The economic situation is dire currently because of covid-19 so the only solution is to acquire a cheap reliable aircraft and according to the the article Kuwait is willing to sell it with a really low price with the approve of the US who is willing to upgrade it , sadly the replacement of the F-5 cannot wait until the economic crisis ends.
Ok thank you for your valid explanation and once again Sincere Congratulations to Tunisia.

Tunisia in talks with Kuwait for the purchase of the Kuwaiti F-18 Hornets.

The F-18 Hornets will likely be modernized in the United States before integrating the Tunisian Air Force
Kuwait has 40 F/A-18 Hornets, delivered after the Gulf war.
If the #Tunisian Air Force manages to acquire the KAF F-18s and upgrade it, it will solve the TAF urgent need for a main fighter in the short term at least.
First of let me congratulate Tunisia in acquiring the F-18s , I also do not want to appear to criticize Tunisia , however i do have an important question :
Why would Tunisia acquire an aging plane ( 20+ years ) that will almost immediately require upgrades/ modernization needs , it will also require almost certain Periodic Depot Maintenance due to its age . I understand the need to acquire such a US Asset but why not go for something more modern

You don’t have enough equipment it has nothing do with Training. Period emphasis.
The US reinvented the largest Tank in the world to able to withstand an IED blast.
They scrapped the Original Hummer and reinforced it with double thick doors and Chassis.
The best trained Soldiers blown to bits because you put him in a Thin skinned Toyota Hilux is not common sense.
You need 24 Hour surveillance of ALL your Super camps and Fobs that is not an expensive it is keeping your Men alive.
You don’t Train dead Men.
A Helicopter can can carry 25 men 100Km at a Optimum speed of 100km/hr in 1hour with weapons and equipment.
You need 12 of those.
These are facts.
We need to end this War by 2022.

Our soldiers don't need more equipment.

What we need is good training and a standardization of procurement process.
Respectfully I disagree
They need more equipment
12 xMI-171e to ferry troops
12 more SURVEILLANCE DRONES ensure 24 hour intel over the most attacked zones
The TUSCANOS are coming.
please if you don't believe me , we need to get grid of every single think skinned Toyota hilux and yellow buckets replace them with 500APCS and
1000MRAPS.
It takes 15 years to get to MAJ -15-20 to get to LT.COL we cant keep losing LT.COLS TO IEDs

Proforce would be able to roll out over 200 armoured vehicles per month with just $60m grant from the government to build a bigger manufacturing plant. But it is what it is
Please let us not over exaggerate . What PROFORCE needs right now is a cash infusion to expand their factory for that to happen they would need to acquire a guaranteed order of 100 MRAPS. As it is right now PROFORCE is probably producing at MAX CAPACITY to fufil contractual orders from CHAD and other CUSTOMERS they may not be able to take on multiple orders at the same time with limited skilled staff , and space .
The money would be a great help , however PROFORCE next step is to get multi- year guaranteed orders this is called financial confidence that most defence companies need in order to invest more funds .

Anticipated induction of new frigate to enhance the war fighting capability of the Nigerian Navy

Now focus will be on Country of Manufacture and type of Frigate.

It is an aberration to say Nigeria has no Navy but a Coast Guard. Nigeria does have a viable Navy the largest in West Africa by number of ships, tonnage and personnel with more importantly increased hours at sea and the necessary assets for contemporary threats which reflects positively on its leadership, capacity building, priorities, planning and manpower resources.

It should be accurate to say the Nigerian Navy begun a recapitalization programme from inside out rather than from outside in. Having missile Frigates or submarines is prestigious but it is not exactly what defines a Navy. The Nigerian Navy is following apace on its modernization programme with available resources at its disposal and doing so in my estimation decently with recent acquisitions of modern vessels in their class and if the trend continues will have the assets in place to put it in an enviable position in sub-saharan Africa something Senegal with its potential FACs can't match and don't have the resources to do so.

Contrast this with the South African Navy which without capacity went for prestigious Valour Frigates without ASW capabilities and Subs without the necessary skilled set leaving you a near moribund Navy more in port than at sea. The South African Navy is now following on the heels of Nigeria's acquisition choices though not too decently whilst the Nigerian Navy is on course for the attainment of its geo-strategic and national security imperatives in the Gulf of Guinea.

The P18Ns are modern OPVs capable of surface, air and underwater warfare. They have more tonnage than those of Bangladesh. If the Nigerian Navy wanted missiles on them they would but that would mean more costs for maintenance and other factors quite unnecessary for the tasks they are meant. The OPVs are part of the medium term acquisition goals of Nigerian Navy planners.

Patrols and been at sea are more of importance to a Navy than prestige assets docked in port without the resources to engage them. As for the North Africans they have a different threat envelope and are arming accordingly.
They still should of built the UNITY AND CENTENARY with MISSILE capability regardless .The premise that Nigeria procures stuff piecemeal is accurate . it does not detract from the fact they want to buy a frigate
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by LTGEN: 9:23am On Apr 21, 2021

They are to lobby government to procure a frigate.

They are just in the lobbying stage, not even an RFI or RFQ has been sent to manufacturers.

This is the first time they have publicly stated plans are in motion to buy one.
IMHO
Nigeria should return to Germany there is Good Solid History there.
They can implement a Contract whereby say after 10 years there will be a System upgrade of both Electronic and FCSs and Missile Systems.
For such a FlagShip . Nigeria must be very deliberate who Should not be in the running to build a Ship that would costs in the neighborhood of $250-$300M
The only other Country that should be considered is China.
There is good history there also. There should be an understanding of a Timeline with what type of TOT will be given to NN Engineers.
This has to be part of the package.

