Some commentators stand on the premise that his alleged involvement and witch hunt was because of how he dealt with and kept at bay the insurgents. The question is: On the review of the stewardship of the former SOAS; How did the arms and tanks and APC meant for the Nigerian army found is way into the camp of the enemy without any prior record of the boko haram breaking into our barracks? Also, what led to the death of many civilians especially in Bama caused and perpetrated by the same NA that was suppose to protect them? Again, why would northerners create a monster in its back yard to cripple it economically?( it doesn't make political sense). Lastly, of all people, boko haram named Ihejirika, is there any gain in this 'arrangement or set up by the boko haram? DID IHEJIRIKA EVER DEALT WITH THE SECT? Except may be offcourse, the word dealt and wade off or defeated has another different meaning. |

Quite a revelation! The whole event and intrigue is suddenly begining to add up. It is evident from the article that the creation of boko haram was for political reason to destabilise the north, cause anarchy and completely render it handicapp socio -ecomically since the north appears as the most singular entity that has challenged the eligibility and emergence of Mr. President. That explain why the combatant soldiers give insight over the quality of sophisticated arms used by the insurgents against the crude arms given to them despite the huge budgetary allocation to that end. In another instance, the locals witnessed helicapta deliverying aids to the insurgents, a report corroberated by the Nigerian senate. Who could fly our air space without being detected if not gov't saboteurs. The insistence of Mr. President to label the north culpable of the UN building could as well be the genesis of the under lying plan hatch to out run the north in a bid to disconfiscate its political stability. Ihejirika, a southern became the best hand at that point to realise this agenda, an agenda to create and fund an arm group(with foreign commanders) to hold the north hostage with barrage of attack and maiming of its people. |

We are actually missing the point here. The involvement of Ihejirike isn't that he was one of their financier but he was involve in arms deal for economic reason. Everyone how easily he could use his office, bend to the wishes of the actual financial sponsors and trade ammunitions with the insurgents. |

It is apparent that even though your post appeared objective and neutral, it gave away the feelings of your subtle attempt to ridicule the findings of the Australian. First, the credibility of the Austee over the years as a negotiator for the Fg cannot be undermine. It is logical that neither the Austee or boko haram has nothing to gain to mention Modu Sheriff and the former army boss as accomplice. We ask for evidence, we had one, why the barrage of denials? The sound of your tune already suggest what side you have already taken. Nevertheless, our collective resolve is to squeeze the Federal agencies to work on the only available evidence before us except if you have any. The extensiveness of his investigation didn't start yesterday and must not be sabortage under the pretense of making more demans or findings to be made available. The political and economic reason that allegedly implicated Sheriff and Ihejirike cannot be wish away just yet. Expect Ihejirike to also make counter claims. SOS, may not have started it, but with the connivance of Ihejirike, they fueled and aggreviated the whole process. No one can be trusted in a politics of fraud and corruption. Boko haram would have no reason to mention these two prime suspects if they never had anything to do with it. Beside, the Austee got his information not just from one bh commander, but from other several ones who confided in him. The exposure of Modu Sherrif and Ihejirike was a business deal gone sour. According to the report, Ihejirike emergence and the introduction of the 7th armoured brigade completely demobilised the proactiveness of the CJTF who all the while had prevented the re-grouping of the insurgents. Also, some of the army commanders who were conversant with the terrain were redeployed on the ground of sabatage. The crux of this information doesn't exactly focus on the alleged complicity of the former army chief but on his poor professional handling of the crisis. Further more, the evident death and destructions of civilian lives and properties respectively by the NA under the watchful eyes of Ihejirike was also captioned independently. Could it have cost the former COAS staff anything to collect bribe, kill civilians, supply bh with arms, enrich himself and allow them to reign for all he cares, after all, it was a northern affair? 1 Like |

The former army chief was probably more of a business man selling arms to the terrorists than a security personnel protecting lives. It was alleged that the terrorist group had access to more of our arms during Ihejirike reign than any COAS. Also, more civilians were killed by the NA than they bh during the time the former army chief held sway. Nobody is outrightly saying he was guilty, but it is in the interest of our great country that we must argue constructively and not to be blinded by tribalism. |

