xandy84: Why can't the writer be civil and not result to name calling of former president? After taking time to write an insightful article, he ruined it with name calling as if he's points would not be heard without insult.. We need a lot to learn in Nigeria.. Seriously... He went too far. He threw tact out the window and so to with it went his almost well thought views. His vitriol was uncalled for. Pieces like this only deepen the wound. We need to heal. |

meccuno: please, people have been taking about the lands igbos lost to rivers from imo and abia states. But I don't know about the land in benue state....please can you explain that to me? During some state creations there where some communities that got annexed away from the SE. http://thenationonlineng.net/agony-igbos-benue/http://www.mynewswatchtimesng.com/forgotten-igbo-communities-in-benue/tysontim: No that is part of the compromise, besides Benue won't have to be Afraid as they have their own region free from the core North That's unfortunate. After I read what they are going through my heart bleeds for them. They need to be brought back into the fold if the local govt won't carry them along. |

The people who want the government to fail seem to not comprehend that they must dwell within the failed state. |
Politics › When Do The Mda's Receive Their Allocations Now That The Budget Has Been Signed? by LoveMachine(op): 12:41am On May 08, 2016 |
I've readministers such as Amaechi, Ngige and Fashola speak of waiting for and needing the budget to get signed before any meaningful work may be done or achieved. With the implementation of the TSA have the MDA's already been given their share of budget or will that take more time? When do local gov'ts get their money as well? Any info will be greatly appreciated. |

Politics › Presidency Studies New Budget Details by LoveMachine(op): 6:32am On May 04, 2016 |
http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/presidency-studies-new-budget-details/145247.htmlPresidency officials including ministers are studying the budget details submitted by the panel constituted to address the grey areas noticed in the fiscal document, Daily Trust has gathered. Sources in the presidency said copies of the document which were submitted at the early hours of Tuesday have been made available to ministers and other members of the executive for, “final scrutiny” before assent by President Muhammadu Buhari. It was gathered last night that at the beginning of the scrutiny, the presidency officials have raised issues over some items. The budget processes have been back and forth following the inclusion of N40billion projects in works ministry, 386 projects in agriculture ministry and the removal of Lagos-Calabar rail, among others by the National Assembly. A source in the presidency who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they were working hard to enable the President assent the budget this week. “We have received a copy for preview. Ministers will look at what they have done so that it will be agreed fully that this is what will be presented. What we have is the preview copy, not the final copy that will be forwarded,” he said. He said the grey areas “are being eliminated one by one. And Nigerians will be happy when the budget is passed. They are being eliminated and reduced. It will be a budget for Nigeria made by Nigerians.” Another presidency source said the new errors discovered are being addressed jointly by the executive and legislature. The source declined to disclose the errors but said he was optimistic that the new errors would be trashed out today. In a telephone interview at the end of a meeting of the budget panel, the Senate Leader Ali Ndume said all the grey areas had been addressed. “We have concluded our job at the joint committees of the presidency and National Assembly on the budget. We have succeeded in ironing out the grey areas. Now, what is left is for us to produce clean copies for the president to sign,” he said by 10pm yesterday. He also denied that the report of their committee had been rejected. |

amaechi1: Dear Mr President,
People chose to call you confused and old leader, but I see a man that is focused and has the strong will to redirect this nation to the part of honour. You might be slow, but I am convinced you know your destination- a better nigeria with a system that works. I rather be slow and get to my destination safely, than to be quick and be a victim of failure. Never, in the history of this country, that a President has held the greedy and selfish NASS assembly by the "ball" without moving "Ghana must go" around. Sir, at the resumption of your office you gave a standing order for full implementation of TSA. Today at the touch of button, Nigeria would know their balance sheet. That was practice during the time of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Awololo. Those were days of great Nigeria. Back to the root is the foundation of our progress.
God Bless PMB God Bless good people of Nigeria. Nice to see someone who gets the big picture. |

BP set to pay largest environmental fine in US history for Gulf oil spill
BP will pay $18.7bn after the justice department and four states sued Money will be divided among states and earmarked for cleanup projects The 2010 disaster at BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig caused devastating pollution in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP has agreed to pay a record environmental fine of $18.7bn to settle legal actions brought by the US and several states over the fatal 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The US justice department, along with the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas and Florida, all sued BP for damages not covered by the company’s earlier settlements with businesses and individuals harmed by the worst offshore spill in US history.
The settlement ends all litigation between BP, the states and the US government and allows the company to pay over 18 years. BP’s share price rose on the news.
