Flashh:The premise of wanting all northern people to perish and at the same time banking on their votes is against logic. They havent been taught nor shown the errors of their thought process but in due time we will teach them the correct line of thinking. |
https://www.today.ng/news/national/114561/2016-budget-into-full-operation-few-days-osinbajo The Federal Government has re-assured Nigerians that the 2016 budget is expected to go into full operations in the next few days. This assurance was given by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who was a guest speaker at the 12th edition of ‘The Platform’, an annual national discourse put together by Covenant Christian Centre, at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. He said: “We expect that the budget will go into operation in the next few days. “This year, isn’t it so interesting that we are all paying attention and we know what exactly is going on?” he asked. Reeling out some of the government’s plans to 2016, Vice President further told the gathering that technology innovation hubs would be established across the country. The target, according to him, is to have two Super Hubs – one in Lagos and the other in Abuja – and six Regional Technology Hubs in the six geo-political zones – South-east, South-south, South-west, North-west, North-central and North-east. “In partnership with several major technology companies, the hubs will be fully resourced to the infrastructure and capacity building tools. “Each hub will be designed to produce relevant innovative technology solutions to a wide range of business, commercial and government problems,” Professor Osinbajo stated. He further stressed that the government of Buhari was completely and irrevocably committed to change, but warned that it may not be easy. “Though the early signs may be confusing and sometimes discouraging, there has never been a better opportunity than now to turn the country in the direction of success. “What we must do is not to blink. No shaking. Let us stay the course, keep our focus and see our country turn around,” the Vice President urged Nigerians Professor Osinbajo also said that besides fighting corruption, the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would create jobs for the people by further diversifying the economy. “We will deepen the diversification of the economy. “The big areas of focus are agriculture, agro-allied value chains, solid minerals, petrochemicals, technology and entertainment. “We need to be completely self-sufficient in production of rice, wheat, tomato and several of the products that drain our foreign exchange. “This country can feed itself, produce enough. “All that we need to do is focus on those who are producing and remove the obstacles on the way of giving people who are producing money or resources that they need directly,” he stressed. At the event, nation building, and not just nation formation was also identified as the solution to the socio-economic problems confronting Nigeria. This suggestion was made by the convener of the platform, and Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre, Poju Oyemade. The platform is an annual national discuss for promoting national growth and economic development. The theme for this year is, ‘Nigeria, What Is In Your Hand? Tapping Into Our Dead Economy, Looking beyond Our Oil-driven Economy’. https://cdn.guardian.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/2016-04-30-18.57.32.jpg |

The Ghanaian president is Fulani as well? Have you blamed Buhari today? |
Minister bling bling shades keep on pushing. You will soon shame your critics. |
– President Buhari condemns Fulani attacks, orders Nigerian army to go after the herdsmen – He assures Nigerians of his administration’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in all parts of the country – The president will me the governor of Enugu state to discuss current situation President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the attacks by the Fulani herdsmen, directed crackdown on killers, Daily Trust reports. The president who gave the order on April 27 also asked the security chiefs to secure areas where the suspected killer herders are functioning. He has directed the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Abayomi Olonishakin and the the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to go after the herdsmen that are terrorizing people in some parts of Nigeria. In the president’s address delivered by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, at the public presentation of a book authored by the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Buhari condemn the attacks in the strongest possible terms. The address reads in part: “Before making my remarks about the book, let me use this platform to condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the attack perpetrated on the Ukpabu Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani area of Enugu state on Monday. I deeply sympathise with all those who lost dear ones, as well as those who lost their properties, in the attack. “I have directed the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector-General of Police to secure all communities under attacks by herdsmen, and to go after all the groups terrorizing innocent people all over the country. This government will not allow these attacks to continue. “Ending the recent upsurge of attacks on communities by herdsmen reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons is now a priority on the Buhari Administration’s agenda for enhanced national security and the Armed Forces and Police have clear instructions to take all necessary action to stop the carnage.” Garba Shehu, the presidential media aide, has added that Buhari is scheduled to meet with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi later today to receive further briefing on the attack on Ukpabi Nimbo and discuss additional measures to forestall similar attacks and restore public confidence. The president advises all Nigerians to remain calm and assured of his administration’s readiness to deploy all required personnel and resources to remove this new threat to the collective security of the nation. Nigerians have berated President Muhammadu Buhari for been silent over the continuous killings carried out by Fulani herdsmen across the country. borngenius:This is a head scratcher for sure. With opposition politics in full effect do they think no one will check? Do they think they are the only people with Internet access? I'm just waiting for the budget implementation before I speak further because I'm praying for better days but sometimes the propaganda gets to be too much. |
How is this man in PDP? Barring his forgery trial everything I've seen of him has been excellent. Keep shining Oga |
