What defeat? It's no competition. If it was the truth no one would have qualms accepting.

This here however is the truth. This is the reality of many Nigerians. They are worse off than they were in 2009. EveRything has become hard. And Nigeria is far less competitive.
Have you forgotten the global economic melt down of 2009? It affected this country as well. Nigeria's not an Island.

bros ,forget nothing go happen. This is nigeria politics and it is always the same sequence.since 1960 it has always been the same event when elections are coming ,there will be threats of violence and etc . And this is because our politicians play the game with tribal and religion cards. Most likely u live in one of the apc controlled northern states.that is why u feel threatened , what about other northern states ?nigeria is made up of 36 states and not just 12 states. Definitely there will be some reactions or skirmishes here and there but nothing will happen. If any state gov tries any rubbish believe me the army will move into the streets and I know that security will be very very tight in all northern states ,anybody that tries any rubbish will find himself in the military guard room as a boko haram suspect. There is no way buhari can win,I keep telling ppl that even tinubu and amaechi knows this very well. Once pdp govs start serious campaigns in all northern states u will start seeing pdp posters and flags everywhere. NOBODY HOLDS THE MONOPOLY OF VIOLENCE. If elections are disrupted and cancelled it is all to gej advantage . Most northern politicians know this. The main reason why boko haram attack was so rampant then was to make gej lose the pdp ticket, because they know that whoever clinches that ticket will be the next president ,but he got the ticket in a fashion they never expected.
Totally agree with you.

I see no reason why a good principled guy like you want to get involved in relationships. Sometimes they get you nowhere.
I suggest you suspend going into any form of relationship now and focus on something worthwhile. Engage yourself in meaningful ventures like self and career development. Make an impact in your society. Nigeria need good guys like you to make a difference.

PoliticsRe: The Worst Civilian Rule Is Better Than The Best Military Dictatorship by major466(m):
Years of military rule has damaged the psychie of many Nigerians. This damage is deeply rooted in their mentality to the point where to them, the major characteristic of a strong leader is the show of force. Nigerians have no idea what it means to govern through democractic norms and values. To them, Buhari and Obasanjo are strong leaders because they govern with brute force. Fortunately, brute force and one man rule does not exist within the confines of democracy.
Goodluck Jonathan is the best Leader in Nigeria's history to govern democratically, by STRICT observance of the CONSTITUTION and the RULE of LAW. It is because of these ideals and adherence to democratic principles that those (Mis inform individuals) grossly ignorant of Democractic governance tagged him (GEJ) weak.
Goodluck Jonathan is a true Nigerian democrat.

There was no visible parallel market pre Buhari era apart from 1980 due to the global recession of 1980. The market picked up afterwards. It was during Buhari's regime that Parallel Market/Black Market became constant. GEJ is still trying to fix the black market mess Buhari created in 1984. Comprende?

How do you diversify when you squander revenues in period of high prices and now start firefighting in a low price regime? The only basis to attack Buhari was if his government saw a boom and a bust but he came into power in time of a bust and he steered Nigeria right. This conclusion can be gleaned from what happened to Nigeria's economy after he was overthrown.
At the bolded, Now you see why the current structure of Nigeria were economic activities and revenue sharing is centralized, the root cause of our underdevelopment. Nigeria can never progress with this structure. The only way out is True Federalism. That's why Nigerians at all levels must press on the National Assembly to pass the National Confab report bill.

Don't just come here and give us manufactured numbers. Show us prove showing the naira depreciated by 107% between 1983 and 1985. You cannot just manufacture number out of thin air. What was the exchange rate under Shagari administration? Don't just come here with half baked information and want people to believe your garbage economic data.

I am waiting for the data....
The value of the naira by the time Buhari took over power was N0.724 to the dollar.
When Buhari was sent parking, the value of the naira to the dollar stood at about N1.5
To calculate the percentage depreciation of the value of the naira from 1983 - 1985, we have:
We subtract 0.724 from 1.5, this will give us 0.776
N1.5 - N0.724 = 0.776
Divide 0.776 with the initial value of the naira in 1983 which is 0.724, we have 0.776/0.724 =1.071
To find the percentage, we multiple 1.071 by 100%
1.071*100 = 107
Therefore the percentage loss in value of the naira from 1983 to 1985 was 107%

It is high time we stopped supporting the Naira falsely with our foreign reserve and let the currency find it feet in the waters
Exactly. The value of the naira had always been artificially supported by crude oil prices. That has always been the case since 1970s.
The way forward is for government to increase its diversification drive and allow market forces determine the true value of the naira. Its better to have a strong economy and a weak naira than have a weak economy with a strong naira supported by the nation's reserve.
