Pay more attention to rise in impairments when the Q3 results are released.
Atlantic Energy's boss was picked up a day after D.Allison was arrested in the U.K

FBNH and Skye presently have over $400 million loan exposure to Atlantic energy. The amount ($400M) is over 4% of total NPL in Nigeria.

So here you are.... you have the figures... Do the math. smiley
This news is stale, both banks made provision for this in 2014. Skye bank did not pay dividend in 2014 except a bonus of 1 for 20, FBN also managed to pay a dividend of 10k because they tried to clean their books.

Why will oando go into receivership when they can simply dispose of some of their assets to offset their debts? I think the board just needs to make some tough calls and accept that the acquisitions they've made in recent years have been faulty, and probably sell them off. The assets they've borrowed money to acquire in recent years have'nt been as profitable as we all envisaged. I remember some people here were praising oando and Wale after the COP deal was consummated because we all thought we would easily offset the debts from d deal and start making profit. Nobody was looking at the US crude inventory charts. Lets just sell off d assets and return to profitability. Plus the NSE and SEC should start taking corporate governance and accountability in quoted companies serious. Its not enough to fine companies that delay their results. They can easily pay d fines and continue to hold on to the results, like Oando has done. Let's have stricter penalties for delayed results. To me Receivership is totally off the cards for Oando
Thank you for this post. Receivership or filing for insolvency are just the worst case scenario. Someone said the banks that financed the deals will also be in trouble, but I made him realise that the banks are in better position compared to Oando. Oando will surely pay back, except Wale wants Oando to go into receivership which will not be in favour of Wale and his cohort because they will lose control of the company's finance which is the koko.:........................... I dey church, we will talk latter.

ok but the banks will not give any thing to there shareholders befor they get there money back but what of if this banks cant raise there money back in five years? what will happen to there shareholders in that five years? and oando may own other company that is not banks two .
But Oando is not the only customer, most of the banks have cleaned their books, the worst scenario is for the banks to take over the finance of Oando in order to recover their money. Wale will not allow the problems of Oando to degenerate to the embarasing situation of receivership.

True. Many of the banks are also have the same impairment issues.
A good number of them have cleaned their books, Onasanya made a lot of mistakes at FBN but the board gave him a soft landing by allowing him to resign with effect from 1st January 2016. A new team will manage FBN from 2016, the market is waiting for their 3 quarter result.

And every body is talking about oando and forget or may not know this and they have big share's with the banks . that is why i say know one is 100% good in stock . deer, japaul e.t.c are example's .
The banks that gave loans to Oando are in a better position compared Oando. They can decide to put Oando into receivership, if this happen they can take-over the running of Oando or appoint managers who will run Oando, the essence this is to make sure thet recover their money. I am very sure Wale and his cohort will not want this to happen, they will ensure the loans are paid as at when due the people who will suffer are the shareholders. Wale will soon come to raise more funds from investors, it is really "a very long walk to freedom for shareholders of this company".

I'm not being sentimental, I'm being factual. Wouldn't the company's bottom-line improve with the cash raised from the rights and the sale of part of the downstream business?

I am invested in the company, all I want is to get the best return, so I support your sentiment about Wale and his cohorts. I raised that issue some months ago on this thread (I'm sure you can dig that out too). The company's corporate governance leaves little to be desired, the earlier a new management team come on board, the better.
Most shareholders did not take their rights, the rights were eventually taken by Wale and his group, the company over-paid for the COP deal, administrative cost is on the side, corporare misgoverance and management recklessness coupled with the fall in prices of crude oil are factors that may adversely affect quick recovery of this company. Creditors may take over this company.

