The project is to make Nigerians appreciate efforts of this present administration to develop the country,create employment and reposition Nigeria without much noise making. I like what is been churned out in terms of great developmental strides,because facts and figures are given for Nigerians to verify and dispute. mokola1: I can see that a lot of people are getting overly excited by the pictures of construction works going on in Abuja. I am not. here are some of the reasons why; since abuja was designated to become the federal capital of Nigeria, all these infrastuctural projects were commissioned and at different stages money had been allocated to develop roads, rail and bridges so my question is why has it taken more than 30 yrs for these projects to get off the ground? More importantly, where are the funds that have been allocated to execute these projects over the years? let me tell you a "secret", since the return of the shambles called democracy in 1999, almost $10 billion dollars have been approved and paid out to companies and individuals to provide power for the country but ask yourselves, are my confident enough to sell my generator because NEPA will always provide light? I think we all know the answer to that. So while some may jump in joy after seeing these projects I say it is too little too late and Nigerians are still being short changed. Fly over lagos at night and you'd think you are flying over the atlantic or a desert because it is almost pitch black. We haven't even started mentioning other parts of the country and probably best not to because the level of development can only be compared to bronze age.

Our past leaders stole us silly and abandoned some of those projects,who will you hold? But the fresh air transformation drive of President Goodluck Jonathan has refused towing that line and is now showing you where he is taking us from where we used to be.

It is a partnership, symbiotic relationship between FG and the Chinese govt. the loan is at 2.5% and money is disbursed through the foreign consultants according to the level of work done to ensure clarity and accountability. The project will be completed b 2015 and every indicator points towards successful completion and on the scheduled date.

Current developments shows promise if followed up, notably MAN who recently applauded the FG policies in reducing some tedious processes the manufacturing sector faced. They asserted that 240 new factories were established with over 250,000 jobs provided in 2012 . . .Negligible you might say but still a good start since it is a direct input of recent policies propounded by the current FG as established by MAN

And more jobs are still rolling out. In the creation of over 33,000 jobs in the immigration,prisons,civil defence and the military,NDLEA,EFCC,NAPTIP and federal establishments. Wait for the next data on employment rate and come back with this thread,we are definitely stepping in the right direction. The health state of Yar'adua and the politics that followed his death distorted a whole lot of things,but thank God we are on track now.

The old fogie does not understand my passion for Ogun state to do really well and probably isn't aware of my link to the state (bt he's not meant to know, bless him). I wish nothing but the best for Nigeria but in the event of that being far-fetched, I wish the very best for the Yoruba people and the only way to get the best is not to praise these politicians unreservedly but to assist them in pointing out areas in which they are lagging. Truthfully, I come to Nairaland to keep abreast of happenings in and around Nigeria and the beauty of being part of such community is that you learn of happenings in places in Nigeria that you woulnd't otherwise be privy to before the advent of the internet. So in fact, Amosun might be working his butts off but because he perhaps does not have the publicity machinery behind the governors of states such as Lagos, his good works are not being made public to those outside his state. It was with this state of mind that I concluded that he was doing "nada"(which i'm sure that discerning minds would know was a mere exaggeration as it is virtually impossible for him to do nada).

You see, Nigeria is crippled with bad leadership, corruption to name but a few and these ACN governors can not be absolved from the rot because at some point, some of these said governors have held positions either in the lower or upper chambers of the NASS so for them to come out now under the umbrella of a new party does not absolve them from the atrocities the partly created. I want people (most especially Yoruba people) to bear this in mind and start to demand more from their government and not be content with the notion that the evil PDP party is now out so everything is dandy. Very far from it, because the evil that lay in the pdp party could easily be re-awakened in the ACN. We claim to be a people of sophistry, so we should show that by not all sleeping facing the same side but provide check and balances to our governments. We must criticize when necessary and not just be so myopically content with the little they give and call it much. Amosun buying truck and tarring a few roads is good but we want him to tap into the economical viability of the state of Ogun. I want to see him partner with Fashola to bring Ogun to take its place in the pride of states in Nigeria. Ogun perhaps have even vast opportunities than Lagos but I am not seeing it milk into that. I know that some would come out to defend Amosun by bringing up the attrocities caused by Gbenga Daniel and yes they would be right in doing so but for how long are we gonna keep playing that record. We regret letting PDP in, we have learnt from our mistake and we should now start on region building. Okay, the old fogie would say that is what Amosun is doing now, but the magnitude of his work is relative. Whatever he is doing now, I know he can do much better and we shouldn't say because pdp damaged so much, we should be grateful for so little. Where is the aspiration in that?

Anyway, I have ranted enough. I have come to understand however that Gbawe has vested interested in ACN hence his inability to continue being objective.

Maxymilliano: I beg to disagree with you Bro, the premise of your argument is faulty, hence the wrong conclusion. GEJ has no reason whatsoever to instigate the artificial scarcity currently experienced across the country to justify subsidy removal.

The Oil marketers are solely responsible for this despite the fact that the government have shifted its stance to ensure payments of outstanding subsidy claims to genuine importers.

What we should advocate or unite our voice against is the stranglehold of Oil marketers on the economy and why government should ensure optimal operation of our refineries to curtail the unnecessary vagaries we are being subjected to.

While we take away some positives from that experience,we have to take into cognisance the fact that fuel subsidy has been the root of 99% of or fuel related economic problems in this country. It may be difficult at first, but going into elaborate explanations on the positives of removing fuel subsidy will take the whole page and I will not want to bore you with the whole thing,but if truth be said,let the subsidy be completely removed,so that this manipulations will stop. This will create an enabling ground for players in the sector. @op, GEJ does not need to institute artificial scarcity for the subsidy removal to sail through. The way the Obasanjo administration gave away Bakassi still galls me till tomorrow, but I don't think all hope is lost yet, what we mus do is appeal a judgement that was delivered in sentiment,not bringing all factors into due consideration. Gbawe: I disapprove of homosexual acts myself simply because it is something I have no interest in and I don't understand why some men simply cannot find women irresistible but , ultimately, I concede that there is nothing wrong with other adults making choices that are different to mine and doing what they wan't in their bedrooms. It is the same with many things and as adults, we must conclude that disapproval must not become intolerance.

I disapprove of a lot of things because of personal preferences (footballers ridiculous wages, for example, while vital science researches are begging for funds) but understand that we must all respect adult choices and not be quick to proclaim something wrong merely because we don't approve of it.
