Family / Re: Should My Girlfriend Go And Collect Her Things From Her Ex by malikombi(m): 2:29pm On Aug 18, 2022
I had a similar experience. While running my msc, there was this brilliant undergraduate girl who usually seek academic advice from me. She told me she break up from her violent bf and they are partially living couple's life. (Her things are there with him). At some point, he keeps threatening her to come and get her things or else he would destroy them. She showed me several text message and Whatsapp chats that span across several weeks.
One day I told her, let's go get your things.
Call him now.
I knew a district chairman of okada riders. I told him to arranged three fierceful looking (but gentle Sha not actually thugs) of his men for me and I only gave them 500 each (which she later returned) and a bottle of big Chelsea dry gin (they are very happy).
We accompanied the girl to the entrance of the house (making sure the guy sees us) and she packed all her things within three minutes without him (bf) uttering a single word.
The whole operation took less than 15 minutes and everyone is happy.
Since then, the guy wouldn't dare contact her again.

Education / Re: ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, Asks Nigerians To Vote Out APC (Video) by malikombi(m): 10:50am On Aug 13, 2022
SafariHunter:
I am obedient but I actually agree with Adamu Garba when he said the ASUU strike has political undertones.
The FG has met their needs to a very large extent, 100% pay rise( excluding state uni which is very understandable as most states haven't even implemented minimum wage).
TET fund has released billions.
Earned allowances have been paid.
UTAS is at final stages of testing...

ASUU doesn't care about us, they have a sole responsibility to students and not telling us to vote out APC which we will already do...

Just NEgedu ASUU matter
Stop misleading the public please.
Which of your claims above can you defend with proof??
If all these items listed above are true, universities would have reopen now.
Report have been submitted for 2009 renegotiation many weeks ago but the FG neither acknowledge nor approved. 100% payrise is just speculation.
Backlog of earned allowance is less than 30b.
Since 2020, it hasn't been paid.
UTAS has always been in final stage of testing for over two years. Despite the 99.1% pass mark it got, government is still brainwashing the public that UTAS failed integrity test. Who is now fooling who.

Finally, we do not have affiliation to any political or religious group.
Wait for him to address the public again for misinterpretation.
Thank you

Islam for Muslims / Re: Industrial Strikes: No Work No Payment Is The Take Of Islam by malikombi(m): 2:36pm On Aug 12, 2022
With respect to ASUU, it's not Haram.
Firstly, it is legal under labour law to embark on industrial action to press your demand. Initially, government claimed they were not formally notified of the strike; hence the stoppage of salary.
Secondly, irrespective of how long the strike is, universities would try as much as possible to run marathon semesters to cover the time lost. A twelve weeks semester would be shortened to eight weeks while the curriculum would be covered. Would the government pay overtime??
NO.
Lastly, I think this topic should not have come up at a time like this. It would give the government more power to oppress the helpless civil servants.
If government decide not to pay the backlog of salaries they owed it's worker due to strike, who is going to challenge them on what they have use the funds for? (Billions of naira)

Crime / Idris Ojo: Gov. Akeredolu Clears The Air On The Arrest Of Owo Attackers by malikombi(m): 4:43pm On Aug 10, 2022
PRESS STATEMENT

Akeredolu Clears Air On Arrest Of Kuje Prison Escapee, Idris Ojo

The attention of Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has been drawn to the announcement of Idris Ojo as one of the attackers of St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, arrested by the security agencies.

Governor Akeredolu acknowledged the confusion the statement has created in the public space, considering that the ugly event of June 5 attack in Owo preceded the unfortunate incident on Kuje prison.

The Governor said there was a mix up in the announcement by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor.

Governor Akeredolu explained that Idris Ojo, who is number 14 on the wanted list of Kuje Prison Escapees was arrested in his brother’s house in Akure.

“The announcement of the arrest of Idris Ojo as one of the perpetrators of the June 5 attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo was a mix up from the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor.

“Idris Ojo, who is number 14 on the wanted list of the Kuje Prison Escapees was arrested in his brother’s house in Akure. His brother, Jimoh Rasheed Ibrahim, received and accommodated him after his escape from Kuje prison.

“He was thereafter moved and kept in the custody of the security operatives at the same time the attackers of Owo Catholic Church were arrested and brought into custody. Hence, the mix up.” The Governor said.

Governor Akeredolu urged members of the public to remain vigilant and give necessary supports to the security agencies in the State.

I wonder how this kind of topic made FP. Someone pour out his frustration due to his personal relationship with his lecturer and then GBAM!! FP!!!
The worst part is saying they should ensure all their students graduate. Haha!!
Anyways, no one has the right to fail you as a student and if you feel you're cheated in any way or the other, there are avenue to get justice. It's better you call out your Prof who failed or get you kicked out of the university because since my undergraduate days up till PhD, I've never meet or heard any Prof who has this bragging right you're talking about and I obtain these degrees from different universities.

There will always be strike as long as FG will not do the needful.
A very big strike is on the horizon, if Atiku becomes the President of Nigeria: that strike will be the mother of all strikes!
For this very strike, then end is very near! The ASUU branches have started meeting, and that can only mean one thing, a deal has been reached cool
If this month ends and ASUU members received salary, whether one month or more, whether through UTAS or not, just know that time to look for your books has reached smiley
I'm very sure that it's either you're a lecturer or very close to one. Your comments on ASUU matters is always very correct and on point. Thumb up

Dr. the aim is to keep moving forward. I don't just want you to be bothered or troubled. Just take it easy, the major thing in PhD is not how fast but how well. After the PhD, what's your contribution to knowledge? That's all that matters. So, growth is a gradual process, I believe in you and I know you'll get there. It's not everyone that can summon the courage to solicit for assistance in a public forum like this. One day your passion for academics will pay you well, so, till then don't forget to share your testimonies with us when it happens. For now I will advise that you focus on publishing while you wait for your PhD to mature. Try free journals mostly Scopus indexed, Tailor and Francis, WoS, Wiley etc.

