Pipsland78: Where in the US are u headed? I"m headed to Texas in March and wondering if we cld rent a flat and split the bills - at least till one gets a good job and settles down. All the two-bedroom apartments I'm seeing are a little too expensive for me to bear the cost alone.I am headed to Houston, Texas. Someone got a studio apartment for $600 for me and is willing to help with arrangements for it but am still exploring some other options cos its on the high side. The 2 bedroom will be a good one if we the bill can be split. The snag however is that the guy helping me is too busy to scout around for me. The studio apartment he found is within the same apartment block he lives in. will keep you posted. My facebook name is Ochi Ogewu David Malcolm I. lets connect. |

Dear Forumites, I came across a well annotated USCIS Greencard payment protocol and thought it would be an invaluable resource on this forum for those who would want to proceed to making the payment after visa issuance. Please find it attached here. |
Hi People, My Family's visa package has been pick by my Mother-in-Law! The package is enroute to Abuja via DHL now. Thanks guys for the support. Keep u all posted. |

Having a challenge with my Visa Package. My mother-in-law has gone to pick the package on our behalf twice (last thursday and today) and she's still being told the package hasnt been sent to the DHL center. All calls to the number they provided are not going through. I have tried the status check provided above but it gives me "invalid case number" after using my case number. I have done a mail to lagosIV@state.gov to complain/enquire. Any ideas will help cause I don't know what the problem is as other people interviewed on same day with me have collected their package. |
Congratulations to @okeyman and @adeadebayor. Everyday I wake up I look forward to great news on this forum. God has been indeed gracious to us. Wishing @seubis safe travels to the US today. For all others going for interview this week, God's mercy and favor will work for U. One love! |

adeadebayor: congrat bro i tap into ur anointing. are u d one we did medical on same day in whichh ur son beàr David. pls i want to if beneficiary is asked to submit credenials.Yes we are the ones. The beneficiaries credentials were not demanded at the embassy, only the principal applicant. Cheers |
Doublegold: Evening house, pls, a frnd of mine that won DV2013 said, there is no medical report we are to make photocopies of. He said the hospital will only give to us an x-ray jacket and a sealed envelop which is not meant to be opened until d interview day. Though, he did say that the hospital shall also give us our own copy of the report, which is to be kept by us and not to be taken to embassy for interview. Pls, cud this be true that we are are not making duplicates of medical reeport? This is correct. The med report is not to be opened before you get to the embassy. You only open it at the embassy. However, they will give you a one sheet report stating the vaccines you have taken. You are advised to keep this one for yourself, Infact the guy at the hospital said we should photocopy many copies of that and keep for our use in the US. |
ayodim: @Malcom28. That blue tag given to us @ d security Check, wats is meant for? How many were u given?did u return them to the C0?Realllly dont know what it is meant for, but am sure it means something cos they asked for and collected them when I was submitting documents. I was given 4 (2 long ones and 2 small ones maybe because we were 2 adults and 2 children) |
adeadebayor: congrat bro i tap into ur anointing. are u d one we did medical on same day in whichh ur son beàr David. pls i want to if beneficiary is asked to submit credenials. In my case they didn't ask for the credentials of my wife, they only asked for birth certificate, police report and medicals. No academic or work credentials were demanded. |
bukiemma: Good day Fam! My interview is in three days and I want 2 direct my question to those dat has gone for their interview. Pls how many copies of passport photographs is needed?? From the ones I used for my medicals and police report, i stil have 3-copies left and I want to know if 3copies will do or if I'd need to snap another. Thanks a lot!The three copies of the passport photos should do. For me, they collected only one passport each for my family members. Its also advisable to go along 2 photocopies of ur credentials, they only took a copy each from us, only marriage certificate was two copies taken. Wish U and all others going for interview next week God's favor. The visa is yours already. Go and get it! |
Good day Forumites, please permit me to give a detailed account of my experience at the embassy during my interview on 3rd December. Been very busy on some other issues that why its coming a bit late. We left the place we were staying at Anthony Village at 4:30 am to avoid the morning traffic to the Island. We actually got up at 3:00am to get the kids ready. Arrived the embassy at about 4:55am. There were like 5 other persons waiting. My Mother-In-Law drove us there so she had to look for a place to park and was directed to a parking lot that can be accessed by car only through Obalende (but open to the embassy by foot, so people can park there and have close proximity to the embassy surrounding). While waiting, around 5:30 my wife and mother-in-law retreated to the car to feed the children again so they don't get cranky when the process begins. We were called to move out and join the queue for screening