Romance › Re: Was I Wrong To Send Money Directly To My Guy's Babe? by LordReed(m): 1:05am On Mar 26 |
DeepSight: + Good advice, but you see the bold, the truth is that many people put on the spot with such a request to "appreciate" their wife or babe for a favor done would not want to object as it could seem petty, awkward and needlessly insecure. Thus they may not say anything even if they dont like it. For your own paddy? You should be most free to say dude I don't want this. He even allowed the babe to cook for the friend to show how much their friendship seems to be good. |

Listening2: I was in town for some business and it was inevitable that I catch up with an old friend.
His babe prepared a delicious meal that she sent to me through him.
The fact that she's from my state, I had to appreciate her specially. So I asked him for her account and wired her some token of appreciation.
Even though my guy was very appreciative, I've been feeling uneasy, like I shouldn't have done that. And information reaching me right now is that he and his babe had a quarrel that same day. But I don't want to believe it's because of that.
Either way, I just want to know guys, was I wrong to send money directly to his babe? If he had any objections, he should have raised it when you asked for her account details. But since you are feeling uneasy take it as a sign to steer clear of that babe. |
Science/Technology › Re: LordReed - Revisiting The Simulation Of Reality by LordReed(m): 6:36pm On Mar 23 |
DeepSight: + Its not what if. The size of the known universe alone means this is the reality, in fact, it will only be the case that the known universe itself is probably a dot on a pinhead compare to the unknown universes, multiverses, planes, dimensions, etc. Its a very sobering thought.
And I cannot resist chooking something else inside. If it is so, there will probably be beings larger than our entire planet, larger than our entire galaxy, etc, just as we walk around beside pinheads and on one pinhead, a planet may exist.
+ This goes to the matter of object permanence which LordReed insists upon. The fact remains that if it is a program so made, we will always see an object which is programmed to be in a particular position based on the algorithm and the workings of the program. Such an object will always be accounted for. This does not mean that it is not a programmed reality, virtual reality or the result of some advanced software.
Lordreed, apologies I have taken a while, been turning around in my head how I can present the case better to your very exacting mind. No sweat bro. Lemme ask you this, how do you differentiate between base reality and a simulated one. |

DeepSight: + I actually agree with the bold and in truth there is the problem of objective and subjective morality which a lot of old posters and I debated many years ago here -
https://www.nairaland.com/1520806/evolution-morality
You might find the thread interesting.
I also created a thread about the issue here -
https://www.nairaland.com/1294489/basis-human-morality
LordReed what is your take again, I believe we have also debated this.
Tctrills, let me put this question to you: Abram is said to have heard the voice of God directly right? Ok. However through most of the OT God spoke through prophets. How would it seem to you if a man calling himself a prophet came to you and gave you the same instruction to kill your child, saying the instruction is from God. How would you react? Indeed we have bro. My stance remains all morality is subjective and sometimes it is relative. |

DeepSight: + Errrrr.... Very limited by comparison. Very very limited. And I would not personally call them mind altering effects. I would simply say habit forming effects. I know for a fact that for many smokers of tobacco its the mere relaxation of pulling that deep breath in and pushing it out coupled with the taste.
This is a very different thing from getting high either on alcohol or narcotics both of which can and do seriously change your perception and impulses. Bro it is more insidious than you think. Google "tobacco effect on the brain" and get an eye full. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Iran Executes A Man For Drinking Alcohol by LordReed(m): 3:47pm On Mar 20 |
DeepSight: + Smoking tobacco is bad for the health, but having been a long term smoker of tobacco myself in the past, I dont think it is right to equate it with mind altering substances like alcohol or narcotics. Bro tobacco has mind altering effects, that is why it becomes addictive. |

shekauvsbuhari: Amu buhari! What? Hypocrites! Yeah as if tobacco is any less a drug. Tobacco has psychoactive effects like any other recreational drug. To then harshly punish one over the other is hypocrisy of a fairly high order |

Is it that you saw a social media post that usually shapes your brain cells and rush to post it here, and when you're shown the truth, you look stew peedish for posting that, and shame won't let you accept reality? All these are blue states.

