Post 43--The reason that God is jealous is because he wants people to choose to love him.

Wordcat--The reason that Akpan is jealous is because he wants Ekeate to choose to love him But Ekeate choose to love Okon instead.

Now Tell me, what is the difference?
The differences between the words describing human vs. godly jealousy are profound. For example, the jealousy that keeps one out of heaven is defined as "an envious and contentious rivalry, jealousy" ( Thayer's Greek Dictionary).

God does not envy an human being or
anything that any human being
possesses. God has no rivals. The apostle Paul indicates that there is a godly form of jealousy. The main reason why atheists think that God should not be jealous is that, as an English word,
"jealousy" has virtually universal
negative connotations. In the original
languages in which the Bible is written,
Hebrew and Greek, the words translated as "jealousy" in English do not always have negative connotations. In fact, the Greek word often translated "jealous" is ZÉLOUS, from which we get the English word "ZEALOUS," referring more to zeal and ardor rather than jealousy.

And what's the 'clear picture'?
the Hebrew word qanna is an adjective and it only used for God, the context in which this word(qanna) is being used is about idols worship.

The Hebrew word used to described the jealousy of man is qana ,refers to a
passionate jealousy or envy. Qanna is not used to described envy jealousy but qana is.

The reason that God is "jealous" is because He wants people to choose to love Him. Jesus said that the most important commandment was to love God. God does not want us to waste out time worshipping pretend gods that do not exist.

I will not waste my time in arguing with you guys, you don't believe in God,why do you guys want to understand the feeling of God ? Have watch the movie "God is not dead?" the op atheism sound like the professor in the movie. Thank you for your time.

Why should God be Jealous if I worship another God, is he no longer Omniscient?

Is he not suppose to knw from beginning that I will worship another God?

What's the essence of giving me instruction since he already know what I will choose even before I was born?

Is he normal or just want to punish me for his lapses?
human jealousy and God jealousy is different, jealousy is determined in the context of each verse.

God's "jealousy" is primarily restricted to a jealousy over the worship of idols that competes with His love to
prevent a dedicated relationship with
Him, jealousy between people takes on
quite a number of forms. Two different
Hebrew words are used to describe
human jealousy. The Hebrew verb
qânâ' (Strong's H7065) refers to a
passionate jealousy or envy. The
Hebrew noun qin'âh (Strong's H7068)
takes on a wide range of meanings from
sexual passion (or jealousy) to a zeal for
God to anger or envy. The exact
meaning (and the English translation is
usually determined from the context.

Honestly the op got it all wrong, but I don't blame Him, the question is a fair one.

Many times in the bible we read the statement,
"... For I, your God, am A Jealous God.."

The universal definition of Jealousy is thus:

A negative feeling of resentment, anxiety, inadequacy, insecurity againsts a another or rival who appears to enjoy greater advantage or success.

So, againSt whom was the omni omni creator of the universe feeling resentment and insecure?
huh
The doctrine that God is a jealous God comes from the Old Testament books of the law of Moses. The "jealousy" is always in the context of idol worship, beginning in the Ten Commandments of Exodus 20.

"You shall not worship them or serve
them; for I, the LORD your God, am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers on the children, on the third
and the fourth generations of those
who hate Me, ( Exodus 20:5)
for you shall not worship any other god,
for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is
a jealous God-- ( Exodus 34:14)
"For the LORD your God is a consuming
fire, a jealous God. ( Deuteronomy 4:24)
'You shall not worship them or serve
them; for I, the LORD your God, am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers on the children, and on the
third and the fourth generations of
those who hate Me, ( Deuteronomy 5:9)
for the LORD your God in the midst of
you is a jealous God; otherwise the
anger of the LORD your God will be
kindled against you, and He will wipe
you off, the face of the earth.
( Deuteronomy 6:15)

What these five verses have in common
is that they all share the same Hebrew
adjective, qannâ' (Strong's H7067),
translated with the English word
"jealous." The interesting thing about this word is that it is only used in reference to God. In no instance is the word qannâ' used to describe HUMAN jealousy. The reason that God is "jealous" is because He wants people to choose to love Him.

