MaxInDHouse: Moses and Joshua were doing the right thing going by what was prevalent back then!
In those days the greatest God commands the most indomitable army so before God brought out the Israelites out of Egypt He first sent a warning signal to all the inhabitants of Canaan through His dealings with all the Gods of Egypt. God rendered all their Gods useless and destroyed their best warriors in the red sea without Israelites having to raise a single weapon.
But when the Canaanites heard this they were prepared to fight instead of running away that's why God used their own logic against them after all the greatest army owns the lands.
So if you don't understand something ask questions like this it will help you a lot.
Today Christ has come and told us that there is no holy land anymore unlike the time God wanted to establish pure worship in Canaan where those people were sacrificing babies to demons.
That's why no true believer in Christ can raise weapon against anyone again in the name of securing anything be it land or properties Jesus commanded us to FLEE instead of shedding blood! Matthew 10:23🙂 Guy forget story. The Israelites didn't conquer Canaan, they were Canaanites themselves! It is like Ijebu people claiming they conquered all of Yoruba land. |

Thank God they are getting closer to your place that is why you are making all these noise.
Even if bandits are walking outside, Christians would still continue to love God and pray that you devus will be daily consumed by the bandits as He did to the Egyptians
For you people said that you can solve all problems, so why are you here making noise and attacking God Who has even left you to do as you like? Is it not Christians crying that there is Christian genocide? What has your god done about it? |

QuinQ: You don't understand. She lives in London and you live in Nigeria and she hates your girfriend and wants you to dump her. Certain things simply cannot be explained by science. I used to have a contentious email group with some people. Do you know I could tell 100% when a person is reading a scathing email I sent. Their strong emotions reading it somehow gets to me. And I knew this with precision. If they read the email two days later, I knew. This convinced me TOTALLY that there is an invisible connection between all of us, and it transcends distance! LoLz. You already mentioned the reason, strong emotion. I guess people like you don't realise emotion is a combination of brain state and hormones which can absolutely produce psychosomatic symptoms. Again an already contentious email group has strong emotions flowing around and combined with confirmation bias will make you think you are 100% doing something woo woo. |

That's the kind of thing we're talking about If there was an allergen I was bringing from such an interaction it could trigger it. QuinQ: A whole family became simultaneously mentally ill after their brother refused to replace their father in a secret cult! There are even some alfas or people like TB Joshua who acquired the capacity to be able to enter people's dreams. It has been long conclusively demonstrated - science CANNOT explain a lot of things! They should go see a mental health expert, I am not one nor can a diagnosis be done by proxy. You thinking it is demonic is only emblematic of the problem with superstition in Africa and African culture. For instance my daughter had persistent stomach ache not even doctors diagnosed properly until I figured out she had a wheat allegy. Left to people like you na prayer una go dey do. LoLz. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by LordReed(m): 1:15pm On Jan 08 |
QuinQ: I'd like to think so too, being scientifically minded, but experience dictates otherwise. There was this lady whose father was a member of some Ogboni-like secret cult. After her father died her brother refused to replace him in the cult as mandated by their rules. That's when it started happening: spiritual attacks on their family nonstop. They'd be raping her while she was walking in broad daylight. She ran to US to escape them and they followed her there. She ran deep into Christ and that's when the attacks eased off. Experiences like this abound. How does science and "mental health challenges" explain them?? Quite well actually. The problem is most of us over here have is because the matter has been so soaked in spiritual mumbo jumbo they'd rather talk to a pastor than to mental health professional who can better diagnose and help them. |

QuinQ: You have mouth to say this only because you're lucky not to be dealing with any supernatural attacks! No one needs to tell those dealing with demonic attacks that Jesus is alive, and that demons tremble at mention of that name! Give you an example, say someone were under supernatural attack and were close to suicide. They've tried everything, then they bump into Christianity and the tormenting demons suddenly fled at mention of Jesus, do you think anyone would need to convince them Christ is alive and active? They'd know for certain without any doubt! There are many things we don't know and not everything goes by logic. Yeah this is how you people demonise issues that have nothing to do with your spiritual mumbo jumbo. People overcome mental health challenges without needing that junk so don't gimme that. Telling people mental health challenges are demonic is how you perpetuate your superstitions in this part of the world. In other parts of the world where rationality is more in play such junk doesn't fly. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by LordReed(m): 3:41am On Jan 08 |
QuinQ: No, I've said it was personal encounter that produces the knowing with certitude that Jesus is alive and active. That's how most people become Chrustians, not through anyone convincinb them with arguments. So the answer is, no other religion can have all the elements that led to me being a Christian because there can only be one Jesus. Still not a great argument. Check on YouTube you'll find people claiming personal encounters with Norse gods and goddess even Egyptian ones. |