bemeruca: You left out the context and just quoted him like that, and then accused him of supporting Nazis. I am sure that if both of you were compared, you would most likely lean more towards Hitler than he would.
He was saying that people were wrong about Hitler as he argued for stronger actions against Iran.
“Nobody believed Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews and create a master race. They were wrong to miscalculate Hitler. People have miscalculated the Ayatollah and this regime for a very long time.”
“So, all of those who don’t believe that [Iran would use nuclear weapons], you’re stew peed. You’re a F 0 0 1. And I 8 to be so harsh – people got Hitler wrong.”
He immediately followed it with: “Donald Trump is the right man at the right time.”
All you people know how to do is come here and start lying. There is no context that salvages "People got Hitler wrong", either that or you're playing with less than a full deck. |

benalvino3: California became blue in the 90s. By then the state was already a pillar of the United States. All the major companies were already there. In the 80s to 90s, venture capital went nuclear.
Today it is the pinnacle of homelessness and poverty, triggering an exodus from the people who messed it up to red states. Oga I asked about New York not California. |
Science/Technology › Re: LordReed - Revisiting The Simulation Of Reality by LordReed(m): 10:59pm On Mar 10 |
DeepSight: + Not only on screens, in terms of our visual capacities. I think I was careful to say that.
The reason I first asked if you believe that space may be divided infinitely is because surely you are aware that we cannot really account for what exists between atoms, electrons and such. And that at that microscopic level it can be said that there is more "insubstantiality" than substantiality to what appears to us as hard impenetrable matter. But I didnt want to digress there, and thats why I have said well, with what we perceive visually, there are limits, and no I dont think you are right to say its limited to screens.
Nevertheless lets close the arguments in the OP as I have a treatise of my own to make. You do realise that at the so called space in the atomic is irrelevant ant the macro level right? Do you realise that are gaps between the threads that make up your suit? Does that make your suit insubstantial? These things don't scale up. Besides it doesn't mean reality is pixelated because it is made up discrete particles. |

benalvino3: That's why companies are moving to red states. Because blue states gained control. Even New York became what it is as a red state.
Some people who support communism and socialism don't want to live anywhere close to China or North Korea.
The exodus is unrelenting. A Republican Governor might spawn in California. In what period was New York a red state? |
Science/Technology › Re: LordReed - Revisiting The Simulation Of Reality by LordReed(m): 10:43pm On Mar 10 |
DeepSight: + Hypothetically, I concur. But in terms of this reality that we perceive about us, you must perforce agree that that we are limited to the building blocks of the pixels of the things we can see. There is the view that this thus discloses a formatted or programmed rendition of our reality. This is reinforced by the fact that the deeper you zoom into the images of things around you the more they lose form. Nonetheless I will not dwell too much on this argument not least because it is not the strongest one even for me. I just wanted to pass through and note it. Let us deal with the last two I mentioned in my OP before I proceed to my main argument, which I shall present to you. Ride on, I await. I thoroughly disagree. Pixels exist on screens not in the reality we share. The world around us is not pixelated, that's not a thing. |
Science/Technology › Re: LordReed - Revisiting The Simulation Of Reality by LordReed(m): 8:56pm On Mar 10 |
DeepSight: + Do you think you can divide space infinitely. Hypothetically, yes. Take a length and divide it by 2, then divide the half by 2, then again and again. You can do this infinitely. |
Science/Technology › Re: LordReed - Revisiting The Simulation Of Reality by LordReed(m): 8:37pm On Mar 10 |
DeepSight: 2. The Universe's "Pixel Rate" (The Planck Scale) In a digital world, you can only zoom in so far before you hit a pixel—a minimum unit of space. In our universe, there is a theoretical "smallest" possible length called the Planck Length.T he Sim Argument: If the universe were truly "natural" and analog, you should be able to divide space infinitely. The fact that there is a hard "resolution limit" suggests our reality may be discrete (made of bits) rather than continuous. ----Culled.
This is why I mentioned how our reality is pixelated. Zooming in one can see that it is so constructed in bits. This again is a pointer. Sorry but the Planck Length is not the theoretical "smallest" possible length. It is the smallest length that is meaningful to our current understanding of the universe. It in no way says that lengths smaller than Planck length don't exist. |

Now that it is blue, everything is decaying. Yamaha has been moving since 1999, this ain't news. |