Stay blessed Dr
Thank you. I'm highly motivated

According to the uncertainty principle, you cannot measure position and momentum with same precision; it's either precision in position increases while that of momentum decreases. So, you should've understood earlier that getting married and pursing a PG is very difficult, I even wonder how you guys do it; possibly you've kids too. I got my PhD at 30 not long ago, I know how stressful and financially demanding it was, talk of someone who is married with kids. My major concern is, as a married man, no matter how much people give to you, your family comes first. So, you have to take care of your wife and kids before considering the PhD self.

My point: Be rest assured that your PhD will delay based on fund and time. So, don't bother yourself much about leaving school early rather focus on taking it one step at a time so you don't get depressed and possibly suffer from high blood pressure (your wife don't wanna be a widow neither do your kids wanna be orphans). And during the PhD acquire some sellable skills that can provide for you outside lecturing. You can as a matter of urgency explore and exploit your university for opportunities.

My Observations: During my PhD journey, most of the married ones amongst us did their PhD in more than 10 years, I guess family comes with its own wahala. So, some will drop out of PhD, comeback and continue from where they stopped, some even start afresh.

Your Testimony: You should be grateful that you at 32 years already have a job, a wife and kids. Me I only have a PhD, no job, no wife, no child yet.

Summary: God will provide. You're not in competition with anyone. You're blessed already, let your family be your major consolation. PhD will come and go but your family remains

Congratulations Dr
Thank you Dr for this input. I deeply understand the message but the reason I have to pursue this is because I'm already in the line of trade. You know as a lecturer, you won't move ahead without higher degree and publication.
I will keep pushing. Thank you

What’s the point of taking the program with no guarantee of a good job after completion? If your HOD doesn’t have enough money how do you think you’ll live well by becoming a full staff of the university?

This the thing I keep saying, after bachelors, if you have no guarantee from academia, no need furthering anything. If someone gave you 100k and you aren’t in you PHD, you can start a small dropshipping business or even buy some courses you can learn and monetize, but now you’ll use it to pay fees then when you graduate, you can’t still live large because even HOD is poor.
HOD is not actually poor. He only told me he's servicing a loan and what is left for him is not quite encouraging

Be patient, school will soon reopen. Just submitted an application to one school close to me. I'm going through the same rough patches like. Do you attend union Congress. It's by attending such congresses that you know if there’s coping strategy. It's well my bro. God definitely will make way for you. You can as well organise lessons for students or place advert with your number on it. Hopefully, you might find a family that wants you to tutor their kids. Gracia.
Thank you bro. I really appreciate your kind words and advice

Begging won't do anything for you my friend... If anybody help you pay your tuition fees today how about next semester? Or do you pay per session?

Try and safe yourself the stress of ridiculing your self esteem through begging online...

Think about what you can do to stay afloat... You can take up driving uber or okada to salvage ur present situation.

Swallow ur pride and do something about your career.

Get multiple stream of income.. You can organise tutorial centre in your location, stop planing with your salary or you would be left frustrated.
Goodluck
Thank you for your advice. I've actually done everything humanly possible to have streams of income but it's not yielding.
I just have to start first as I'm eligible to get some money from my school to assist the program but it would only come after about a year.
I'm not a car owner and can't do Uber. Besides, all those online transport business is not in place here. I've visited more than 20 private school here to work as an associate staff but everyone of them seems managing.
I'm very young, agile and hardworking. If you have any extra job or ideas that can fetch me money, I'll surely do. It's not my joy to do this here. I have to swallow my pride

I'm presently 32 years old and was employed in one of the public universities in northern Nigeria. I started in late 2018.
I had a challenge that made me collect a loan with unity bank last year and I'm still paying them gradually.
Salaries was suspended due to ASUU strike and this made life so difficult and even hard to feed. My PhD admission in lautech is in Jeopardy. I believe so much in this forum and I knew I could get help if I cry out. I needed help to keep my family afloat and also pursue this PhD program while this ASUU struggle lasted.
I have always been good to my students and I hope and pray I get financial assistance here.
I had to borrow from migo to pay for this PhD form with the hope that salary will come but unfortunately, it hasn't.
Any/every evidence to support my claim is available on request. Thank you.

Omo, in jigawa, we still dey pay #50 for premier league matches. Ironically, I've watched more matches free than I've paid. I don't know whether someone is paying for me or the guy doesn't know how to deal with crowd.
However, where I once lived in Enugu (Ohafia), you hardly find viewing centers. Just enter any bar showing your preferred match and buy yourself something. That's all

I read such stories because it sound more like a Nollywood script.
There's always a point where they mess up and make us conclude the story ain't true after all.
How can you date someone for almost 2 years since 2016 and now crying over it 2022??

Anyways, the girl ain't straightforward.
I had a similar experience in which a girl I was dating got pregnant for another guy in her area. She claimed she was raped as a result of alcohol during their street carnival.
She cried her heart out and I had no choice than to forgive her. Her family insist she wouldn't abort the baby and wouldn't get married to the man because of his antecedent bla bla bla Sha. We continued dating even after she gave birth only for me to find out later that the man is still having sex with her. I further learnt the man is the one bankrolling her fairly lavish lifestyle and has been his side chick for years.
I bumped into the girl December last year and she wasn't what she used to be.
Very sad!!
