Henry240:First let me commend our S'African brothers for the successful Operation Amani event which saw the deployment of Brigade size regiments with Logistic in tow. This is the problem were this to use a metaphor to be a Football game they would be considered set pieces I.e. free kicks, Corner Kicks and Penalty Shootouts. Let me explain the worst of the Boko Haram took place in the built up areas of the North East, ditto what is happening in Syria and now Mosul. Until BH was kicked to no-man's-land between Nigeria )Chad and Niger this the most likely scenario South Africa is more likely to face, where Battle fields will range over hundreds of kilometers /Miles stretching your Logistics thin and putting a strain on your Air and land logistics. Set pieces will never work in Goma (Congo). Neither will it work in Mali, I chose these two places to overexaggerate the effect of the vastness between cities. A particular operation that should of taken place would of realistically be rescuing a company( 300 men) surrounded by hostiles in a chaotic environment where things do not exactly go right. Then you will find out whether it is the system or the Core Leadership that gets it right. |
diehardanusfan:@Wingback obviously you are an American or fascinated with American Military hardware. This is strictly an African Military thread can you please not post pictures or better yet go to an American Military Blog.. Thank you in advance . |
bidexiii:The pain killers and the Glucose means Boko Haram is either carrying a Lot of bh Terrorists with gunshot wounds or shrapnel /fragmentation wounds in additional a lot of sick people. |
Excellent work I hope this Eagle eyed Sniper is not only promoted but when his rotation is up he and other Snipers share their experiences Question 1.What did he see? Question 2.When did he make the decision to scope (sight) such suspect. Question 3.What was Suspect's body language like. These types of lessons have to be shared with the First year Lieutenants and Final year NDA Candidates. Once again job well done. |
http://punchng.com/major-captain-others-held-leaking-information-bharam/ There is a gentleman by the name of SHEYI who at the slightest form of BAD NEWS will come here to report breathlessly about any set back and then will be gone for days on end. The other day PREMIUM TIMES reported that the LT.COL who was missing his second in command had now assigned to take over..... The CAPTAIN. anyone who has any decency will know that the rank preceding LT.COL is MAJOR it is news like this that makes me cautious of believing halfheartedly what is written in Nigerian newspapers , something apparently happened the details are apparently murky however one should be cautious believing" unnamed/ anonymous "sources. It does appear some Soldiers are missing while most have being rescued or have been found. |
Does anyone know who was Commander Ugwu.? |
The Coronet was designed by the Russians to take out Any Tank .Placed in the right or wrong hands it will wreak destruction.Regardless .The MI Abrams Tank sold to the Iraqi army is a step lower in terms of protection compared to the US version and the version sold to the Saudis. Having said that Houthi Rebels have captured and destroyed these same Tanks. No Tank regardless of its protection is immune. The first MI Abrams Tank to be disabled was done by an RPG that hit one of it's vulnerable spots. |
Russia is playing a very Risky game, the same type of Game America overreacting to simple events in the Ukraine.Britain exited from the E.U.not from the NATO.Britain out of all Nations has recent experiences in sinking Ships and recently spent over $2B on a Single Ship. This Russian Ship is far from home a fact not lost on NATO with its most Advanced Planes .Subs from Scotland and Sweden and Norway would sink this Ship in Minutes. Russia should not overplay it's hand over simple spats and it does not entail it showing its most Advanced goods. |
Commentators @ Sheyi and Deway Please exercise a little bit of patience about the incident 15 miles from the border with Niger, agreed something bad/ terrible happened .Premium times most of the time is credit worthy, however we honestly don't know whom their sources are, the Nigerian Army as usual is doing a horrible job handling an already tense situation by withholding what they know, this however might not be unconnected with the fact that some Soldiers are still missing. The Nigerian army needs to be more forthcoming or else we are going to continue to see this breathless anonymous not allowed to speak on the record or even worse. I hope and pray that all hands are on Deck to rescue/ recover all the missing areas and a thorough investigation as to what really happened and who was in command of this unit. |
http://punchng.com/akpobolokemi-ex-army-general-diverted-n1-8bn-nimasa-funds-witness/ Maj. Gen Atewe ( rtd) as Brigadier Atewe was at one time in charge of the JTF for the Niger delta region , initially he appeared to be doing a good job in halting bunkering, as time went by under his command kidnapping rose, oil theft was a major cause of concern , with some residents saying such illegal business, could not take place without senior military officers looking the other way.. MAJ.Gen Atewe is now undergoing a trial in which he is accused of enriching himself with kickbacks and bribery, it is no coincidence that since he left the Niger Delta, the oil bunking operations have hit a very hard time with the NAF and the NN making life utterly miserable for the illegal operations that used to go unabated, It is important for the FGN to prosecute not just the little guys but also where compelling evidence is shown to prosecute the top guys. |
This is very good news |
