The hope The prospective muslim pilgrims, numbering 150, were abandoned at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after waiting for their travel agent, who was reportedly supposed to bring over their passports attached with the requisite visas, to no avail. The victims were reportedly said to have paid a sum of N950,000 each for the procurement of visas to ensure their passage to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage, bringing the total sum to N142.5million. According to a reports: About 150 intending pilgrims to this year’s hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia were left stranded at the international wing of the in Lagos following their inability to show evidence of having secured a travel visa for the journey to the Holy Land. It was gathered that the prospective pilgrims, mostly from Oyo , Osun and Ogun states had been defrauded by a travel agent hired to secure travel visa, airfares and accommodation for them while in Saudi Arabia. The prospective pilgrims were expected to travel to Mecca last Friday with Qatar Airways, but the trip was truncated following the failure of the travel agent to show up with their passports and travel visas. The agent (name withheld) was believed to have received about N142.5million from the 150 prospective pilgrims as each of them was said to have paid a sum of N950, 000 for visa processing, airfares and other logistics charges. It was gathered that Saudi Arabia Jeddah Airport would officially close today, which means if they failed to travel yesterday night or early today, their dreams of participating in the 2013 hajj exercise to Mecca would have been defeated. One of the pilgrims ( Mr. Abdulwasiu Adeyemi from Abeokuta in Ogun State) who spoke to journalists, said they arrived at the airport last Friday as early as 7am, but were yet to travel for the hajj in Mecca. Adeyemi said each of them paid N950,000 for the visa, air ticket and accommodation, but lamented that as at last Friday, some of them could not lay hands on international passports containing their visa as the agent failed to show up. of some Muslim umahs to perform the yearly hajj pilgrimage has been frustrated after they were reportedly duped into thinking they would be ready in time to go for the trip. http://www.nairacity..com/2013/10/scam-muslim-pilgrims-duped-of-n1425.html |
No woman will allow her man to cheat on her but most women would not mind dating a man that is married or a guy who is engage i.e in a serious relationship, they would not mind tearing two people apart, they would not even bother to ask this "Are you married" ?, "Are you in a serious relationship"?, "why did you break up with her or why did she break up with you"?, "will you take her (your g.f/wife) back if she comes back"?, "are you still in love with (your girl) her"?, "how long did you guys date" amongst other questions just so the lady would know if her heart will be in safe hands and what to expect from him in order not to be a victim of "hit and run" relationship, but HELL NO, most ladies don't care, they just want to be in a relationship, they just want a man to call their own, they just want to get married ASAP, it doesn't matter if he is in a serious relationship or married. The logical question is how can men relinquish cheating on us while we are the ones giving them the license and encouraging them to do so? There are women who do not know how to turn down a man's relationship request, to them anything goes so long he can satisfy her financially, emotionally and sexually, we can not eat our cake and have it, (et le sourire de la crémière), if you don't see anything wrong with dating another woman's husband or boyfriend then don't expect your man to be faithful to you in a relationship or marriage as the law of karma will always check up on you. http://www.nairacity..com/2013/10/the-bitter-truith-for-all-ladies-must.html |

A Saudi husband who is jealous divorced his wife after she posted a snap of her kissing a horse online. The innocent image, of his spouse tenderly planting a smooch on the four-legged filly’s face at a farm near Riyadh, was apparently too much for him. Humiliated by the picture, he reportedly wanted her out of his life — and immediately informed her they would no longer be together. According to reports , the newly single woman “does not regret what she has done.” “After he (the husband ) saw the picture showing his wife kissing a horse at a farm near Riyadh, the man divorced her,” it quotes Sada newspaper as saying. “The wife said she is not sorry for what she did and was not upset by splitting from a man who cannot distinguish between humans and animals,” it added. “She said she is very proud about that picture as it expresses her love for Arabian horses.” source : http://www.nairacity..com/2013/10/saudi-arabian-woman-divorced-by-jealous.html