Jesus said that the most important
commandment was to love God. God
does not want us to waste out time
worshipping pretend gods that do not
exist.God created you and He loved you fatherly love,he will be jealous for you if you worship other gods

What exactly is going on in your mind.
The bible, the supposed inspired words of god, condones slavery and r.ap.e. , whether through song, poetry or injunction is irrelevant.
The bible supports all forms of slavery, including fathers selling their daughters.

These are not the opinions of atheists. These are facts written in black and white in the bible.
the bible does not support slavery. slavery First, we must recognize that the Bible does not say God supports slavery. In fact, the slavery described in the Old Testament was quite different from the kind of slavery we think of today - in which people are captured and sold as slaves. According to Old Testament law, anyone caught selling another person into slavery was to be executed:

"He who kidnaps a man, whether he
sells him or he is found in his
possession, shall surely be put to
death." ( Exodus 21:16)

So, obviously, slavery during Old
Testament times was not what we
commonly recognize as slavery, such as
that practiced in the 17th century
Americas, when Africans were captured
and forcibly brought to work on
plantations. Unlike our modern
government welfare programs, there was no safety-net for ancient Middle
Easterners who could not provide a living for themselves. In ancient Israel, people who could not provide for themselves or their families sold them into slavery so they would not die of starvation or exposure. In this way, a person would receive food and housing in exchange for labor.

So, although there are rules about slavery in the Bible, those rules exist to protect the slave. Injuring or killing slaves was punishable - up to death of the offending party. Hebrews were
commanded not to make their
slave work on the Sabbath, slander a
slave, have sex with another man's
slave, or return an escaped slave. A
Hebrew was not to enslave his fellow
countryman, even if he owed him
money, but was to have him work as a
hired worker, and he was to be released
in years or in the year of jubilee (which
occurred every 50 years), whichever
came first. In fact, the slave owner was
encouraged to "pamper his slave"

punishment (torn into small pieces)

intends mercy on whomever He likes
amongst the people of Hell, He will
order the angels to take out of Hell
those who worshipped none but
Him alone. The angels will take
them out by recognizing them from
the traces of prostrations, for Allah
has forbidden the (Hell) fire to eat
away those traces. So they will
come out of the Fire, it will eat
away from the whole of the human
body except the marks of the
prostrations. At that time they will
come out of the Fire as mere
skeletons. The Water of Life will be
poured on them and as a result they
will grow like the seeds growing on
the bank of flowing water…”

Muslims may find the above narration
incredible. Again, this shows the
ignorance of Muslims regarding their
religion. There is no ambiguity in this
Hadith. It clearly states that Muhammad
and his followers are in “Hell.” According
to this Hadith, Muhammad is not in
heaven but in “Hell,” awaiting for the
arrival of the “Day of Judgment” to get
into heaven. And he will be the first to
cross the bridge with his followers to go
to heaven. Please note, this bridge (As-
Sirat) is “laid across Hell” and serves as
an exit to heaven. Since the bridge is
“laid across Hell,” Muhammad has to be
in “Hell” for the Hadith to speak of him
as being among the first to use it to come
out from there.
Christianity Etc › Re: All Religions Lead To God? Can One Discern The True Religion? by malvisguy212(op): 10:03am On Mar 08, 2015
malvisguy212:
Agnostics often fall into two camps - those who believe that all
religions can lead to God or those who believe that true religion cannot
be discerned. This page examines both positions in an attempt to
determine where the truth may lie. Logically, there are several
possibilities. Atheists would say that no religion leads to God, since He
doesn't exist. It is possible that one, several or all religions lead to God.

ALL WAYS LEAD TO GOD:
There are hundreds of religions in the world today, and many ancient
religions that are no longer practiced. It is possible, and perhaps likely,
that all religions contain some truth and/or good moral advice.
However, in examining religious teaching, it is important to examine
the fundamental beliefs of each religion and compare those to each
other. When this is done, it is apparent that primary religious teachings contradict each other. Judaism says that the Messiah is coming,
Christianity says that He has come, and Islam says that Mohammad
provided all the information necessary for religious life. Obviously,
these truth claims cannot be simultaneously true, since they contradict
each other. Logically, we must reject the idea that all religions lead to
God.

