jolyment: Do you that ASUU has told FG to audit schools account by sending visitation panels, but FG refused. The agreement that FG signed with ASUU is a problem, in the agreement, FG will need to fund University properly and pay lecturers earned allowances. the 'audit schools account' will benefit everyone if done with good intention. ASUU are entitled to their fare share of wages I must agree. but the way ASUU are doing things in Nigeria is that they are more concerned with what will benefit them than what common man will gain. they are not that in love with human development as they claim to be but rather focus on how they will earn like Nigerian senators and ministers in the government cabinet. am not against their desire because is good to aim high. but what am saying is that they should not colour their motive all the time with the talks that they are fighting for the university and the students. no, they should learn to tell public at any time the real motive behind their agitation. |
Politics › There Was No Meeting Between Obaseki, Akwa Ibom REC – Spokesman by mamotalk(op): 10:19am On Sep 01, 2020 |
The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie , has debunked claims that Governor Godwin Obaseki recently held a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission’ s Resident Electoral Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State , Mike Igini , in Benin. Osagie , who said this in a statement in Benin on Monday , advised the All Progressives Congress to stop its endless vilification of critical democratic institutions in the country . The statement read in part , “ In its latest attack on INEC , the APC concocted a story that INEC’ s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini , met with Governor Godwin Obaseki in Benin City . Clearly, the APC is taking its frustration , resulting from its low public rating, out on everyone and anyone that is not ready to do its bidding . “ There was no meeting of any kind between Governor Obaseki and Mike Igini , the INEC REC. ” After a cursory look at the newspapers , one would think that the forthcoming election in Edo State is between the APC and the rest of the world, because the party has vilified and misrepresented the judiciary , INEC, the Benin Chamber of Commerce , Industry , Mines and Agriculture; royal and notable families in Edo State as well as traditional institutions, like a loose cannon. ” He urged the APC’ s gubernatorial candidate , Osagie Ize -Iyamu, to adopt conventional means in his desperation to shore up his image instead of casting aspersions on the nation ’ s important democratic institutions. https://punchng.com/there-was-no-meeting-between-obaseki-akwa-ibom-rec-spokesman/ |

jolyment: ASUU doesn't take part in elections. When lecturers take part in elections, he or she is not representing ASUU. FG need to do the right thing . If they aren't ready to fund education, they should increase school fees. are lecturers not ASUU? does ASUU teach in class? it's lecturers that teach. the ones that partake in election do introduce themselves as lecturers in so and so department and so and so university. so ASUU partake in electoral process in the name of lecturers. FG might not fund schools to the sufficient level, but can the schools account for the ones they are getting. do you know how much they generate from the post jamb, pre degree, mba and some other business ventures? can't hostels be built and maintained from these? I still tell you that ASUU are fighting for themselves and not the school nor the students. |

perfectouchade: we all should know that human being are hypocrites and secondly I think we should let the people decide , if u ask some people parents no be everybody go release their children to go and face the uncertainty at school for now, I can only ask the government to do everything to assure the masses that we are all safe especially the children, if it's politics as usual, make Dem stop e don do but if truly the Virus is in Nigeria, they should strengthen their fight against this virus and get the going running as they will also be affected later..life has to continue but not with a risk of health , if the health is at risk then how life wan continue what am saying is that ASUU of this present days in Nigeria are only fighting for themselves and nothing more. all the excuses they are giving is just to gain public sympathy and not the genuine desire to improve the system. is it not from ASUU that we have school Senate, VC and deans? or do VC of a school need to protest before he can develop? I don't want to go far. saying that parents won't release students is funny. do the parents not release younger ones for waec? are people not applying for military and police jobs now. did people not apply for npower and even praying that they should start quickly. are people not warming up for the 774000 jobs of FG? and all this inside covid 19. Bros let's agree that ASUU are too selfish and they are using dubious means to achieve their aims. |