Ventures Africa magazine has released their list of the top 10 Richest People in Africa 2013. The combined fortune of Africa’s 55 billionaires is $143.88 billion. The average net worth of the members of this exclusive club is $2.6 billion, while the median age of the richest people in Africa is 65 years. The oldest billionaires are Kenyan industrialist, Manu Chandaria, and Egyptian property tycoon, Mohammed Al-Fayed, both aged 84. The youngest billionaires are Mohammed Dewji of Tanzania and Igho Sanomi, a Nigerian oil trader. They are both 38 years old. Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt lead the pack with the highest number of billionaires at 20, nine and eight respectively. Algeria, Angola, Zimbabwe and Swaziland only have one billionaire each. In all, there are 10 African countries represented on the list. Three women made it into the rankings. The richest of them is Folorunsho Alakija, a Nigerian fashion designer and oil tycoon worth some $7.3 billion by our estimates. See the full list after the cut... Aliko Dangote 1. Aliko Dangote $20.2 billion Industry: Manufacturing Country Of Citizenship: Nigeria Age: 56 Marital Status: Married Africa’s richest man started building his fortune three decades ago after taking a business loan from his maternal uncle to begin trading in commodities such as flour, sugar, rice and cement. In the early 2000s, he started producing these items himself. His Dangote Group is now the largest manufacturing conglomerate in West Africa and owns sugar refineries, salt processing facilities, a beverage manufacturer and a string of cement plants across Africa. In October 2012, Dangote sold a controlling stake in his flour milling company to Tiger Brands, a South African manufacturer of consumer goods. He pocketed $190 million from the sale. Dangote’s biggest asset is Dangote Cement, a $20-billion (market cap) cement manufacturer with operations in 14 countries and an annual production capacity of 30 million metric tonnes. In June this year, South Africa’s Public Investment Corporation acquired a 1.5-percent stake in the company for $290 million. Dangote is also Africa’s most generous philanthropist. Within the last 12 months, he has given away over $100 million to causes ranging from youth empowerment to flood relief, religious causes and education. His younger brother, Sani Dangote, is Vice Chairman of Dangote Group. Allan Gray 2. Allan Gray $8.5 billion Industry: Financial services Country Of Citizenship: South Africa Age: 75 Marital Status: Married This media-shy South African moneyman controls two investment companies that collectively manage over $50 billion in assets. After Gray received an MBA from Harvard, he worked for eight years at Fidelity Management and Research in Boston before returning to Cape Town in 1973, when he founded Allan Gray Limited, now the largest privately owned asset manager in South Africa. It is also the most successful with assets under management at approximately $30 billion. According to inside sources at the company, Allan Gray’s global mandate share portfolio has achieved an average annual return of 28 percent since 1974. Keys to success include rigorous research and the consistent application of Allan Gray’s ages-old and time-tested investment approach of buying heavily into companies whose share price is less than their intrinsic value. Gray is also the founder of Orbis, an asset manager in Bermuda, which he founded in 1989. Orbis has over $21 billion under management. Gray’s son, William, is President of Orbis and equally serves as portfolio manager of the Orbis Funds. Gray and his family are the controlling shareholders of Allan Gray Limited and Orbis. In 2007, Gray endowed his Allan Gray Orbis Foundation with $130 million, the single largest charity gift in Southern Africa at the time. The foundation funds scholarships for poor but promising South African high school students. Mike Adenuga 3. Mike Adenuga $8 billion Industry: Oil, telecoms Country Of Citizenship: Nigeria Age: 60 Marital Status: Married Nigeria’s second richest man made his first fortune in his mid-twenties by distributing lace fabrics and Coca- Cola, and by handling lucrative government contracts during the regime of former Nigerian military President, Ibrahim Babangida. In the early nineties he founded Conoil Producing, an indigenous oil exploration and production outfit that was the first Nigerian company to strike oil in commercial quantities. Today, Conoil Producing’s assets produce more than 100,000 barrels of crude a day. Adenuga’s other holdings include Globacom, a Nigerian mobile telecommunications network that boasts more than 25 million customers in Nigeria and Republic of Benin. He also owns a 74-percent stake in Conoil PLC, a petroleum marketing outfit listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Folorunsho Alakija 4. Folorunsho Alakija $7.3 