1StopRudeness:Do you blame them? When the society and their family pressure them to marry women, and don't care about the fact that they'll still be attracted to men. What do you want them to do? |
DonPikko:As a software developer, you can only get into Andela as a fellow or a senior staff (technical team lead, senior consultant, etc). You can't get into Andela via ALC. You'll still go through bootcamp if you want to be a fellow, or through the "normal" application process if applying for a senior staff position. ✌ |
*Sigh*! Y'all have not even started. |
benfluleck:Plus I feel it goes against their whole keep-Nairaland-in-the-seventies policy. |
Someone actually went and did the work. Nice!! |
femo86:No, it is not well. It most certainly is not well! What's up with you Nigerians and your fucking passivity? |
Teletexter:As in, eh! |
Reading the title I thought "I hope they didn't foolishly post the domain names here for people to buy and sell back to them at a higher price." Then I opened the thread and went "bitch actually did." |
benjman:Let go? I pursued the case and they refunded me my money oh. If everybody has that "let go" mentality, nothing will ever get done and no change will happen. |
"Recently spotted"? This video is as old as time. SMH! |

Lovetinz:They weren't going to sign it. They were just going to dump it there like the lady that attended to me said. |
Last week Monday (13th November) I ordered a pair of Sony headphones on Jumia which was delivered on Thursday, 16th November at the Oshodi pick-up station. I paid with Jumia Pay. The item delivered wasn't what was described on the website (counterfeit with extra buttons and memory card slot) that wasn't on the item description on the website and I immediately called customer care to schedule a return. I received a mail from Jumia Friday evening (delivered Saturday afternoon because dead phone) instructing me to return the item at their office at Simbiat Abiola way, Ikeja. I got there Monday morning only to be told by the agents on ground that the outlet was for vendor drop-offs only. They directed me to another office at Pepple Street in Computer village. I got there and was told the same story. I called customer service and was told to take it to the Oshodi pick-up centre instead. I went to the Oshodi pick-up centre at Bola Tinubu complex on Tuesday morning only to be told by the neighbouring shops that the office hasn't be open in a while. I called customer care and was told to return the next day to check if they were open. I asked for the number of the person in charge of the center and was told there was a network issue and the number could not be retrieved. I went back home. Later in the day I went back to the centre only to face the same thing: they were not out. During all these back and forth trips I was complaining on Twitter and the response I was getting was bordering on nonchalant. I also got a text from Jumia on Monday reminding me I had 2 days left to return the item. Wednesday morning I caller customer care again and was directed to another outlet in Oshodi, on Charles Amu street. I got there only to be told the same story that it was for vendor drop-offs and not customer returns. I was juggling my daily activities with running all over town to Jumia offices. Wasting over 1500 Naira on transport. I called Customer care again Wednesday evening and was told to try return the item to their office at 29 Airport Road and when I got there, to call the customer service for them to speak to the people there. The agent also they'd request for a re-delivery or something and I'd get a mail from them telling me where to go and return the item. Only mail I got was a reminder that I had to return the item to the Simbiat Abiola office that I'd gone to on Monday. I went to 29 Airport Road this morning, Thursday 23rd November and was told by the agents on ground that if I dropped it there that it would be left unattended to. I tried calling customer service but it was unavailable. From 10am when I got there to 2pm after I'd left to my day's activities, the customer care line was unavailable. This evening I got a mail telling me the return request had been cancelled since I did not return the item and I may not be able to return it again. If Jumia cannot accept return of defective items from the customer why do they deceive people that they do? This is pure wickedness and criminal!! What sort of scam are they running there? I am tired and frustrated. Never in my life will I use their service again and I will make sure to tell any and everybody I know not to use their service. They are running a big scam! Any discount you get from them will be paid back in the future with your frustration and tears. |
Number 4 and number 12 are quite contradictory, I think. How can one be a yearly tenant when max rent payment is 3 months? Abi I'm misunderstanding something? |
cuedish:They don't complain to you, do they? Why are you interested in their sex life? I'm sure you won't want someone poking around in yours. |

Nigeria is just a series of good intentions with poor execution. Computerization is great, heck it is the future, but the basic infrastructure like power and internet need to be 100% in place and with multiple redundancies before we can fully go digital. |
The fact that you have to beg students to attend lectures is appalling. I do not blame them, sha, I blame the decay in our educational system whereby a student, like a poster above, feel they can just sort their way out of failing grades. Something drastic needs to be done, and fast. The entire school management system needs to be overhauled, and the |
Also note the work-study policy of the country. Most students seeking to study abroad hope on earning income by working while studying. Make sure the country allows that as some countries do not, while those that do have a maximum number of hours you can work per week, which may not cover what you need, as well as other clauses. |
Just give them proper information on stds and pregnancy, that's all. |
Good luck to all the JAMBites. |
A secondary school teacher, when asked what she hated most about her job, said it was not the pay (she’d made peace with that). It was not the stubbornness of the students or their noise either (kids will and should be kids after all, she said). No. What she hated most about her job was the time spent on the non-teaching duties. She wished she spent less time doing mostly repetitive paperwork and more time engaging with the students. Administering a school requires a lot of hard work and paperwork. Take student administration, for example. Up-to-the-minute details about a student are necessary and required by various departments and also for appropriate feedback to the guardian. From class attendance to assessment scores to behavioural evaluations, it is imperative that all details of a student be accurate and presented without error and bias. Staff administration, finance management, calendar and timetable scheduling, asset management. Teachers and other administrative staff have been tirelessly collating this data by hand for years and, for teachers especially, this is time-consuming and errors are costly. It behoves the school, therefore, to implement a system of administration that is not only time-saving, but efficient and cost-effective. Certain software solutions have arose with grandiose claims of meeting all school administration needs, but on implementation and close inspection by the schools, they are found to be nothing but exam processing software. The school bears the cost of this falsehood; a cost paid in time and cash. When choosing a software service for school administration, consequently, it becomes important to ensure it meets several paramount features pertinent to comprehensive oversight of the school. Among these features are: 1. Comprehensive student and staff data management 2. Academics and assessment management 3. Interfacing between staff and students’ guardians 4. Fees and transaction management 5. Notifications via mail or SMS (or both) 6. Employee management and salary 7. Calendar and schedule management While parts of the curricula of the Nigerian education system have been widely derided for being outdated, redundant and generally moribund, little has been said of the need to modernize the administrative tasks in which teachers and other staff of a school find themselves investing precious man hours. The tools available for the extracurricular duties of the teacher and the school administrators are as important as those for teaching and learning. |
