Please i need your candid advice here. My mum and we the children have been living in Lagos for a very long time now, in fact, we were born and bred in Lagos. It happened that last year April, she decided to go to the village to oversee some things in our compound then come back two weeks later. After 3 weeks, my mum refused to come back but she refused. She said she has decided to stay back in the village and that lagos is not her home. We have been begging her to come back and she insisted on staying till date. My dad is late and he's the first son, so, automatically, he inherited my grand father's properties. My grandfather married 3 wives. The son of the second wife has built his own house and moved out. My dad's mum is the first wife. Now the issue is that the son of the 3rd wife is making life miserable and uncomfortable for my mum in the village just to frustrate her to go back to Lagos. On several occasions, he has pointed matchet and knife at my mum's face that he would kill her. He has even held her throat, threatening to strangle her. We advised our mum to go to the police to make a report about threat to life, which she did. The police came to the compound to get the boy but he had already fled the compound , only for him to come back with police officers from another station today. These policemen were carrying guns and they made a forceful arrest of my mum charging her of assault. As I'm typing this, my mum is sleeping at the police station this night. A 62 year old woman. Please what manner of injustice and corruption is this? I can't even sleep. My siblings and I , our hands are tied because of distance. larryplaytv: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, has called on the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to adopt Igbo Presidency for 2023.
Okechukwu, who spoke with journalists in Enugu on Sunday, said if APC and PDP produced Igbo presidential candidates in 2023, it would solve the “prevalent gun-box democracy” and return “ballot box democracy” to Nigeria.
Okechukwu made the appeal while reacting to issues on the country’s democracy and the 2023 presidential election. He appealed to the two dominant political parties to adopt the Falae/Obasanjo model by fielding an Igbo presidential candidate.
According to him, adoption of Igbo Presidency is the only way to have a peaceful 2023 presidential election and save Nigeria’s ‘threatened’ democracy.
He added that rotation of president among different regions is the ligament holding the country’s fledgling democracy.

Where else but New York City? A newly opened restaurant within the city limits is boasting the nation’s first license to serve human flesh on the menu. The restaurant, simply called SKIN, received a license after petitioning the state and federal governments over laws against cannibalism.
“As a species, we are at the top of the food chain, and the only meat left to tackle was other humans,” said SKIN owner Mario Dorcy, a 4-star Michelin chef. “We battled long and hard to be able to serve human meat in our restaurant, and the government finally conceded that were were in the right.”
Dorcy says that he has been fighting cannibal ordinance laws for over 10 years, and was finally given the green-light after he promised that the meat that was used would only come from people who had donated their bodies specifically to his restaurant, knowing full well that they would be eaten.
“We have to keep meticulous records, and there is a lot of paperwork someone has to fill out before they die, and before they can be eaten,” said Dorcy. “We do pay handsomely for body donations, though, and the money can be used for anything, since funeral expenses become zero when you donate your body to be eaten.”
Dorcy says that there are plenty of dishes on the menu that do not include human meat, but those leery of the process should not order at all.
“Just like on those packages of candies with allergy warnings that say ‘the machines also are used to make items with nuts,’ our utensils are also used to cook human meat,” said Dorcy. “So don’t come in if you’re not down with what we do.”