Op don't mislead. That's devilish. You know good and well Dr. Onu realized there is no one in west Africa producing pencils and is using this as a means to improve job creation and foreign exchange potential. He is also working on production of v6 engines and drone technology and other weapons but continue to embarrass yourself. To even attempt to compare the two climes that the men are working within is ridiculous. We don't yet have steady power but you want him to produce autonomous trains. We don't even have the tracks yet. Get serious. He's actually achieving and laying the correct foundation for those to come and yet all he gets is insult from a nobody on a forum. You think you can talk down a man who accomplished so much in his life via NL. Goodluck with that one. Try again my friend. |
The first decent news all day. |
National Assembly’s joint Appropriation Committees have resolved to rework the controversial 2016 budget to enable President Muhammadu Buhari assent to it. In a joint statement yesterday, Chairman, Senate Appropriation Committee, Danjuma Goje and his House of Representatives counterpart, Abdulmumin Jibrin, asked the lawmakers to accede to President Buhari’s request on the matter in the interests of Nigerians. The duo of Goje and Jibrin also asked their colleagues to stop crucifying them and take responsibilities over the controversies in the budget to be able to resolve the impasse. Since the budget was passed and transmitted on March 23, President Buhari had refused to sign it into law. First he demanded to see the details and thereafter, withheld assent insisting that the budget he sent was tempered with. One of the things that was said to have been removed from the budget was the Lagos-Calabar rail project, which the legislature said was never included. The controversies raged on with the legislature resolving last week that its leaderships should meet with Buhari to resolve the grey areas he transmitted to NASS last week. However, the meeting did not appear to yield the desired result, with the lawmakers embarking on blame game, accusing the appropriation committees over the budget impasse. Consequently, the two chairmen came up to state their absolute surrender to Buhari’s will, asking their colleagues to do same as they also caused the problems. “Given the foregoing, and all factors considered, we hereby state that we have had enough controversy over the 2016 budget. “What is needful right now is a resolution of the differences and to that end, we call on our colleagues in the National Assembly to accede to the request by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to have a second look at the details and make the necessary adjustments so that he can assent. “This, in our opinion, should not go beyond this week. To the extent that there are already ongoing consultations, a debate about who is right or wrong is unhelpful in the circumstance; and in any case, does not advance the cause of our country men and women whose interest we have been elected to serve,” they stated. The duo regretted what they described as deluge of misinformation, misrepresentation and innuendoes about the roles played by their committees in in the course of passing the budget. “Even though most of the allegations, especially those specifically levelled against the two of us, as chairmen of the committee, are unfounded, we intend to respond to them at the appropriate time. “For now, what we consider important is to resolve the impasse around the budget and get it assented to so that its implementation can begin in the interest of all Nigerians. “However, we must put it on record that the details aggregated and transmitted to the executive are largely the inputs we received from the standing committees of both the Senate and the House of Representatives,” they added. According to them, consultations were already ongoing between the executive and the legislature on the document. “A debate about who is right or wrong is unhelpful in the circumstance; and in any case, does not advance the cause of our country men and women whose interest we have been elected to serve. “Nevertheless, we must commend President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara and the entire members of the National Assembly, members of the federal executive council, the minister of budget and the budget team for their cooperation even as we assure all Nigerians that we will do everything to protect and defend their interest, at all times,” the statement added. In a related development, National Secretary, All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Maimala Buni, said the support Nigerians were giving President Buhari in his quest to have a realistic budget, reflected the people’s faith in the present administration. Maimala, who stated this yesterday in Damaturu, Yobe State said Nigerians understood the desire of government to have a workable document which implementation would improve their lives. “It is evident that there is trust in government now and, Nigeria’s image has greatly improved before the international community, with an increased interest by foreign investors to invest in the country. “Every country is looking forward to doing business with Nigeria because we now have a president who is transparent, committed, incorruptible and trusted by Nigerian and the entire international community,” he said. The party scribe said Nigerian’s belief in the APC government was further demonstrated by the large turnout of voters in Saturday’s by- election in Yobe. “The large turnout in yesterday’s election and APC’s victory at the polls has consolidated the people’s faith in the party and President Buhari to improve their lives. “In spite of the hardships suffered by the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, they came out massively to elect APC because of their strong faith in the party and the leadership,” he said Meanwhile, another chieftain of the party, Sen. Chris Adighije, has expressed support for President Buhari’s decision to properly study the 2016 budget before signing the Appropriation Bill. Adighije, who made this known while speaking with newsmen yesterday in Abuja, advised Buhari to take several factors into consideration before accenting to the budget. He said the pressure created by the current challenges in the country should not be a reason for Buhari to sign the budget without proper verification. Adighije said the president needed to study the grey areas of the budget in order to establish the real intentions of the National Assembly. “I do not have the details of the budget with me, so it is difficult for me to say he should just sign; but I want him to study the grey areas carefully. “I think the so-called grey areas needed to be cleared before his accent. “All I want is for him to be meticulous and sign a budget that will be for the good of all Nigerians,” he said. On the persisting fuel scarcity, the senator appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the president. He expressed optimism that the APC-led Federal Government would restore normalcy in fuel supply, power and other sectors of the economy in no distant time. http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/appropriation-cttees-set-to-rework-2016-budget/
