You made a lot of silly gaffes. First America didn't invade up to ten countries.

Secondly the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq were not failures. The two governments were deposed. Iraq still runs a democracy till today. For Afghan, after the occupation of the US ended, the installed government of Afghanistan was the failure not the US.

Hostomel airport facilities has been destroyed by artillery fire and is practically useless now. Russian troops have mostly left there to other fronts.

Heavy fighting is still ongoing in Maruipol. The city isn't taken yet. There's also nothing to indicate that Russia intends to or will succeed in taking Odessa. That's wishful thinking from your head.

I talked about close air support missions and not flying sorties at 50k ft to release cruise missiles.

Iraq had a modern airforce that was made up of several SU-22, Mig 25, Mig 29. Due to the strength of the airforce and military. Op Desert Storm was the war that saw the highest losses of US aircraft. Not very high though

A battalion 2ic (Major) = 1

Yep. Re the bolded, some people here were so getting a boner on small team tactics, they well calling battalion+ exercises outdated.
Algeria regularly holds division-sized exercises and the wankers are rightly shtum.

Meanwhile here in SA, we rightly complain that we haven't had exercises bigger than a brigade for years.

To be fair though, what in Nigeria and elsewhere constitutes a battalion (500-600 pax) isn't the same in SA and elsewhere (1000-1200 pax). So before even talking about how they're equipped, the conceptual effect of exercises for battalion, brigade, division is malleable and not the same.

So looking at numbers alone, a Lt Col commanding 500+ men in a typical NA battalion, is doing the same job as a major in a SA battalion. This is not a diss, but a simple comparison by numbers, of the structures chosen by the 2 countries.
To illustrate, a French major is the most senior NCO rank, and commands the same number of pax as the officer Lt Col in the NA battalion; and officer major in the SA battalion.

That non-commissioned French major has more equipment and assets at his disposal than both NA & SA Army officers at the equivalent personnel numbers.

Nigeria recently realised almost 2 billion dollars for weapons purchase with the air force getting nearly 1 billion dollars.

Although the description in the supplementary budget is vague, the Air Force did indicate purchase of new aircrafts as a requirement.

What that is, is left for speculation, but with the need for day & night attack helicopters, defence enthusiasts can only but speculate.

Their own requirements were even more descriptive than Airforce and Army.
DHQ is also buying stuff for many joint ops.

Interestinhly, most aircraft manufacturers are now asking for 100% upfront payment so we are not going to be seeing procurements in 3s and 4s any longer.
