Great12m: Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, has disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the upgrade of the Benin Airport to international standard with a cargo terminal. Minister of State, Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika said this during his courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House in Benin City, Edo State, on Monday.
“Plans have been concluded to upgrade landing system with adequate radio equipment that will enable the Airport handle both day and night operations, even in adverse weather conditions”, Sirika said. “There are plans to also extend the runway at the Benin Airport to enable it handle high volume of traffic with capacity to accommodate cargo planes.
“Aviation connects businesses, trade, cultures, nations and people. With a standard airport in place, it becomes easy to achieve economic growth and development. We will work with Edo State Government to ensure that within the next 12 months, Benin Airport will become an International Standard Airport with all the necessary aviation equipment in place.” In his remarks, Obaseki said “This is the most astonishing news I have heard as a governor this year.”

“The effort this administration has made since assuming office is gradually paying off with the assurance coming from the Minister that in a couple of months, work will commence in Benin Airport to upgrade it to international standard. “This administration is working hard to transform Edo State to an economic hub. What is missing is rail transport linking the state with other parts of the country.
“The upgrade of the Benin Airport to international standard will complement our strategic geographical location.” I love this man nnamdi kanu everything he say is coming to happen . where is Nnia nwodo he should come and explain this |

chimjoshjuan: Governor Nasir El-Rufai has revealed his plans of sending a delegation to tell the Republic of Niger to start using the Kaduna Inland Dry Port instead of using the seaports in Lagos State.El-Rufai who revealed that he will tell Niger to start using Kaduna port and not Lagos while speaking on Tuesday on sidelines of the ceremony for the commencement of cargo delivery by rail to the Kaduna Inland Dry Port, said;
“We are very grateful today’s event has opened a new vista of commercial opportunities, not only for northern businessmen but even for our neighbouring countries. I intend to send a delegation to the Republic of Niger to sensitise the government of that country on the opportunities of receiving their goods in Kaduna instead of Lagos and having to truck them, as well as any of their exports from Kaduna port to any part of the world.
You can ship your goods directly from Kaduna to any part of the world and you can also import goods from any part of the world directly to Kaduna without your containers or any of your goods being opened up for inspection in Lagos.”

Politics › Re: Boko Haram: Army Reveals Those Working Against Nigeria by madmohamed(m): 5:11pm On May 04, 2019 |
akelicious: The Nigerian Army on Saturday alleged that some unpatriotic individuals, groups and foreign interests were working against the security situation in the country in particular and West African Sub-region in general.
It said they were making concerted efforts to further induce ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists and bandits with funds and other logistic support.
Colonel Sagir Musa, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement said their body language and unguarded utterances seem to be in tandem with the above and imply tacit support for the criminals.
He noted: “For example, credible source has shown that some individuals are hobnobbing with Boko Haram terrorists, while others are deliberately churning falsehood against the security agencies with a view to set the military against the people and the government.
“They are also demoralising troops and security agencies through false accusations and fake news. Therefore, it has become necessary to inform the public and warn such persons and groups to desist as the consequences of their actions would be calamitous to themselves and our great country.
“Some of these mischievous elements thought that we would not have a safe and successful general elections but were proved wrong, hence they want to derail the scheduled handing over later this month and to scuttle the democratic process in the country.
“We also noted that foreign interests are also working assiduously to cause disaffection and divide the coalition Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to give room for the so-called Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP) and its defeated local franchise, Boko Haram terrorists group to resurrect.
“While we have confidence on the Federal Government of Nigeria’s efforts at sustaining and reinvigorating the MNJTF to continue it’s good work, we would not relent in clearing the visages and remnants of Boko Haram terrorists and their sympathisers.
“The Nigerian Army is a stakeholder in our national security and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria. Additionally, we are making this statement because the military, particularly the Nigerian Army, has always been called upon to intervene in conflict situations in order to resolve crises in most cases when they get worse, while the public expect miracles.
“We would like to reiterate our unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and we are determined more than ever before, to continue to uphold the constitution and defend the territorial integrity of this nation from both external and internal aggression.
“Nigeria is a sovereign country with clearly established judicial system, therefore all aggrieved persons and groups should take advantage of that and resolve differences amicably.”

Politics › Re: Security Has Collapsed – Northern Elders by madmohamed(m): 9:49am On Apr 15, 2019 |
agwom: The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) yesterday expressed dismay over what it called the recent “cataclysmic collapse of security and colossal threat to lives and property” in many parts of Nigeria.
The convener of the forum, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, told journalists in Kaduna yesterday that the situation was more serious in the north, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to be sensitive to the plight of the people in the region.
According to him, “while the north still lives under horrendous Boko Haram threats, the situation has been aggravated by threats of banditry, kidnappings, armed robbery, marauding youth gangs, herders and farmers mini-wars, and seemingly overwhelmed or indifferent governments.”
He said large swathes of territory in the north were now effectively bandit land; while agriculture is in ruins, stressing that in all these was the cumulative effect of a region whose economy and people, especially the youth, had been abandoned.
Abdullahi cautioned that a dangerous youth bulge is a recipe for crime, violence and wars as poverty and underdevelopment can create a brutish and violent society.
He described as adhoc afterthoughts, the ban on mining in Zamfara.
He noted that illegal mining had been going on in different parts of the country and had nothing to do with the rising spate of insecurity in the north.
He said: “We at NEF cannot in good conscience, remain silent as criminal activities and bloodletting escalate in Nigeria and our region. We have sadly lived with unfortunate violence in the last few years but this should not continue or escalate.
“It would be irresponsible for us to refrain from calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to decisively respond to the existential threats faced by northern Nigerians in particular during these times and beyond. NEF as a matter of social responsibility and tradition, would never shy away from speaking truth to power, irrespective of the partisan, sectional or whatever constellation of political power in the nation.”
“We hereby demand that President Buhari demonstrates higher levels of concern and sensitivity to the plight of traumatized citizens in the country, especially in the states of Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Benue, Niger, Plateau, Taraba and virtually the entire North.
“We demand for decisive, comprehensive and fundamental governmental action against poverty, underdevelopment and insecurity. Above all, we demand that President Buhari shows leadership and compassion which are the reciprocal expectations of the Nigerian people from their president,” he stated.