jteku:1) It most likely would have weight & Structural Issues. 2) Right as a great boost to NAF morale even though it has been an open secret that one of the Helos has been used as a med vac the fact that it is now been fully turned over to the NAF It demostrates an urgency placed on the lives of our Soldiers. 3) One of these HELOS is needed in the N'East full time as a Troop Carrier/ Logistics support. This is my face all day long. |
Henry240:This is the best news of the day to think i would witness the day that both of these HELICOPTERS which are among the most advanced in the world have been handed over to the NAF , I do not know who is more GIDDY the NAF Chief Sadique Abubakar or myself. Thank God for common sense, this shows the NAF has turned the corner finally and literally form the dregs of Badeh to the cream of Sadique Abubakar |
jakeporeshenko:These Guys are some serious looking SF for real. |
jakeporeshenko:Tank recovery , I see the cable winches. |
jakeporeshenko:On the first picture the Soldier stealing the show is the one with the Playboy beenie LMAO This is a photo for the ages ![]() On the second picture , Please can you blank out their faces. |
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/troops-intercept-suicide-bomber-maiduguri-2 Hopefully these lessons are being shared at the NDA. |
http://www.news24.com.ng/National/News/army-captures-last-strongholds-of-boko-haram-terrorists-in-borno-20161006 If confirmed by other sources then kudos must go to : MAJ. GEN Lucky Irabor Brig .Gen Ezugwu. |
MR KATAYUSHA Female Soldiers have fought and died in Nigerian wars dating back to the Civil War it is the right thing to do . I would rather have a female battle tested Commander that a green horn, it is not political. The six female NDA CADETS that were commissioned almost 4 years ago by all academic accounts have excelled both in and outside the class room. Nigeria as a nation prior to independence has had capable female commanders who have personally led men into battle women going to war in NIGERIA predates Nigeria as a nation the most famous are Queen Amina ZAU ZAU ( ZARIA) and Madam Tinubu both whom have statues erected in their Honor and one who features on Nigeria's National Currency. The first six are just the first of more to come who have been directly commissioned from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Female officers have played a crucial role especially in the boko haram war parts of which are classified, however one of Nigeria's most respected female officers ( Captain **** does some very dangerous work dealing with K-9 UNITS and Bomb detection. |
Seened:Those Ships were built in South Africa that is why. |
jakeporeshenko:Either the ones they have been repaired and/uparmored and some more ((most likely ) have been procured. |
Henry240:http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=45306:angola-mali-nigeria-and-sudan-receiving-russian-attack-transport-helicopters&catid=124:military-helicopters&Itemid=282 Russia Confirms sale of MI-35 HELICOPTERS to Nigeria This will be the largest single sale of HELICOPTERS to Nigeria ever. This is a start, meanwhile Nigeria needs to as a matter of urgency ensure that she acquires her J-17s as soon as possible. |
Henry240:I will deliberately eschew the political issues surrounding the NN UNITY , like Mr HENRY I will concentrate on the positive aspect of it. it does appear that the NN UNITY could not be built at the PH SHIPYARD perhaps because the upgrades were not completed, also it does appear some issues were worked during the President's visit to China, this necessitated the DEF. Minister most likely coordinating with his counterpart just as he did in Russia Moving along the upgrades at Port harcourt need to happen soon for maintenance purposes of these two ships NN UNITY & CENTENARY, both Ships are expected to be tasked with a major role in the EEZ ZONE. |
I believe Death machine gave a cryptic answer. ![]() |
Henry240:It is hard to read the Tea leaves and sometimes the body language of the CAS however having what has been observed lately is the success of / dependence on ISR ASSETS. The last two highly successful raids by the NAF can be argued as what the Brass of the NAF believes is the way forward. 1. Expect more drones armed and unarmed 2017-2018 2. Old news : Expect more HELIOS of the MI-17 variety and then the MI35 3. The JF-17 are coming 4 .More QRF regiments, There is speculation from this observer that they have been involved in some very dangerous missions. |
Very impressed by the Helicopter Maintenance facility, it does seem very apparent with all the logistics that the NAF is gearing up to receive some platforms. |
That is correct to a certain extent, Nigeria dating back to the SHAGARI era either bought ships in pairs or in triplets. |
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/09/nigerian-navy-acquires-new-vessel-china/ NN UNITY will be arriving in November 2016. |
Henry240:Nigeria after suffering for Six years of ineptitude leadership at the CDS and NAF level have finally righted the Leadership in terms of the Nigerian Airforce. For Nigeria to acquire these long awaited Helicopters will be a great boost to Morale. 2015/2016 Has seen spanking brand new accommodation for our NAF personnel, the tactical formation of well kitted QRF units,Mr Henry is even arguing about the level of PDMs taking place for our Charlie's and G222 and it is truly beginning to appear the NAF got a General who truly loves Nigeria. Nigeria has had two Air Marshalls (Dike and Peterin) She might get a third. |
Henry240:Mr Henry this does look like a recent picture, if so this must be a follow-up that the CAS paid for a visit to the Lockheed HQ early this year.I would find it hard to believe that anything other than an American company would be allowed to buy spare parts and then work on the C-130s. Thanks for showing the NAF 913.,it was one of the Birds I was missing. Can someone help me out with the last one? |
Odunayaw:Mr Henry can please notify the moderator. |
jakeporeshenko:Senegalese Troops built their reputation during the Ecomog wars as Hardened Battle tested Soldiers to be relied upon. |