Seeking a better life, Hartfield left his home in Ellisville and resided in East St. Louis. He had managed to sustain a relationship with his lady-love Ruth Meeks who happened to be white discreetly, however, upon his return to Ellisville 1919, the relationship became known to some white men.
It didn’t matter that these men were not involved with Ms. Meeks but for being a Black man and being intimate with a white woman of a race they claimed was superior, a death sentence was passed on Hartfield. Needing something to pin so they can visit violence on him, the assailants claimed he raped Meeks, adding she was 18 while the lady was actually in her mid-twenties.
Hartfield, to preserve his now precarious life managed to elude the vile men baying for his life for several weeks but undeterred, Sheriff Allen Boutwell in Laurel raised donations to fund a hunting party with Bloodhounds at the request of Sheriff Harbison.
Now a man on the run, Hartfield was finally apprehended attempting to board a train on June 24, and was turned over to Sheriff Harbison, who placed him in the charge of a deputy and left town. The deputy immediately released him to a mob.
The Jackson Daily News, the New Orleans States, and other newspapers ran headlines that “John Hartfield will be lynched by Ellisville mob at 5:00 this afternoon” and additional text that “The officers have agreed to turn him over to the people of the city at 4 o’clock this afternoon when it is expected he will be burned”.
For newspapers which are to safeguard the best interest of society to unashamedly publish the notice of the capture of an innocent man and a note that he will be burned erases doubt that the lynching was institutional and it was a clear indication that it had become the norm such that whites who might have found it abhorrent and didn’t appear to be enthusiastic about it risked having harm visited on them.
Another curiosity with Hartfield’s lynching was that with his capture, he had been wounded at the shoulder but guess what, a white doctor, A. J. Carter, was procured for him to treat his wounds just to keep him alive long enough to be murdered.

Theodore Bilbo, the governor of Mississippi, took no action. With the murder announced a day in advance in major newspapers, a crowd of as many as 10,000 watched while Hartfield was hanged, shot and burned with pieces of his corpse chopped off and sold as souvenirs.
Hartfield was hanged from a gum tree alongside nearby railroad tracks, riddled with bullets, and then burned. White men, women, and children had travelled from throughout the state to watch his gruesome murder. Commemorative postcards of the lynching were created and sold afterwards.
Governor Bilbo declared: “This is a white man’s country, with a white man’s civilization and any dream on the part of the Negro race to share social and political equality will be shattered in the end.”
Those who experienced Hartfield’s lynching describe it as an act of terrorism aimed at intimidating the entire black community compelling many to flee in fear for their own lives.
Since Hartfield was formerly a slave, he never received a birth certificate so his age when he died is unknown.
Hundred years on after Hartfield was desecrated for no criminal conduct nor for toppling a government but for daring to love without color bias, we remember an ancestor and may he rest in power
Two weeks back, my friend was apprehended by DSS officers from his residence in Lagos state and we have not heard from him.
I was driving out with him, immediately they saw us, they surrounded us and started asking questions. We now discovered that it was my friend that they were looking for. They collected his phones and followed him to his room to change his clothes. When I asked them what his offense was, they told me that they would like to ask him one or two questions.
They told me to meet them at their office and when I got there, I was not allowed access to their office. The officer at the gate told me that there was no such arrest. It was on Friday. I went there on Monday together with his wife and brother which was the following week, we were still denied access. They officer at the gate told us that if he's truly here that nothing will happen to him. He told us that anyone who is apprehended is not allowed to see anybody until after investigation.
We paid a Lawyer to go there the following day and the Lawyer eventually gained access, he was told that my friend was taken to Abuja the following day they arrested him.
We contacted a Lawyer in Abuja to go there and he was not allowed to see my friend. They told him to submit an application that they would get back to him. After few days, they did not contact him. He decided to go there this week and was denied access.
My friend has a wife and two kids, the wife has not been herself since this incident happened. She's been traumatized. She just wants to be sure if her husband is truly there.

Four family members, including a six-month-old baby in Kebbi have sued the Kebbi State Government and the Departmemt of State Services for alleged illegal arrest and detention for 13 days without trial.
The complainants — Abdulrahman Nasir Jato, Hadiza Nasir Jato, Aisha Zakari and a six-month-old baby who are residents of Yauri town were arrested and detained from September 1 to 13, by the DSS.
They were arrested in their house by DSS operatives for allegedly sending SMS to Governor Atiku Bagudu, seeking payment of their father’s gratuity.
The respondents in the case are DSS Kebbi State Command, State Director of DSS, Kebbi State Government and Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
Federal High Court Judge at, Birnin-Kebbi, Justice Bassey Onu Sunday, adjourned the case for ruling, saying the date will be communicated to all counsels.
