Politics › Re: Nigerians - Happiest People In The World by magnetik(m): 11:01pm On Oct 03, 2013 |
bigtt76: Events in recent past has gone on to lend credence to this popular saying that "Nigerians are the happiest in the world. For example.
1. When Abacha died, not many knew that the country was almost a the brink of arnachy save for Major Al Mustapha's purported brilliance in doing the right thing. Nigerians celebrated the death.
2. GEJ increased fuel price on New Year's day, country went on strike ..Occupy Nigeria it was named after the famous Occupy Walls Street. However unlike the Walls Street version, ours became a carnival. All musically dead musicians became activists churning out songs to the admiration of the supposedly suffering masses. What happened thereafter could only be imagined.
3. Boko Haram menace came up and immediately it became the norm to call any Hausa man ..muslim or not Boko Harama even though they the hausas and muslims had a fair share I the rampage.
4. During the floods when families and everyone were crying for the lost and damaged property, some folks right in the middle of the floods setup a drinking spot and took photographs which went viral.
5. GEJ though celebrated as the first President from the Niger Delta, became the most insulted in history. Names and phrases such as 'retardeen', 'president without shoes' etc became the norm.
6. Cutting long story short, the sad plane crash incident in Lagos this morning bearing the corpse of former Aviation Minister and former state governor of Ondo suddenly brought up memories of Fela through his song 'Confusion Break Bone' with the popular chorus ....'deadi bodi getti accident ...yeeeeepa, double wahala for deadi bodi and the owner of deadi bodi' which seem in place as the the family members (owners of deadi bodi) were involved.
While not supporting these show of insensitivity, I wonder out aloud 'what do we do in such situation'? Cry or jubilate that God is punishing our causes of failure?
A former Aviation Minister who during his time would have made impact by flushing out these dead airlines but did nothing, never thought of setting up a world class medical facility back home during tenure as governor? He died few hours returning from medical check up overseas, burial now a cause of pain to many.
Sympathy to the deads' family and speedy recovery to the injured survivor ...lets show sympathy too NL No.6 as I saw in its original post was really cracking.. |

Business › Re: Shoprite To Open Another Store In Ibadan by magnetik(m): 9:43am On Sep 29, 2013 |
chaircover: I was in Shoprite 2 days ago and it was virtually empty and there were def more staff than shoppers and I had a choice of which check out to use. We found a parking slot almost opposite the entrance and I am almost convinced that it is not as well stocked as the Lagos branches.
I understand that there is another one being built along ring road, but that has been under Construction for a while so maybe it makes sense for them to complete it, rather than just abandon it especially as the location is a very good one.
Not all branches of the same business make money, and some branches subsidize others, but they keep the biz open to keep the brand name alive and to make it look as if the brand is doing very well which in turn entices customers as we all like to be associated with successful brands.
Nevertheless, their meatpie is the best in Ibadan May be you went there at the quiet time.. see I have been to many malls even in Europe. .there are times in every day when its peak and sometimes quiet, that is, low patronage at a particular time in a day or days in a week. With d population of Ibadan I don't think shoprite will get it wrong. Even the one in Ilorin as small as the city is compared to Ibadan never heard of any complain about it since operation. |

Sincere 9gerian: The police authorities are not fools. No one is above the law. If Gov Amaechi engages in acts that infringes on the laws, it is the constitutional responsibility of the police to call the governor to order. No sentiments. However, if the police acted unlawfully in this instance, then the president should sanction whoever was responsible. Fella not to the point of denying him access to the government house though. |

Politics › Re: Anambra Guber Polls: Say No To Lagos District Officer, Ngige by magnetik(m): 8:47am On Aug 30, 2013 |
You are more like a sincere PDP member not in anyway a sincere Nigerian Sincere 9gerian: The gubernatorial candidate of APC, Dr Chris Ngige, has shown through his response to the recent satanic deportation of Nigerians in their fatherland, that he does not have a mind of his own. Chris Ngige was expected to rise above the Lagos godfathers, show that he has a mind of his own and condemn the evil deportation.
Unfortunately, he failed the acid test. Ngige joined his masters in Lagos to justify the deportation.
Chris Ngige and his masters in Lagos neither showed remorse nor apologised for that unfortunate incident. As big as South Africa is, the people and govt of South Africa apologised to Nigerians and Nigeria last year for repatriation of some Nigerians following the yellow card saga. But Ngigi and his masters in Lagos, full of arrogance and disdain for the poor, would have none of that.
As powerful as the president is, PDP members at various levels still disagree with some of his statements and policies without fear or favour.
In the light of this, Chris Nwabueze Ngige, has shown that he does not have a mind of his own. He has shown that if elected governor of Anambra State, he will be a Lagos district officier who takes orders from Lagos.
Therefore, Ndi Anambra will reject any attempt to make Anambra a district of Lagos. The gubernatorial ambition of Chris Ngige is therefore DEAD ON ARRIVAL |
