Yes, you do. You deserve a happy, trusting marriage. We all do and shouldn't settle for less. Just play it cool.

I need a man? You hit the mosque on the head. LWKMD. I'm taken, but thanks for your concern. So whatever anyone does in the name of Islam is fine, as long as it's not in your geographical location? The Nigerian senator is your brother in religion. It shouldn't be hard for you two to locate each other. What's happened to your religion, though? It was a marvelous thing well into the 13th century. Islam had the tolerance and grace and compassion other religions lacked. Moslem women weren't the pitiable creatures they are now, especially in Saudi Arabia. The greatest thinker in the entire world in the 13 century was a Moslem Arab. They led the world in scholarship: in physics and medicine and astronomy and philosophy. But now see some Moslems refusing to let their kids have a proper education because education is a 'white man's tool'. Yet Islamic scholars laid the foundation for many disciplines today.

To say your religion is retrogressing would be an insult to the marvelous thing it used to be. When will you people learn the folly of mixing religion and state? You aren't learning from Christianity's mistakes, when religion was mixed with state in Europe. Did real progress come for either government or the Christian religion itself till the two were separated? When will Islam learn? It simply does not work. Honestly, if I'd been born a thousand years ago, I'd have chosen Islam over Christianity without a second thought and been Moslem. Now? No offence, but Islam is a disgrace, compared to what it used to be. Saudi Arabia, the seat of Islam, speaks eloquently enough.

Tom Paine wasn't an atheist. He simply wasn't touched in the head and lunatic with religion. You're not fit to clean his house, much less impugn him after he's long dead. He wasn't an atheist, but so what if he was? And which Christopher Columbus do you post so approvingly there? The same Columbus that massacred almost a million Aztecs in the so-called New World and destroyed civilizations older than his in the 16th century? I guess he's forgiven. He's mumbled religious mumbo jumbo and you're satisfied. That's fine. Let him satisfy his God and explain away one million murders and all those atrocities he and his men committed on those natives.Voltaire! Told to renounce Satan and he says, This is no time to make new enemies! LWKMD. If he sought the mercy of God he's long gotten it, so don't worry yourself on his account, dear. And what do you know? Y'all have composed the last words of some people here. Lol. Carry on, carry on. You and noetic2 are worth your weight in comic gold.

Nopuqueter of a man, it's not the Christians and atheists that are marrying infants. It's your fellow Moslems. So what's your thread here in aid of? You should take it to the Islamic section and educate your brethren there first. After that, hotfoot it to the Sharia Islamic Council and that fat-cheeked paedophilic im.becile bedding 13 year olds in the name of Islam. Then skeddadle to the Saudi religious authorities and complete their education on the same Koran both of you read. Don't fret, a handsome reward awaits you in Saudi. You're a defender of the faith.

What's your agenda here, man? You'd do better to take your message to the child brides in Northern Nigeria, and to the 9 year olds seeking divorce from 50 year old men in Saudi Arabia. Compile your posts and send it to the Nigerian Senator who married the 13 year old and said his Islamic religion allowed it. Send another copy to the Sharia Islamic Council that called a press conference and announced anyone can marry any woman or child under Islam, and Nigrians should leave the senator alone. What are the people here supposed to do with your posts? 'White-washing' wrongdoing is slick and sick, man. Take it to your fellow Moslems.

Saw this movie again. Along with Ghazab and Amar, Akbar, Antony, my favourite Indian movie. A few thing need forgiving. Sunita not only changed her face, the surgical operation changed her height, shape and personality too. Oh. And her fashion sense. And Vikram manages to recover and leave the same hospital she's in, ostensibly in daily contact with nurses and doctors, without finding out his mother lied. Doctor Mehra is magnificent: another Kapoor, and one of the very best actors India has ever produced. That was when India knew what acting was, and their best was far better than that smirking Sharukh Khan. Vikram's mother doesn't quite seem the villain I remembered. Poor Sunita.

I'm not too sympathetic though. The first Sunita is stunningly beautiful, the second is married to one of the world's wealthiest men, so there's only so far I can take sympathy. The scene where Kusum is leaving Doctor Mehra had me in tears. And the lovers' re-union at the end. Corny, but so wonderful. Extremely melodious and poignant music. Every single song is so good. My favourite, and it's hard to pick, would have to be the one sung after Vikram's passed his exams and Sunita runs to tell him, and a mule-drawn cart deposits them in a meadow. Beautiful classic. Ageless.

