No surprises here…..a Yoruba Tinubu minion scouring the net for negative news from the south-east so he can rush to post on nairaland! Then his ilk fall over themselves to get their own daft, smug, bigoted and anti-Igbo jab in!

His Igbo identity made him excel in his comedy career.

All the Rivers Igbo gospel music artists who once claimed they were Ikwerre and not Igbo later accepted they were Igbo when they later realized that it was their Igbo identity and Igbo names that helped them excel in their music careers.

Delta Igbos and Rivers Igbos only deny their Igbo identity during politics because they know that Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas hate Igbos and will be glad to accept and support them politically once they deny being Igbo; it's all about survival, don't blame them, if Biafra had survived the civil war, many Igbos outside Southeast like those in Benue, Rivers, and Delta will be fighting to join their ancestral root in the Southeast.

Failure have no friend, while success have many friends. As Igbos failed to win the civil war, many Igbos outside Southeast started denying their Igbo identity in order to survive the post-war political battle between the 3 major tribes in Nigeria.

As Northern Nigeria started failing in all facets of life, can't you see how Middlebelt people started to deny being tagged as "one North" with Hausa-Fulanis of recent? But back then when the North was reigning, holding on to political and military power, everybody outside Southern Nigeria happily identified themselves as Northerners. So it's all about success and survival, so don't blame Igbos outside southeast denying being Igbo, they are doing it for survival, especially political survival in the murdy waters of Nigerian politics where Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas enjoy ganging up against anything Igbo

Illuminating post!

Buhari told Ndigbo to go and discuss amongst themselves and agree on one state to be created and present it to him for implementation. Ndigbo couldn't present one because they did not agree on which one to adopt out of Njaba, Aba, Etiti and Adada States agitations.
Even Ohaneze couldn't throw kalo kalo so that whichever gets a YES will be presented to Buhari. Na we do ourselves !!!!

So you actually believed Buhari? You think he wasn't just bluffing?

Another point is, Igbo enweghi Eze (Igbos have no King)
I still remember when I was a boy, Eze Ugoenyi Eze ndi Eze (king of Kings) misbehaved and women of my community gathered and burnt his stool and staff of office at the market Square. They reminded him that Gondor has no king, Gondor needs no king

Oshio baba whose hands are currently full with reestablishing his father like influence in APC in Edo state and ensuring APC overcomes a strong PDP candidate in Asue Ighodalo in the upcoming gubernatorial elections, that is the one that will find time to be destabilising an already tower of babel like LP.

This deputy chairman, sense far from am.

It's not a far-fetched assumption to make! I always suspected the the trail of those engineering unrest in LP leads back to APC....specifically party aparatchiks like Tinubu and Oshiomole! I've opined in the past that their immediate target is the upcoming Edo gubernatorial elections.....and their long-term aim is to try and destabilise the LP with an eye on 2027 and weaking any chances they think Peter Obi may have!

I may not like Abure, but he who is without sin in APC should cast the first stone! If you dig well enough you can find questions that need to be answered by most political actors in Nigeria today....including Tinubu, Ganduje and Oshiomole! But let me sound a note of warning to LP: if they allow Abure to be removed then they should know they're leaving themselves open to having a party chairman planted by Tinubu, Oshiomole and similar conniving and machiavelian characters! They should remember Modu-Sheriff and PDP

When his minions brag that their 'Jagaban is a master strategist and political calculator', they're inadvertently alluding to his criminal and shady nature of practising partisan-politics in Lagos in particular and Nigeria in general! Tinubus' 'me first (emilokan)' and 'money solveth all problems in politics' philosophy is perfect for navigating the murky waters of Nigerian partisan-politics and governance!

Those properties you're referring to, are they commercial properties or residential properties, if most are residential, how do you expect them to generate that much tax from it, how much will they be taxing each residential house monthly or yearly?

You’re probably a landlord!

EVERY property should be captured in the tax net and should pay their own fair share for the development of the state! We’re not talking huge amounts here….just a token amount, so gov’t can have the funds to provide much needed services and infrastructure!

I don't really know why states are crying

The back bone of any government around the world is property tax

There are over 250,000 houses in each of these stated in city n towns

Valued at a minimum of 10 million to 500 million

Say average of 35 million

A property tax of 1% value of house is not bad 3% is ideal.. So let's go to 1.5%

That's easy 131 billion

But once u do this know u must work,
Know street have to be paved
Streets have to be clean
Roads must work
Know propaganda of tribe and religion won't work

Maybe these are the reason they don't go for it since they have enough to steal but not to work

I had a similar thought with regards to states in the south-east with massive real-estate and multi-storied buildings…especially Anambra and Abia! Was wondering how these states are struggling to make even 5 billion per month, when they could make that amount just from property tax alone….even before considering other revenue streams from commerce, industry and transportation. I think Peter Mbah of Enugu is going in this direction of property tax, and may just surprise all of us by the end of the year! Anambra should be making nothing less than 100 billion per year from IGR!

you have been enemy of this country for long

Between Gidgiddy and you, i’d say YOU are the enemy of Nigeria! He’s being pragmatic and realistic! Hope you saw how Igbo were profiled, threatened and even attacked in the last gubernatorial election in Lagos State after Tinubu gangsters saw how well Peter Obi and LP did in the presidential election and panicked!? Hope you see how hegemonic alliances have either acted alone or conspired together since the 70s to prevent any Igbo from being president of Nigeria? Yet if they ask you, you will say Nigeria has three major ethnic groupings: Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani.