QuinQ: Even if everyone becomes a Muslim I'd still be a Christian. What has that to do with anything? Well it seems to me like you think Christianity's longevity and dominance is a reason to believe so the question is if some other equally long lived religion was dominant will it be a reason to believe? Besides there are older religions than Christianity that have had gods come in the flesh I wonder why you don't believe in those. Is it because they are not dominant? If they became dominant would you change after all they have been around longer than Christianity. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by LordReed(m): 4:25pm On Jan 07 |
QuinQ: Ok, so that settles it. Sonmvayina no more talk of Jesus never existing. As for cross, the point is that they didn't adopt it based on nothing - if Christ never existed and therefore never crucified on the cross It doesn’t matter why they adopted it, that is not an indication that the religion is therefore true or has more merit than any other religion. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by LordReed(m): 3:42pm On Jan 07 |
QuinQ: So you do accept that Jesus did indeed exist. Your only problem is with things like zombie apocalypse? Again, why would they adopt the cross symbol for no reason while it was a symbol of shameful death? Yes the issue is the tales of supernatural occurences. You have no wayto support those without simultaneously accepting any other similar tales from other religions. Like I pointed out to you using the now infamous Nazi symbol which was NOT a symbol of hate before the Nazis started using it, symbols can be repurposed for any thing. You Christians for example believe the rainbow to be a symbol for something other than LGBTQ pride symbolism. The cross previously being a symbol of shameful death doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, it is what it means to you Christians that matters. In other words a symbol is only as meaningful as you want it to be. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by LordReed(m): 10:53am On Jan 07 |
QuinQ: 1) Can you prove that Jesus did not exist? No and I don’t need to. Accepting that some preacher guy lived in the Levant back in the day isn’t a big deal. 2) Do you agree that there were many Jesus-like characters around that period, and many, many crucifixions? Yes and there are records of there being a number of them. 3)Why would Christians adopt the cross, the utmost symbol of shameful death at the time, as their symbol? What has that got to do with anything? The symbol we all associate with Germany Nazis wasn't a symbol of hate before the Nazis appropriated it so what has cross symbolism got to do with truth? 4) Do you agree that it is a historical fact that Christians were indeed extremely persecuted by Rome in a bid to stamp them out. Yes they were persecuted and no it was not in a bid to stamp them out. The Romans like most ancient empires were quite Metropolitan when it came to gods and religion. The reason Christians were persecuted was because they were the ones who sort to do away with other people's gods and religion. 5) Do you agree that instead of stamping out Chistianity, Christianity stamped out their Roman gods? Sure! Which proves my previous statement. 6) Do you agree that no other religion in the history of the world, founded by a mythical figure that never existed, has even come close to doing that. Because until Christianity no other religion sort world domination. Christians inspired the rise of Islam which also seeks world domination so congratulations on that. 7) Are you saying that People like Paul also never existed and his searingly personal and inspired letters were forged? Again another mundane claim that can easily be accepted with no big deal. I can accept that Paul existed. However, scholars have pointed out that some of the letters attributed to Paul may not have been written by him. 8} If you admit Paul existed, why would he be so passionate about a person he had no direct spiritual encounter with? One doesn't need to have a "spiritual encounter" to become devoted to a cause. Do football fans have "spiritual encounters"? 9) It is easy to say Jesus never existed until you start reading the details and minutae of the NT, then you realize that a) People who produced such profound words should aso have other works like that yet none exists. b) There is no reason for anybody to be making up some of those stuffs some of which did not put Jesus and Christianity in good light. c) If people like Paul never existed who traveled all those detailed travels and wrote all those passionate letters? Some details in the NT are so muddled most Christians are not cued up to them because it will call into question the veracity of the text. There were profound writings from way before Christianity that contained profound words especially the Greek philosophies which were popular at the time. There is plenty of reason to embellish your religious tales to add gravitas and make it more appealing especially when you are a newcomer. Look at Islam, they took example from Christians and even went harder. People like Paul and his cohort wrote what they thought would make their religion "sell" and stand out, that is not hard to see. 10) Jesus durring His time was a "nobody" in context of Roman empire. Asking why no contemporary historian wrote about him is like asking why no contemporary historian of British empire wrote about some obscure itinerant preacher in Akure with few followers and no meeting place, who was allegedly walking on water and raising the dead! Zombies rising from the dead would have been a big deal Jesus or no Jesus. Some of the events written in the gospels are too fantastic to not have been the talk of the entire empire. |

So why did he create Satan,a being he knew would bring in evil into the world and corrupt his angels and humans? When you say god has a rescue plan,do you mean flooding the world? Christianity Etc › Re: Atheists Be Like by LordReed(m): 8:07pm On Jan 06 |
FxMasterz: You should laugh at yourself because I never made any of those claims you're making here. Can you show me where I said the universe is God? Why are you atheists like this? Can you now tell me what the universe is as an observer from outside the universe? You literally: FxMasterz: You got it bro!
Infact, it is still within logical reasoning frameworks to assume that the universe itself may be God. We have only seen a little within the universe. No one has seen the whole universe let alone seeing the outside of it.
We cannot truly know what the universe is until we can observe it from the outside of the universe itself. What if this universe itself is a huge living being that has a different build from us, and the planets, and all heavenly bodies are parts of what keeps it alive?
All descriptions of the universe are based on what we see on its inside from its inside. Imagine the microbes inside your gut describing you on the basis of what they see in your stomach? Atheists just need to think harder and stop being myopic. I hope lordreed and jaephoenix in particular are reading.
If the universe is a “being,” then we would see:
- Stars/galaxies as cells? - Black holes as… pores? - Humans as microbes in its gut?
No one can ever tell.
Modified: Just thinking out loud. The essence is for us to know that there are possibilities beyond our natural scope. You literally acquiesced to the universe being a "being" which we wouldn't be able to fathom. Yet you claim the god sent you his son to die for your sin. Fact is the word god is meaningless which is why you can prevaricate like a dying man grasping for straws. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Atheists Be Like by LordReed(m): 8:00pm On Jan 06 |
DeepSight: + Yeah.
Nonetheless we have had cause to infer the existence of certain things. Black holes for example. Simplistic analogy you may say, but the point is that we do draw from evident effects to infer what cannot itself be seen.
But we can agree that certain impossible things do not exist. Such a square circles. Agreed 💯 |
Christianity Etc › Re: Atheists Be Like by LordReed(m): 5:11pm On Jan 05 |
DeepSight: + This kind of absolute negative is hard to impossible to prove. But if we are talking about any of those gods as described by religion I hear you and agree. Yes because you cannot absolutely prove something doesn't exist. A non existent thing doesn't leave evidence to prove its nonexistence. |
