Nonkala: 6K in LA was heavy heavy heavily subsidized like the previous poster stated. Medi-Cal (California Medicaid) is very easy to bill for these providers who in turn also collect money from y’all. I live in California and I paid almost 2K (deductible, out of pocket maximum and the rest) with insurance to birth my kids. It’s however not your fault but the fault of these providers looking to earn a quick buck. Sadly, there’s no way to pay back, Medi-Cal probably already paid on that claim. Paying 6K in a state as expensive as California is probably what triggered the VO. Maybe give it a year or two and try again. All the best ♥️♥️ 1 Like |

Please has anyone here had success reaching out to the US embassy in ATL? I sent documents for my daughter who doesn’t have a Nigerian passport for Emergency Travel but up till now I have not heard back. I have called and emailed, no response. Someone told me about visa on arrival but I’m scared the airlines might not board her. We’re flying Qatar airways. Any pointers will be highly appreciated as I do not want to pay the money twice. Thank you! |

zichien: That’s why I said “E go hard”. Not impossible BUTTTTT very very hard. She straight up lied. That’s misrepresenting and we all know that is one of the gravest visa errors to commit. One of my family members that didn’t lie, but supposedly overstayed (stayed in the US for 2.5 months) still never get visa till today. 5 denials and counting. |

foladetutu: E go hard. You were asked point blank and you lied. Don’t take yet USC child to your interview to avoid questioning about why you’re not applying for the F2 visa for him/her. Pray you don’t get asked about what you did during your previous trips to the US and if they do, don’t lie. You’re gonna be digging a hole that will be impossible to get out of. 1 Like |

Rocktation: Right?! It irks me when people just talk without putting a thought to their words! I graduated with a third class due to several reasons. I did GRE and scored 306, TOEFL 106 and evaluated my transcript with WES. I got a graduate assistantship my second semester in the US, finished that masters with a 3.46/4.0 GPA (STEM course). Went back for my second masters after a few years and graduated with a 4.0/4.0 GPA. I’m currently doing my PhD in Computer and Information Science while also working full time If I had met people like that one early in my pursuit, I’ll still be in square one. Because you graduated with a first class or second class upper gives you zero rights to deride others. Humble yourself before life does it for you. It doesn’t cost a cent to watch your words, measure it carefully and treat fellow humans with respect. Don’t hide under the guise of anonymity of the internet to perpetuate unkindness. 20 Likes |

I know personally of Canada, cos I applied there before. My sister just got her visa in an African country with no permanent residency. And I know people go to neighboring African countries to apply due to the lack of dates in naija. Like I said, it depends on the post/country. Each post makes their own rules ans they fit. |

sugah:Merry Christmas dear in arrears dear . amSteph:Hey mom, sadly I don’t think there is any visa of such. Usually, early intervention is handled by regional centers (at least that’s what they’re called in the state of California). They handle EI until the child is 3 and if the child is still in need of additional help, its transitioned to the s hook district once they turn 3. All of these is handled by state programs and is state funded. It’s usually for US citizen kids or green cards (they verify too cos of insurance payments ). Sometimes speech therapy can be done via zoom, especially since COVID started, bill per session is around $75 - $120 depending on the provider. Insurance would pay if you have and if not, it has to be self paid. Have you looked into options around you? Which state in Nigeria do you reside? I know Lagos has some options, not sure about other states of the federation. 3 Likes |

Good morning mommies and daddies. Im in a bind and I hope someone can help. I applied for an ETC for my daughter at the US Embassy in Washington since last week. The documents were actually delivered last Wednesday. I haven’t heard anything back, infact I have been trying unsuccessfully to reach them on the phone. Does anybody have an idea how to reach them or what the workaround might be? Our flight is next week. I’d really appreciate any pointers |

joy4real1: No she’s not!! Many people, including me hate people being in our personal space for too long. I like my space a lot and get anxious once I sense people eroding it. That’s including times when I have had babies and when I lost people dear to me. I deal with things solitarily. That’s my way. Don’t tell her to be glad people are around her, that’s really insensitive. 17 Likes |

sugah: Nailed it! Start casting and binding and rejecting the diagnosis even when confronted with facts. That’s the sad part of it all. I think the issue is even more common in boys, especially boys who are first kids. I’ve seen it multiple times. Early intervention is gonna be the difference in how kids on the spectrum eventually turn out. And you’re right, a lot of adults if tested will fall on the spectrum. I myself have some traits that aren’t neurotypical but after 30 something years, I have come to accept it as some of my own quirks, sadly. Honestly I wish more awareness is done in Nigeria regarding Autism, cos many people still don’t know or understand it and the losers in this situation are those innocent babies that are not being given the support that they need. What if your friend hadn’t decided to take matters into his own hands? |

