Explore2xmore: Despite the lack of pre-571 texts, early monotheists, such as Idris/Enoch, are counted as Muslims because submission to God is what defines a Muslim, and the 170,000-year archaeological gap does not prove ungodliness.
Consider too that perishable materials (wood, paint, dance, song) were used in rituals. Few traces were left by tiny populations. Most sites and organic materials are lost after more than 100,000 years; only stone and bone in extraordinary circumstances survive. Then I reject your categorising of any pre Mohammedean believers as Muslim. It's that simple. |
Islam › Re: Was Aisha (RA) Born Before Islam? Meaning she got married at 19 by LordReed(m): 9:20pm On Jan 17 |
Explore2xmore: The 170,000-year archaeological gap merely indicates a lack of material religion, not a lack of faith in God, which need not leave physical remnants. It is by no means conclusive proof of ungodliness. It is a resounding evidence of lack of belief in any gods as religion tends to leave behind evidence of practice which is why we have the burial sites. If they were believing in gods before that then we should have had evidence. You dismissal is inadequate especially as you provide nothing substantial to refute it except nah-uh. Meanwhile I am yet to see you provide evidence that any believers in your god were Muslims before the advent of your prophet Mohammad. Can you show any text that calls them Muslims written before 571 CE? |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by LordReed(m): 12:59am On Jan 13 |
SIRTee15: Christianity or any other religion without intelligence leads to superstition. Christianity with intelligence gives us sound theology. Christ himself said a sick man needs to see a doctor.
This is what apostle Paul was trying to explain that led to him being vilified and called names. Prior to Paul's letter, belief system and traditional practice are inseparable. what u eat, drink, how u sleep, what u wear defines your belief.
Paul was the first person to declare that your faith is independent of your tradition or custom. Your faith must be separated from superstitious believes that are largely influenced by your traditions and cultural practices.
All what Paul was saying is your FAITH should be independent of the traditions of your ancestors. It's ok to follow the traditions of your ancestors such as circumcision or dietary rules BUT those things should not define your faith because those traditions are filled with elements of superstition that beclouds the sense of rational judgement.
In the old testament, God instructed women on their periods and people with open sores not to visit the temple. There's a reason for that- it's called public hygiene. why should we continue such practice now when wound care has improved and most women have no issue with personal hygiene during period. so why should we continue to say women on their period shouldn't come to place of worship.
This is what Paul was trying to open the eyes of people to see and understand, but we all know how it ended up for him. He was attacked by fellow jews, beaten up and jailed. he is now the convenient scapegoat for muslims and even some ignorant Christians have joined in saying Paul cannot be trusted. To your case... It's common knowledge that when a child complains of recurrent tummy ache, a well trained doctor will request blood test which will include coeliac test. A good doctor will also think of food intolerance including lactose and gluten. This has nothing to do with superstition at all but good medical training. sorry your daughter had to go thru such ordeal b4 finding relieve. I mentioned my case because in the event where proper diagnosis cannot be obtained it is easy for many believers to switch to spiritualising the situation and claim it as a demonic/spiritual attack in contrast to my approach which was to dig into the medical knowledge base. We see this type of response over and over again. |

QuinQ: But it also has taboo connotations over there. Besides, the difference is too much to be accounted for by just that. I think it has a lot to do with their cold, damp, sunless environment, and exposure to high debt via credit cards and other credit facilities that easily trap the average person. Well, it still won't factor into a japa decision for me. |
Travel › Re: Japa: Comparing US/UK Suicide Rates To Nigeria's by LordReed(m): 4:24pm On Jan 12 |
QuinQ: Does nfo below tell us anything? If so, what? If not, why not? Can it possibly affect a japa decision? It's good to note that they state official rate because especially in places like ours where mental health issues and suicides have taboo connotations, they are inevitably under reported. That said I would not make a japa decision based on it, the other factors driving a japa decision would weigh far more than the suicide rate. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Atheists Be Like by LordReed(m): 12:23pm On Jan 12 |
FxMasterz: No, you used the wrong scripture. The scripture you quoted didn't place God anywhere.
I am not here to argue God's meeting place with you. I am just telling you that you wrongly quoted a scripture that didn't relate.
Intelligent human beings don't need to see N and O before they see a No. If you ask to see yes or no, the person's explained position should tell you where they stand. It's when you want to shut people up in order to gain ascendancy over them that you tell them to answer a question in one syllable. Meanwhile, the question itself was asked in many words. Every Yes or No has an explanation behind it.
The conditions in heaven are not the same as earth. Heaven and hearth don't have the same outcomes for every action. In fact, if you throw something up here, it must come down. That's not the same outcome you'll get if you did the same thing in the moon. It is wrong for you to apply earth to heaven because they're on different frequencies. How many times do I have to say this? You didn't need to say it in the first place because this is not the answer to the question I asked. You are dodging answering the question because you know it will skewer you but that's ok, I think I am satisfied at this point. LoLz. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Atheists Be Like by LordReed(m): 11:37pm On Jan 11 |
FxMasterz: You're bit getting me at all.
I'm not arguing about where the council holds. I'm arguing that the scripture presented by lordreed is not adequate enough for what he claims. Please get me right. I am telling him that he's wrongly inferring what the verse didn't infer. I am not discussing about the council's meeting place at all.
As for the scripture in Job, I have told lordreed that even if heaven is inferred as the location of the council, that verse didn't say Satan was dwelling in heaven. This applies to your Ahab scripture above too. Like I said to him, you cannot say there's a cat in my house just because Mr. Donald visits me with his cat. You cannot say there's evil in heaven just because Satan goes there for a meeting. However, there's nothing in that job scripture that states Satan was meeting with God in heaven.
God is not confined to a place. Purge yourself of whatever religion has told you, and learn God for yourself. God is not a Being confined to a place. God having a meeting does not necessarily mean that the meeting is holding in heaven. God is omnipresent.
That's why I gave him thT scripture which he ignored. Perhaps, you can help him. Can you tell me what you understand about John 1:51:
He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man." LoLz. Why do you do this to yourself? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Atheists Be Like by LordReed(m): 11:34pm On Jan 11*. Modified: 11:53pm On Jan 11 |
FxMasterz: You're the one inferring that God holds council somewhere. You're the one to show us where He does that. Which I did but you can't. I have said it several times with an explanation that the condition on earth is not the same as heaven. Hence the same rules don't apply! I don't like repeating myself thousands of times on simple things like this. I even gave you a contrast between Nigeria and the USA twice. I didn't ask you to explain anything I asked you to say yes or no to a simple question you said you said no which will translate to to "no, evil is necessary to enjoy evil in heaven". If evil is not necessary to enjoy good in heaven then you are just dribbling your own shadow and hiding behind your finger. |