TRUE RELIGEON:IS IT POSSIBLE TO DISCERN?
I believe that there are some things that we can discern about God
from the nature of the universe. The universe demonstrates some
remarkable evidence of design. What kind of God designed all this, and how can we know His true identity? Most people who believe God
exists would agree with the argument that the God who designed the
universe must be a personal God. For God to put so much time and care
into the design of the universe and life, it would seem logical to
conclude that God really cared about His creation, and was personally
involved in it's creation. A God who did not care about his creation would never be expected to spend 14 billion years of development
just so that humans would have a nice place to live for a few thousand
years. Therefore, it would seem likely that the true God must be a
personal God, and not the God of deism, pantheism, Buddhism, etc. So,
it would seem that these religions probably do not represent the true
nature of God.
ELIMINATE THE ILLOGICAL:
The powerful and personal Creator God of the universe would probably
want to reveal Himself to His spiritual creatures. So, it seems likely that
God would have revealed His true nature to one or more of the
peoples of the earth. Are all the revelations of the world religions a
reflection of God or just certain one(s)? This is the difficult question that
cannot be answered in merely one short page. However, I believe one can come up with a best answer through much study and through the
process of elimination. For example, some religions make truth claims
that are obviously false. The LDS church (Mormons) claims that gods are created through procreation and that creatures created by those gods can eventually become gods themselves. However, this religion suffers
from the problem of how the first god came into existence. Logic
would dictate that God is eternal and uncreated. All religions that claim
otherwise would seem to be logically flawed.
BASIC RELIGEON CLAIM:
Since many religious claims contradict one another, it would seem that
not all religions could be simultaneously true. How can we tell which
religion(s) are true? If you examine the world religions, most describe
ethical and moral laws that are ascribed to God. Breaking of those laws
is an offense to God. How do different religions handle that problem?
Many religions say that if one tries to obey God's laws most of the time, God will accept you. However, I believe that we can eliminate
that idea as being true of the Creator God of the universe. God designed
physical laws of the universe. These laws are constant and
unbreakable. God Himself, seems to break those physical laws only
rarely. I propose that this God would not accept the breaking of His
moral laws so easily. In fact, from the nature of the physical laws, it would seem that God would not accept the breaking of His moral laws
at all. Nearly all religions claim that God will ignore our breaking of His
moral laws as long as we try our best. This is where Christianity differs
from all other world religions. Christianity says that our good works
cannot erase our bad moral choices. Think of it in terms of our legal
systems. We are convicted of crimes on the basis of breaking the law. If we break a law, we are found guilty under the law. It doesn't matter
what good things we have done in our lives, if we break the law. We
might get a lesser sentence, but we will still be convicted of a crime.
So, God cannot simply ignore our crimes against Him. We will be found
guilty, despite our good works. Christianity says that our bad deeds
(sins) must be eliminated in order to be acceptable to God. The elimination of sins was accomplished by the sacrifice of the Savior
(Jesus Christ). Jesus Christ is God Himself, who came to earth, led a sinless life, and died on the cross as a sacrifice to take the sins of
mankind. So, God Himself provided a means of eliminating our sins
against Him. However, the elimination of sins is not automatic. Since
God will allow people into His presence after death, they must agree to
His terms. This contract is executed through faith in the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ to eliminate our sins. By accepting God's terms, our sins are erased and we can stand in the presence of God without any sin. Only
our good deeds will be counted for our judgment. Those who don't
accept God's terms will be judged on the basis of God's laws - and will
be found guilty.
CHRISTIANITY IS DIFFERENT :
No other religion provides a provision for God's forgiveness of
sin, which is why I believe Christianity to be the only true way
to God. Jesus said He is the only way to God and that all people
must follow Him to enter heaven. All other religions are man's attempt to become acceptable to God. Only Christianity says
that God alone provides the only means to be acceptable to
Him. So, either Christianity is true and all other religions are false or
Christianity is false and God does not hold people accountable for law
breaking. Personally, I would not want to rely upon God ignoring His
own rules. It doesn't seem to be logical reasoning. This is the choice you must make.

