tijjanioyan: my sister if it is as easy as u said there wont be corrupt leaders in nigeria.if a leader knows dat he/she can easily be shown d way out if performance is below average he/she wont abuse d office/post.GOD bless dis country abundantly yet we're wallowing in poverty.many foreign analysts always say dat nigeria is too rich to be poor.leave d jonathians alone let dem be supporting d administration dubbed by d international community "d most corrupt one "in d history of d nation democracy.Mature, reasonale and sensible. God knows the appropriate time to appoint the right person. Even at that, we can't remain docile not doing anything. Being proactive through activism could give signal over our collective seriousness. |
OneNaira6: The question she asked is actually interesting and begs for an answer.May be you need a brain transplant to see that you don't make baseless assumptions on an issue as sensitive as bombing without factual prove to substantiate your claim. What is there to see? Is that what is obtainble in other serious clime where top security spokes person will just conjugate security issues baselessly? What makes her assumption different from a normal beer parlour gist? Secondary school students could make better interpretation. What is professional here that warrant any normal walking human being trumping up support for her? Only political vampires make sense of this whole episode. |
aresa: Here we have a taxpayers funded security service with nothing better to do, with lack of any ability or capacity to protect Nigerians, to prevent the same bomb blast they are constantly playing politics with, to prevent terrorists from killing and kidnapping Nigerians, but with a whole lot of time and vigor to lay politics, spread and peddle rumors daily, spew innuendos with reckless abandonment, utter baseless and unsubstantiated trash like market women...aresa, you just captured the overall picture of this agency with this descriptive analysis. Never in history have we had to contend with so much unprofessional conduct, utterances and general attitude from our security forces like what is obtainable now. After all this weighty, unsusbtantial accusations or assumptions, how has that better the lots of our security force? Her body language certainly betrays her attempt to politicised the once revence DSS. |
aresa: We sat here and railed against the likes of Gbega Daniel, OBJ, Akala and others regardless so where people come from makes no difference when it comes to right and wrong, unfortunately, all you people see is tribe. Tribe is the beginning and end of everything ibo. Tribe to you comes first before right and wrong hence your bigoted, hateful and paranoid state of existence.I will be correct to say that you have a first hand knowledge of the characteristics of the igbos. One word describe these folks: tribalism. It comes first before the religion they profess or hold tantamoursly to. Most unfortunately is how they have spread this prejudice even among themselves. For example, folks from Enugu state are hardly considered true igbos not to mention what they term irrelevant Ebonyi. This is how unfortunate and discriminating these people are. It will be interesting to take a study of these people to find out where and from whom they originated from, that may give us an idea the cause root of their arrogance and tribalism. |
clevadani: well it doesn't surprise me anymore. it seems most of igbo leaders are shortsighted and are only attracted to d honey at d centre. They've refused to make future alignments dat will enable dem to get to d presidency. They are all interested in dia pockets.Jeez, that is pathetic giving up on their lord and master Ojukwu. The Abacha one million march easily comes to mind how the Igbo elites shamefuly threw all caution to the air to line up behind the terrant after money has changed hand. This is the same situation today. A situation of changing allegiance not base on calculative political foresight but on the basis of clannishness and needless sentiment. The future is reserve for idealogists and strategists and not for pity parties with burden or load of yesterday. |
AkinEgba: Should Igbos (or any other group for that matter) be the one going around asking a political party to accept them? How does campaign work in the US and elsewhere? Do Latinos go begging the GOP to accept them, or it's the other way round? If APC wants Igbo votes they should work for it. Otherwise keep your party.Apc was outrightly rejected and labelled an Islamic party right from day one by the Igbos and the few like Rochas that joined were treated with disdained and scorned. How do you appeal to people who publicly made it clear you are not good for them. They have threaten brime stone and fire to any Igbo that align with Apc. This my friend is the height of hate and prejudice the nurse against the 'islamic party'. No campaign will reverse a self deceived mind of pride and arrogance. Is our hope that the few exceptional ones will damn the consequences and take step towards political correctiveness. |