billion Industry: Oil Country Of Citizenship: Nigeria Age: 62 Marital Status: Married Africa’s richest woman sits atop Famfa Oil, a Nigerian oil company that owns a 60-percent stake in OML 127, one of Nigeria’s most prolific oil blocks located at Nigerian offshore Agbami deepwater field. Daily production at OML 127 stands at over 200,000 barrels per day. Alakija studied fashion design in England in the eighties, returning to Nigeria to found Supreme Stitches, a Nigerian fashion label which enjoyed patronage from the more successful women in Nigerian high society. One of her clients was Maryam Babangida, the wife to former Nigerian military President, Ibrahim Babangida. Alakija is believed to have ridden on the crest of this relationship to acquire an oil block in 1993 at a relatively inexpensive price. Famfa immediately entered into a joint venture agreement with Star Deep Water Petroleum (a subsidiary of Chevron and Brazil’s Petrobas), ceding a 40-percent stake to the two companies. Famfa owned a 60-percent interest in the block until 2000, when the incumbent Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, forcefully acquired a 50-percent stake in the block, transferring it to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation – a government-owned oil company. Famfa Oil immediately went to court to challenge the acquisition in a case that dragged on for 12 years. In May 2013, the Nigerian Supreme court reinstated the 50-percent stake to Famfa Oil. Alakija also owns $200-million of real estate in the United Kingdom. Nicky Oppenheimer 5. Nicky Oppenheimer $6.5 billion Industry: Mining, investments Country Of Citizenship: South Africa Age: 68 Marital Status: Married Diamonds are not forever. In November 2011, Nicky Oppenheimer made the momentous decision to sell off his family’s stake in De Beers, the world’s largest diamond producer, to mining behemoth Anglo American. The landmark $5.1-billion deal ended the Oppenheimer family’s eight-decade control of De Beers, which began when Nicky’s grandfather, Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, took over the firm in 1927 and consolidated the company’s global monopoly over the world’s diamond industry. In 2011, E Oppenheimer & Sons, the family-owned investment firm which Nicky controls, partnered with Temasek, the investment firm of the Government of Singapore, to form Tana Africa Capital, a $300-million private equity fund that invests in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and agriculture sectors. Johann Rupert 6. Johann Rupert $6.1 billion Industry: Luxury goods and retail Country Of Citizenship: South Africa Age: 63 Marital Status: Married Johann Rupert is the chairman of Swiss-based luxury goods company, Compagnie Financière Richemont SA, which owns premium brands such as Cartier, Dunhill, IWC Schaffhausen, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin, among many others. Johann’s father, Anton Rupert, founded a small cigarette manufacturing operation, Rembrandt, in his garage in 1941 with a £10-investment. Rembrandt became incredibly popular among young South African smokers and by the 1950s, was already one of the leading tobacco firms in the continent. Anton, ever the visionary, diversified from tobacco into the industrial and luxury branded goods sectors, splitting Rembrandt into two divisions: Remgro (an investment company with financial, mining and industrial interests) and Richemont (the Swiss-based luxury goods group). Johann is chairman and the largest individual shareholder in both companies. He also owns two of South Africa’s best-known vineyards, Rupert & Rothschild and L’Ormarins, and founded the Franschhoek Motor Museum, which houses his personal collection of over 200 antique motor vehicles. In January this year, Nassef announced that OCI was exchanging all global depositary receipts of the company for newly issued shares of OCI NV on the NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam or in exchange for cash. A consortium of investors, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates, provided the $1 billion in fresh capital required to pay off investors. The overwhelming majority of the shareholders accepted the buyout offer, which subsequently led to the company’s delisting on the EGX. Nassef also serves as a director at Lafarge, the French cement giant, and the Dubai international Financial Exchange. Gilbert Chagoury & Family 8. Gilbert Chagoury & Family $4.2 billion Industry: Construction Country Of Citizenship: Nigeria Age: 67 Marital Status: Married The Nigerian-Lebanese industrialist and diplomat is a co-founder of the Chagoury Group, a large, multi-faceted Nigerian conglomerate with interests in manufacturing, construction, real estate, hospitality and healthcare. In 1971 he started GrandsMoulins du Bénin Flour Mills, a milling company in Cottonou, Republic of Benin, which