That's what you all should understand. He might not have paid fully for the house , but yes he might be the owner. Trust me the way we pay for house cash in Nigeria, that shit don't work there. Lmao. Where in the US do you live? People buy houses cash down. Rich people do. And it's not called payment plan, it's called mortgage. And most mortgage are for 15 or 30 years. Not 5 or 10 years. Lmao. girlloom: Okay house, after reading all the comments I decided to ask my sister inlaw about the SSN. I went to her that I was worried that his card came without an envelope and got a shocker...she said what do I want to use the envelope for? I said SSN is private information and why was it opened, she said they opened it because they could. I lost it and told her respect was reciprocal and it was wrong. She turned it into fight and asked me to leave her house. The husband came and intervened that they held on to it because it was delicate, dumbest reason ever. Unfortunately, my husband is scared of his sister and not saying much. I am so mad right now, I never wanted to stay with his family but didn't have a better option. Just looking to get his visa and return home asap See? See why I said you should report to the authorities? Gosh, they didn't even seem apologetic one bit! See reasons? Nigerians I hail thee!! They held on to it cos it was delicate? And as you be 11 year old Pikin who cannot keep things safe, not to talk of her son's personal property. they were not even repentant! Just look at the arrogance and flagrant disrespect of privacy, telling you they opened it cos they can. Nawa! Even ordering you to leave their house? What do you intend to do now? Justwise, Oya come and see o. what have you to say to these people's behavior now? People coming here to give birth, please and please, if you can afford it, get an apartment. A lot of people will host you in their house and turn themselves into demigods. Want you to be docile and never question their ways even if it's wrong. They'll tell you they're feeding you and putting a roof over your head, so you should be grateful. Save yourself stories that touch like these and don't let anybody disrespect you, all because you're living off them. I'm sure all of you are queens of your households back in Naija, nobody should dire spect you or turn you into a semi-maid in America. Stories like these are abound on this thread, it's sad and painful. Smh. |

worry359: But it is very clear he was up to something, hiding then producing the document! Best to check even with a family member. Ask him straight out "what were you doing" Tell him if there is no answer you will seek one from social security. Yes. I support this too. Ask him pointblank and tell him without mincing words that you're going to alert the IRS that the card came without an envelope (is that even possible for the card to come with an envelope ) if he can't give you reasons why the packet was open. Watch him sing like a canary. |

justwise: Tax is filled after financial year which is from April 5th so i don't think he has used it yet No. Not in the US. Our tax filing season starts in mid January and ends mid Alril. This year's has been on from January 19 and it ends in April 15. So if he wants to use it, he might have used it already and that's just too sad. That said, there is no excusing what he did. Even if he did not use the SSN to claim credits, what he did was absolutely wrong. Social Security Administration is always boldly written on the envelope that brings the card in the mail, so he cannot tell her that he didn't know that it contains the baby's SSN. Then he still went ahead and hid the entire card from her after opening and probably copying the number. Arghhh. How criminal can that be? He didn't think about the criminal implications of that before opening the documents and even hiding it from her? You know what SSN issues can cause someone in America? You gotta experience it before you feel the full weight of it. I still stand by what I said. Call the IRS identity theft hotline. Tell them the envelope was delivered open. No need to mention the person that opened it. Let them put a marker on that SSN and possibly give you a PIN. If he has filed with the SSN this year, fine. Next year if he tries it, his whole refund will be held and he will be told to verify identity with the PIN you were given and since he doesn't know it, that's when the issue will start. If he can't produce it, his whole refund will be held and might prompt an audit and even an investigation. Some Nigerians here are just appalling and I've heard stories of hosts doing that to people. What will the 2K or less claimed from child credit do for you? What? Nonsense!!! |

girlloom: Hello all, please I need help. Okay, I understand ssn should be delivered to the address provided 2 weeks or so after birth. It happened that I didn't receive my son's as at a month afterwards so I felt it actually got missing and was going to request for another. I also mentioned this to my host and they agreed it was probably missing and I should forget about it as there was no need need for the number. At 7 weeks after, I decided to apply for his passport and there was a part on the application form where they requested for ssn, so I told my host that I would be going to the social security office to request for a new one. He then asked to see where the number was requested on the form so I showed him. Surprisingly, my host told me I shouldn't bother that the ss card would be delivered that day and he was very certain. At 8pm that day, he handed me my son's card lnot looking new with no envelope and his ssn exposed. Why would he open a mail that was clearly addressed to my son? I couldn't even say anything because he is my sis inlaw's husband and don't want to come across as rude. Now I suspect my son's card has been used fraudulently for tax claims. Please is it possible to block the number from being used? May I add that my host is now suddenly over protective of his mailbox. I believe there are letters he is receiving that he doesn't want me to see. I'm so sorry to butt in like this. But I'm very angered by the way some Nigerians here behave. The amount he will get from claiming your kid as a dependent is less than 2K so what's the rubbish for? That said, IRS offices are not open all year round and most cities don't even have office. Call the IRS Identity Theft department on 1-800-908-4490 and explain to them that your host handed your son's SSN to you with the envelope opened. They should flag his SSN to prevent anybody from using it and they might also give you a PIN that has to be submitted anytime tax is filled (I'm not entirely sure how it works). Act fast o, tax season is still on on he might even have claimed child credits with the SSN. Don't let him know you're calling the IRS. Keep quiet and if he actually got filed with your Son's SSN he will pay back every penny and his previous taxes might get audited. You need to teach him a lesson |

