MyopicMods: Over 24-hours after an explosive device was detonated at the Christian Universal Church Incorporated located on No. 25 Azikiwe Road, Mile 3, Diobu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike, has yet to make any statement on the incident.
The church, also known as God’s Power House, is believed to be owned by the governor’s father, even as the police fingered members of the Indigenous People of Biafra for the attack.
As of the time of filing this report on Monday, neither Wike, nor any government official had reacted to the attack on the church.
Residents of Azikiwe and adjoining streets expressed fears that the state government might impose a curfew on the area as a result of the attack.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Diobu Vigilante, Prince Amatari, has alleged that Saturday’s attack on the church was targeted at Wike.
Amatari, who spoke on a live radio programme on Classic FM, 91.9 in Port Harcourt on Monday and monitored by our correspondent, corroborated the position of the spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, that IPOB members might have masterminded the attack.
He stated, “There was a burial in Diobu that same Saturday and the attention of the Diobu Vigilante was drawn to ensure that visitors, who came for the burial, go home safe and secure, which we did.
“This (explosion) funny incident played out after the burial. So, the rumour that it was IPOB that carried out the attack could be true because, the governor has been under attack from IPOB members.
“I remember vividly during the #EndSARS protests that the IPOB boss (Nnamdi Kanu) made offers to anyone, who could bring the governor’s head. They even went after the vigilantes and gave specific instructions that the vigilantes, who saved police stations, should also be killed.
“But my greatest joy is that God is bigger than them. So, what played out is a target on the governor and it is related to the IPOB. Since then, threats are still coming to Diobu on how they will still burn down police stations.”

Slain Borno farmers didn’t get clearance to work on rice fields: Garba Shehu The Buhari administration appeared determined to deflect responsibility for the weekend carnage that left 110 villagers killed.
Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu says farmers who were slaughtered on a rice field in Borno’s Zabarmari village should have obtained military clearance before resuming farming activities in the area.
Mr. Shehu who spoke to BBC newsday said the government was sad about the tragic incident, but added that the “people need to understand what it is like in the Lake Chad Basin area.”
He claimed that though much of the area has been liberated from Boko Haram terrorists, there are still a number of spaces that have not been cleared for the return of villagers who have been displaced.
“The truth has to be said. Was there any military clearance from the military who are in total control of the area?” Mr. Shehu queried. “Did anybody ask to resume activity?”
Mr. Shehu emphasised that he had been briefed by military authorities that the villagers did not seek military advice before exposing themselves to “a window that the terrorists have exploited.”
“So ideally, all of these places ought to probably be allowed to pass through proper military clearance before resettlement or even farmers resuming activities on those fields,” he said.
The presidency’s apparent misspeak comes barely 48 hours after Peoples Gazette reported that at least 43 rice farmers were beheaded by terrorists while working on their farms. Subsequent reports indicated that the fatalities was around 110 persons with some women also abducted by the marauders.
Mr. Shehu’s comment may be viewed as unempathetic and insensitive, even for a government that has become notorious for refusing to take responsibility for obvious failures of governance and always seeking to shift blame.
Which Hausas burnt properties in Lagos? The Obinna caught in Ondo too is Hausa??
Good you know Yorubas and Igbos can't agree on anything. Same treacherous behaviour you lots have been doing since Awolowo, M.K.O who you never supported but denied them their mandates with your masters up North.
Like the writer said, Igbos should meet PDP they served for 21 years and counting for presidency and not APC they contributed nothing to. It's easier for a Northerner to emerge president than for Umahi or anyone from SE in 2023.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demands for a comprehensive investigation into the Saturday’s explosion attack on the Christian Universal Church, Port Harcourt, River State capital, steered by father of River state Governor, Nyesom Wike.
Our party condemns this dastardly attack on the church, which we believe was well planned and targeted to causing harm to worshippers and persons close to Governor Wike, particularly, his father.
The PDP is disturbed by the intentions of the attackers in detonating an explosive in a religious place particularly given the large number of persons that usually gather at such places.
While we demand for a thorough investigation into the attack as well as prosecution of all those involved, we hold, as a party, that the time has come, more than ever in our contemporary history, for the amendment of our extant laws to allow state governors to be in charge of the security of their respective states.
We restate our call for the amendment of relevant sections of the 1999 constitution (as emended) to allow states more control of security issues in their respective domains.
Our party however commends the people of River state for their alertness, which led to the arrest of the attackers. Such courageous act by the people also points to the need to allow greater participation of communities and state governments in the handling of security issues in their environment.
The PDP especially commends Governor Wike for his efforts towards ensuring the security of his state despite the daunting challenges.
The PDP urges Governor Wike, the members of the Christian Universal Church and the people of Rivers State not to be deterred by this attack but to remain at alert especially at this critical time.