CONCLUSION:
So, I encourage you to examine the world religions to see if what I am
saying is true. Don't give up on the ability to separate the truth claims
of the world's religions. If Christianity is true, you must make a choice
or you will be judged on the basis of your sins against God. Let me
know if you have any questions.

And how about Adam?. Wasn't Adam created with the spirit of God?.

"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." Q38:72

Read the above very well. If Jesus is son of God, what is Adam?. You see, this is very simple. Quran says when Allah wishes something (done), He merely says to it Be! And it comes in to being. Simple. Adam had no mother, no father but Jesus had mother, Mary. So why Adam not son of God too?. When man and woman have intercourse, if God doesn't breath His command (spirit) there will be no pregnancy. SIMPLE!

36:82- All He needs to do to carry out any command is say to it, "Be," and it is.

I chose to ignore you cuz u bored me.
ok let comperd the two verse about Jesus and adam;

"When I have fashioned him (in due
proportion) and breathed INTO HIM of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." Q38:72

This quranic verse does NOT say adam is a spirit FROM God,it say God breath into him. and the quran went on to say "breathed" it was this breath that gave life to us.

Here is the verse for Jesus;

Surah 4:171: “The Messiah, Jesus son
of Mary, was (no more than) an
apostle of Allah, and His Wor d, which
He bestowed on Mary, and A SPIRIT
FROM HIM.”

Here it say Jesus is "a spirit from God" Jesus is the only prophet which is adress like this. The quran never Gave the reason for the virgin birth ,when Mary ask "My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me?"the reply of the angel in the quran was " Allah createth what He WILL. If he decreeth a thing, He saith unto it
only: Be! And it is.” in other word, have you forgot how Allah create Adam? That how he will create the child. If you read through the quran the purpose of the virgin birth is not used, everything ended after the unique conception.

It is in the bible we know the reason of the virgin birth;

Luke 1:30-35
.... “How is this to be, since I
am a virgin?” In answer the angel
said to her: “Holy spirit will come
upon you and power of the Most
High will OVERSHADOWED you.
Therefore the child to be born will
be called holy — the Son of God.”

The reason in the bible is crystal clear here, the power of God came upon her and the holy spirit overshadowed her that causes an holy seed to be implanted in her.and if you continuously reading the bible you will find the purpose.

Adam was created without the agency of
a human father or mother because, as
the first man on earth, he could not have had earthly parents. Such an act of
creation was necessary at the beginning
of the world of mankind. Someone had to be created first. But in the case of Jesus, he was born without a human father when God’s natural process of
procreation had long been in existence.
Here we see God interrupting the course of nature, and overriding the very laws of procreation that he had himself established, in order that Christ might thus have a virgin-birth. Why? Surely such an act could not have been without meaning. It points to the profound truth that Jesus Christ held a very special relationship with the One who was the architect of this miraculous conception – a relationship that is shared by no other prophet. The birth of no other prophet has been anything as remotely close as the miraculous conception of Jesus Christ.

To deny that God does anything without
a purpose behind it amounts to a denial
of God himself. ( Surah 38:27) In the
Qur’an, it is the very absence of such a
clearly defined purpose in the unique
conception of Jesus, which perplexes the seeker of truth as to the meaning behind this miraculous birth. Being born of a virgin-woman, Jesus had an exceptional and unique beginning to his life on earth. As he was the only man in all human history to come into the world in this unusual way, we cannot be satisfied with the Qur’an’s summary declaration that it was no more than just an exercise of God’s power.

This all nonsense. Simple question:

Is Jesus son of God?

Is Jesus servant of God

These are NOT identical

Definitions:

son - : a male child

the Son : the second person of the Trinity in the Christian religion : Jesus Christ http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/son

servant - : a person who is hired to do household or personal duties such as cleaning and cooking

: a person who is devoted to or guided by something http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/servant

Definitions are crystal clear.