'Possibly with thunder and lightning' lol. You guys should take it easy na. It's not BF/GF, it's the man's marriage. We don't know either of them, much less the motives of someone whose side hasn't been heard. I've heard too many damning one-sided stories jere, only for the other side to present an entirely different perspective on the matter, and for the whole story to change. It's up to him to figure out what really happened by hook or crook, and decide what to do from there. He's not obligated to actually forgive her, only give her an enabling atmosphere to spill the beans if she's actually guilty. He should know the truth first. But it's like he's just looking for 'confirmation' of all his fears from total, anonymous strangers, giving only the info that will elicit what he wants to hear. I feel for you, but handle your marriage man. It's not indentured servitude. The door out is always open if there's grievous wrongdoing afoot.

Sure, people moved around. History isn't linear, it's cyclical. There's lots of things that hasn't been explained. They found an extinct human race whose dna is genetically distinct and bears no relation to anything on this planet, and whose last members died out 60000 years ago in Australia. Mungo Man. That's the second time an extinct human race would be found. We Homo sapiens weren't the only race of humans, merely the only surviving one. They think there may have been as many as 20 distinct hominid races. There are lots of things unexplained in science. Nevertheless there's no evidence human awareness was global until fairly recent in our history. There are no alternative histories. They merely adjust what's known in the light of new findings. You derived an entire philosophy of global Christ consciousness and global cycles of golden ages from a few unexplained findings in anthropology and archeology? Come now. You sound like you're having fun though. Enjoy.  smiley

It sounds bad, but no one's heard heard the other side of the story. There isn't enough to judge anything here. When people relate things, they always do it from their own self-serving point of view. If you can't sort your differences like adults, why did you get married? Maybe she's not 'showing remorse' because you're reading too much into the situation, and she doesn't think she's done anything wrong. Maybe you're not looking for the truth but only the stuff that will confirm you 'right' in your sexual jealousy. Why can't you two be honest with each other? Demand the truth from her, and don't let her get away with the nonsensical 'shouting' thing. Calmly let her understand exactly how you feel, tell her you love her and you'll forgive her if she trusts you with the truth. Tell her there's no need for lies. Ask her to tell you the whole story and don't show any hint of anger. Get the truth by whichever means, and act on that. Remember you don't know the truth yourself, so don't act like you expect her to 'confirm' something in your own mind. You two can sort this out like adults.

Does the Christ consciousness have anything to do with the Christ of the bible, or is divorced from that, but a spiritual state nevertheless?

Humanity reaches the Christ consciousness in stages, and these happen in cycles? And these are golden ages where the negatives are purged? Then we regress again? History doesn't seem to bear you out. Globalization is a recent phenomenon. Groups lived in isolation for thousands of years, so humanity wasn't monitored as whole and there's no way for anyone to know what all of humanity were up to or what they were feeling till recently, with the advent of revolutions in transport and communication. There doesn't appear to have been global golden ages, much less observed cycles of one. All of recorded History has merely been repeating itself ad nauseam: war, tribal conflict, conquest, exploitation, salvery, rich, poor, ambition, power struggles, bloodshed. And you say there has been thousands, maybe millions of such golden cycles? How do you figure that? Unless you're saying we're now heading towards a golden age of this Christ consciousness? It's possible, but how would you know that, since it hasn't happened yet and you ostensibly can't see into the future? How do you know you aren't adjusting reality to suit preconceived religious ideas?

The woman in the cave is a figment of DiCaprio's imagination. He was perpertuating his desperate delusion to escape the awful reality of what happened to his family. He was talking to himself in the cave. The Doctor explained everything in the lighthouse, and you were showed the rest of what happened, what led to DiCaprio's madness. What's confusing about the movie? It's perfectly straightforward and isn't half as complicated as, say, Fight Club.
Religion / Re: Hell Is A Christian Hoax by MadMax1(f): 9:04pm On Jun 28, 2010
It's not just Nigerians, fundamentalists and extremists are everywhere. Africans tend to practice the cruder version of a religion and stick with that, but extremism is just as rampant in the US as anywhere else. I hope you're right about the changing face of religion, and aren't seeing what you want to see. I do know spirituality is on the increase worldwide, and many atheists are embracing religion. Somehow, Buddhism seems to attract the majority of them. Someone remarked recently on two atheist friends of his who became devoted Buddhists. It's a lack of options that's the problem with some atheists. Many of them are aware there's more to life than meets the laboratory. Qantum mechanics is revealing some workings of the universe, the fact that the future can't be predicted here with absolute certainty. At the sub-atomic level, a single particle can simultaneously occupy different dimensions in time and space, and time travel is possible because they can accelerate them to 99.99% of the speed of light. Physics is unwittingly answering religious questions. It's exciting.

You're so right about all humanity and all things in existence being one, and not separate. We're comprised of the same stuff, on the physcla level. All the matter in the universe was made at the Big Bang. The same atoms are being recycled. You're made of precisely the same stuff as mountains and rivers and deer and rats and virus, only the combinations differ. When we die the atoms dissolve and go on to become parts of other things. Maybe your body contains atoms that formerly constituted Cleopatra of Egypt or John the Baptist or Ghenghis Khan. Matter doesn't really die, it's simply recycled. I love that when I die my physical body will be reduced, after centuries, to its atomic basics, and reconstitute part of a tree or a corn or an egg or a stream or a growing fetus or the core of some planet. I just love the thought.

