NDA seems different. If they are well only time will tell. From this release they may be wearing the armor of truth. If that's the case then things will be very different very soon. I must say it is interesting to see the bloc owners names on paper. Northern poor people should be livid just as the SS'ers are. Some have so much and te refuse to do right and share. What's wrong with people?

well Fashola's analogy then was that the oil price glut is supposed to bring down the price of PMS. Now your analysis says the opposite. Who do I believe? You or Fashola?

I thank God peeps like Gimba Kakanda and Pius Adesanmi (who have no GEJ or PMB bias) exist. You lots (including the Omenka I used to respect b4) would have made it difficult for one to get objective political analysis.
Believe the person who is correct. All I give is the info that I have. I'm not an insider nor an expert just a regular guy on NL. I don't claim to have all the answers. I use common sense, intelligence in combination with whatever info I've acquired through publications.

If you have a better explanation please deliver it. I'm not afraid of admitting I'm wrong when faced with truth. All I want is what's best. That goes for everything.

You are the type of parent that tells his kid(s) "In my days I was first in all tests and exams." And the kid knows you are lying but keeps silent out of respect. Do you think you are talking to your kids? huh huh huh
Parent? Not yet my friend. But thanks for the optimism.

As for being biased believe what you want. Look at the people in both parties. People are literally killing themselves for these men and yet they smile together at functions. As I said the only horse I have in the race is Naija winning. Sects change but the nation remains.

now that's a better and more objective way of supporting the decision of the govt and not reminding us how we always blame the APC... they are in power and when their decisions will bite hard on us, they take the blow... instead of you guys to come here and make it look like we are crazy for complaining, give us a reason not to. in other countries, do they use the fuel to run their generators at home? you can decide to park your car at home and use the public transport, here the prices has gone up 100%. just like the tariff hike, I still use the old meter that is estimated, even if I decide not to use electricity again, they keep bringing the bill, so I have no choice but to use it. So what I am trying to say is, it's not just looking at the policies, but it's effect on the people. subsidy removal, good one but how wil it affect the poor man, what has the govt provided to make sure he doesn't die of suffering. I'm not daft to know oil subsidy removal is the best policy, I am looking at its immediate effect on the masses. and it just doesn't look good. we have suffered a lot. why run round a circle all this while?
Everything is always politicized. Everyone is bring up what people said years ago as if the situation hasn't changed. A few years ago I said it was wonderful what Diezani was doing at NNPC because she was the first black woman to head OPEC. Now not so much. Should I be held to not being able to change my outlook?

I'm not debating the hardship because that is obvious. I'm disappointed in people always blaming the wrong causes.

Your second writeup is a brilliant account of what is occurring. Not emotional in the least! I won't even attempt to refute your stance because you're correct. You've plainly stating your gripes without attributing blame to anything but policy. That's what is on trial.

The "change" budget has social initiatives that should counter the hardships. They are about to inject massive amounts of Naira into the system. People will begin to get jobs and earn. With more cash some of these issues will subside.

Honestly, this was an ill timed change in policy. They've been running from pillar to post trying to end scarcity, control forex/ hyper inflation and massive blackouts after all this time of not being able to tame it they decided to drop the bombshell of a new price in petrol.

I have high hopes and nothing but prayers for the next few months. This is make or break time for us my brother.

Kbs468:
Brother, I don't think if our leaders-Every OPEC members inclusive actually thinkered about diversification in it genuineness as a means of revenue generation, would they have connived into cutting down the IRANIAN production quota?

I mean if that decision wasn't reached, then going by the visit of PMB to IRAN, I guess Nigeria might be a destination for IRAN'S petrol by now as the benefit of trade and economic partnership agreement signed then. Thereby making the quantity available to us surplus in addition to the locally produced quantity.

And that should naturally breakdown the price for local consumption rather than this price hiking policy tended towards the same surplus quantity ideology.

I mean, because we want to earn foreign exchange from petroleum, we then collaborated with others into punishing ourselves via hardship again.

Come on, was that why our forefathers sort after independence?
I never looked at it this way.

shut your mouth, shut your mouth ok... you don't live in Nigeria right, does Saudi Arabia import the product? go out there and see the effect the hike is already having. just stick to telling us we need to suffer before things gets better instead of this.
When did all these tough guys invade NL? I swear! You weigh less than a buck twenty with a pocket full of rocks but you'll fix your hands to type something so brazen.

Now onto your ridiculous post. These gov'ts aren't risking social unrest and political upheaval just for the sake of it.

There is no other option at hand. Saudi just fired their oil minister after 20 years of service because he essentially caused this by trying to kill us shale. Obama pulled a fast one on him when he removed Oran's sanctions and allowed us shale to export.

These are trying times for the global economy. I'm not of the train of thought that says things have to get worse to get better. The suffering must stop immediately but I won't jump out the window on policy that is in line with the present global economy.

Get your mind right.

But tbf, those are countries who have constant power supply. They only really need the fuel for vehicles. In Nigeria everything is powered by petroleum.
They even cut electricity subsidies. I see what you are saying though. This isn't an easy situation any way we cut it. All I know is we haven't come this far just to come this far. We'll win in the end. We are a mighty people.

will u just shut up hypocrite or didn't u get d Op's topic? During GEJ admin what did u guys n PMB say then
C'mon fam no need for all that. Hypocrite? Not at all.

During the high crude season to deregulate would have been a problem. At present with the fall in price of crude coupled with the shortage of forex due in large part to the jamboree of looting the continuation of subsidy seems impossible.

Buhari said he would end subsidy and he has. That would seem to me as though he has made good on a campaign promise.

I'm not pro-APC nor pro-PDP. I'm pro-Naija! I love my people and I want to see us win. I supported the last gov't just like I will support the present gov't and the following. If and when they misstep I'll do my part to help them get back on their feet and provide good governance. I can't play opposition politics because I'm not a politician. I pray every elect official does an amazing job!

GEJ did some good things while in office but not enough to retain the presidency. At present, APC is in the Villa. I'd prefer to see them make good on their campaign promises. This past year has been rough but won't lie the GEJ years were bar none the roughest time of my life.

Even if Baba said so then, so what?? Are the conditions the same?? Una dey too damn emotional, these shildrens (apologies to Mama Peace).
Dubai, Saudi Arabia and other countries just cut their subsidies as well. The oil glut is hurting all of OPEC but it's easier to blame APC. Luckily, Nairaland doesn't determine gov't policy.