Both phrases have one thing in common....they are human beings. Servant, despite being human is defined to be SUBSERVIENT to a boss. In the bone of contention, he's subservient to God. So clear!

You haven't prove anything. Bible called Jesus servant. Meaning he's messenger...nothing else.
it take you more than two weeks to reply this post.

None other prophet has the spirit of God except Jesus(the quran confirmed it) ,what does this mean to you? It mean God possessed the body of a man flesh called Jesus.you and I know that God is a spirit and a spirit needed a flesh to walk in the realm of human. All this simply mean Jesus is God and man,the flesh nature is the servant of God, but God did not override Jesus nature.

Jesus is addressed as a ‘son’ by the angel Gabriel both in the Qur’an (Surah 19:19) and in the Bible (Luke 1:35), whose son is he?” Is it Mary’s? In Surah 19:19, the angel Gabriel said to Mary: “I am only a messenger of thy Lord, to announce to thee the GIFT of a holy son .” Here, Gabriel refers to a son who was to be given as a “GIFT” by God to Mary. Since the Qur’an makes it very clear that the son is a gift from God, it shows that Mary was only the recipient of that gift. She is not the source of that gift but God. The gift belongs to God. The gift was a son. Therefore, the son belongs to God which means the son was His or His son. In other words, God’s son. This testifies to the Gospel truth that Jesus is the Son of God.

Muslims have a great misunderstanding
about what is meant by calling Jesus the
Son of God. To them, it means that God
performed a physical sexual act to
conceive a child. This is an abhorrent
blasphemy because Christians too agree
that “it is not fitting to the majesty and
holiness of God that He should beget a
son” through sexual means. ( Surah
19:35). We know that it is not possible for God to beget a son as a man begets a son. This could never be. God is
incapable of such a physical act and we
must never think of God in this way. No
Christian would ever think such a
blasphemous thing of the true and living God. Christians do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God in a physical sense. They believe that Jesus is the Son of God in a spiritual sense.

The Qur’an asks a question in Surah
6:101:

“How can He have a son when He
hath no consort?”

Observe carefully how the carnal and
physical traits of humans are attributed
to God in this verse. No consideration
whatsoever is given for the divine infinite nature of God. Just because men on earth cannot have sons unless they
cohabit with their wives, so the Qur’an
blasphemously concludes that God, too,
cannot have a son unless he cohabits
with a wife. Try to comprehend this utter ridiculousness for a moment. According to the absurd logic of the Qur’an, although God Almighty was able to create the vast universe and every living being in it out of nothing, he is unable to produce a son for himself without a wife. If God could actually cause Mary to produce a son without a husband, why would it be impossible for him to similarly produce a son without a wife?

The reason for Muhammad’s utter failure to understand this simple truth is explained in the Bible:

1 Corinthians 2:14: But a physical
man does not receive the things of
the spirit of God, for they are
foolishness to him; and he cannot
get to know them, because they are
examined spiritually.

Before we answer the question raised in
Surah 6:101, we want to draw the
attention of Muslims to the fact that the
Qur’an itself answers this question in
Surah 39:4:

“If Allah had willed to choose a son,
He could have chosen what He
would of that which He hath
created. Be He Glorified! He is Allah,
the One, the Absolute.” (Pickthall)

Well, does not this Qur’anic verse prove
that Allah can and could have a son?
Now, let us go back to the question
raised in Surah 6:101. This Qur’anic verse asks, “How can God have a son without a wife?” Just think, why is Mary capable of doing something that Allah cannot? If Muslims can accept the fact that it was possible for Mary to conceive a son without a consort (husband) why do they find it difficult to accept the fact that the Almighty Creator can have a son without a consort (wife)? Yes, if Mary can beget a son without the sexual involvement of a husband, surely the Almighty God can have a son without the association of a wife. It would be very foolish for anyone to limit the power of God by saying, “God
cannot have a son.” The Qur’an itself
proclaims in Surah 2:20: “Lo! Allah is
able to do all things.” (Pickthall)