I'm optimistic about the company's Q3 results. The cash raised via the right issue and the sale of 60% of its downstream business for N54billion will reflect in the Q3 result. However, I think this result will activate a sell panic mode obviously, but I think the Q3 will bring on the bulls.
Dont be sentimental about this company, things improve when Wale and his cohorts leave the company.

oando is a coy with too much leverage and debt couple with its know bad corporate governance that has not change so far.I am a proud VALUE INVESTOR,honestly i dont see this coy as a company with good sustainable fundamentals but rather a good candidate for trading because of its high beta, liquity, publicity stunt of d coy, market players loyalty ecetera.whoever is buying oando at this top is doom for burnt fingers or regret.you need to be very careful on any trading stock because for trading stock what you need to focus on is CROWD IGNORANCE,i mean taking advantage of sentimental bias of market players that comes from acting on news without conducting proper rational and logical reasoning on fact and figures in light with rightful data to peep realistically into a realistic future on a particular stock.Be careful to take emotional attachment out of investing becos that would give you a better success yielding decisions with no flaw or little that will be insignificant to your investing success.Even, i as a value investor,i have traded on some stocks with no fundamental at all but had great patronage on the bourse and i was able to make real good cash on them because i knew i have got to come at a price around support and towards grivatating to resistance level with my finobocci telling me its around overbought region with volume coming down i would quickly get out with my PROFIT or else mr market would have take away my gain.so be cautious about oando because there is no GOOD MGT in this coy.The coy is just using media to push this gabbage so make sure you take your profit at right time before you might be the last idiot holding the empty bag.oando is an inflated balloon that is being manipulated often times and i know it will inevitably burst very soon.A stitch in time saves nine!!!!!

A good company can sell at a bad price, while a bad company can sell at a good price. I remember a bad company selling at a good price of less than N1.00 in 2006 based on the company's fundamentals. A group of new investors invested in this company, raised more funds through right offer that sold at N0.85k in 2006 and turned around the company, as we speak the stock is selling around N20.00 giving an annualised return of about 60% between 2006 and 2013.

The company is International Brewery Ilesha

This type of thread should not be brought to the front page, because of the quality of comments one will get on this type of topic. This ought to be left in the investment section where indepth analyses and comments will be made on the subject matter. The problem with Oando started more than 5 years ago, and it is caused by the greed, recklessness, corporate governance issues, high debt, mismanagement and over-ambition by Wale and his gang.

Pa Emma, what in your opinion could be the implication of the over $461mil (90billion naira) helios/vitol JV deal and why did they deliberately refuse to include it in the released results. WT remains unpredictable and unworthy of trust. In my opinion, this result was released to make some pple sell their holdings while WT and co mop them up before releasing the 3rd qrt result. I wouldn't advise anyone to sell, until the 3rd qrt result is out. Wt that I have come to kn would not just release such a bad result. It is either he wants to declare for bankruptcy (after laundering all the company's money) or he is planning some grand scheme. Only time will tell.
I can only advise you to follow your mind, I have no regret selling all my Oando holdings for between N20 and N22.

Naa, some of them are really disappointed.

Because they've been marketing Oando to the world as a stable coy.

Even SMN is boiling now grin

But I know the company Will recover big time.

Oando needs proper restructuring, and thats what FMN is currently doing.

That administrative costs just show that Oando lacks efficiency
Administrative cost of over N250 billion is not real, that is a creative way of cooking the books. It will take God's grace for Oando to get out of this mess in 5 years.

The bolded was what my Big Bros told people when he was trying to woo investors For starcomms IPO, through his Issuing House.

Until Starcomm KPI started falling, and CDMA business started dying in Nigeria.

Today most people with starcomms stocks, are left hanging. While the Lebanese and Nigeria directors cleared the company treasury and disappeared.

Company owners get levels. If you understand my pigin.
shareholders are the owners, and investors need to do their home work before they commit their hard earned money into any investment. Investors also need to be informed and knowledgeable about their investments.

Some of us have made good profit from Oando fluctuation in the last 5 months, the same Oando people are crying about .

Just telling people to stop attaching sentiments and emotions in investment, especially stocks.
Because the owners are emotionless businessmen.

Just make your money and look away.
Shareholders are the owners, investors should not invest with sentiments but with facts and figures. I owned Oando shares for 20 years right from the days of Unipetrol, but had to sell my total holdings of over 200k units when the future of the company started becoming bleak.