The former COAS could possibly be responsible for selling arms and amunitions to bh. Remember, it is evident that most of the arms used by the insurgents were from the NA and that was the period Ihejirike was the army chief. He could be the link btw Sheriff and bh. Evidently, Iherijiki was the arms contractor or dealer btw the both parties. While Sheriff and other unnamed politicians provides the money, Ihejirike supplies the ammunitions. All this remain speculative, even at that, we just can't conclude yet as to his involvement or not. Also remember, that the Australian didnot depend on one source to come to this conclusion. This was an on going investigation that span over 2yrs or now, and it could be safe to say that, he knows the consequences of maliciously implicating a top Army officer. This was a man that has worked for several successive gov't and he should know where to draw the line btw falsehood and truth. I think at this point, the most honourable thing to do is to allow the Federal Agency to do their interrogation, cos it will be too early to attack the findings on a tribal basis laden with religious sentiment. bolaino: true, true, but let's not politicize this issue, I am not absolving the president of any blame, he is the president and thus if the country succeeds or fails it's on him, what I'm trying to say in essence my Good man, is that there seems to be incompetence on the part of the army, it's obvious seeds of mutiny have been planted in the army, the army is divided and insurrection is taking hold on them, morale is low and I believe it has a lot to do largely on their capabilities, once in their lives they are been faced with fearless terrorists and it's scaring them to hell, this tells you the stuff our armed forces are made off. Why is the army unable to reclaim land that are being controlled by insurgents, there is no reason for them not to have been able to take back these lands, is boko haram in control of nuclear war heads or fighter jets? Or is there something the army is not telling us.I appreciate your civil response. However, we can't accuse them yet of not showing willingness when most of their demands remain unattended to. For as long as the gov't and top military brass continue to pay lip services, expect more insurrection and mutany from the soldiers. The insurgents have nothing to lose, at best, their indocrination is enough motivation, but the same can't be said of our military men who are conscious of their families and the fact that the gov't is doing very little in terms of logistics and packages to encourage them to give their all. 1 Like |

As unstable as water are Igbos politically. Forever prostituting from one political party to another for wrong sentimental reasons. While there is nothing wrong in endorsing a canditate of another party on the basis of popularity and credibility, however, the brazing display of solidarity and loyalty of Apga to Pdp through body language, verbal expression and demonstrations shows a sold out party that lack the common basic principle that make up one. Agpa has been bought and buried, so also is the political future of Indigbo. One thing Agpa failed to know is that, the northernern they love to hate has it strong hold in the pdp and in the absence Gej, only the Sw and middle belt are close to rank. Apga, in its attack throws all cautions to the air leaving no discreation and ended up making too many enemies. The president has declared martial law in the 3 most affected states, it is left for the Army to enforce the martial law, we have seen videos of military men fleeing in combat, for reasons best known to them, I wish the military victory in it's ongoing campaign, but it seems the military men are scared, the reason a soldier would run from something is because he is scared of dying, and why would you be a soldier and be scared of dying? You can't exonerate the president from the failure of the NA, he remains the C in C and any malfunction in the army is directed at him. The guy you quorated gave reasons why the soldiers abandon their posts, and here you are defending your principal. Is it too much for the army to ask to be well equipped? And whose responsible is it to equip them? And who should ensure that the money meant to equip them well utilized? Finally, who has the power to arrest and prosecute if the money isn't used for the purpose it was meant for? These are the duties of Mr. President and all the various Federal agencies he put in place cos, the success of the NA is exclusively shared by the President. For Mr. President supporters, you guys are in for a shock. Apc is the least of your worries. The primary will prove a hard nut to crack. The aggrieved northerners who felt they were robbed due to the failure of pdp to stick to the rotational arrangement will show their true colour. The fact that this gov't isn't as popular in the north unlike the Obj's gov't that the north fear and respect, you would want to imagine the urgency there is by the northerners to utilise the power of number to sack the incumbent. You begin to wonder the senselessness of our youth who have allowed ethnic bigotry and clannishness to so blind their sense of judgement to differentiate between excellence and mediocrity. A well functional gov't need no advertorial image laundry to give the impression of performance. What happen to the pallate 'that your work speaks for you'. We are living in an evil, ungodly time where some had thrown away the fear of God to side with their cravings for self gratification.