The Christ consciouness seems to be a collective consciousness, of humanity as a whole? We've been here for hundreds of thousands of years and we haven't eliminated the negatives. Especially the insanity of war and conflict, sending people to their deaths by the millions because some daft politicians can't agree. There's enough food to feed everyone on this planet but people starve to death daily. You really think we'll ever get rid of the negatives?
Romance / Re: My Sister Had My Boyfriend's Baby. Forgive Her? Not? by MadMax1(f): 8:39pm On Jun 28, 2010
This is one of the most horrible stories of betrayal I've ever heard. It still hurts you. And the sister continued playing the sister and chatting with you and all that, while she was having an affair with your BF? The woman can kill. What kind of sister is that? Anyone does that to me, we're done for life. Imagine the pain of that kind of betrayal. Has she even made an effort to seek your forgiveness in five years? It doesn't sound like it. Forgive? It's so easy to say these things when you're not the person concerned. Good heavens. But the rest of your family did not sanction the affair and did not hurt you, so you shouldn't punish them for what your horrible sister did. You should reduce the distance between you and other family members. You'll have mixed feelings about your nephew, naturally, but it'll work itself out. You're so together. Forgive the be-atch when you forgive her. When that forgiveness comes naturally, and isn't forced or calculated. There's no rush a beg.

Believe me, all men aren't who.res! Far from it. There are good men out there. But don't rush into a romantic relationship. Anyone you date should be your good friend first. Men make excellent friends, once they get over the nuisance stage of thinking they can get into your pants. They can't help it. Once they've lost all hope they drop the masks and pretences and are themselves, and are really cool things.Life is short. Your sister and ex-BF do not get to deprive you of love, and then deprive you of other people you can love who are worthy of that love. They don't get to do that to you. Some men murder their wives. Does that mean all men murder their wives? Your BF betrayed you horribly. But he is not the blueprint for all men, and there are good men, worthy of you, out there. I'm so sorry for what happened. Just move close to your other family members and live your life to the fullest. When time has fully healed the wound, perhaps the monster gets to be your sister again, and perhaps she doesn't. She's long lost the privilege.

All right. How do you know we're outgrowing it though? Isn't this religion section a microcosm of the religious world out there, sans the oriental and eastern religious traditions? Too many liberal inter-faith friends may make one think the Judeo-Christian-Islamic religion is evolving into something with some semblance of sanity, and then you meet fundamentalists and literalists and extremists. It seems if indoctrination is done too early, or to particularly suggestible minds, it stays with them for life. There is a wilful ignorance at the heart of fundamentalism in any religion, because it can't thrive without ignorance and fear and paranoia. Why are you optimistic about our outgrowing these things? I don't see the signs. And what's the Christ consciousness?

Yeah. There is a lof of blood in our religions. Somehow the eastern religions seem to have escaped relatively unscathed. It might be because they practice what they preach. Compassion and self-knowledge and truth is the essence of the teachings of most of them, and the sophistication and subtlety of their religious thoughts and insight is just stunning. Thousands of years ago they had their theories about the origins of the universe, and the nature of light and atoms. Science will spend centuries scaling hurdles in empirical knowledge, finally scale the barrier, only to find they'd been outscooped on the nature of reality for a millenia by ancient religious thinkers.

Lol. There are people who haven't seen it. SPOILER ALERT.
Everything the doctor says is true. DiCaprio murdered his lunatic wife, who deserved to be murdered at least a dozen times more. He opts for a lobotomy rather than continue to be what he thinks he is, a monster. They'd warned him if he regresses again, it would mean the elaborate treatment had failed and they'd have no choice but to lobotomise him. He pretends he has regressed at the end, to end the nghtmare once and for all. You know he's pretending because when the other doctor calls him by his fake 'deluded' name as he's being led away to the lighthouse, DiCaprio doesn't respond. It's not his name. He did not regress. The treatment worked, but he doesn't want to live with himself.
Religion / Re: Hell Is A Christian Hoax by MadMax1(f): 8:19am On Jun 28, 2010
Yes, it is. Our minds are extremely powerful and suggestible things. Sometimes we find we've been labouring all our lives for a God we ourselves have created. More often than not, our Gods are handed down to us, complete with likes and dislikes and an instruction manual on how to work it. They bear a great deal of resemblance to humans, naturally, since they're the work of human hands. Who knows what the originals were like? They've gone through countless revisions down the ages. When we pray, we don't hear back. We give it the credit when things go well, and make excuses for it when things go badly. We don't have a single, personal, unambiguous encounter with these Gods. All there are, are second-hand stories and 'faith'. We throw ourselves into religious activity because, outside of that, we have nothing.  And it is sometimes these unverified alter-ego Gods that go head to head when people argue religion and 'My God is better than yours'. No doubt, many know their Gods well, but life's too short for meaningless arguments.

