brotherlyn: Please, pay your tithe to a Bible Believing Church and contribute whatever you have power to contribute. Don't make the mistake of substituting your tithe for OJB's contribution.

God does not need your money to heal him. All He's asking for from you is simple obedience as regards Tithing and in so doing, He'll protect you against any form of devourer including terminal disease.
And what should pastors use your tithe for? Is it not to help the poor people? Is OJB not in a poor state now?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Sir Alex Ferguson Out, Jose Mourinho In? by ludot(op): 12:29pm On May 08, 2013
Trending on the web today is the news that Sir Alex Ferguson is set to retire as the manager of Manchester United at the end of the season. Fergie, as most football fans call him at the end of his spell at Man Utd would have been in the post for twenty-seven years. He will become the club's director and ambassador.

I believe the question on most people's lips now will be, "who is going to step into Sir Alex's shoes?" Could it be Jose Mourinho? In recent weeks there have been speculations about Jose's impending move back to Chelsea as he may be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Even Chelsea's interim manager, Rafael Benitez let slip on the return of Mourinho to Chelsea, he said on Tuesday "the next year there will be another manager. I think everybody knows who will be here."

Hmmm....,Sir Alex Ferguson is vacating his seat at Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho may be exiting Real Madrid at the end of the season. Jose Mourinho's affection for Manchester was in the spotlight when Man Utd played host to Real Madrid in the Champion's League this season. After Real Madrid beat Man Utd, he quipped, "the best team lost"

The question now is, could Jose Mourinho snub Chelsea for Manchester United? What do you think NairaLanders?

Technology MarketSamsung Takes A Bite Of Apple by ludot(op): 10:59pm On Apr 27, 2013
http://dotbaba..co.uk/2013/04/samsung-takes-another-bite-of-apple.html#more

After announcing earlier this week, a drop in profits for the first time in a decade at the end of last quarter, Apple's woes have been further compounded by Samsung's announcement of a record 43% increase in profits for the same period. Below is how http://www.mirror.co.uk/money/city-news/samsung-piles-pressure-rival-apple-1855724 is reporting it;

Profits at the South Korean gadget firm rocketed by 43% to £4.2billion between January and March thanks to booming sales of smartphones.

The bumper figures contrast with US heavyweight Apple which unveiled its first profit slide in a decade earlier this week. Continues after the cut...
Samsung has poured big bucks into developing clever products, with smartphones such as the Galaxy S3 proving a hit.

The results came as separate data showed Samsung sold 70million smartphones during the first quarter – a staggering 762,000 a day – and stole a record 33% share of the market.

Apple, meanwhile, sold 37.4million iPhones in the same period, and saw its market share drop to 17%.

To add to Apple’s headache, Samsung’s new much-hyped Galaxy S4 phone has just gone on sale, although high demand has caused supply problems.

Bryan Ma, of research firm IDC, said Samsung was doing “very well right now”.

He added: “They have a lot of momentum behind what they are doing around phones, and clearly from a consumer perspective, they have a lot of excitement around their devices. They have a lot of their competitors wondering what they’re going to do.”

Apple’s quarterly profits dropped by £1.4bn to £6.27bn during the last quarter.

Critics claimed Apple was failing to innovate but boss Tim Cook said: “Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware.”

Analysts expect Samsung to report another record-high profit during the April to June quarter as the Galaxy S4 is rolled out.

The firm said initial orders for the S4, which allows users to control it with their eyes, were higher than expected, making it difficult to meet demand.

Samsung is also the world’s largest maker of memory chips, televisions and liquid crystal display panels.

CrimeHusband Guilty Of Molestation For Not ''Pulling-Out'' At Wife's Request by ludot(op): 6:57pm On Apr 25, 2013
Wife Consented To Sex, Then Charged Husband With molestation For Not ''pulling Out''

There are many ways to be charged with rape, "not pulling out" is one of them...lol.