at 6am. After the 1st screening where they make sure you don't have phones on you, etc, We were made to all pile around the 2nd point where a lady came to address us stating the 2 broad visa categories and how the process will run. We were at this point separated into Immigrant and Non-Immigrant categories. She also talked about timing of our interview etc. We were then told to bring our interview notification letters and open our medicals at this point and fix in our passports which we all did. There were repeated warning about what must not be found on us. My wife explained to them about items for the kids but they would not bulge. They insisted that we can only take in biscuit for the kids. My wife had to go out of the time 2 times to return items to my Mother-In-Law who was waiting in her car at the parking lot. We eventually went through the 2nd Screening were the bags and everything was thoroughly checked. We were then issued blue slips, a small form to fill in your name and address, email and telephone #, we were also given a sheet payment (Please ensure you keep every sheet given to you so as not to have issues when they are demanded). We went through a 3rd screening again after which we were ushered into the main embassy building. We were asked to remove our belt, shoes and our bags were again screened at this point before we were allowed into the interview hall after picking a slip that gave us our number for the day (B415). On getting into the hall, the security man asked what Visa category we were for, and told us where to sit and where we would make the payments, Immediately my family found a place to sit, I proceeded and made payments (N218,000) for 4 of us (at rate of 165/$). Immediately I was done paying the fees, my number blinked in window 14. I was asked to come for submission of documents. That lasted for about 5 minutes, the guy would asked for one document after the other, I would produce them and give him, he would ask for duplicates I would give him, friendly black guy. After that process, I went back to sit. My daughter was all over the place, walking and playing. my wife held my Son do there wasn't any issues. Many Children were crying, tried to help one Women whose Son was crying profusely but to no avail. For a while there wasn't any activity at the windows, (they were probably reviewing the documents we submitted). At about 8:30, the interview process began at window 14 where an old woman was interviewed and placed on administrative processing because she couldn't provide some details to the CO even with the help of a Yoruba interviewer. I thought I was gonna be interviewed at this window since my documents were collected here. The man at Window 16 was also there and interviewed a pregnant lady who I think filled to go an unit with her husband. It took a while for the process to be over and I could remember the scare of window 16 and was wishing that my interview did not take place there. Shortly after the lady left, my number appeared at window 16 and my wife called my attention to it. Went there with my whole family, my daughter was sleeping at this time so I had to pick here while clutching the documents too. The process process went thus: CO: Are to XYZ (pointing to each of us) We: Yes CO: Asked me to raise my hand a swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth Me: I did CO: Asked to take our finger prints (me and wife) We: We did (left hand, right hand (4 fingers) and then both thumb CO: Gave us our forms to sign (asked that one of us sign for the children on yellow marking) We: Did that CO: Asked when we got married We: Both me and wife responded in unison CO: Asked me have I been married before this marriage Me: No CO: Any Children apart from this 2 Me: No Co: whats your highest qualification? Me: 2 Masters Degree CO: I can see the MBA is the most recent. When did conclude the course Me: Told him when I completed the program and submitted project CO: Tell me about you project Me: Told him about the project and the major findings CO: He was nodding and smiling and very happy with my analysis of the project and the findings CO: Brought out 2 sheets and tells us this is where you will be collecting your visa on Tuesday next week. Tells me to not bother coming with my family to collect the visa. Also suggested I nominate someone to pick up the Visas for me since I don't live in Lagos. Then said congratulations. Me: Was kinda taken aback! Thanks him and leaves As we were about to exit, I heard my name. Turned around to window 16 and the CO motioned to me Went back. CO: Please can I have the receipts of visa fees payment? Me. Reached into my pocket and gave him the receipts. He collects one and gives me the other Me: I tell him I almost forgot to update my details on the place of residence when I enter the US. I then hand him a sheet of paper containing the address. He promises to update the info for me. The whole interview process lasted for about 3 minutes. We then walked out of the embassy. It can only be God! The process was swift just like I had prayed to God it would be. And the fact that it was window 16! The dreaded window 16? God works in awesome ways. For those waiting for their interview or awaiting 2NL, God will do it. Congrats to the forumites who were in the same venue with me that morning. We were the family of 4 I was wearing a brown trouser, with and blue stripped short and a navy blue blazer jacket, my daughter was wearing a red trouser while my wife wore a black suit. We were the ones echoing peoples numbers when they are called, Remember? Thanks so much to everyone here who prayed with us, I understand so many people were praying for us. @Obatide and Glory2Glory, God bless you specially, you were there. Thanks everyone. We will continue to keep in touch and we will all see in the US. |