formed the foundation of the Chagoury Group. Today, the Chagoury Group owns five flour-milling companies in Nigeria and Republic of Benin. Chagoury’s milling operations collectively produce over 3,700 metric tonnes of wheat flour every day. The Chagoury Group also owns a glass bottle manufacturing plant and a plastic bottle manufacturing operation. Other assets include Eko Hotel, a five-star Hotel in Lagos, and Hotel Presidential, a five-star hotel in Port Harcourt. One of the newer companies within the group is South EnergyX, a real estate development company that is developing Eko Atlantic, a new $6-billion metropolis on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean. Chagoury’s property portfolio also includes Ocean Parade, a series of 14 tower blocks overlooking a lagoon in Banana Island, Nigeria’s priciest residential community. Gilbert Chagoury’s career has not been without controversy. In 2001, in a British court, he admitted to helping the family of deceased Nigerian dictator, Sani Abacha, transfer $300 million into foreign accounts. He returned the money and was indemnified of charges. Nathan Kirsh 9. Nathan Kirsh $3.6 billion Industry: Real Estate, Distribution Country Of Citizenship: Swaziland Age: 82 Marital Status: Married Nathan Kirsh made his first fortune after he founded a successful corn milling business in Swaziland. He deftly reinvested his profits in food distribution and real estate. The bulk of his fortune is held in various property and distribution companies. His investment company, Kirsh Holding Group, owns a 50-percent stake in Swazi Plaza Properties – the company that owns the largest shopping mall in Swaziland. He also owns a 29-percent stake in Minerva, a London-based property developer, and a 63-percent stake in Jetro Holdings, which operates Jetro Cash and Carry stores and Restaurant Depots in the New York City area. Jetro enjoys a near monopoly in supplying wholesale goods to small stores and restaurants in the New York City area and had revenues of over $6 billion in 2013. He went on to list Shoprite on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. He owns a 15-percent stake in the $7-billion (market cap) company. While his Shoprite stake remains his biggest asset, he also owns significant stakes in other Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed companies, including Invicta Holdings, PSG Holdings, Tradehold, and private equity firm, Brait. Idi Amin: Mod, please remove this post, the picture is scary. @poster, why didn't you warn about the scary picturewhat is scary about the picture above ? Is it a nude pix ? What is special about about a casket ? We all gonna die oneday. |
Not only was the casket carrying Agagu's corpse intact after the plane crashed on Thursday morning, the cap on his head stayed intact and his body wasn't ruffled. This was a revelation made by those who opened the casket of agagu's body. These discoveries have baffled so many, with some insisting that it's juju. But the reason is really simple. The casket was latched to the hooks in the cargo compartment of the plane and was placed in the rear end of the plane. People who sat at the back of the plane survived the crash, so the casket, which was kept at the back also survived the crash. Meanwhile during the burial of Agagu on Friday, his widow ( Funke Agagu ) insisted on seeing the body before he is buried. Miss funke Agagu was photographed praying for the body before he was lowered into his grave. http://nairacity..com/2013/10/why-agagus-casket-was-intact-after.html

A win for the red sides will place them as the league leader for a while.. This is a must win match . mod post on the front page.thank you |
It's been a positive start to the season for the Liverpool, who have secured four wins from their first six encounters, placing them second in the league table, two points adrift of Arsenal. The return of striker Luis Suarez has boosted the Bredren Rodgers team, who netted twice in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Sunderland last Sunday. The Uruguayan's partnership with Daniel Sturridge has also been praised following concerns whether the duo could play together. Manager Brendan Rodgers has recently opted for a 3-4-1-2 formation, and the Northern Irishman could stick with it against Palace, who head into this weekend's encounter second from bottom in the table. Ian Holloway has not had the easiest of starts to his side's first season back in the top flight, recording five defeats and just one win so far in the campaign. The Eagles have also seen 10 goals shipped past them, while only being able to find the net four times. The former Championship side may feel that they need to change their approach following three straight league defeats, but Holloway is likely to keep the faith with Marouane Chamakh up front. For Liverpool, Raheem Sterling could make an appearance in the starting lineup with Steven Gerrard or Jordan Henderson, perhaps, holding a more disciplined role in midfield due to the suspension of Lucas Leiva. culled and edited from : http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/liverpool/preview/preview-liverpool-vs-crystal-palace_108863.html source : http://www.nairacity..com/2013/10/liverpool-vs-crystal-palace-match.html thread was delayed due to banning from mod... ![]()

