Computers / Re: Tips For Staying Safe Online by Maleeq(m): 5:53pm On Feb 01, 2013
Nice one!

Just some more I could think of now:

- Keep your primary email address private: don't sign up on forums/social networks with it. Get a free email account from the numerous providers
- Don't give out information simply because it is requested: No matter how comfortable a "stranger" may be or sound, be wary what information requests you respond to. Social Engineering is a unique and almost omnipotent hacking technique.
- Don't allow others to draw you into conflict: Its safer to ignore personal attacks. Respond in like tone gives the attacker the pleasure that he/she has succeeded in getting to you. Ignore and they'll pass you over to easier preys.
- Lurk in a new forum/social network to learn local customs: If you are in group/group chat/discussion board, watch quietly for a while to know what's really up before you engage in topics you wish to. And oh, don't respond to private chats request immediately...stalkers abound especially if you have a sexy username!
- Watch what you "say" online: words hurt...deep atimes. Cases have occurred in the past where some people resolve to suicide after being attacked by others. Type what you can say to someone's face (politely)
- Watch the pictures you uploads: You don't want an online stalker to gain knowledge of your true self!
- Check the Website Address Carefully: Phising sites exists that look like (or even better) than the original website. Check the address pane of the browser and look critically at the address. http://glbank.com isn't http://gtbank.com. A slight over-look and you miss it.

Computers / Re: I'm Having A Problem Signing In To My Yahoo Mail Account On My Laptop, help Plz by Maleeq(m): 12:32pm On Jan 28, 2013
Those having access issues should state how they are connecting to the internet. This error isn't exactly new and its peculiar to folks that access the internet via some proxy (VPN) settings.
Computers / Re: Help: Downloading Gmail Attachment! by Maleeq(m): 12:21pm On Jan 28, 2013
If the mail indeed has an attachment, you will see a paper clip icon next the the message header/subject in your box.
Open the mail, and scroll all the way down to the bottom. The attachment(s) would be listed there, each with a "Download" link for individual downloads, or a "Download All" if the mail has more than one attachment.

If this information isn't sufficient for you, I could upload screenshots for you.

Computers / Re: Advice On AMD Processor Needed!!! by Maleeq(m): 6:20pm On Jan 24, 2013
henryskywalker2003:

Hmmm.... I wish you can be more explicit about why you say you won't use them anymore.

Anyways, @OP. I've used 3 laptops and a desktop powered by AMD processors and my current HP laptop uses E2 dual core with ATI graphics. They do have their strenghts and weaknesses. Am yet to see any truth in the myth of AMD processors being hot all the time. Sure when u use a system, it gets warm but not Hot like I hear ppl say. At least, in my case, I use my laptop to do intensive stuffs like games and network simulations and it handles it quite well. I've played PES 2012, DMC4, Fable, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on it comfortably. The A10 is a very nice processor that handles as well as an intel quad core.
Thanks henryskywalker2003. I have used AMD based products and never experienced the, somewhat false, heating problem. A buddy of mine has been using his AMD based HP pavillon laptop since 2007 without it blowing up.
I still maintain a view that a laptop is only as good as its user/owner. Its like seeing one Kia vehicle in an accident and concluding all Kia vehicles are accident prone!

Computers / Re: Non-tested Laptops by Maleeq(m): 11:32am On Jan 21, 2013
I have heard about "untested" products being sold at computer village at ridiculous prices. But ask yourself these:

1. Are these products really working?
2. What if they are fakes/or empty (casing only) products i buy?
3. There is a no refund, no testing policy...what if I am scammed?
4. Perhaps they are genuine BUT blown laptops being sold to me?
Computers / Re: I Need A Good Offline LAN Chat Application by Maleeq(m): 10:58am On Jan 21, 2013
clarify what you mean by "offline chat application". Are you referring to a chat app you can run for users on a local network?