Ukrainian army only has 150 units of Oplot M, the bulk of Ukraine army tank consists of T-62's.

The Ukrainian Air Force is practically nonexistent, consisting of very old MIG-29s, SU-27 and SU-25 fighter jets.

The T-72B3 is considered to be one of the world's best tank, taking into account cost, production, firepower and quantity.

Russia has the world's second largest military.
The UKRANIANS are a corrupt bunch and not even worth the hassle . In 2009-20014 They sold second hand Helicopters to Nigeria ...... and also Tanks with one utterly corrupt regime dealing with another corrupt regime the inevitable would happen the Tanks were not delivered on time or even at all . There actually is a y - tube video of their shenanigans. The Congolese Army also ordered T-62 Tanks during that time : Red tape , Ukrainians demonstrating outside the Tank Factory asking why the T-62S were not sent to THEIR War front would put an end to that disgraceful saga . An embarrassed NIGERIA would have to turn the CZECH republic who would give them SURPLUS to REQUIREMENTS base model T72 Tanks it would be 2016/2017 before Ivan would get over the fact that Nigeria voted with the West over the annexation of Crimea . IVAN in 2015 would tell the OUTGOING GEJ administration next time just vote NEUTRAL before they would sell Nigeria Brand New MI-35s and MI-171E . Nigeria would get the spares for the T72s from Russia, Serbia and the CZECH Republic. Nigeria rued the day she did biz with the Ukrainians.

I don't think It would be that easy for Russia to sweep easily Ukraine aside. Yeah, Ukraine would be defeated in a conflict with Russia but it won't be an easy defeat and Russia would have a lot to lose in such a conflict. Remember if the Ukrainian army isn't that of 2014 and if Russia had not intervened, Ukraine would have crushed those separatists by now.
Culturally and linguistically East Ukraine is considered Russian if you grew up in Eastern Ukraine in the 50s,60s and 70s You spoke Russian as a second language , if you were academically gifted you were likely to go to Top Russian University. My Ex Boss was born in the UKRAINE , however he would tell you he is Russian, What's the difference he would say.
It would be a horrible mistake for Ukraine to ATTEMPT) to join NATO , in the belief that Russia would not invade Ukraine ( They would) and the US WILL NOT INTERVENE on a MILITARY level.
Two years ago PUTIN re- built A MASSIVE bridge in record time linking Russia directly with Ukraine , the Black Sea is patrolled and owned and has been rechristened the Russian Navy.
Since last month IVAN has sent a fully supported kitted out division to its border with UKRAINE " for training purposes".
Next Month Biden and Putin will meet ( my prediction part 1)
My prediction part 2):
Ukraine will not join NATO because the US will advise them it is not a good idea.
My prediction part 3):
With half of the Country on their side it would take IVAN will take a week to overrun UKRAINE ( West Ukraine), but Russia will NOT invade UKRAINE .

And you're telling me all this why? Do you see a single mention of Nigeria in what I posted?
What does South Africa need good luck for? Paramount Group, a private company bought the helicopters for its clients and for its helicopter flight training academy.
I wasn't telling you anything , if you read my comments , one more time ,I commended South Africa for acquiring the HELIOS , I tried to kill two birds with one stone , there were two different comments where it was stated that Nigeria did not buy or sought a donation for these helicopters , that was what I was responding to.
Not everything is a fight between S'Africa and Nigeria , I want S'AFRICA to kick ass in Mozambique .

There is already, under freedom of information act, and the Constitution and other laws like crimwnil law and tort, and even the recent hate speech act.Tort made provision for it under libel as a civil remedy... while crimnwl law criminalises it under defamation, no need to make a special law, otherewse it will be duplicity of laws which this country is already suffering from.
Agreed , but there is need to be a social media that puts a special onus on social responsibility of TREBLE financial damages on the part of the Newspaper that happens in the UK and the US. Nigeria has very weak defamation laws that is why there is a glaring lack of investigative journalism.
In the US , Fox News will pay a heavy financial price for its irresponsibility as well as quite few individuals who constantly peddled false news .

Paramount Group scooped over 30 ex-UK military Gazelles on an auction.

Two of them have already been sold and delivered to the Mozambique Air Force this month.

SA341B now registered FA-083 (WA1966) (ex-ZB673) and SA341B, new registration FA-085 (WA1435) (ex-XX445) were both spotted in Nacala Airport, Moz.

The rest of the machines, in excellent mechanical condition, are being readied for export from the UK.
This is the exact opposite of what NIGERIA currently needs right now , were Nigeria to even accept such a gift or buy such silly helicopters it would mean corrupt practices have reared its ugly head:
What NIGERIA needs :
MI-171 E - Because it has Troop carrying capabilities , NAF pilots are already trained on it so there is no need to send Pilots abroad for expensive lessons.
When the NA sets up it NA Aviation wing it should be for a helicopter that is still being manufactured and will have the ability to purchase spare parts .
Good Luck to South Africa and Mozambique on their purchase , NIGERIA should concentrate on the MI-171e and the Augusta 139 ARMED VERSION .

(1) The Big foot MRAPS from China said to of shipped this month.
(2) The 24x MB346 much as i have discounted it , it has been refused to go away and until I see counter reports I am going to go out on a limb at this point and say it is True.
(3) There is this persistent nagging feeling that the NN is doing something in Germany , the BEST the NN will admit to is they have a project ongoing in Germany , I think we should be patient , there is a lot more to what is going on than SIPRI.