Read a case reported by the London Metro newspaper below;

"He would still be guilty if he did something she asked him not to, a High Court panel led by England and Wales’ most senior judge decreed.

A man would no longer be said to have consent because he ‘deliberately ignored’ the limitations put on sex, it was decided.

The ruling follows a test case involving a wife who claimed her husband broke their agreement by failing to withdraw.

The judges backed her, saying she ‘was deprived of choice relating to the crucial feature on which her original consent to sexual intercourse was based’.

They added: ‘Accordingly, her consent was negated.’

The couple, who wed under Islamic law, had sex after agreeing he would withdraw because she was ‘adamant that she did not want another child’.

But the husband went back on his word, making her pregnant.

He gave her ‘no chance to object’ and insisted ‘I’ll do what I want’, the panel, led by lord chief justice Lord Judge, heard.

Prosecutors originally decided not to charge him with rape or sexual assault, claiming it would be ‘impossible to prove’ his actions were not ‘spontaneous’.

They were told to review their decision after the judges decided it fell ‘within the statutory definition of rape’.

However, Lord Judge said that men who tried in vain to withdraw in time should not be pursued for rape, adding: ‘These things happen – they always have and they always will.

‘No offence is committed when they do. They underline why withdrawal is not a safe method of contraception.’

The ruling came a day after a small rise in the number of successful rape prosecutions, was revealed.

Campaigners say just 15 per cent of victims report attacks."

NairaLanders, what do you think?

Fhemmmy: OK, let us break it down . . Average man with good attitude will have say 20 - 30 friends, the woman would have 30 - 40 friends, the parents of the man would have average of 20 friends, and so the parents of the woman . . . co-worker, pastor or Imam and all that . . . do the math, that would be like over 100 people . . . or you mean 150 is too much, ok, let us scale it down: 80 people . . . what would be the budget for such wedding.
Yes, i do agree with you on the dowry but that is not the discussion for this thread . . .
Cut your cloth according to your material not your size, abi? How much do you have? Invite people that will fit into how much you have.

Fhemmmy: And what makes you think that the Man in Nigeria is not working to put the money together for the wedding . . . Average wedding in Nigeria will cost how much? just a question cos i have never done one in Nigeria before and when i say average wedding, not something too elaborate but with crowd of say 150 people with both parents still alive . . . give us a budget and let us work this out.
Dowry in some states are crazy in Nigeria and if the man have to worry about that and then be worrying about how to pay for the wedding, some engagement will last longer than that . . . but if we all could learn to cut our coat according to the material we have and not cos John and Jane spent so much, we have to spend same, most stress will be eliminated . . .
My take is that 'dowry' is just plain robbery!!! It needs to be scrapped! A crowd of 150 at a wedding...,is dat a political campaign?

Fhemmmy: That is true but at same time Leah wore her own ring for 7 years when the father told the suitor to labor for her for that long, though he wanted Rebecca and was played on to pick Leah and later labored again for more years for the other lady, so basically the lady wore the ring (Not the metal) but promise of marriage for 14 years in the case of Rebecca . . I might mistake the names oh.
Lol..., Rachel waited that long because Jacob was laboring to pay her 'dowry' not because of the promise of marriage.

Abi na dowry go make woman put ring for finger for 2 years...,2 years? The man wan buy you ni or marry you?

Fhemmmy: For as long as it takes for the couple to find the money to make it into the next level . . . Better to wear a ring of engagement that to wear a wedding band in pain
Whether married or not...,there will always be financial needs. One can never have money enough.

And besides, all the money they use to go to cinemas, restaurant etc can be channeled into 'owo obe' (soup money).

