10mobile: Former President Goodluck Jonathan says pictures of his mock coffin displayed in the media during the anti-fuel subsidy removal protests of 2012 traumatised his aged mother who had lost eight children.
Jonathan said this in his recently published book titled, My Transition Hours.
The former President said,
Jonathan said during the protests, several notable Nigerians visited him, asking him to reverse the increment in the pump price of petrol.
Some of the prominent Nigerians who visited him include: General-Overseer, Living Faith Mission (Winners Chapel) Bishop David Oyedepo; Primate of the Anglican Church, Rt.Rev Nichola Okoh and eight other clerics.
He said what was more disheartening was the fact that the opposition in Lagos had hijacked the protests.
Jonathan added that even the Nigeria Labour Congress which had been briefed on the matter before the subsidy removal was announced was co-opted into joining the protests.
The former President added,
Jonathan further stated that the House of Representatives, which was led by pro-opposition Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, decided to exploit the situation.
He said the House accused him of fleeing the country in a bid to exploit the situation for political gain.

etokhana: The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, has attacked the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi over his absence at the Southsouth stakeholders’ meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation.
The Igo Aguma-led party said that the minister was at the Port Harcourt airport to receive the Presidential delegation, escorted them to the Government House, and disappeared.
The Federal Government held a meeting in the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
The absence of Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State, drew the ire of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, saying the Transportation Minister cannot justify his absence, which it described as “unfortunate.”
According to a statement by Livingston Wechie, the media adviser to its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Igo Aguma, the party demanded that Amaechi should tender an apology to the people of Rivers State and his party for his “embarrassing action.”
The statement added, “We condemn the absence of Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of Transportation from the Southsouth Stakeholders meeting with the Presidency which held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.”
The APC wondered why Amaechi was never part of such a crucial stakeholders’ meeting that has to do with the Southsouth geopolitical zone.
“The absence of the minister of Transportation, who is supposed to be the minister representing Rivers State in the federal cabinet is most unfortunate as there can be no justification for his non-participation.
“The action of Amaechi is an evidence of the type of divisive and selfish leadership he is giving the APC in the state which is solely aimed at destroying the party at all cost for his personal gain in keeping with his vows,” he said.
The meeting had in attendance most presidential appointees from the region and elected representatives.

ABlAstate: Abia state has defiled development since 1999. Abia has been ruled by Orji Kalu, Ta Orji and now Ikpeazu. Abia hasn't had any form of development since 1999 till date.
Abia state is best described as the worst and most backward state in Nigeria devastated and ravaged with filth, horribly dilapidated bad roads with craters. Aba has degenerated into hellfire while Umuahia is more or less a rural area littered with old houses, bad roads and filth.
Abia state government is owing civil servants upto 1yr areas, owing pensioners upto 3yrs areas.
Hospitals in Abia state are mere poultry farms. Schools in Abia state can best be described as pig houses.

iwaeda: Hundreds of farmers from the Egbe community in Kogi State have protested against the incessant destruction of their farmlands and crops by herdsmen.
The protesters called on the state government to intervene now in order to avoid the breakdown of law and order.
The spokesman for the farmers, Wale Oti, who spoke to journalists on the incident, said the way and manner in which crops waiting for harvest were being destroyed was unbearable.
The protest, he said, became necessary because of last Sunday’s total destruction of their farmlands and crops that were ready for harvest.
Egbe is a boundary town between Kogi and Kwara states with about 50,000 inhabitants, whose major source of livelihood is farming.
Oti stated that the farmers had been enduring incessant destruction of their farmlands for years, but noted that the situation became worse when the Kogi State Government gave the herdsmen a warm reception and allowed them to settle in the community in droves.
He added, “Indigenous farmers, who had been labouring since the beginning of the rainy season and were optimistic of having something to harvest, got to their farms on Sunday morning to see the total destruction of their farms due to overgrazing.
“Several reports have been made to the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayo Irukera, asking him to caution the herdsmen, and we are making another one to further buttress our bitterness and pain about what the herdsmen are doing to us.”
Abagworo: While most of us may be sober at the moment as a result of challenges from Covid-19 pandemic but there is definitely a cause to rejoice for natives of Amaruru in Imo State and Ezinifite in Anambra State as the colonial bridge linking the 2 communities which collapsed in May 2018 has been completely reconstructed by the Federal Government through FERMA. It made front page here that year