Helens101:I’m not a psychologist but looks like he might be on the spectrum. It’s nothing to be scared of. Like the previous poster, Sugah said, early intervention is key and very important. Where do you live? Nigeria? If yes, I’m not sure what services there are for kids on the spectrum in Nigeria. I know all states in the US have free services for kids on the spectrum. Your child will blossom with the right intervention and services, trust me. Also, being in diapers at age 3 is not an indicator or failure or success. My almost 3 year old is still in pull-ups and he’s not on the spectrum or delayed in anyway whatsoever. I just haven’t had time to potty train cos I work full time and he’s not in the house with me for me to start training him. I potty trained my 5 year old when he was three and we literally potty trained over one weekend. He didn’t just potty trained for during the day as well at 3, he was night trained at 3 too. Which means he stopped peeing the bed at 3. I’m an advocate of potty training kids when they’re ready and able to grasp the concept. Makes your life so easy. |

Awesomejah: I am no help regarding how to stop breastfeeding babies. My kids always stop when they’re ready with no fuss. Regarding how to dry your milk with no fever or pain, I used cabbage and rubbed peppermint oil on my boobies, wore tight sports bra and I was completely dry within a week. Maybe try that when you’re ready. 1 Like 1 Share |

sugah: I’m fine Hun. Long time no hear. I don’t know why healthcare professionals are discouraging pregnant women and nursing moms from the vaccine in Nigeria o. I was also skeptical of getting the shot during pregnancy but that was my own personal issue lol. My OB has been pro-vaccine ever since they rolled it out last year. I decided to get the shot now cos the delta variant is getting worse and I have young kids in the house. This variant has been hitting kids hard and causing many of them to be hospitalized. Lord help us. |

Part 3 We made it to the hospital round 5:50 and I got down to enter the lobby while my husband went to look for parking. I was in the lobby getting my temperature checked and waiting for him, the security man was making small talk with me but I Sha wasn’t feeling well enough. I was struggling to answer. Once my husband showed up, I practically ran to the elevators. When we got the Labor and delivery door, I buzzed the intercom and told them to let me in. The nurse that answered had the audacity to be asking me if I was in labor. I nearly cussed her. I snapped at her and she quickly opened it. The put me in a triage room, this was around 6pm. Strapped me with baby heartbeat monitors and she did a quick vaginal exam. She told me I was 5cm dilated. I was happy because I knew they would admit me and the on call doctor said the same thing. So they decided to transfer me to a delivery room. At that point my husband and I were still gisting o. Talking about Buhari and Nigerian politics. The nurse asked me if I wanted to walk or use the wheelchair, I said wheelchair cos the thing don dey pinch me small small. Immediately I got to the new room, I told her to please inform the anesthesiologist that I needed an epidural cos I didn’t wanna wait too long and they will now say it’s too late to get one or that he/she was in surgery (that happened with my first child). She said “okay” but they have to get my blood drawn first to check my platelets before they can get me an epidural. I said okay, get the lab people here. The lab lady came around 6:30 (I knew cos that was the time she wrote on the lab bracelet on my wrist) drew my blood. I asked her how long the test was gonna take and she answered “between 20 and 30 minutes). The nurse offered me IV fentanyl before I could get my epidural and I obliged. That was when show started. Immediately the lab lady left, the pain went mad. I started gripping the bed and growling. I couldn’t gist with my husband again. I was still trying to suppress the pain. But when correct one hit me, I cried out loud! That was the beginning of it. I couldn’t control myself again I was crying out loud with every pain and this time it was back to back. Like less than 45 seconds break. The next time it hit me, I let out a blood curdling scream out of nowhere, even me sef shock! I didn’t know where that came from. There were two nurses in there with me and the one that admitted me said “I need to check her cos she might be ready to go if she’s in this amount of pain”. Lo and behold I was already 10cm and ready to birth. She yelled for the other nurse to go get the doctor and finish setting up the items for delivery. All these while, my husband was in a state of shock. He literally stood by my bed with a WTF expression on his face cos he’s never seen this kind of 0-100 labor before. How do you go from laughing and goofing around minutes ago to screaming like a banshee? I no gree o. I told them to bring epidural cos no way in hell was I having this baby naturally. They said it was too late, I had to. How can it be too late when I was literally 5cm 30mins ago? Okay, give me the IV fentanyl you promised me minutes ago, she said it was too late as well. If they gave me now, baby will also get it and will come out doped up! Ha, temi bami. I sha started crying o. Sharp sharp, my bed transformed, stirrups came up and my legs were lifted. I felt the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my existence. It was exactly like the ring of fire they always described. At this point I didn’t even care again I just was letting the screams out louddddd. God bless my new nurse cos shift change was happening at that point, she came and held my hand and told me to conserve my energy and not scream. When the next contraction hits, to hold my legs and push like my life depended on it. I tried Sha. I pushed the first time, the second and the third and baby girl took her first breath in this world at 7:05pm. About an hour after I got to labor and delivery. It was magical and surreal. She had ABO incompatibility induced jaundice like her brothers (I was already expecting that, when she got blood typed and it was a different type from mine) so she stayed in the NICU for one week undergoing phototherapy. Here was the shortest stay of my three kids and I chalk that up to my husband being proactive and making sure she got blood typed immediately after birth and my recovery nurse who happened to be Nigerian and advocated for the baby to be moved to the NICU immediately we found out her bilirubin level was very high when she was 12 hours old. Anyways, Na so the thing go o. Boots hung. Prayers for safe delivery for all pregnant moms and May all the women TTCing receive their goodness sooner than later. Over and out! 60 Likes 1 Share |