Is like history keep repeating itself, this time politically and these people (Igbos) haven't learnt a thing from it. The politics of emotions and unnecessary hate remains their bane, while the youths you expect would have make correction from the unfortunate mistake of pride embarked by their elders have willingly carried the same batton of deceit which apparently will be catastrophic. Never in history have we seen a people totally lacking in political ideology like the igbos. Ready to pinch tent with anyone/anything that offer instant pleasure. Paraventure APC wins the presidential, majority of these people will find reason or excuse to line behind it. When you turn every region into an enemy, who will stand behind you in the day of evil. As it is today, no region can wholly say they trust the SE not even the SS because of its inconsistency. God help the good stocks among these army of boasters. |
nextstep: The movie critique is missing two critical pieces:And how has the Nolly wood influence our lives with their conspiracy tales? It's mediocare to exalt Nolly wood with flaws evident for all to see. The idea is to sell our story lines to the outside with well scripted and presentable movies(except offcourse we are contented with being local champions with massive production and no substance). Exactly what is there to take from Nolly wood other than repeated story lines from one producer to another. South African movie is light ahead of this so call Nolly wood. In all honesty, how many serious minded Nigerians dedicate their spare time watching Nolly wood film other than full house wives who used to hold their husbands hostage and their mother in laws ransome? |
safarigirl: A thousand gbosas to speedyboi for that awesome post abeg.Yeah right, and you think we should keep acting stupidly just for some worthless recognition abi? We must be original, that i agree, but producing crap like the one you mentioned to satisfy the white man's curiosity is an insult to our pride. Nolly wood remain a bag of gabbage that have no space when true movie premier or festivals are mentioned. The unprofessionality and quality depicts the sorry state of things here, the unseriousness and the pechant for gains rather than quality. Comparing south African movie production and Nolly wood is like comparing heaven and earth. |
How we love to celebrate mediocrity above excellence. Put these two tribes side by side with their counterparts in other developed nations and all you have is just glorify degrees. We have over 360 tribes in this country, singly out just two as most successful shows the confused state of the Igbo poster. The two tribes had the advantage of acquiring western education before others and after that so what. How has this feat rob or impact positively on the rest ethnicity? With due respect, if Shonikan and Achebe are they best we can present after these years, we sincerely need a head check. There is no valid perimeter to deduce who has accomplished among all the ethnic groups represented. Achievement or accomplishment is an individual thing. So op, please don't divide us further us with your inferiority complex. |
Kaduna as well. |
Between Suswan and Orji i wonder who takes the back seat. I blame followers for not being proactive enough to challenge public servants. This is the same docility and non action that Nigerian youths are known for, always complaining on social media but too afraid to organise themselves to hit the street to demand their constitutional rights. These leaders understand this and they are taken advantage of it. |
The Presidency should not embark on a journey they can't complete. Kano state gov't has constantly published reports of its expenditure, and information of their performance is there on the dailies for all to see. The politics of witch hunt by the pdp gov't is a wrong political move that may eventually swallow them. We know that accountability is not a virtue of pdp gov't, so why the push. |
Fasholo and Nda Isaiah will make a couple. This calculation would obviously deliver the whole south west to Fashola, while the middle belt will happily vote for Isaiah. Nda Isaiah being a Christian and a detribalist would split the vote of easterners especially those who lived outside of their religion. In the south south, consider people of Edo and part of Delta to deliver their votes to Fasholo. Finally, the north has no choice than to consider the religion of Fashola and the region of Nda Isaiah to endorse them. |
A third world country surely don't appreciate the essence of freedom. What is shelter, cloth, money and other free gifts from gov't when your personal freedom is subjected? What were those free this, free that when Libyans were constantly living in terror? Libyans didn't have a say of their own. Gaddaffis men, sons, relatives and aids were running everything while Libyans were constantly being monitored against making any remark on the head of state. It was hell in Libya. They were practically living in a cage without the right to make contributions or express themselves. Life is not all about houses, cars, free medical or school. Life is about expression and freedom of association. We shouldn't become too conscious of material things against our personal rights and opinions. It's even on record that Ghadafi was a major sponsor of Islamic terrorists. Those were among some of the reasons he was toppled. Like every other sectarian upheaval definitely, his loyalists who were thrusted out would want to farment trouble hence the skirmashes in Libya. Libyans deserve times ten(10) what Ghadafi was offering considering their population and the interest accrue to their oil. For those who don't know, it was in Ghadafis' plan to rule and Islamised Africa funding several terrorist arms. Ghadafi was like an over spoilt child with too much money to throw around without caution. The west saw into his threat and did the needful. Hopefuly, Libyans will bounce back stronger than before from this jihadist. |
