cos ur mentality will be wired on that amount/job.

One funny thing is i Asked GoodFaith what tools he is using as a cyber security admin and he mentioned the two important tool the same guy is using to making over nearly a $million dollar of which I am currently studying I was surprised he mentioned them.. Information is at ur beck and call utilize it, learn from people, even if it seems too good.to be true still do ur research. Folks are.making 6 figures easily the difference between u and them is information.

One other proven way of breaking into $18 to $22 dollar mark with lesser manual labor is QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN.. Pay depends on industry, The biotechnology(Medical device) companies pay far more.. There are few specific knowledge you need to know to be a quality tech like GDP(good documentation practice) which is unavoidable in this field. You can do a research in it..

Another thing is knowing how to measure with tools like digital calipers, micrometers also check on Youtube to know how to use them its very easy. Also learn about SPC software (statistical process control) it gives u an edge on your resume..

Once in the field you can start getting your ASQ certifications, in quality tech etc just check the ASQ website to know which certification to start with and move higher, you can move higher to get lean six sigma (black and green belt) to become a quality manager/engineer which pays from 70k to 100k plus.

If interested I have a well detailed resume that will get u an interview all you need is study the resume and do a research on some tools states in the resume and you will be hired. The truth of the matter is irrespective of which company highers you, you will still get trained on their SOP/PROCEDURE that is to say u can learn on the job and gather the necessary experience.

This is one of the problems with Nigerians, always talking down on what u seem far fetched.. There are lots of Nigerians doing $13, $14 per hour job who need info to better their lives and u here trying to make jest.. The most important thing is to learn the basics of algorithms/software development in general. Regardless if the programming language that's used to learn it. Once that is mastered, you can easily move to any language that you need to get the job done. Also, continuous learning and retooling is very important. As this is a dynamic area, and things keep changing. Remember, the programming language is just a tool to get the job done. So once you learn how to get the job done, you can use any tool at your disposal to achieve that. For example, I'm doing java now, but when I went to school, Java was just beginning to show its face. So learnt programming using a totally different language in school.
