sarrki: The National Women Leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, Hajiya Baheejah Mahmood, has said Nigerians will know the importance of Fulani if they go on strike for one week.
She lamented that the Fulani people has contributed a lot to the Nigerian economy but they benefited nothing in return.
When asked on what the Fulani people has contributed to the economy of the country she said: "The Fulani contribute a lot to the economy of the country and its people. They provide the country with over 90 per cent of its meat requirement. The cattle provide beef; they rear chickens, guinea fowls, goat and sheep too.
"They contribute to the dairy (milk) production and supply of hides and skin of the country, which contributes to the GDP of the economy. The affordable meat and eggs consumed in Nigeria are largely as a result of the activities of the Fulani.
During festivities of Muslims and Christians, and almost anything in-between, cattle, sheep and goats are used which are readily available as a result of the transhumance activities of the Fulani. All the products of the activities of the Fulani contribute to the nutritional enhancement of the country with provision of protein in form of meat, eggs and dairy.
She continued, "The Fulanis as a people gain next to nothing from the government of the country. Because they are mostly on the move, the Fulani’s do not benefit from the provision of basic amenities such as schools, hospitals and roads. They hardly know the importance of infrastructural items such as electricity, tap or borehole water and bridges.
What the Fulani need is a kind of public/private partnership (PPP) arrangement with the government to boost the production of the animals and their products.

ChangeIsCostant: A man who was falsely accused and imprisoned for "killing his neighbour" after taking her to the hospital, has regained his freedom after two years. The man identified as Mr Chidiebere Onwumere, a native of Umuagbaghagha village in Osisioma local government area of Abia state, was jailed after being accused of killing his neighbour, late Uzochi Chinyere, who lived in same compound with him.
Narrating his ordeal to Abia Facts Newspaper after his release from Nigerian prisons in Afara, Umuahia on Tuesday, Mr Chidiebere who was full of praises to God for vindicating him after two years of suffering for a crime he knew nothing about, said it was in his bid to save a neighbour that caused him to suffer this injustice.
He said, "I came back to where I was residing at Umujiji, Isiahia Osisioma around 6pm after 2 weeks in my village where I went to harvest and process palm fruits only to see my neighbour lying helpless and very weak and I decided to assist her to the hospital with the help of other neighbours since none of her blood relations was around".
"A pastor who resides within the neigbourhood took us with his car to a nearby hospital called Shiloh hospital where the doctor after examining him asked us to deposit 5000 naira to enable him conduct a text that will determine exactly what was wrong with her, I and some other neighbours contributed the money and made the deposit, when the result came out the doctor told us that she was on substance overdose and was knocked out by the illegal substance, he assured us that he will treat her and she will be well again".
"The next morning Mr Promise the elder brother to the deceased, arrived the hospital and insisted on taking her away to another hospital against the doctor’s advice, but he insisted and took her to an unknown destination".
"After a few days Promise came back to our compound and took me to World Bank police station Aba where he handed me over to the police claiming that I beat her sister to death".
"Despite pleas by neigbours and other relations of the deceased that my hands are clean and that there was a doctors report stating that their sister died of substance abuse, Promise insisted and filed a murder charge against me and I was arraigned on suit no. U/520c/2016 and remanded in prison custody since June 2016 till date if not for Barrister Jerry Uzosike who God used to vindicate and bring me out of prison today".
Barrister Uzosike after leading Chidiebere out of prison asked him to go home to his family and reintegrate himself back into the society,insisting that the system must seek ways to not only address such injustice but design a befitting compensation for victims of injustice.