From experience, Obj's gov't was by far the most trying moment for Nigerians. I still remember the sharp increase of food stuffs especially rice and sugar. Common Nigerians actually suffered back then. The persistent hike in fuel price was traumatising to many Nigerians who had to pay double transport fare to their destination. The none availability of the petroleum product cost transport workers alot. The epilepsy of power was yet one area that primarily led to the closure and relocation of many industries to our neighbouring countries. Under his supervision, we witnessed several avoidable secterian crisis(declaration of sharia). It could have been avoided if he had intervened. Presently, no functional textile company in Kaduna, the largest employer of labour then. The all shut down under his watch. But in all honesty, he brought value to the civil service force. The increase of their wages and living condition remain a plus. The policy of inclusiveness where every state or ethnicity has a representive at the executive could be consider appropriate, though subjective. The audacity he demonstrated to curb corruption though selective and sometimes questionable is largely commendable. The militarise attitude he displayed put every intending trouble maker to flight e.g Niger delta militant even though some of the measure was undemocratic, could be considered fair. In over all, he believe in Nigeria and he is detribalise. |
Most appaling is the sharp contrast in division along ethno religious line. The northern elders undoubtedly have their share of blame for given very little attention to the insurgency, but that is not to excuse the inability of the gov't to arrest it right on time. The bulk still stops at the F.G's table to ensure the safety of innocent men and women in the trouble states. The easterners see no harm to malign, insult and ridicule the north forgetting that innocent northerners are worst affected and not the suppose northern sympathisers. Views and opinions here shows the unnecessary hatred and partisanship most people harbour for the north. If these opinions reflect the views of youths from a particular region, i must say how disappointing i am. These are hateful, revengeful comments lacking in critical national thinking. Tell me, how can such delusional, clannish mindsets if given the opportunity can steer the ship of the nation. What we have now are youths who think less with their head and more about their stamach. Insensitivity has clog their minds from separating objectivity from mediocrity. People ever ready to swing their loyalty where their personal than national interest lies. That is the pathetic state of the EASTERNERS. |
HAH: Middle belt is just another name for Christian northerners association, if not how can someone from Michika or Biu be claiming middle belt, kwarans don't call themselve middle belt they either align with west or call themselves north central ,same with Niger people they don't call themselves middle belt but north central, the only states that call themselves middle belt are those from former Benue-Plateau state.Earlier, i politely ask you of your age. If you are old enough then you should know that the agitation for middle belt was in vouge while the northern oligarch were still passing the baton of power. This thing didn't start today and to accuse them as opportunists is evident of your knowledge of history. Secondly, to say some middle belt individuals benefitted from the north openly displayed the politics of nepotism and selection leaders in the north are known for where you get consideration on the bases of your affiliation with them. This obviously is the prejudice or discrimination that the middle belt is running from. The potentials in the region both human and material are inestimable and only an opportunity to have their political will that they can unlocked all these treasures. Kwara or Niger may not claim the middle belt due to the forbearance of the hausa/fulani influence, but they are a small fraction of the bigger picture. |
ofala: My brother, my point there is that the removal of any of their members from whatever position is their in-house situation..If you had read the whole article, you probably have read where the General said that his endorsement of the President is a personal decision outside of whatever agreement they had at ACF. Whatever you choose to call his action, one is clear and that is, Mr. Onoja never cease to tell anyone who cares to listen on his support for the President, a position Acf know of beside, he isn't only a member of ACF but also a respected leader in the Middle forum, a body that is directly opposite to the ACF. He only exercise his constitutional franchise without apology, fear or favour and openly too, that to me is an act of bravery, and if ACF felt betrayed, which offcourse is their business, they can simply relieved him of his membership which is approriate since the General's body had always been there but his soul had long taken a dive. |
jerseyboy: ACF has no relevance to the middle belt and Christian north. Hausa Fulani have lost the middle belt forever. Onoja knows that. He and the rest of his like are on their own when they sit at the ACF. They represent no one.Your head correct! And the elders that still grace ACF meetings does so for political crumbs. General Onoja's reaction is simply a reflection of the general feelings among the youths with respect to the north. Anyone who still co joined the two regions does so out of malice, self interest or sheer ignorance, as the cord binding them had long been broken. |