pressy011: @oyetola ,l commissioned 5 intra-city roads in Alekuwodo area of Osogbo for the benefit of our people. They're Akindeko-Awosuru Link raod, Adejumo Street with loop to WAEC road, Oremeji Spur road, Akinlade Street road and Adewale Street road. The Isopako road which is the 6th road in this network will soon be reconstructed.
The rehabilitation of these roads was in response to the demand by the people of Alekuwodo during our visit to the area shortly after our assumption of office, to thank them for their support and ask for their needs.
It's important to note that the roads were completed within 8 months of award, despite the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19. This is an indication of the seriousness we attach to the welfare of our people and the mileage we're ready to go to take care of their interest.
To ensure safety and security of lives and property, particularly at night, we've installed solar street lights on some of these roads. It's our belief that the completion of these roads will ease movt of goods and people, and stimulate socio-economic activities within this area and neighbouring communities.
We shall soon embark on the construction/rehabilitation of Ejigbo township road, Ido Osun township road, Gbongan township road, Ile-Ife township road, Kuta township road, GOF-Ori-Oke Pure Water road, Halelluyah Estate, Osogbo, Inisa township road, Ila-Arandun road and Ikirun township road among others.
We believe that in achieving the economic transformation and the good life that we seek, we need to provide good road network across the State. This is the reason we have been giving attention to provision of intra-city, inter-city and rural roads across the State.

Linx1234: Northern Elders Forum and the Chairman of Maje Foundation, Alhaji Rufai Mukhtar Danmaje, has asked the former Governor of Lagos state and current Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola to honorably resign his position for failing to complete any projects since his assumption of office as Works Minister five years ago.
Danmaje said it is no longer story that for example in the entire Northern region, no single project embarked upon by the Minister has been completed despite the huge tax payers money allocated to his ministry.
Arrewa: The East should forget about presidency for now!
They picked up a fight with the wrong side.
The north has the power and the capacity to decided who rules the country!
Sokoto and Kano state alone equals the whole of the East.
you are mad who gave you that power. Is because Southerners are give you space to operate. Who are the North your talking about. When time for election you all North after election is North Central. I wonder when OMENKA and his brother will produce the president of Nigeria
Tonway: we have seen the outcome of the region and the performing level of the commission under their control after sixteen years and before then.
The meeting of the presidential delegation to interact with stakeholders of the south-south region of the country has come and gone, but the echoes of the meeting are still being savor among the people of the South-south in particular and Nigerians in general. While others sees and acknowledged the seven points demands of the southern governors as a welcome development, there are those, from the South-south and the country in general, who from past antecedents of the southern leaders, knows what the demands might turned into, should the demands be obliged by Mr. President, and the southern leaders have their ways.
While we must applaud Mr. President’s democratic and fatherly disposition as a listening father to initiate and have such roundtable talk with the various components of the country, with the quest to listen to his children, we must also admonish Mr. President as a father, not to accent and grant the southern leaders their request, most especially, the request to have the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to always consult with them before carrying out projects in the south-south or the Niger Delta region. This is so because, having been one from the region in the sixteenth years of PDP’s reign in the country and during the military regime, with the fact that the region has never been an opposition in those periods, we have seen the outcome of the region and the performing level of the commission under their control after sixteen years and before then.
After sixteen years of having them monopolized and do as they liked with the NDDC and to Arrow the development of the region, we have seen how the south-south and the Niger Delta region has remained an eye sore in term of development, the resources meant for the development of the region only finding its ways into the pockets of powerful and well connected people the leaders of the region dim fit.
Another big reason why the President who is the father of the nation shouldn’t oblige the southern leaders on their request to control the NDDC is that, southern leaders are just too mean with their politics. To them, the winner takes it all and the loser and their followers languished in the abysmal pit of denial and deprivation for the duration of the mandate of the winner. We have seen it glaringly in the recently covid-19 palliatives sharing in some states of the Niger Delta, where government and their various representatives at all tires only gave the state’s palliatives to only their party members and shared base on party line in a lockdown that affected everyone. So apparently, the southern governors are again seeking, under another government which they are now opposition for a new avenue to tightened the knot on their opposition, to block every benefit that might be coming from government and prevent their oppositions from accessing any.
In the sixteen years of PDP reigned, where they had everything triggering down on their line from the top to the bottom, they appointed and suggested who made it to the board of NDDC, and who got contracts. Just imagine how much suffocation, denial and deprivation the opposition must have experienced in those sixteen years, this is the tradition that had been broken since the winning and the inception of the APC government in the last five years which they seek to restore and continue in this voodoo and selfish demands.