perfectouchade: some people will not like this but let's be honest with ourselves, instead of mounting pressure to open schools when we ain't sure of the safety, why don't we pressurize the government to fix our education sectors with good and standard facilities, each states should take responsibility of putting things in place, it can't be looting Everytime, they need to fix things ..this is the best time for government to empower the graduates with enough respurces to go into agriculture..this will help the economy back before Things get back to norm..work with telecommunication companies to reduce the cost of data, talk to each local government to provide a hall in different locations that will be closer to every child to pick up their daily guides and classroom task to be sorted and return back for submission with proper social distancing while the graduates are busy doing something to boost tge economy before things get back, we will be surprise that we will have a good economy when the world is finally back running.. government make una think of one strategic way na, make una lead time well you people are funny. is it now that all is tired of staying home that ASUU know that infrastructure need to be fixed? they have been fighting for their pocket since March only to device means of making the agitation acceptable to public by bringing the infrastructure things. why can't they say that schools need to be equip during general election when they eagerly serve INEC as ad-hoc staff? or can't they boycott inec job to pressurise govt. ASUU are only fighting for money in their pockets. |

Temitopemo6e6: Yeah that’s true reopening the university now the country is now open….we Nigerian citizens are too self centered,Kenya stopped all academically sections till next year, those students ain’t human also…the cases of covid 19 on Gahanna student is quite increasing ,Gombe some wave students already have that, now the families is now suffering for it…..why pressuring the government, the wunt be the one to suffer that never…..,a year of academically missed sections is better than losing a life…… the government should please not use a sentiment over losing a life….beside they was a war in Nigeria that lasted over 3years everything was on stop …..next year of school resumption is not bad….wish the government going to see this you get craze for head I must tell you. how do you think that people whose sources of livehood are tied to educational sector, especially the private-owned have been surviving since March? And tell me, does Kogi state still deserve to be under lock? note that those waec candidate with positive status are now negative. try to be human. |

handie: Well, I'm talking about the ones I witnessed. Generally, Obaseki has spent more time talking about how Oshiomole said Ize-Iyamu is a thief and how he's fighting to end Godfatherism than on his achievements for four years. I don't expect you to agree with me but I'm an Edo man and Obaseki has performed below standards in all spectrums bar payment of salaries and basic education. If you disagree, I'd be waiting for your response that's backed up with verifiable proofs try and make enquiry about the others you chose not to witness |

handie: Just shut it already. I really didn't want to talk but this your comment is riddled with soo many falsehoods I had to reply. Obaseki always campaigning with achievements? I'll give you an highlight of his campaign to Akoko Edo. In Igarra, all he could count as achievement is the fact that an Akoko Edo man was appointed as Chief of staff, another as deputy speaker and yet another appointment for another. In Ososo, all he could do in his campaign was lampoon the member representing Akoko Edo constituency 2 and the deputy speaker who happens to be from the community of collecting 40 million to support Oshiomole. Well, you can say what you want. We in Edo know what's up so it's only in Igarra and Ososo that Governor Obaseki mentioned his achievements? don't be over narrow in your bid to bring up what suit your narrative. |

Charmingrascal: I am not even a politician to begin with and I am not from Edo State but like I said, it is better to display your achievements than being petty.
In every life endeavor it is important to showcase your achievements, ur skills and what you can offer than showing what somebody once said about you or about any other person. Yeah Osho showered him with accolades when the going was good. Obaseki should understand that Osho was just reasoning along "party lines" when he said those things, so even If he knew that POI was better than Obaseki he would still say good things about Obaseki because he was his party man. I guess it is Obaseki that should understand the fact Osho said those things because he reasoned "along party lines' you may not be a politician but your words portray you as a person who is tilted towards APC. one thing I can't argue with you is that Oshiomole gave his candid view in 2016 about POI and Governor Obaseki to the best of his ability. If you had followed the campaign train of Governor Obaseki with objective mind, I think by now you should have seen and heard a lot about his achievements but maybe you decide to close your eyes and ears to the strides that's why you are saying he should list his achievements. I will advise you to monitor the visual and audio display on the erected board because as the campaign chairman said, focus will be on replay of the campaign clips in addition to the honest testimonial of Adams Oshiomole. |