Well, i don't know how old you are or how long you have stayed in the country, but it will interest you to know that the term middle belt and its formation isn't an accidental birth but a stance that out lived the independent of this great country. Therefore, to stand on the premise that their loyalty is base on which region produces the president shows you are ignorant about history and reality. |
Go and ask anywhere, an Idoma man or person is never a coward. He stands in what he believes. He's never a backstabber and obviously doesn't speak from both sides of his mouth. Arewa has no relevance to the middle belt. This is an agitation that has been brewing for a very long time. They may have divergents of opinion base on their preferred presidential canditate but apparently, they have been disconnected from the north. It is fruitless and too late now for the north to be pulling up string to hold on the middle belt. The middle belt is independent irrespective of any region and inspite of their cultural differences, they are united more on the basis of their desire and aspiration for equality and justice something that is allien to the Hausa muslims. |
I totally agree with you op. Is a mireage or mere imagination for anyone to think for a second that this great country Nigeria will ever disintegrate. Instead, destruction and doom awaits anyone with a preconceived hatch out plan to this effect. Anyone within who felt not too comfortable with the country can apply for an asylum in any country of their choice. That being said. Op, we just have to stop the trend of pointing to the west when there are attempts to disstabilise this country. Those within who supposedly allowed themselves to be used should be our concern and finding ways to route them out should be our collective resolve. |
ochon: This is so sad.You obviously spoilt a nice post trying to equate Christianity with religion. If Islam is evil say is evil. There's no point trying to blame the wickedness one religion on another. No body who truely live, practice and understand the Christian life ever wish for something else. When a suppose Christian makes preferential to the knowledge of life and light, we know what level he's speaking from. My Christianity is life, peace, joy, prosperity and safety that a religious or non religious world can't offer or guarantee. |
*Shed tears* What have we done to deserve a religion like this. This is satan practically manifesting himself in islamists. Such horror carried out by men doing the bidding of quoranic injunction. |
Ijawboi: an also, an educated person would prove that general buhari is a stallion of integrity and honesty. Out of all the pictures there, the op deemed it fit to put "a stallion of integrity and honesty" on buhari's picture alone. That's what he is. The joke is on you to disprove his integrity and honesty. His stallion qualities are chronicles for us to see except for folks who finds fault when there is none. He remains the only leader so far in the history of this country that nobody has been able to bring any charges against. If you think there's any both as an head of state and ptf chairman, oya mr. Find fault, do justice to my curiosity. |
SantaMafia: I agree that Ghana cannot be compared with shitnigeria. |
SantaMafia: I agree that Ghana cannot be compared with shitnigeria. What better way to recognise a man's upbringing than through his choice of words. If your grieviance is base on your tiny economy Nigerians have taken over, then i will excuse your childishness, other than that, you haven't said anything sensible that worth my time, attention or response. Sorry dude, aint gat time for classless, egocentric, frustrated and out of date peeps. Shoe gat size bro. Peace. Hey, wish you luck in your paradise. |
God protect our brethren in iraq. Those monsters will stop at nothing to impose their religion on others. We don't bank on any athiestic western country to do anything since they themselves abhorred any form of religion. It is time we Christians rise up and pray, we can't at this point fold our arms and complain. Evil only prevail when good men do nothing. We must arrest this evil activities through our collective prayers. |
@Santamafia, you will fare well if you take your inferiority else where. The border line that joined the both countries is the only reason you ghanaians are seeing us as co equal. Ordinary, i don't see any comparison btw ghana and Nigeria on all strata of life. Your best match is both togo and benin republic, which i believe you share economic and population equality. We have far more serious challenges in our hands to start engaging you in childish tantrum. If a state in Nigeria, say Lagos is the size of ghana and it's economically balance and thriving than ghana, to what extent do you want to start making this comparasing. I don't blame you, but i blame my country men that have time to respond to you. We don't owe you any explanation concerning our leadership, and like any country with leadership crisis, we will eventually get it right. So if you don't mind, stop stalcking us with your unnecessary hatred, cos ordinary, average Nigerian don't consider ghanaians as economic competitors. The only time ghana may accidentally comes to mind is during football. We know our mate when we see one. So please, stop this childish misbehaviour is becoming very BORING. |
