deji68: nope....the only way is deregulation or selling it let the gov keep some shares......Let demand and supply determine the price, that is the only way u can have accountability. But everybody protested against it Read this. LRNZH: But the four in Warri, Kaduna and Port Harcourt are barely functional. That's why we pay subsidy to the 'cabal' that imports these fuel, wasting hard earned foreign exchange from Crude oil sales. Either do a turn around maintenance for the four (or even two at least). Alternatively, privatise them and encourage the private sector to get them back to functional status. GEJ missed this opportunity. He has lost my vote. "You can't be looking for money while you allow rodents eat the small cash you have". Gov't has failed nigerians woefully too many times it makes promises. So Nigerians dont trust Gov't. Ok look, after the January, 2012 subsidy riots, GEJ promised that two refineries will be functional with the partial subsidy removal money. Where are the functional refineries? Nowhere to be found. You now expect Nigerians to agree to total subsidy removal aka deregulation meanwhile they're yet to see the promise from the last time. It is give and take. If the Gov't can get say two refineries working as promised then it is easier to preach total deregulation. No body trusts the kleptomaniac Gov't. |

seee ehnnnn.... chelsea dey looose and I dey vex so I no go talk again.... If GEJ had taken a concrete action on the refineries, he would have dismantled the cabal without a single committee, lawsuit or tribunal. It is a missed opportunity. Bro I dey watch the match too. |

shakazuldadon: we have 4 petrol refineries abi..... bros why do we build more when the existing are not performing optimally... the pib bill would help address some of these issues. the prohibitive cost and time frame dosent help. dangote is building one already. I almost got upset when u said security before transport.. and the fuel before light. how many companies have closed or left naija. because of light issues.. all the sectors have to move in sync with little lag for true development....
Again I ask you bros do we give contracts for new refineries when the ones we have are not producing 100 percent..?
should we deny people trains to move their goods and services because of book haram in 2 states.....?
do u stop going to school because your church agbada has torn? But the four in Warri, Kaduna and Port Harcourt are barely functional. so 1 sector should be put on hold because there are challenge s in another. do u know how many traders can move their goods faster now.. don't forget that NRC are collecting salaries and allocation every month. so they shouldnt work again.
as for power.. Mr president dosent need to build new refineries when. the ones we have before have been mismanaged but I implore you to use what mb u have left and google power plants built from scratch by Jòna and working... omotosho2, oloronsongo 1, 2, azure, the coal fired plant in Edo.
Google power plants constructef by good luck.... I expect educated Nigeria to complain that they are single cycle plants instead of double cycle plants which are more durable and efficient Are you a learner? When I talk about Refineries it is different from Power. By refining our own fuel and even exporting some, we save hard earned forex from Crude oil sales that we use for importing fuel. That's more hard currency for executing world class projects instead of crying everytime oil price coughs. Get a handle on the issues please. I still have some respect for your opinion. |

you expect to sleep and wake up in Us or France. even GMB is not a magician as you know.
being labelled as biggest economy in Africa brings more investments into the country.....but the impacts of which cannot be felt immediately..

dragon2: My brother, based on the European definition of High Speed rail, the U.S. practically has no High Speed Rail for all intent and purposes. I get your point. But if you notice, the US focuses more on highways and car transport. Their road transport development has no rival in the world. They use trains more for cargo freight. If I remember well, only NY has an advanced intra city rail network. |

Feraz: Where's that guy that was talking about wider windscreen? This and Ghana, which is wider? Let me educate you. The Eurostar trains are controlled electronically with intelligent network grids. They don't depend much on the view of the train driver as they're electric. The Nigerian and Ghanaian trains (unlike South African and Moroccan trains) are manually controlled with the driver pushing all the levers and looking at his front for obstacles or condition s of the track. All he does with the station is to communicate the train location and status to by radio. The train drivers line of sight and area of view is a safety concern in this case. You're welcome. |

weezii: Na only Sentiments dey kill us for this country.
We always fail to accept development, rather we choose to castigate virtually every little progress we make.
@Op... Please answer the following to prove that you're sure of what you're saying
- how long has trains been in existence in majority of these countries you're busy displaying their "best" trains like you said? - are you better off with no trains at all than with "refurbished" trains like you claim? - must you condemn a government to prove that your candidate for the next election "GMB" like you say is the messiah?
My prayer is that we all live to survive the "hell" we are unconsciously building for ourselves cos of this 2015 elections. You have spoken like a concerned gentleman and I will reply you as such. The three most important priorities for Nigeria today are: Security, Power and Refineries. I have not even included Checking Corruption.
Why focus on the 6th or 7th priority while there's no progress on the top 3? If we have constant power and stop importing PMS, AGO, DPK, bitumen we can even build electric trains here in Nigeria using borrowed technology.
Afterall 5 or so years of GEJ's Gov't, see the level of progress. refurbished diesel locos.
Have you seen pictures of the stations? Nothing to write home about. Nothing integrated about the project.
I assure you if GEJ wins in 2015 all these projects will be abandoned and you will hear it's because of low oil prices. Happy Holidays. |