Godmother: Hi mothers and preggers (if there's such a word) I'm new here. Did a home PT and it showed 2 strips. Went to d hospital for confirmation and d doc refused to, saying there's no need as the 2 strips already shows pregnancy. Also, been having a kind of pain in my lower abdomen, not too severe, but a bit uncomfortable. My mum says its not to worry about as she had it for all her pregs while my doc says I shud return in 2 weeks time for a scan.
Been so scared since as this is my first preg and I don't want any complications. Welcome and congratulations. Different hospitals with different protocols. My hospital would not schedule you for an OB intake until a blood test shows a positive, some hospitals are good with the Urine test you've done. But if you already did the HPT and it was a clear positive and not an evap line, then I don't think you should worry. The test says you're pregnant so relax and enjoy your journey to motherhood. Or you could go to a lab and tell them to do a blood PT on you if you want sha. The cramps are normal. It will come and go. |

udoomama: Abeg mamas make una touch lite for this my matter. Since I was born, I have never experienced nose bleed. But recently, I have been bleeding seriously thru one of my nose, this is the 3rd time it is happening, and it last for about 10-15mins. Is it anything related to my pregnancy? Should I be worried? I do get something similar to your nosebleeds. But mine is when I wake up in the morning. My throat is stuffed with phlegm and when I spit it out, mucus comes out heavily tinged with blood. Then when I blow my nose too, it is very bloody and sometimes the blood that comes out is huge. I complained to my OB and he told me that due to pregnancy, there is an increase in the blood volume in my body and that's also what causes the hemorrhoids I always have. He also said allergies due to the winter can cause it and he recommended me to buy something called Neti Pot, use it as directed and possibly get a humidifier to keep the air circulation damp while I'm asleep. I didn't get the Neti Pot cos no store had it in stock around me, but I got the humidifier and it worked for me. I also put some Ori (African Shea Butter) in my nose before I sleep everynight and that helps in moisturizing my nose while I sleep. Talk to your doctor about it first though to rule out anything but I'm sure its harmless (I read its a perk of being pregnant ). Sorry for the long post. |

Cursing someone and her innocent child because of a fight that happened over a girl that I'm sure neither of you know? May God forgive you cos I am totally shocked and speechless. May the curses you wished on this woman's unborn child not come to past and I also pray the curses do not turn and manifest on you. Also, my heartburn is becoming worse these days. Any meal i eat gives me heartburn. Once i eat one spoonful, my chest starts heating up and i have to drink water for it to calm down. Its very uncomfortable and i wish there is sth i can do As per the spiting, the only thing that works for me is minty sugarless gum. The mint keeps my mouth refreshed and minty and that helps with my spitting and nausea. Constantly chewing on the gum made sure saliva did not build up in my mouth too. We have many malformed kids in Nigeria esp in the north because the babies lacked the basic nutrients they needed to form well... Prenatal drugs are highly essential. .. It's well It's highly essential I know but there's lots of people who can't keep it down. A healthy diet is also key. It's highly essential you take prenatals but if you can't tolerate it, there's nothing you can do. |

He said it was cos of the caffeine in it and that it can cross the placenta to the baby. Since then, all I've ever drank is water and Gatorade. But I guess soda is okay, like one bottle 2-3 times a week. That 3 bottles per day is equal to 21 bottles a week. That amount of caffeine and sugar is too much for you, not to talk of the baby. Please consider reducing it Abeg. As per the prenatal vitamins, me sef dey skip am o. My dear e sisters I have a problem, am 15weeks + and for the past 2weeks, have been experiencing this painful pelvic pain on my right side, it's more painful some days, but other days it's manageable, like today I can't put my right leg down properly, don't know what's wrong. No cramping at all. My nxt antenatal is 1st week of march.#teamAugust# #iyaibeji# I already posted something like that previously. I had the same pain, but in my case, it was in the left pelvic side and it was damn painful. Well, the physician assistant told me to take Tylenol, put heating pad on it and rest well...... It's called round ligament pain (the ligaments holding your uterus is stretching) and the pain can be localized on the left or side side or both sides simultaneously. The pain has stopped now and I'm now dealing with terrible back aches. You'll be fine. You can take some paracetamol or just rest. |

I had to run to the hospital after closer of work yesterday. After administering the necessary tests, and asking questions, the physician assistant told me it was round ligament pain.
