giles14:It is extremely important that Nigeria acquires these UAVs for the NAF now. This is not a question of National pride but one of National pragmatism. Currently Nigeria as advanced as her surveillance assets are relative to Africa needs them to be enhanced as an immediate priority . In an ideal world all that would be true.Nigeria technology-wise is not there yet. Amebo's loitering time is not advanced enough. Nigeria needs surveillance UAVs with more advanced surveillance capabilities now. The issues surrounding distant places like Gamboru-Ngala , Doran-Bama, and the Niger Delta will not be solved by the current UAV Amenities without enhanced surveillance assets. The N.N. which technology wise is at the forefront of the Armed Forces recognized this,it is this belief that led to the procurement of the Falcon surveillance system . 2 Likes |

Henry240:If you noticed the NAF and the NA just finished joint coin training which involved rappelling into Hot Areas. This might be the reason why the NAF opted for the Dauphin .The HC135 is an excellent Helio for ISR.The encased rotors further muffle the noise from the Engine.l read up on this Birdie right after I saw the now famous NAF303, which was first used by the PMCs in 2015. The NAF Chief Air Marshall Sadique Abubbakar is putting his Stamp in the NAF 1.The recently completed Barracks,in Kano and Port Harcourt 2.The up grade of the ISRs NAF201,202 and 203 to finally include the cameras. 3.The expanded aprons at Yola for the incoming aircraft 4.The now revealed plans for the NAF to double it's application intake and to increase the number of Pilots being trained. I hope this will continue because there is a lot to be done . The NAF is also helping out in Niger it is hoped the NAF will also train more QRF because they are going to be needed in the Niger Delta.  |

Katyusha:It does seem a little bit obsessive of you to keep worrying about another Country's procurement, and a tad bit confusing, since Nigeria is currently getting both the trainer version of the MUSCHAK (Sp?) as well as sending Nigerian Airforce Personnel to both S'Africa and the U.K and Pakistan. The idea that because Nigeria has no Supersonic advanced trainer that the JF 17 would be flown by PAF contractors is insulting, apart from the UK and South Africa, Nigeria currently sends Pilots for training in the US, and in answer to your question, No the JF-17 will be flown by Nigerians  |

Henry240:I am not quite sure where this fits in the scheme of things but this piece of News has been trending for quite a while. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/germany-begins-supply-of-military-hardware-to-nigeria/ One thing that is becoming increasingly apparent is that the NAF is increasingly following the path of the NN in gradually re-equipping itself and letting the public know, It would be good to know what kind of Ground radar systems are being supplied, ditto the mine clearing equipment, Lastly I am not keen on any Gunboats made outside Nigeria at this stage, maybe they are of some special design that Nigeria does not make, the conventional thinking is these type of boats are already being made in Nigeria.  |

Thank you Mr henry it is the reason why even when given certain information, I withhold information till I actually see the products in the field. I refuse to be drawn into senseless arguments however the proof is that prior to January 2016: 1) The Nigerian Army did not display at least in the photos we have seen an extensive collection of HKs 2) In q1 2015 "EDWARD" showed us the satellite images of the Gazelles and they have since been painted with Camouflage colors 3)The recent picture of the Eurocopter EC 45 shows two (2) of them with the one in the background clearly shown wit the identifying Encased Rotor. Now this: http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=43624 It may help if all us refrain from expressing our political prejudices and concentrate on making this thread and Nigeria a well - equipped professional armed force, this is the go to thread now that Mr Beegeagle has become a political commentator, this thread seems to be one of the few left. |

Henry240:As long as the procurement is done G2 TO G2 and the current market price is what is paid then we can slightly relax. There was a supplemental Emergency procurement soon after PMB came to power. The UK it is strongly believed sent a Naval warship chock full of small arms late December 2015 early 2016 . There also was a meeting the results of that meeting are becoming clearer by the day ( This is a fact, i cannot say anything else) |

Let me try and explain a little bit.Depending on the Rifle,drum magazines are not used as frequently,what we have seen are the rectangular boxes.What we tend to have nowadays depending on the Rifle is a tiny button that allows for quick reloading of Magazines. SF even in Nigeria have been seen carrying 10mags per man,so it does appear the drum as we know it at least the circular one is going out of existence.  |

Do you know that the money was actually recovered, or do you need to interview the person who built the third septic tank. I would share your not so funny jokes, if the former CAS had not actually returned the money. Ukpo it would even funnier if the Current CAS was banned from any significant posts because he refused to steal money.And has insisted only brand new Equipment or G2-G2 In light of you continuing, on a political rant you should be very loud in praising since the non stealing previous administration brought in 6 years two Helicopters and two aircraft, I also found that very funny that the NAF was fixing 1960bombs on Alpha Jets, because they were well equipped. |
