PoliticsRe: CAN Demands On NASS Leadership Distasteful : MURIC by madmohamed(m): 10:33am On Apr 03, 2019
faaz24:
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has berated the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for demanding the position of senate president or speaker of the House of Representatives.

The MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, said yesterday in a statement that the CAN’s demand by the president of association Dr. Samson Ayokunle, in a letter to the National Assembly signed on his behalf by his special assistant, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji was setting a bad precedent

According to him, CAN is simply manifesting symptoms of acrobatic religiosity, as sensitive positions in the National Assembly should be given to those who deserve it based on experience, competence, antecedence and loyalty to the party.

“These are not posts of commissioners or chairmen of government agencies. The posts of senate president and speaker of the House are too important to be determined on the pulpit or mimbar. We should not be looking at religion here. Our focus and interest should be Nigeria

“Why is CAN agitating now? Where was CAN when Christians took all the principal offices in the NASS not too long ago? Where was CAN when David Mark was senate president, Patricia Ette was speaker of the House and Aloysius Katsina Alu was the Chief Justice of Nigeria parri pasu?” he said.

He urged the All Progressive Congress (APC) to ignore CAN’s demand, saying it is an unworthy distraction, as the same CAN that campaigned vigorously in the churches against the emergence of the party as winner in the 2019 elections and therefore, does not deserve APC’s attention.

According to him, it was the deep-seated resentment which CAN leaders have for this government that led to the delay in congratulating Buhari after he won the 2019 presidential election and that they later claimed that they were under pressure to congratulate him.
that is y I love my Catholic they can never push to the wall like CAN no wander they pull out of CAN. CAN even congrats buhari whit pressure from Cabela's CAN should learn how to

Nels55:
The president has completed his mission of winning re election and cares less about anything including the party affairs..

What most people fail to realise is that Buhari is not a politician, for him and his inner caucus Apc lend them the platform to achieve their objective, now that mission has been accomplished, nothing matters any longer including the downfall of the party..

Notice during the election in some states, Buhari will say once you vote for me, you can vote any other person of your choice in the gubernatorial and immediately he won re election, the presidency has remained silent in any other thing..

For example, the NASS leadership tussle is going on, Buhari doesnt care who wins the SP or speaker , they won't stop his next 4 years, even with the crisis going on with PDP appeals for some gubernatorials , Buhari still won't mind if judgements favour PDP..

To the president after these 4 years, he retiring straight away and i tell you Buhari will not even campaign for APC in 2023.. The reason been that he love the north so much and if PDP goes with a Northern candidate, Buhari can never go an inch for the southern candidate in APC..

APC should understand that the president is an old man and sees things differently, to him these next 4 years will be an opportunity to reach out to those he has hurt and will do everything to build bridges for the sake of his family. He knows that after 4 years , he will be nothing just like the others before him and if those he hurt gets to power, they will come for him or his family..

So if APC is looking at Buhari to help influence things for them , they should forget it.. He already have enemies from Kano and God forbid someone like Kwankwanso gets power in 2023, then Kano will show Kastina that they are far too young for them..
did u think buhari will reach on Jonathan I don't think so

PoliticsRe: PDP Wasted $383bn In 4 Years –osinbajo by madmohamed(m): 8:14am On Mar 29, 2019
sophsia62:
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has said the People’s Democratic Party frittered away $383 billion in four years, rather than spend the funds on major infrastructure for the country.

Prof. Osinabjo disclosed this in Abuja, yesterday, at the 11th Bola Tinubu Colloquium, held to commemorate the birthday of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Osinbajo, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the event, blamed past governments for being wasteful in times of abundance.

“I have said it before, Nigeria’s main problem is not a lack of ideas, it’s not. Most of the time, especially with the leadership of the past, it is lack of integrity in leadership and corruption in particular and it is the reason we are finding it difficult to make any progress.

“That is why we earned $383 billion in four years – 2010 to 2014 – the highest ever in the history of our country and yet Lagos-Ibadan expressway not done, all of what is being done today not done.

“We cannot point to a single major project, a single major infrastructure project that was completed in the ten years period despite the high wealth, including power. So, a government coming after so many years of waste must be a government that first, emphasises fiscal prudence, a government that emphasises integrity in public finance so that we manage the little resources we have to achieve the maximum that can be achieved and that is what president Muhammadu Buhari has set out to do.”

Osinbajo, who served as Tinubu’s Justice commissioner, also eulogised his former boss.

“We do it (the colloquium) in celebration of a man who has spent the last 30 years of his life in creative public service. Right from the days of being Lagos governor, he provided clarity of thought and rare vision in all aspects of life.

“Once in a while, I think history gives us people who are gifted, transformative leaders and I believe our country has been gifted by this transformative leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Dignitaries at the event were APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, Tinubu’s wife and senator representing Lagos Central, Oluremi, Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode; his Kano counterpart, Abdullahi Ganduje, Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello as well as Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari.

Igbos Have Themselves To Blame For Voting Atiku - APC

The ruling APC said it does not deserve any blame for not zoning the position of Senate President or Deputy Senate President to the South-East.

Rather it said the South-East should blame itself for queuing behind Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP in the just concluded general elections.

The party was reacting to the outburst of Orji Uzor Kalu, who said that unless the APC makes him the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate, he will fight to become the Senate President.

Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, in a chat with Daily Independent said while nobody is stopping Kalu from contesting for the position of Senate President, the reality is that he cannot win since the zoning arrangement didn’t favour him.

According to him, rather than getting angry with APC leadership, Kalu should blame his people in the South-East for putting all their eggs in one basket by rejecting President Muhammadu Buhari and casting over 90 percent of their votes for Atiku.

“That shouldn’t be a problem. He can contest for the position of Senate President. But the issue is, can he win? Nobody is stopping him from contesting. Igbo people always play themselves out. So, Kalu cannot blame APC.

“He should blame his own people from the South-East. He should blame them because they don’t know how to play politics. They play politics like a one-way thing. They all voted for Atiku in the presidential election. So, now that Atiku lost, who will help people like Orji Kalu? 99.9 percent of them followed Atiku.

“So, what is Kalu crying for? He should go back to his people and educate them on how politics is played especially at the national level. They should play 50-50. If this one didn’t work, the other can work.

“So, Orji Uzor Kalu must go back to his people and educate them because he himself is not worthy to be Senate President or Deputy Senate President. So, if he wants to contest, he can do so. Nobody is stopping him. But I know that he cannot win”, he said.

PoliticsRe: We Live Peacefully With Our Hosts, Says Hausa Community In Nnewi by madmohamed(m): 7:28am On Mar 23, 2019
actiondrilling:
The Hausa Community in Nnewi is desperately in need of its own market and burial ground, where members can do their business and bury their dead loved ones.

The community, which has existed in Nnewi since the early 1970s, said apart from the two issues, they are happy and living peacefully with their host community.

The Chief of Hausa community in Nnewi, Alhaji Mohammed Diya said the indigenes of Nnewi have been friendly with them in everything, but have not been able to meet their demands for land where they can establish their own market and burial ground.

“Hausa people living in Nnewi are many and we are not happy because we do not have a market that is called Hausa market. A market where we can bring cattle, bags of maize and other farm produce and sell. Apart from the issues of market and burial ground, we don’t have any problem with the people here. They are very friendly and accommodating.

According to him, Hausa businessmen are interested in bringing cattle, goats and different farm produce to sell to the people, which would be for the benefit of both Nnewi and Hausa people.

“We are many here and we have our mosque where we have worshipped since 1972. If they give us land, after some time they will collect it back because they said in Igbo land, land belongs to families and not government. If any of our members dies here, the corpse is taken to Awka for burial. We have met with the Igwe of Nnewi, HRM Igwe Orizu, and he has been promising us all these years and we are still expecting him to fulfill the promise.

I have been in Nnewi since 1973. The person that brought me here was Alhaji Bello Sambo; he lived in this compound and died here. One Idrisu became the second chief of Hausa community and when he died, I became the third chief. I am still here where they lived and died,” he stated.

“I speak Igbo language very well; the only thing is that I cannot write Igbo. My daughter Fatima came first in Igbo language here in Nnewi at the Women Development Centre.”

The Secretary of Hausa Community in Nnewi, Mr. Sali Suleiman, who also spoke with Akelicious, reiterated that they are living well with their host community.

“We have been requesting for a plot of land to establish our own market since we are not into the business of motor parts. We have been making this request since the old Anambra State, when I had not even come to Nnewi. We have written to so many governors even before Anambra State was created. We will continue to make the request. May be one day, we will get the land to do our own business.

“During the military regime of Col. Rufai Garba, a plot of land was allocated to us for a market but, along the line, some people came up and said that government does not own land in Nnewi and so does not have the right to give out family land to anybody. Since we do not want problems with our landlords, we did not protest,” he said.

Suleiman dismissed fears of disagreement or conflicts of any kind with the natives. “The IPOB issue is not in any way disturbing us and anyone who tells you that the IPOB is affecting us here is lying. We do not have any challenges with the people here; we are living peacefully with them. I have been in Nnewi for 34 years and we have not had any major issue with the indigenes,” he said.

PoliticsRe: No Plans To Sell Lagos Trade Fair Complex – FG by madmohamed(m): 7:04pm On Mar 19, 2019
Nkemakonam62:
An agency of the Nigerian government, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on Tuesday said there are no plans to sell the Lagos Trade Fair Complex as speculated.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Bureau states that the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) does not intend to sell the Complex, rather the facility would be concessioned through a competitive transaction process,” BPE spokesman Amina Tukur Othman said in a statement.

Prior to Othman’s statement, traders at the complex protested a rumoured sale of the complex by the government to a private company.

The Bureau on August 23, 2017, had announced that the government had terminated of its lease agreement with Aulic Nigeria Limited in some national dallies with effect from August 23, 2017.

However, Othman said the complex had not been sold, instead, the government plans to concession the facilities through a private firm- Messrs Feedback Infrastructure Services.

He explained that the government had “met with the entire traders’ associations to explain the essence of the planned concession.”

Othman cautioned traders not to transact with anyone on “any purported allotment, buying, selling, letting, leasing, charging, and subdivision, construction upon or dealings in connection with the said property and parcels of land in any other manner howsoever without the written permission of the FGN represented by the BPE is unlawful, illegal, fraudulent and amounts to trespass.”

She further warned that any person(s) interfering with the said parcels of land “stand to lose their money as the FGN through the BPE will neither honour agreements, contracts or arrangements entered into – to transact the property and or parcels of land whether.

The BPE spokesman added that government will not refund any monies paid in respect of such transactions.