And also why buy engagement ring when you know you don't have money?!

wesley80: Some Nigerians really can be unbelievably stuupid! I can't believe supposedly educated folks are still rooting for Buhari even in the face of a landmark merger that should ordinarily present a platform for some kind of political revolution. What is wrong with us? How's a seventy something year old barely literate retired army General who blamed a "PDP kamfuter" for his electoral loss and whose most noteworthy accomplishment as a Head of state was being a ball-less figurehead while his second in command ran the show, the best a supposedly educated well meaning Nigerian can propose? I just don't get it.
You're smart enough to make projections but too daft to realize your nation has moved beyond Buhari and his warped ideas. Perhaps you're also in your seventies - the only sane rationalization you can offer - and the forceful days of military Generals still fills you with nostalgia - Pls accept my sympathy, but you must learn to dream much better dreams.
Truth is Nigeria deserves better than your mediocre dream, Nigeria deserves better than Buhari. It doesn't matter if he's "the messiah" to legions of ediots, sanity must prevail. The opposition with this merger are on the brink of helping this nation build its democracy into what we all desire and we must not carve out the helm as an exclusive preserve for mediocres.
If you call supporters of Buhari, 'legions of ediots'. What will you call yourself that resorted to name calling on a forum where everyone else is making sensible contributions. It is people like you that get voted into the senate and be throwing chairs when they get there.

flourishG: 3 categories of the will of God. Which one you talking about huh Good, acceptable and perfect will of God. What is good for one might not be perfect another but every will of God is okay.
There is nothing like 3 categories of the will of God. Teaching that there is a good will, an acceptable and perfect wills of God is total falsehood.

Roman 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

If there are 3 categories, there will be an 's' at the end of 'will' in the scripture.

RomanceOprah Asked Michelle Obama About Marriage... by ludot(op): 2:57pm On Apr 16, 2012
What do you know for sure about marriage, being married now 18 years?

(LAUGHTER)

M. OBAMA: The -- it has to be a true partnership. And you have to really, really like and respect the person that you're married to, because it is a hard road.

I mean, that's what I tell young couples. Don't expect it to be easy, melding two lives and trying to raise others and doing it forever.

I mean that's a recipe made for disaster. So there are highs and lows. But if, in the end, you can look him in the eye and say, I like you, and, you know, I stopped believing in love at first sight.

I think you go through that, that wonderful love stage. But when it gets hard, you need a little bit more.

WINFREY: OK. I read in The New York Times a story that (inaudible) writing about your mother, where she said that she always thought you would be a cross between Mahatma Gandhi and Albert Einstein and always had great expectations for you.

The question is, are you surprised that he became President of the United States, knowing who he is?

M. OBAMA: Yes, I think growing up like we did, no matter what your parents told you, we never thought we -- you could be president. No, no way.

You know, it was up until the election night that I was like, really?

(LAUGHTER)

M. OBAMA: You actually pulled this off? So I think, you know, I think our lives are limited in that way.

And I think one of the beautiful things that we will get from this presidency is that young kids now only know this man could be President of the United States. So, for so many, they can see themselves.

So am I -- am I surprised that he's doing a great job, no. I knew he was ready for this. I always told the voters, I said, the question isn't whether Barack Obama is ready to be president.

The question is whether we're ready. And that still continues to be the question that we have to ask ourselves. Are we ready for change? Are we ready for sacrifice and compromise?

Are we ready, you know, to really make the hard push? Because he's ready. And that is not a surprise to me. He has been consistent in that regard.

So he has performed as I would have expected him to perform, consistent.
With respect sir, I think it is a lame excuse to leave the 'love of your life' for something as trivial as 'calls and texts' that's just a show of selfishness and immaturity. I had an ex who was always pissed off for my not sending texts and everytime she complained, she ddnt leave me for someone who called and texted more. Now I'm not sayying this to disparage your ex, I'm only saying this for you to have a more healthy opinion on relationship matters and be less hard on yourself.

