shehuolayinka: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday said President Muhammadu Buhari inherited “a highly debased economy” from the immediate past administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
A situation which, he said, prevented some of the steps taken by President Buhari to manifest on the well-being of the poor Nigerians.
The Vice President spoke at Saint Luke’s Anglican Church, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, during the burial service for Mrs. Moroluke Fakoyede, mother of the Secretary to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.
The Vice President also said the efforts of the incumbent administration could have been felt more if not for the activities of those he described as “saboteurs” allegedly working against the government.
He further disagreed with inference that selfishness is the bane of those in government, saying that the Buhari administration is doing its best for Nigerians.

BleedingPen: ...bags 'Grand Patron' title
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, received the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Abuja, Igbere TV reports.
Our State House correspondent reports that the delegation, which were drawn from Nigeria and other West African countries, were received at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking on the closure of the Nigerian border, President Buhari said the aim was to put an end to smuggling and dumping of substandard items from other countries into Nigeria.
He lamented the impact of fake drugs and foods on the Nigerian citizens, including how fake electrical items have led to fires in homes and loss of lives and property.
The president said since the border was shut, Nigeria has witnessed a significant drop in the volumes of counterfeit smuggled goods in Nigerian markets.
Buhari, who was conferred with "Grand Patron" of the association by the delegates, equally used the opportunity to thank the NACCIMA for the honour.

In reality, no one is having fun in Nigeria. But if anyone does, it is the Igbo masses who are the ones having fun in Nigeria because they depend less on the system to survive. However, I completely agree with the notion that Igbo elites are politically less favored, compared to the Fulani elites.

Read Full Statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.
PRESIDENT BUHARI ATTENDS 74TH SESSION OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN NEW YORK
President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja Sunday for New York, United States to participate in the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA74) which opened on Tuesday, September 17.
The President’s participation at this year’s gathering of world leaders is particularly significant as it coincides with Nigeria’s Presidency of UNGA.
Recall that on June 4, 2019, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, was unanimously elected as the President of UNGA74 – an indication of the country’s high esteem in global reckoning.
This marks the second time Nigeria would be occupying that prestigious position following late Maj-Gen. Joseph Nanven Garba’s election during UNGA44 in 1989.
The theme for UNGA74 is, “Galvanizing Multilateral Efforts for Poverty Eradication, Quality Education, Climate Action and Inclusion.”
The General Debates will kick off on Tuesday, September 24 during which leaders of delegations will present their National Statements as well as speak to the theme of the session.
President Buhari is scheduled as Number Five Speaker on the first day of the debates – another plus for the country as most world leaders will be listening in the General Assembly Hall while the global audience watches on live television.

Flashyoil1: The immediate past governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has lamented the humiliating treatment meted out to him by his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in spite of his sacrifices and financial contributions to the party.
Okorocha, the senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, told newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday that he got evil reward from APC for his commitment to the course of the party, especially in the South East.
He noted that he had to go contrary to his kinsmen and political associates just to ensure that the party was placed on a sound footing in Imo and in the South East, but was surprised that he rewarded with suspension.
“If you recall, I was called all sorts of names like ‘Okoro Hausa’ and that I was building mosques and all that were associated with it.
“But I kept deaf ears because I felt that I was on the right course with my people.
“I was instrumental to bringing Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC and he cannot deny that fact.
“I took the troubles of APC in the South East and the APC I see now can easily tell Gov. Emeka Ihedioha to come to its fold if only he can fight Rochas.
“That is really an unfortunate situation and it has weakened my spirit and my faith to the party because I thought we are family working to advance the course of this nation.
“But the way it is going, it does not look like there will be a solution. And there seems to be silence everywhere.
”I don’t even know my stand about my suspension because for some time, I don’t know what is happening in APC.
“But for the silence all over, it just looks as if it is normal.
“So, I am just waiting and thinking of what next to do but I am still a member of APC and I love the party and will support it,” Okorocha said.

Aye Dee made this known as renewed protests in South Africa on Sunday saw the people of the country marching in the streets with weapons and chanting songs calling for foreigners to leave their country.
According to Aye Dee, boycotting BBNaija and other South African goods will put economic pressure on them and make them learn to live in peace with people of other nationalities.