Hi Forumites, I just came out of the embassy. My family's visa has been approved. Thanks everyone for the show of support. I will give a detailed account of my experience later. Gracias!!! |
Justme2003: On the contrary, they actually allowed me in with my baby food after a thorough check, I had the hot water flask, milk and the feeding bottle. They only need to be sure that you have a baby you need to feed but certainly not drinks or snacks as we made the kids took their food in the car as soon as we got there. Thanks so much guys. All your suggestions are noted. Thanks again. G2Glory: .Thanks so much guys. All your suggestions are noted. Thanks again. |
Hello Forumites, those of you who have gone for interview with kids, where you allowed into the embassy with baby foods, drinks etc? Asking cos its a concern for me as my kids may begin to act up in hunger if I cannot take baby food and drinks in for them. Urgent reply needed please. |
Medicals and Police Clearance certificate done, waiting for my interview on tuesday 3rd December. I'd like to share my experience at the Medicals (Consultant Practice) cos it might help someone. Got there around 10:20am after going through a bit of traffic. Was given a Zenith Bank Teller to go pay the total sum of 38k which is the consultation fees (12,000 each for 2 adults and 7,000 each for 2 children). Having done that at a Zenith Bank just 5 minutes walk from the Hospital, returned to the Hospital where I filled out some consent forms for each member of my family. I was then queued to see the nurse. The nurse took the weight and height for all of us, drew blood samples from my wife and I and then injected my 3 year old daughter with something that they will watch and read after 48 hours to see if she has been exposed to TB. My 1 year old Son wasn't given that injections cos they said he is still covered against TB by his current immunization. I and my spouse thereafter took turns going to take x-ray. After that we went upstairs to see a doctor in a consulting room who will determine what vaccines we will take. We waited for quite sometime as the process became very slow at this point. Eventually we were attended to. The Doc was very friendly so the session was cool. He took our BP after asking a few questions about our medical history. He said that he needs to take our BP before telling us about the vaccines so that our BP won't rise (lol). He asked for our children's vaccination records which we had handy, he looked through them and highlighted areas of interest to him. He commended us saying he hadn't seen such a comprehensive record of immunization for children in a long time. He then made his recommendation for the vaccines we are to take and calculated the amount on the sheet of paper (I didn't copy them cos I thought we will leave with the sheets later). The bill was as follows: me and my spouse 18k each, my Son 22,500, my daughter 25,000. Total for all (Vaccines+consultation) was 117,500. Please for those with Children who have vaccination records, please go with 2 photocopies for the hospital. I had to go out a make copies somewhere before leaving. Also, go with your Int'l passport, the photocopies and 2 identical passport photographs. Be ready to spend sometime there cos there can be traffic there as the hospital also does medicals for Canadian Visas. We went back 2 days after for reading of the TB stuff they injected my daughter and I alone waited to collect the medicals at 4pm which is the time they release results. I also did police report on the day I collected the medicals. The process took about 2 hours in all. Cost me 5k each as the police people refused to reduce the money even with the Presence of my mother-in-law who is a retired officer. All is now set for the interview on Tuesday. House believe God with us for a swift, clean, easy interview. The horse is made ready for the battle but victory belongs to the Lord. Thanks for all your support especially my good friend I met on this forum @Obatide. God will perfect all that concerns us all. |
In addition to the replies above, She should use her current (married) surname but put a Nee x x x in bracket after the names to show the maiden name. That's what I did for my spouse to remove any confusion. The NPC people in Abuja suggested that. Hope that helps. Obatide: If you get married Legally, all documents after marriage will bear her new Surname. In addition to the replies above, She should use her current (married) surname but put a Nee x x x in bracket after the names to show the maiden name. Good day Forumites. Hope you all had a great weekend. I and my family flew into Lagos with the 1st Flight to begin the countdown to our interview next week tuesday. Pretty much everything is in place except medicals and Police Report. Will be going for medicals tomorrow morning at The Consultants Practice (Children's Practice in Ikoyi and then Alagbon for Police report. Any new ideas will be welcome. Wish everyone the best as we all pray to get our visas approved. |
This is saying a big congratulations to all those whose visas were approved this week. We join you in celebrating this as it is only the Lord that could have done this. To all of awaiting 2NL and interviews, we are gonna have our time to share testimonies as well. |
