post=75711381: FULL EXCERPTS of the news here:
President Muhammadu Buhari has said Niger Delta militants and the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents undermined its administration from meeting expectations of Nigerians.
President Buhari who is seeking a fresh mandate in next Saturday presidential election made the revelation on Wednesday at the All Progressives rally for the Federal Capital Territory held at Eagles Square, Abuja.
He noted that at the inception of his administration the price of crude oil fell to an all time low which reduced the earnings to the Federation Account. He expressed regret that militants in the Niger Delta instigated by certain forces worsened the state of the economy by disrupting crude oil productions.
He said: “When we came, the price of crude from over $100 average, went down to $37 and $38 and then the militants were unleashed on this administration but we have all now overcome those difficulties.
“I want to remind everybody where the country was before we came in in May 2015 where we are now and what we have been able to do with the resources available to us.
“You residents of Abuja know a lot about our three fundamental campaign aspirations security, economy and fighting corruption. In security, the people of the northeast and the people of Abuja can know much better. Boko Haram were holding more than 17 local governments in the northeast when we came, they are not holding any local government now.
“But what they are doing is indoctrinating young men and women, wrap them up with explosives and send them to soft targets, mosques, market places, motor parks and so on.
“And then, we had the problem of herders and stagnant farmers in Benue state, which we have looked after it. The problem of people who are just looking for trouble and they find something from you, especially in Zamfara state. Those two are being looked after by the security agencies.”
President Buhari further declared that his administration was committed to reviving the economy and stimulate growth by putting decaying social infrastructures in good shape. He also restated his administration resolve to unearth what the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo did with fund earmarked to restore stability of power supply during his tenure.
“On the economy, we are very lucky, but unfortunately, Nigeria has been underestimated. We had in agriculture in the last three years since we came. What the government did was to get partners that are available at half the price it used to be and thank God we hardly import rice now, more than 90 per cent of rice import has stopped and the money we realized, we are ploughing it back to infrastructure. “You know the condition of our roads, you know the condition of the railway, it was virtually killed and you know there was no power.
“The previous government admitted without anybody asking them that they spent $16 billion on power, you know more than I do, where is the power, where is the money? Stolen! My point will come, when I talk about bribery and corruption which is the third undertaking we made, those people who said they spent $16 billion on power eventually they will account for it.
“We are under a system now those who have been given responsibilities in the three tiers of government, the centre and the state government and if they abuse it we will ask the security agencies to investigate and prosecute them. “We have already done so in a number of cases, you know it, they came and bought properties here in Abuja, they invested outside the country, we are appealing to the countries, Europe and America to help us recover the looted funds and property which we are putting back to build infrastructure with the resources available to us. “We were doing that militants were unleashed on us but we have now overcome those difficulties and now building infrastructure. If you give us the next four years, I assure you, you will not regret it.” Jesus Christ this man can lie |

AdexUpdates: An All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Sen. Bola Tinubu, has reacted to the attack on top party leaders in Ogun State during their campaign rally. According to Daily Times, Tinubu said that the recent attack on the APC rally in Ogun was disrespectful to the office of the Nigerian President. Tinubu lamented in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media, Mr Tunde Rahman on Tuesday in Lagos, that the attack could have potentially harmed the person of the President. He was reacting to the APC rally in Ogun on Monday where some APC leaders were attacked. ”An incident did actually occur at the Ogun State APC rally, but it is not the one PDP has concocted. The true incident that should be reported and condemned is that people who oppose the party and the president tried to infiltrate and disrupt the rally. The attack by these operatives is disrespectful of the office of the president and could have potentially harmed the person of the president.” “Such antics have no place in our political discourse. The author of these misdeeds should desist before real harm is done.” Tinubu said he had no plans of leaving the party as being insinuated by some reports based on a video clip from the Ogun rally. In the video, Tinubu was alleged to be seen throwing the party’s flag at the presidential rally. He, however, accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of framing the video clip to mean that he was throwing away the party’s flag. According to him, he remains ‘Gidigba’ (solid) in the governing party.

The construction of a broom which is the symbol of the All Progressives Congress (APC) near the city gate of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja followed due process, the FCT Department of Outdoors Advertisement Services (DOAS) has said.
DOAS is the department in the FCTA empowered to register, authorise, bill, control, as well as collect revenues for advertising and signage within Abuja.
Coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar Shuaibu, whose office supervises DOAS, the APC, FCT chapter, got approval for the broom to be mounted.
He said, “We approved it because it is not defacing the city. So, just as we have been giving other political parties approval to erect their trademarks so long as they agree with our standard, why can’t we also approve this? If you look around the Airport Road, you will see a lot of other posters of several political parties, so this is not different from them.”

meethumb: Following the agitation for Biafra referendum, championed by the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo Jnr, has revealed the only way Biafra can be achieved.
Nwodo, was reacting over an order by the IPOB leader, which he (Kanu) directed his followers to boycott the 2019 election.
Recall that Mazi Kanu, during a live radio broadcast ordered his followers (IPOB members) to boycott the 2019 general election; according to him, "boycotting the election will be like a total referendum".
Reacting to Kanu's order, Nwodo, in a video by BBC Igbo, said Kanu's move and tactics was wrong.
"Those that have no clue about Biafra, said they want a referendum, where did it happened? How can we get this country working should be the question we should ask ourselves.
"How else can we change Nigeria, let the Igbo people get what they deserve and have a sense of belonging in Nigeria? Should we go to war?
"Talking about the referendum, even if United Nations talks about it, it will not hold unless the Nigerian National Assembly agrees with the United Nations, accept the law, amend it and implement it, then there will be a referendum.
Nwodo who frowned at the spate of clash with the IPOB members and the army, said; "standing on the road, clashing with the army/police, is not the best way, rather, knowledge is the best way to get Biafra, Nwodo said.
