OkutaNla: Spoken like a true broke a$$ lowlife poverty-panelbeated flatron. Na only una get 'lappy and console'? Do you have better access to netflx or bootleg movies than Americans or even Lagosians? Don't Americans, Europeans, Asians, and even other Africans/Nigerians do as well?? In spite of that don't they still go to the cinemas? I have already busted why Cinema culture is practically nonexistent in your parts, na poverty and low purchasing power. The same reason y'all have to flee that hellhole via nightbus just so you can experience the good life here at the best (West) side. Those big stores you mentioned self go soon packup due to low patronage like the Cinema before them. Una can fit to chest-beat for Africa but all na wash. u really are high and what is this "better access" biko sign up for netflix and pay up and watch movies ffs imax cinemas are shutting down due to improved CGIs so according to ur logic those ppl have low cinema culture hope u know all around the world now ppl buy more music online than going to physical record stores the mentality of an igbo person is very different to that of a yoruba person u ppl throw parties for silly reasons ffs as per those big stores closing up u will find out that the no of ppl going to roban and shoprite are more or less the same |

OkutaNla: Yinmu. Enugu folks are just too broke to maintain a cinema culture like many other cities across Nigeria are doing. No surprises here though, considering that stats show that the SE has the lowest purchasing power relative to other states that don't make as much noise as y'all. Sotay, even common recharge card dey hard una to buy compared to other regions. Smh. looooolz ds n***a is high lowest purchasing power yet spar just opened a new branch there Roban(its not rubber o o ye afonja it's a supermarket is rolling in money there) fine brothers have branches dia yet d purchasing power is poor and ndi enugu are poor? if u see any bad road in enugu, just know it's federal road now back to the topic hw can u go to cinema when u can watch movie from your lappy or console in the comfort of ur own home ffs. phyno did a gig at nnamdi azikiwe stadium and the place was full to capacity yet u utter such crazy stat as low purchasing power |

OkutaNla: Yinmu. Translation: Enugu folks are too broke (and crude) to afford little luxuries like going to the movies. This is something that is becoming so commonplace that even the likes of Kano, Uyo, etc take such luxuries for granted these days. I understand the state is a civil service state but apparently the middle-class in the entire state is so piss poor that they couldn't sustain the patronage of the only cinema in the entire state. And this is supposed to be the 'best' city the SE has to offer. I can feel Jason's pain. apparently u have never been to enugu most nollywood films are shot there a good number of actors either schooled there or are from there Enugu poor? take such luxuries for granted?in dis hard economy look an igbo man calculates every penny he earns and makes sure all around him are comfortable before indulging in such frivolities as going to the cinema when a simple netflix sub or fileshare will do the job oh and in the east we have owerri, awka, aba and abakaliki so we don't do best city as each one is unique and cherished by all easterners |

iliyande: By Justin Tyopuusu, Jalingo.....
The former Minister of Defense and an elder statesman, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.) on Saturday urged Nigerians to defend themselves against killers in the country.
Danjuma made the call while speaking at the maiden convocation of the Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State.
“I am not a politician and politics is one profession I don’t want to belong to because if I am a politician, I would not say what I am going to say to you now.
“When I arrived this arena, I saw rich cultural display, and I was amazed at the rich cultural heritage of our people. Taraba is a mini Nigeria with diverse ethnic groups living together peacefully, but the peace in this state is under assault.
“There is an attempt at ethnic cleansing in the state and of course, some rural states in Nigeria. “We must resist it. We must stop it. Everyone of us must rise up.”
Details later.

OkutaNla: Did you see the list put up there? Can any state in your region match that? The only Cinema in Enugu state has shut down due to low patronage (Jason Njoku, IrokoTV boss himself said that, obviously he wasn't impressed)), while Ibadan city alone has 3 cinemas as well as top malls, with more coming up. Poor roads you say, This coming from the region that cries marginalization on account of the deplorable roads that traverse the state, home to the very worst roads in the country. The latest IGR data from 2017 is out and no single SE state raised more IGR than Oyo state, not one. Obviously, these 'poor people' are doing way better than all your SE states. the cinema is closed bcuz unlike yorubas ndigbo don't use their time to jukpa or faaji u dig? ever heard of netflix?peeps subscribe for it pal |

Politics › Re: Dapchi: DSS Reveals Condition Boko Haram Gave Before Release Of Schoolgirls by LZAA: 6:37pm On Mar 24, 2018 |
Nwaforj44: The Department of State Services, DSS, has revealed that Boko Paramedics, prior to the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls demanded “cessation of hostilities and temporary ceasefire”.
DSS Director General, Lawal Daura made the disclosure while revealing the role of the secret police in securing the release of the girls.
He spoke when President Muhammadu Buhari received the released girls at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to Daura, the process of negotiating the process of the girls’ release was complicated and painstaking. He said, “However, before you today, Mr. President, are two additional young primary school pupils, namely Hafsat Haruna, an 11-year-old primary six pupil, and Mala Maina Bukar, 13 years old and also a primary six pupil. “The remaining six Dapchi girls are yet to be accounted for, and dialogue on these students is still ongoing. “It may be recalled that the President had given a clear directive to security agencies to use peaceful options to ensure the timely and safe release of the girls. “What followed were intense behind-the-scene dialogue spearheaded by the Department of State Services. “The insurgents’ only condition was their demands for cessation of hostilities and temporary ceasefire to enable them return the girls at the point they picked them. “They required assurances that the government security forces would keep to this. “The exercise was arduous and quite challenging. The sensitivity of the operation and some uncertainties surrounding it, particularly the routes to be used, nature of transportation, realization and concern that the girls were not kept at one place, issues of encountering military checkpoints within the theater and indeed keeping the operation on strictly the “principles of need-to-know” made the whole exercise more complicating. “Beyond the release of the abducted girls, our primary interest for engaging in the dialogue was informed by the following: permanent possible cessation of hostilities, discussing the fate of the arrested insurgents and innocent Nigerian citizens being held hostage, and possibility of granting amnesty to repentant insurgents. “These presently seem problematic because the insurgents are factionalised while holding various spheres of influence in their guerrilla controlled enclaves.”
