PoliticsRe: Bode George To FG: Giving Nigerians Palliatives Doesn't Make Any Economic Sense by Mandate1: 2:06pm On Aug 09, 2024
trutharena:
Bode George should focus on his own failures instead of criticizing the FG. The government knows what it's doing; palliatives are necessary for the people.
any govt that shares palliative to its citizens as a solution to economic problems is a failed govt. This is just plain fact. Food, shelter and clothing are just basics anyone should be able to afford. It's unfortunate you're blinded by whatever suits your fancy.
PoliticsRe: judiciary destroyed 2023 election in Nigeria – Sam Amadi by Mandate1: 1:55pm On Aug 09, 2024
OAFMods:
If he is Igbo then I can understand why he reason so foolishly.

Judiciary did not destroy Buhari Yardua election even when Yardua declared as winner confirmed n attest to the fact that the election that brought him in was massively n mercilessly rigged.

Judiciary also did destroy Obasanjo 2nd term election which any living soul on the face of the Earth can't come out n defend that it was not just rigged but massively fraudulently n outrageously rigged compare to the 2024 presidential election.

Those 2 elections I stated any lunatic in the PDP write number n declared themselves winner. No foolish Amadi or Amaka came out to wail because it suited their delsuion n foolishness but alas when others win not aligning with their dillussion wailing of lunatic proportion rent the air with all sort of lunatic now exhibiting freedom to express all sort of madness.

Where did Obasanjo and Yardua got 24 Million vote from ? Did they import voters from hell or what suddenly happen to reduce the voting population of Nigeria ?!
you only read to attack and not to learn. Always be open minded. Life does not start and end with tribe, religion and whatnot. Tinibu will one day day leave office, he's currently the president, but does that make the system that brought him to power okay?

Lucky Dube in his song said "we see people die like flies on the TV but never feel anything, until the day someone close to us is killed by the same things we failed to speak against". Wen something is wrong say it.

The writer posited that INEC erred by not following their policy to the letter. You can't set a rule before a race, and change it while about to announce a winner. That's wrong on its own.

HIGHESTPOPORI:
Inec and Judiciary are the problems of Nigeria today
for me it's not INEC but the judiciary. Anyone can manipulate what they like, do all they like, but the onus lies with the judiciary to correct the anomalies.

Not even the politicians are to blame. For me, aside tribalism, the second major problem bedeviling this country is the partial and failed judiciary. Every other arm of govt can fail, but once the judiciary is compromised and failed too, then it's over.

This is a commendable move by the Federal Government! It shows they are genuinely concerned about the food crisis affecting Nigerians. The subsidized rice initiative is a great way to support public servants and ensure transparency in the process. Kudos to President Tinubu for taking steps to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens. Let's hope more such initiatives follow!

Economic & social Illiterates please be silent, states that were collecting 2 billion Naira 2 years ago, are collecting 6 billion Naira today, yet these incoherent clowns say money no reach, and their confused damned citizens say na President fault.

How much money were you & your state government able to raise on your own, to complement the free money from Abuja?
if anyone is the clown, it's you. Before you criticise the gov, take a deep breathe and assimilate what he said. If For example Benue state gets FAAC allocation of #2bn last Yr and the exchange rate is #400-$1 2bn/400=5m dollars. Today the same Benue receives #6bn, and the exchange rate is #1500-$1. If we go by the same arithmetic, #6bn/1500=4m dollars.

Benue state got more revenue in naira form under Buhari, but the real value has decreased. This is why someone who earns 50,000 under Buhari is way better than someone who earns 100,000 under Tinubu. A bag of rice under Buhari is 30,000, same bag of rice under Tinubu is 80,000.

It's a lie. I can say that with confidence because I worked in the agency for Non-Formal Education which gathered such statistics in my state. SW. We normally cook statistics in order to get grants from international donors. I can bet it, the total number of out of school children in SW can not reach 1%. What are they doing at home, even the poorest of the poor strive to enrol their children in private school.
the statistics is moderately correct. Out of school children in L agos alone is massive

The government cannot or even have the right to control price of manufacturers or wholesalers when the same government did not subsidize any part of their production or supply chain......the market naturally controls itself when cost of production or supply is on the minimum and stable....