So I was asking for your (jenwitemi's) honest, unvarnished views, no argument involved. You've made some interesting assertions. That life ends here. I think you said something about people being parts of God that are reclaimed when they die. You say the God of the Judeo-Islamic-Christian tradition, based on the OT God, is actually the devil. That's classic Gnosticism. Can you elaborate on why you believe this to be so, and what else you believe?

Thanks, ttalks. I'm guessing you're a JW.

^^^ You are essentially right about our inherent ability to tell good from bad. But it may not end there. Why, for instance, do "good" men turn bad during war, natural disasters and similar upheavals?  Why, indeed, is there so much evil perpetrated by humans in spite of their inherently good nature? At the most basic level of looking at it, I think it's selfishness. It appears the ME factor alone is spectacularly successful in subverting the inherent good in us.

So right. Do we have inherent good though? Knowing right from wrong isn't the same as choosing right over wrong. Look at all we do to protect ourselves from each other. Take away all police and all armies, leave people to themselves, and you'll see just how 'inherently good' we are.

Religion / Re: Hell Is A Christian Hoax by MadMax1(f): 3:21pm On Jun 24, 2010
Jenwintemi, what are you? Buddhist? Gnostic? And why are you debating the eternal hellfire thing? Mind you, I think there is a hell. I think it's real and our choices take us there. I think we have something to do with it, but I don't know what. I don't think it's eternal. It makes no sense, there's nothing that merits it, and no God worthy of the name would do such a thing to creatures that didn't ask to be created in the first place. But eternal damnation in hellfire is perfect for human beings, with our relentless evil and cruelty, to wish on others. What's the point in an argument? Don't you know the futility of arguing against religious indoctrination? And they haven't the faintest idea. They're absolutely convinced of their doctrines, for which they have no proof, and the ace in the hole: any contrary view is of the devil, meant to lead them away from the truth. It's part of Satan's end-time deceit, because, you know, the very elect will be deceived. So they have to be on guard, and protect all they've been told with all their might. They're entitled to their views. It's their life, their minds, their spite, and thankfully, nothing to do with the reality of God.

Sometimes I wonder how God sees us, human beings. We're not nice things. We're not good things. And hell is here, already. This world is a kind of hell. Here you are in it, believing in eternal damnation for others because they didn't happen to be born Christian, and smugly thinking you're en route to heaven because your vanity tells you you're special, that's why you were born into the religion that takes you there. But billions of people who have the same thoughts as you, the same feelings you have, who cry and laugh and feel pain and are irritated and have those they love and who love them, billions of those are going to eternal damnation and you think it right, you think it fitting that it be so. You people. You seriously need repentance. You seriously need a change of heart. Do you have any personal knowledge of God? All there is is years of conditioned religious response, and auto-suggestion. A certain kind of music, a certain oratory, a certain atmosphere, and you fall into religious stupor and think you've been visited by God. You yourselves are doing most of it.

And your vicious vanity! A mind that has no problem with the eternal torment of others, while believing itself destined to strum harps and fiddle with crowns of gold in heaven. You're in trouble, and have no inkling of it! You're asleep and think you're awake. Please wake up. You can. Go to God. You have no need of any man to tell to tell you a single thing in this world. Don't take anyone's word for it. Only go to God and beseech Him to tell you what's true and what's not, and ask for proof, proof, proof. Don't even pray out loud. Just desire the truth with all your heart, and carry no preconceived ideas with you. He'll tell you. He'll confirm whatever he tells you. The words of Christ in the NT will confirm it, so you'll know there's no deception. If you don't seek Him for yourself and stop relying on empty religious rituals and dogma, I can almost bet you'll be left to your ways, to your religious pride and your vanity and self-righteousness and the hatred for others you carry about in you, disguised as 'zeal for the lord'. It's what you yourselves have chosen. He's not the hateful horror human beings are, and we cannot project the worst of what's in us on Him. You cannot. But you don't even want the truth as He sees it, do you? You already know it all. Horrible things. You yourselves should spend an eternity in hellfire. Maybe your blind eyes will open then.

Kilo ga n be? Hope you've sent out your play script. I don't know much about it as it's not my field, but aren't there competitions for writers and stuff to get you started? I admire someone who can sit down and write stuff as long as a play or one of those gigantic novels like The Stand by Stephen King. How do they do it? If you enjoy writing plays you should take it seriously.
