Art, Graphics & Video / A Nairalander’s Recent Ai-generated Film Project by LOSKYXANDER: 6:14pm On Sep 30
So since my first project, I invested more time in developing my skills and learning new tools and techniques. Thanks to all who provided feedback on my other project.
Link to the post I made concerning the other project: https://www.nairaland.com/8204398/rate-nairalanders-first-ai-generated

So recently, I worked on another project titled “Captain Philip of Badagry” set in the slave trade era. The work is purely fictional!

Would love to hear abi read your thoughts on this one🙂

TV/Movies / Rate A Nairalander’s First AI Generated Film by LOSKYXANDER: 4:53pm On Sep 04
So I invested some time to learn film generation using artificial intelligence tools. I just created my first film inspired by the events surrounding the 2023 Niger Republic Coup.
Everything you see in the film was AI generated, including the soundtracks. I hope to keep improving though.

Travel / UK Skilled Worker Visa: KPMG UK Cancels Foreign Graduate Job Offers by LOSKYXANDER: 11:05am On Apr 25
KPMG UK has cancelled employment offers for certain foreign graduates in the UK after the government strengthened visa requirements for abroad workers in an effort to reduce record immigration.
According to documents seen by the Financial Times, the Big Four firm, one of the UK's largest graduate employers, informed affected incoming staff this week that their offers had been rescinded, citing the government's decision to raise the minimum salary required to sponsor a skilled worker visa in the UK.
According to the documents, KPMG stated that the changes to eligibility criteria had “unfortunately impacted some of our graduate programmes that were previously eligible for sponsorship under the skilled worker visa category”. The firm refuses to share the number of offers that had been cancelled.

Impact of Stricter Visa Regulations on UK Professional Services Sector

The decision demonstrates how Britain's professional services business is dealing with stricter regulations regarding the hiring of abroad personnel. It comes as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's administration takes a tougher stance on immigration in the run-up to the general election, which his Conservative party is anticipated to lose.
In January, the government announced that it would raise the income threshold for highly qualified employees from £26,200 to £38,700 in April, and to £30,960 for those under the age of 26.
Graduates who had their offers withdrawn were informed that they would not be allowed to defer their spots until 2025. They had the option to request transfer to a different graduation programme this year, but only if registrations were still open on the firm's website and “the role is eligible for sponsorship”.
According to one source familiar with the situation, KPMG, which hired 1,400 graduates and apprentices this past year, would fill the now-vacant graduate positions with people who are legally allowed to work in the UK.
In January, Tom Pursglove, minister for legal migration, stated that the immigration changes, which included new restrictions on care workers bringing dependents to the UK, would “tackle the inherent unfairness of a system that, if left untouched, would reward employers seeking to recruit cheap labour from overseas at the expense of the British worker.”

KPMG refused to issue any comment on the matter. Separately, the Big Four corporation announced that it would begin recruiting additional former convicts after a two-year experiment that was hailed as “very positive”.

Thanks for responding.
Please can you create a little time to re check. I just checked now and what I’m seeing is community worker, disability service officer, family support worker, residential care officer and youth worker.
My own assessment is on Aged and disability.
I don’t know if it’s similar to any of the occupation I have listed above
I just did a little research. As someone already mentioned, I think caregiver is not eligible for skillselect. Take a look at your skill assessment outcome. Did they write something like “ your skills have been assessed as suitable for the relevant aged care industry labour agreement visas”? If that’s the case, I think the only available visa options are 482 and 186. Austalia get wahala o

Caregiver is not eligible for skillselect
The last I checked, I saw an occupation related to care when i filtered by assessment body (ACWA). I can’t remember the exact name, but you can try it. See if it works

Good evening everyone. I did an assessment as a Caregiver off shore and I got a positive outcome from ACWA but still can’t get sponsorship job via job sites like seek and indeed.
Please let me know if there are better ways to go about this.
Thank you
Have you entered the pool by expression of interest (EOI) on skillselect portal?

NHS healthcare workers can still bring dependents.

Care Workers (SOC code 6145) and Senior Care Workers (SOC code 6146) can no longer bring dependents.

However, (SOC code 6141) covers NHS Nursing auxiliaries and assistants, Auxiliary nurse,
Health care assistant (hospital service), Health care support workers, Nursing assistant and Nursing auxiliary.

This site is also helpful:

Thanks for the info

Are care workers employed directly by the NHS exempted from the no-dependent rule? Anyone with information about this? A friend told me this but I’m in doubt because there is no information about it on the home office website

Greetings, sure everyone is doing great.

I have a serious concern and i need the best help/advice i can get. I got a positive skill assessment from vetassess last year, and am going for visa 190. I lodged my EOI and i got a cumulative point of 55, but I realized my English test result i submitted( Spk= 8.0, Listn =8.0, Wrtn = 7.0, Readn = 6.5) is showing zero, that is no point awarded. What do i do, please help.
As funny as it may sound, Australia judges your English by your lowest score. Even if you have one band 6 but have band 9 in the rest, you are as good as someone who had band 6 all through which is classed as competent. Competent English doesn’t have any score awarded

Her course end date, I believe may be this January in as much as she has outstanding modules to re-sit. Unless the new restrictions affects those that still have modules they are yet to pass as of the date their courses ended.
The screenshot is from the home office website. Since she has some outstanding modules, I don’t know if she will be classed as completed studies.

Do everything within your means to switch to skilled worker visa before your visa expires. Someone who was in a situation similar to yours had push to get sponsored skilled worker visa as her BRP was to expire Jan. 30th 2023 and she was resubmitting her dissertation in May, 2023. She switched as her Uni said they can't facilitate her student visa extension, she submitted her dissertation in May, passed and graduated July 2023 while on Tier 2 visa.
I don’t think one can switch to a skilled worker visa before completing their studies based on some new restrictions introduced last year. I might be wrong though.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Verbal Offer Is Not Enough, It Is Not An Offer Letter. by LOSKYXANDER: 4:16pm On Feb 22, 2023
I once applied for a job and was invited for a rigorous interview. The manager and admin staff were present. After the interview, I was congratulated and told I passed. These people even sent me some documents (excluding an offer letter) which I signed and sent back to them via email. They said the next step would be induction. This was in May 2022. Up to this day, I was never invited to the so called induction. I have learnt my lessons!!

The only way she can easily help you now is to secure a job offer for you in Canada.

You will work for a minimum of one year and process your PR yourself.

Another option is Express Entry/PNP
You will claim points for having a relative in Canada in your Express Entry profile.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba gives nominations to Express entry candidates with relatives that are PRs in their provinces...

Please what kind of job qualifies for this especially in Manitoba province? Please don't read this and ignore, I'm begging cry

Either the HDMI output is not high enough to transfer the high graphic data packets from the pc to the tv or the port of the tv or pc is faulty

I believe the former is more likely
I have tried it with a different cord (DSTV follow come cord) but the result is the same. It's a new TV though

Family / I'm I Safe With My Gas Cooker? by LOSKYXANDER: 9:59am On Apr 17, 2021
I use a 4 burner maxi table top gas cooker. Ever since I bought my cylinder and gas cooker, something strange has been happening. The fire goes off on it's own sometimes when I'm cooking even when the gas knob is still on. I only realise the fire has gone off when I go to check the food I'm cooking. What could be the cause? Could it be the cylinder or the table gas cooker?
Please note that gas doesn't come out of the burner when the fire goes off until I turn the knob off and turn it on again
Please i need urgent advice!!
Thank you