kokoA: Sorry bro, stop being politically naïve. The truth is that no northern governor is in support of GEJ staying beyond 2015. The G-7 governors only came out openly quite early because they are all already concluding their second tenures and feel GEJ owes them nothing anymore. The others are running their first terms and wouldn't want to be seen challenging the president because his influence in the party can jeopardise their chances of getting the PDP ticket in their states. Have you noticed that the G-7 governors have never called their "fellow northern governors" in GEJ camp traitors nor call for them to stand for the zoning thing? Or why is there no northern governor from GEJ's camp openly condemning the activities of the new PDP? They are confident they've got that covered. In the coming months, I expect lots of betrayals from the northern governors in GEJ's camp, I won't be surprised to see a shocker from the Enugu guy as well. He has been very quiet about all everything. In my opinion, GEJ is only sure of Bayelsa, Akwaibom, Crossriver, Delta, Abia, Ebonyi, Plateau, Benue and Kogi governors and if things stand like this till 2015, Benue and Kogi will be in doubt during the general elections because of the huge APC support in these states.kudos to you political strategist.. |
The Federal Government of Nigeria , yesterday, appealed to Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, to shelve its proposed solidarity strike with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. Mr. Nyesom Wike ( The Supervising Minister of Education ), made the appeal in Abuja, at a meeting with the members of NUT on the proposed solidarity industrial action. It will be recalled that the NUT on September 26, 2013, gave Federal Government two weeks ultimatum to honour the 2009 agreement they had with ASUU or face total shutdown of the education sector in the country. Labour Minister Chief Emeka Wogu, who was present at the meeting, said the Federal Government has alread meet 80 per cent of the demand of 2009 Agreement they had with ASUU. According to Wike, “The 2009 agreements with ASUU have a number of issues and I want to tell you that the Federal Government, has already met 80% of the critical needs. It is remaining only two major components which are earned allowances, and they are expecting the Federal Government to release N400billion annually for infrastructural development. “ASUU now asked the Federal Government to develop the universities annually, and it shouldn’t be part of Federal budget and not part of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, and that the Federal Government should allocate N400 billion for capital projects in the universities. This is not realistic, because we have Polytechnics and colleges of education”. Most universities haven’t accessed their 2012 intervention funds so there are still funds for them. On earned allowances he said: “The N30billion was for a start and then if it is not enough we would find a way to pay ASUU.” The Minister of Labour, Mr. Wogu in his contribution said, discussion with ASUU is still ongoing, and that dialogue has not broken down. “One thing that is clear is that Federal Government has started implementing the 2009 agreement so if there are grey areas, the appropriate thing to do is to settle it. The thing is that those grey areas cannot be settled when ASUU is on strike, the grey areas can still be settled if they go back to the classrooms. I think the issue is going back to the classrooms, intimidations would not resolve it, but for all hands to be on deck to resolve it. “We have got to a stage where even ASUU has realised that government has done enough towards the implementation of the 2009 agreement.” About the proposed sympathy strike of NUT he said: “I want to appeal to you to call off the proposed threat of strike. We just want to reassure that Federal Government would soon resolve the ASUU strike. Do not compound what is on ground, but rather suggest solution to government on how to end the strike.” In his response Comrade Alogba Olukoya (the President of Nigerian Union of Teachers) said the union was not happy at the state of education in the country.” source : www.nairacity..com/2013/10/ASUU-fg-begs-nut-to-withdraw-strike.html edited from http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/10/ASUU-fg-begs-nut-withdraw-strike-threat/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
