the oldest all Girls secondary school in Orlu, aka Morning Star Girls Secondary school, is about to close up. For 3 years running, no road leads to the school, students withdraw after tired of walking bushpaths to schol. A contractor scrap the only road, pour mud and disapeared. The school is not along the major road, so people shall not notice.

Even the road from St Josephs Church to new campus of Imopoly in Orlu has remain closed by a contractor for about 3 years. The school is not along major road also.

Except in recent years that two university graduates presided over Nigeria, scarsely educated people had presided over Nigeria most of the other years since independence. In rapidly developing countries, intellectuals and technocrats lead, but since 1999 in Nigeria, a skewed political structure and flawed unitary/over-centralized governance system ensure that the political class selects one person from our second or even third eleven squad for us to vote for and formalize as leader.

OP Friend, UNN comes among the first three. What is Unilorin doing among the top ten? Nice Delta State Uni. Teach. Hospital. In my home state Imo, the state Uni. Teach. Hospital is located about 30 Km from the state capital, Owerri. It was started nearly same time with DELSUTH. But a very clannish group in Imo which believes that govt must not site state projects outside the state capital has blackmailed every state govt to stall the completion and growth of IMSUTH. Earlier, to allow IMSUTH to be outside the state capital, clan gave condition that a Specialist Hospital be built in the state capital in addition to FMC here. Today, ten years after, both IMSUTH and Specialist Hospital remain uncompleted. Last February, clan leader who is an Engineer/politician requested federal govt for federal university teaching hospital for the state capital. He said it was a condition for delivering Imo votes to GEJ 2015. Lol. But truth is that clan does not belive in the state Uni. Teach Hospital, because it is not located in the state capital. Clan has all five universities and polytechnics in tha state located in or nearest the clan area, and it fights to finish any governor that seeks to transfer any of the institutions out of Owerri area.

Oh LAWD, let this be true, so that splitting Nigeria into peaceable countries becomes easier.

I want to see a tap running down pipeborne water. That should be number one development for citizens. APC states hardly have any programme for pipeborne water for citizens.

Imo leaders? Fake title. Imo leaders do not meet in Omuma. Senator Hope Uzodinma wants to become governor or second term senator in the name of Orlu zone. But Uzodinma relocated the headquarter of Imo West senatorial zone from Orlu to his Omuma in Oru/East lga since Uzodinma was awarded senate seat by the court. Title should have been Uzodinma and his followers say no to APC.

If APC is a national party, if it has zoning of presidency as an agenda, if the party has sense of justice, it ought to nominate an Igbo fron SE as its presidential candidate for 2015 elections. The NC, NW, NE and SW have led Nigeria in the past. SS is now atop, anybody with open mind must suggest that it is the turn of SE to succed president Jonathan.

In answer to your question,no it's not a waste of funds. A place that provides special health care to citizens and employment to specialist health workers can't be a waste of funds.
In an ideal society there should be a hospital withi accessible distance of all residents.
One specialist hospital in a state is not too much to ask.

IMSUTH Orlu and FMC Owerri serve whatever purpose a hospital is meant to serve in Imo state. What is specialist about the so-called Specialist Hospital? Nothing. The Specialist hospital has nothing in it. A few parochial and misguided fellows pushed IMSG to start a specialist hospital Owerri when IMSUTH was established outside the state capital. Since the specialist hospital was established, it has hardly ever functioned, not to talk of functioning as good as a consulting clinic. Let govt pay the staff and merge the structures of the so-called Specialist Hospital, Owerri, to any nearby general hospital.