There are countries where there is subsidy on flour, cotton, wheat, eggs, milk, ...all these things help government put a leash on manufacturers so that end users won't feel the heat...

But in Nigeria.... we want to eat our cake and still keep it ......we remove all existing subsidies, fuel, currency, electricity, etc.all the things that keep production & supply prices on the low.. yet we want to talk about price control.... It's fvnny

Will u force a manufacturer to sell rice for 30k per bag when production, staff, taxes and transportation cost is already 70k per bag

It's funny
the guy is funny. I thought market forces has always been the norm in price regulation? You can't ask a producer or seller to sell below cost price without making a margin.

See in as much as these handouts are impressive looking, all most entrepreneurs need is a stable and friendly economic environment. Stable market prices, manageable road infrastructure and transportation and logistics costs. That's all. I deal and distribute baking margarine/butter. The last buckets (10kg) I supplied to a bakery went for 26,000. I tried restocking this week and that same bucket goes for 29,500 not including cost of logistics. I tried sourcing from Lagos and was quoted prices ranging from 33,000 to 40,000 for other brands. This same butter as at March went for 16,000. So abeg tell me how exactly does one keep up with these mad price hikes. Customs are busy ripping off importers in the name duties and clearance costs. Businesses are shrinking becos you cannot afford to keep up with the quantity you used to stock up on
you dey mind Nigerian govt. The real issue is the cost of production. This their loan/grant won't move anything cos the production cost will eat them up. Electricity is not stable, most businesses rely on fuel and diesel to power their gen.

Salewa97:
The increase in power subsidy is a clear indication that the federal government is committed to ensuring affordable electricity for Nigerians. Yes, it’s a hefty sum, but the priority should be on stabilizing our power sector for the long-term benefit of all citizens. Let's support the government's efforts to harmonize tariffs and gradually phase out subsidies. It’s all about creating a sustainable energy future for Nigeria!
power subsidy my foot. All these are tales by moonlight to deceive the gullible. Nigerians are in darkness, yet the govt is paying power subsidy. To who exactly?

Kam2021:
From his speech, governors are getting lots of money now from the subsidy removal. FG is improving revenue but WHAT ARE THE GOVERNORS DOING WITH SO MUCH MONEY AVAILABLE NOW?
See Rivers as the are wasting money buying cars for their loyalists instead of using the money to develop the state. Tomorrow the people will shout president did nothing, but the state governors are on jamboree.
We should focus even harder on state governors.
why give so much money to the governors who are not utilising it well? Why not from the national level utilise these funds for us all. What is preventing the president from building rice plantations in each geopolitical zone and further privatizing them? Making the governors have more money for wastage isn't leadership. This has always been baba's style from day one. Get more money and share to allies. How do we explain Nigerians are suffering yet governors are having more money?

Minjim:
The demand of all of Nigeria is not every demand.
You Tinubu E-rats are shameless.

What has proven effective in Lagos?

If you look around in Lagos the infrastructure on the ground is not commensurate to the revenue made monthly. If Lagos were poor like Ekiti and we have this infrastructure, then you can say Tinubu has a track record. But Lagos is already rich and anyone can achieve something with it.

The quality of a good leader is the ability to listen, empathise and make compromises.
After all, the money is not his
you nailed it. I keep telling people, to me he's overrated. LAGOS has always been a first among equals when analysing states in Nigeria. Capital of Nigeria from 1914-1992. How else do you want a place to be less developed? Before 1992 Abuja was just an empty land without worthwhile, today it's competing with LAGOS. That's the power of FCT, which many people just forget so soon. Leadership without empathy is nothing but chasing shadows. Vaịn glory that will take no one anywhr. The commenwealth belongs to us all, and I expected the president to tone down at this difficult time. At his age, I dint expect this from him, afterall, it's often assumed that the older the softer. But baba's own is a departure.

The strength of his governance approach has proven effective in Lagos, and we can trust he’ll navigate these challenges with the same resolve. Patience is key.