Having said that, I've learrned to:
1. Compromise only in as far your partner is willing to compromise. No need conceding when they will never concede/concede just a little.
2.The end of the relationship is USUALLY clear in the beginning. And as time goes on it becomes clearer. Red flags are crucial, pay attention to them.
3.You can always do better for your partner.
4.Love without respect will not last long.
5.Romantic love is NOT necessary in order to have a wonderful/happy relationship.
6.Love is a choice.
@fresh_dude I really like your contribution, it is brilliant! grin But it seemed you interpreted the post based on your girlfriend's complaints. I never said she complained of 'texts and calls', did I?

Anyways to spell it out for you, what I was passing across is that I have learnt that even if I am so busy consistently, I should still be able to show attention and care with as little as a call or text. **what I have learnt NOT what SHE complained of** They are two different things, aren't they?

"More healthy opinion..." and "be less hard..." whose scale or standard are you using?

Nice contribution from you though, those 6 stuffs are on point! Most especially the no. 4... grin

rokiatu: What is wrong with being 35 and single? Being in a relationship is not all there is to life.
The post is not about age and single-hood. It is about the role of some archaic belief systems.
RomanceOne Thing That Can Make You To Still Be Single At 35 Years by ludot(op):
Bisi was 24 years of age when she met Tunde. Tunde was everything a lady would pray to God for in a man, God-fearing, ambitious with a great sense of humor. They had been dating for eight months when Bisi decided to tell her mother about him.

Mummy: Where is he from?
Bisi: Tunde is from Ijebu, mummy.
Mummy: No way! God forbid! No child of mine will marry an Ijebu person.

That marked the end of Tunde and Bisi.

Over the years, Bisi, because of her good character was never short of suitors but "unfortunately" she seemed to only attract men from Ijebu. She couldn't help but run once she knew they were Ijebus.

Now she is 35 years of age, still single and desperate. Mummy now says, "Bisi, you are not getting any younger just bring any man" but sadly no man is looking her way again.

This story though fictitious, clearly illustrates how some parent because of archaic beliefs indirectly hinder the progress of their children. At times the reason why some are still single at 35 is not because they are yet to find the right person but because of some silly beliefs they need to let go of. What do you think?

This is my version of the post "What Are The Dating Mistakes That Guys & Ladies Make?" found at https://www.nairaland.com/672795/what-dating-mistakes-that-guys

I hate pointing fingers and I believe it takes two tango. A friend once said, "relationships are for two people, some don't just know how to count." For me, when a relationship ends, I believe both parties should own up to the parts they played to make it crumble.

I have made several mistakes in my past relationships and I have learnt from them, one of which was being too busy with work to call.

Whether you are a guy or a lady, are you willing to share yours so we can learn from it?
RomanceJust One Secret To A Happy Relationship by ludot(op): 3:53pm On Apr 12, 2012
If I think someone else has a problem, I have a problem – Chris Morris

Just before we started making our sales call one afternoon, myself and some colleagues stopped over at KFC to have a quick bite of chicken to get us into the swing of the day. Cynthia (not real name), one of the ladies with us started to tell me about the issues she was having with her boyfriend so that I could give her some relationship advice. A part of our conversation went like this;

Cynthia: (with teary eyes) What do I do? I am stuck! I don’t like how he is behaving.
Me: What’s important to you in a relationship?
Cynthia: Respect…
Me: Are you getting respect?
Cynthia: No
Me: Okay…how much respect do you give?
Cynthia: *silence**silence* and *more silence*
Me: You know what to do… see you later.

The blame game, we have all played it before and we still do in our relationships. I cannot count on my fingers the number of religious faiths or schools of thought there are in the world but one truth they all agree on is that you have control over what others do to you. In Christianity it is called the golden law, “do to others as you would have them do to you – Luke 6:31″. Science calls it the law of cause and effect in nature and physics while in Buddhism it is referred to as the law of karma.

So, whenever you start blaming the other person for the problems in your relationship, do a reality check on yourself first. And just before you pick up the next book, dvd, cd or attend the next seminar on love and relationships, you can discover the secret to successful relationship building in just this one sentence, “do not expect to get what you do not give.”