According to reports, Chima was arrested alongside four of his apprentices – Victor Ogbonna , Osaze Friday , Ifeanyi Osuji and Ifeanyi Onyekwere – for driving against traffic in Port Harcourt , the state capital , on December 19 , 2019. Chima was allegedly tortured to death at Mile 1 Police Station , Port Harcourt , by men led by SP Benson Adetuyi . Activist, Comrade Phils , said on Facebook that the brother of the deceased as well as a customer of the deceased narrated to him how men attached to Eagle Crack aka E Crack, Mile 1 Police Station , perpetrated the act . The policemen were said to have accosted the mechanics while the latter were test - driving some cars . He wrote , “ I gave my car to my usual mechanic to fix Air Conditioner on Dec 19 , 2019. I called him several times on the 20th and did not get an answer. I decided to visit his shop physically at Ikoku to find out that my car and the mechanic were nowhere to be found . “ I asked fellow mechanics around and one said he saw when the mechanic was driving one way and he suspects that he might have been apprehended by the police . My mind calmed down a bit after hearing this . “ I started visiting police stations in Port Harcourt one after the other, making inquiries until I got to Mile 1 Police Station and I saw my car parked in front of the Eagle Crack Police Division ( aka E -Crack ) . I felt relieved thinking that the ‘police is my friend ’ , I was totally wrong. “ I presented myself quickly at the front desk to say that the car belongs to me and I want to know the reason it got to this place. I was shocked to be pointed a gun by one of the officers and I was asked to leave before I get shot. Wow… . I wondered what crime I could have committed to present myself as the owner of my car. But I had to leave before I got shot. ” The owner of the car said on getting home, the brother of the deceased , Obinna, narrated to him how the mechanic was arrested by the police . It was alleged that when he was accosted by the police , some money was demanded but the deceased said he could not part with the sum. He wrote , “ I opened my gate to see a young man who introduced himself as Obinna, the brother to Chima , my mechanic. He asked me my name which I told him and that he was directed by his brother to meet me. “ So I asked him quickly if he knew the reason for the arrest . He said Chima told him that he and his boys were testing two cars , three boys in a Camry and two boys in my car, after doing some work on them. The traffic in Port-Harcourt around that time was terrible and they decided to drive one way . “ The police apprehend them and asked them for money . They offered an amount that was not acceptable to the police officers. The eyes of the police officers were completely red looking for money to solve their Christmas matters as this usually happens during the Christmas festive period in Nigeria. “ The police officers immediately changed the case to robbery , accusing the boys of stealing the two cars . The officers asked the boys to raise their hands and searched their pockets. They found money in each of the pockets of the boys . “ According to Obinna, N 97, 000 was found on Chima, N 50, 000 on one of them, N 16, 000 on another etc , totalling over N150 ,000 in their pockets. ” It was alleged that the police handcuffed all of them, took their money and their telephones and took them to the station . On getting to the station, the police allegedly subjected them to all manners of torture . “ The youngest of them who is only 19, was almost at the point of death and accepted to confess whatever they asked him to say. “ He started making false confession about my car, he agreed that my car was stolen and that , the car belongs to a lady and that , they jumped into the lady’ s compound, broke the glass of the car, opened the door and used a master key to start the car. Broke the gate and drove off , ” the vehicle owner was quoted as saying. The owner of the vehicle was said to have approached a friend who was a senior Nigerian Air Force officer . He said the officer accompanied him to the station. “ The Air Force commander followed me to the police station on Dec 23, 2019. We met the Commander of E -Crack , I noticed the name on his uniform as Benson. The Air force Commander introduced himself and introduced me as his brother . He wrote, “ Mr . Benson called the IPO ( Investigating Police Officer) of the case to come and narrate the story . The IPO explained how the boys jumped into a lady’s compound, broke the glass of the car, used a master key to start the car, broke the gate and drove off. “ That they, the police officers apprehended the boys at the point of sale . That the boys were communicating with the buyer from Aba and that one of the boys has already confessed to the crime . “ After hearing this , at first I was wondering if it was some Nigerian movie the man was narrating or was he talking about my car? The E-Crack Commander now asked the IPO to bring the boy who made the confession. “ The boy was brought in after two minutes limping seriously with smelling wounds . The E- Crack Commander asked the boy to tell the truth that no one would torture him . The boy now started talking by saying that he is only an apprentice under his boss, Chima, that the car belongs to Chima’s customer, that he made the false confession because he was tortured almost to the point of death , at this point, he stretched his arms with handcuffs towards the commander showing him the smelling wounds .” The car owner narrated that he was able to recover his vehicle from the police but the suspects were never released. He said he was told that the police had changed the scope of the case from armed robbery to cultism. The owner of the car said a lawyer reached out to him on January 2, 2020, to inform him that Chima had been killed in custody. He added, “ According to the barrister , as soon as he left the police station , the commander immediately charged the boys to court that same day on the charge of my car being stolen and cultism. “ After hearing this from the barrister, I again thought , the police had released my car to me after verifying that it is my car and I never told them that my car was ever stolen , why did they still charge the boys for my car robbery ? “ I later found out the answer which I will say shortly after. As I write this story , the remaining four boys are in prison custody with wounds getting rotten and smelling. Chima that the police killed is tagged as ‘ at large ’ . The answer to my question came out when the families of the deceased visited the court to see a copy of the charge sheet confirming that the police wrote on it that the owner of the car, which is supposed to me, confirmed to them that his car was stolen as described . I have never made such a statement anywhere . My car was never stolen .” An activist , Segun Awosanya , popularly known as Segalink, confirmed the incident on his Twitter handle. Awosanya said he had spoken with the family of the deceased as well as the vehicle owner, adding that the police had commenced an investigation . The activist , who is known for the ‘ EndSars ’ movement, wrote, “ I have spoken with the brother of the deceased and also reached out to the owner of the vehicle . The CP has been asked to bring all the people involved to the Force Headquarters .” When contacted on the telephone , the Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, Nnamdi Omonji, said he had heard of the case but did not have full details . He promised to call back and provide a response . Also, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said he would call back with a response .

Legalcriminal: Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, commended Southwest governors for setting up the Amotekun security outfit.
Kanu assured that members IPOB were ready to support Operation Amotekun with all their might.

modsfucker: Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has decried combined efforts of operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command and soldiers from the Guards Brigades, who foiled robbery attack in Mpape area of Abuja on Saturday.
Effiong, a constitutional lawyer, who premised his criticism upon Section 218 of the Nigeria’s Constitution, argued that foiling robbery attack is not the business of army personnel, describing the joint efforts as a “national scandal”.
“It is not only wrong but also unconstitutional. The Army has no business confronting armed robbers. Section 218 of the Constitution limits the role of the Armed Forces. The Army is not supposed to be deployed to fight regular crimes.
“I insist that what happened in Abuja on Saturday is a national scandal and those in power in this country should be ashamed. Deploying soldiers to tackle five armed robbers trapped in a building is a manifestation of the total collapse of our security architecture.
“How can our troops be reduced to this shameful level? A country where soldiers chase suspected rice smugglers is a big joke. I insist that what we’re witnessing is an aberration. The Armed Forces was not established for this,” Effiong tweeted.
He further stated, “The Guards Brigade do not protect Abuja. They only protect the President & the Villa. The security of Abuja is primarily within the jurisdiction of the FCT Police Command.