You much prefer Igbo who are willing to accept the slave and 2nd class status that’s been designated for them after the uncivil war by the so called ’victors’…..the ones (like quite a lot of useless Igbo political elite) who accept to play 2nd fiddle to the other two major ethnic groups, and who are used to give the impression Igbo are ’part of gov’t and represented at the centre’!

There would be no talk of secession or Biafra today had Nigeria been a fair, and more importantly, a developing and progressive society….one in which the Igbo felt a sense of belonging!

Neutrals (non Igbo, Fulani or Yoruba) know the history of Nigeria from ‘independence’ to date, and know the ethnicities and hegemonic power blocs that have held the country to ransom and held it in a stranglehold during the intervening period! For you to now stupidly but boldly assert that ‘especially Ibos have done enough harm’ to your otherwise ‘peaceful, united and rapidly developing Nigeria’ shows either a crass attempt at deceit or a worrying level of ignorance and delusion!

Just as expected, the usual Igbo-hating suspects….Tinubu/APC e-thugs, e-rats and minions, are crawling all over this thread! There’s probably more oil, definitely more gas, in Enugu and Ebonyi states, but the eminently evil and bigoted Buhari gov’t and his hegemonic ilk wouldn’t look in their direction! They’d rather prefer wasting billions of dollars and man-hours looking for the elusive pot of gold cat the end of the rainbow! Had it been just their own money they were wasting, it would have been understandable, but they’re wasting the commonwealth of the entire country…..and robbing Peter to pay Paul while at it!

Look at all the coal deposits in Enugu laying waste! Does anyone think for a second that had these coal deposits been located in say Daura or Iragbiji, that we wouldn’t be exploiting them by now? Just this week, i saw a report on tv indicating plans by the Tinubu gov’t to start exporting bitumen, which i gather is located mainly in Ondo state (i stand to be corrected on the location)!

Hope it becoming clear to naive ones out there why some will do anything to ensure a Igbo doesn’t become president of Nigeria!? They will give you all manner of excuses as to why a Igbo can’t be Nigerian president, but at the end of the day it boils down to just these few factors: greed and lust for power, bigotry, envy and hate, and a fear that a Igbo president will ensure a level playing field and address the decades long wickedness targeted at Ndigbo that have now been elevated to state policy!

I have nothing to say about Peter Obi. Remember I said you have the right to say whatever you wish about him. My issue is with BAT - because BAT is the one with the coat of arms behind him. Not Peter Obi or Abubakar Atiku.

Now that we have that out of the way, lets address what you said up there. I have long said that only strong institutions (among some other key things) can save us from destruction in this country. One of my first requirements for purposeful leadership is personal example - and BAT fails miserably on that score. BAT was a governor for 8 years and a senator for the same length of time. That's long enough for him to demonstrate his commitment to the things that make societies transparent...and yet, BAT has never declared his assets publicly. Despite BAT'S overwhelming influence in the affairs of Lagos, the state has not passed freedom of information legislation to this very day. And you tell me about the "evolution of institutions"? undecided

BAT is not great by any stretch. He is your typical prebendal 3rd world politician with a highly exaggerated sense of his very limited abilities. I am not surprised at his mishandling of the federal economy because I figured him out a long time ago - and I knew his limitations would be exposed in no time. It is a pity so many of us were taken in by propaganda - and we will pay heavily for that.

I am Igbo man.... Honestly is very pathetic t see igbos begging for the crumbs leftovers. We are now seen as MUMUS. if power continue being denied to igbos. I believe the next stage is to declare no PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS in Igbo land.
When the issues is not looked into properly, then a call for referendum should be in place

It’s the useless, naive, appeasing and self-serving Igbo political elite, especially those you find in APC, that think that way! As someone asked earlier, what of Ogbonnaya Onu, Rochas, Ngige, Umahi, Kalu, and one youngish fella that was minister in the Buhari gov’t whose name escapes me at the moment? So all these are not Igbo…..so they’re less qualified to be president than the disastrous duo of Buhari and Tinubu!?

Fact of the matter is APC is controlled by the most greedy, selfish, nepotistic and Igbo-hating political clique from the other two main ethnicities and it will be a cold day in hell when they finally get a sense of fairness and believe that the ‘one Nigeria’ they yap about should have a leadership that’s all-inclusive and doesn’t work against the presidential ambitions of anyone just because they’re from a particular major ethnic group! Hope you all see how they’re relishing the prospect of handing the presidency over to yet another core north muslim male….that’s after they ensure Tinubu is rigged in yet again for a second term!? And then when the northern ‘president’ has done two terms….and Nigeria still exists as a country, you can bet when it comes down to the south another Yoruba with a ‘emilokan’ mindset would be waiting in the wings to grab it and run with it, and if they can’t get away with such brazenness you can be sure they will look for a south-south person to coronate! Anyone but a ‘pesky okoro’!

The daft Igbo you see in APC are ‘useful idiots’…..used to give the impression that APC is representative of all regions and Nigerians! But when push comes to shove, they will realise they’re nothing but pawns in a party owned and controlled by two hegemonic groups!
