PRESIDENT BUHARI ORDERS DODAN BARRACKS AUTHORITIES TO SURRENDER OBALENDE EID PRAYER GROUND TO LAGOS MUSLIM COMMUNITY

The incumbent President Muhammad Buhari has directed that the control of Obalende Eid Prayer Ground be returned to the Lagos Jama'atul Muslimeen Council of the Lagos Central Mosque.

In giving approval to the report of a Special Committee he set up to investigate and report to him the issues in conflict between the Lagos Muslim Community on one hand and Federal Government Agencies, particularly those stationed at the Dodan Barracks concerning the management and control of the land, President Buhari directed all those government agencies to "recognize and respect the fact that the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground legally belongs to the Jama'atul Muslimeen Council of the Lagos Central Mosque."

President Buhari directed that the "desecration of the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground by its profane use as a dump site should stop with immediate effect" and to this effect, the Dodan Barracks authorities should remove all containers and debris from the prayer ground.

The President also directed that the Dodan Barracks authorities "ensure that the Muslim Communities and their agents have unrestricted access to the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground at all times."

Lastly, he advised the Government of Lagos State to, "if deemed fit, (to) grant the Jama'atal Muslimeen Council a Certificate of Occupancy over the area identified in the Survey Plan."

The Committee that carried out the assignment as directed by the President under the leadership of Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff included the Minister of Works and Housing, the Minister of Defence, the Director-General of the DSS and the Chief of Defence Staff and the Permanent Secretary, State House.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the conferment of Special National Honours Award on 339 Nigerians, including Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity.

Shehu and Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice President) were conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

The Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar also received the National Honour of OON.

The President’s Personal Photographers for the eight years of his administration, Bayo Omoboriowo and Sunday Aghaeze bagged Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), respectively.

Also listed for the National Honours Award for their diligent services to the nation are Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, MON; Tolani Alli, Personal Photographer to the Vice President, MFR; Adamu Sambo, NTA Correspondent and Emmanuel Anrihi, NTA Cameraman, MFR.

An official publication by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs advised the award recipients to come to the office of the Ministry to collect their certificates and medals on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has approved the sack of Bello Zubairu Idris, Clerk of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

This was disclosed in a statement by Muyiwa Adekeye Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication.

Adekeye said the governor also approved the immediate disengagement of Yau Yunusa Tanko, a permanent secretary, and Francis Kozah, secretary of the Kaduna Enterprise Development Agency (KADEDA) .

He added that the governor has also accepted the retirement of Stephen Joseph, a permanent secretary in the state.

Last week, El-Rufai had vowed to continue demolishing houses and “removing bad persons” till the 11th hour.

The governor stated this at the launch of a book about his legacies.

The book titled, “Putting The People First”, was authored by Mr. Emmanuel Ado, a veteran journalist and public commentator.

He had said, “Any bad thing we find, we will remove so that the next governor does not need to do it again. Watch out till the eleventh hour when we shall quit office. We will continue to sack bad persons and remove bad things.”

The governor said this day after his administration revoked the right of occupancy of nine properties belonging to Ahmed Makarfi, former governor of the state, and marked them for demolition.
