HopeAtHand: Rivers state, though with its smaller population shouldn't be so far behind lagos in IGR. This is a state blessed with abundant oil and gas, have two of nigerias four refineries, a petrochemical plant, Nigeria LNG plant, seaports and railway terminal. All these have been in existence for decades.
The Nigerian culture of neglect (some may argue its tribalism) has left Rivers ports and rail terminal moribund. Let our seaports and the railway services btwn Rivers and Neighbouring state be functional as see our IGR figures doubled.
If a true fiscal federalism is achieved for states, Lagos will lag behind Rivers. Nothing exceptional with Lagos leaders because you can have tall dreams but without funds you cannot achieve it. I believe it's more than neglect. It is share laziness due to the oil rent. As far as 10yrs ago, people like Pat Utomi, Prof. Soludo and Bismark Rewane had sounded the alarm that many states were living on the knife edge. Lagos today is living off the factor of the creativity and ingenuity of the leaders than the assets. Lagos is thriving on simple things like enabling environment, friendly ambience and investment in security. Lagos keep creating avenues for IGR by improving the society. Why do you think Fowler is selected the chairman of FIRS. These are guys that can creatively pursue revenue with brutal efficiency. Can Rivers do same? Absolutely. They simply need to do what Lagos does and be better. Rivers need to steam the tide of insecurity. NDA boys are demanding that oil coys should relocate their HQs to Niger Delta. That was a demand that was acceeded to few years ago. Shell, Total, Agip etc all moved their HQs. What were they "rewarded" with? Kidnapping. Today Agip is in Abuja, Total is technically back to Lagos, Shell is technically not in pH, Mobil and Chevron are rooted in Lagos and flies field workers by choppers......... |

Sincerely, Rivers state has prospects. Only if Amaechi and Wike can keep politics aside and forge ahead, get our ports functional, deal with cultism and invest on Greater Port Harcourt (GPH), i see us getting closer to Lagos states IGR in a few years time. Bros, There's a saying that if all the money in the world is collected from the rich and distributed equally to all, in 2 hrs the money will find its way back to the original owners (the rich)......... You guys get a wrong impression about Lagos. Lagos you see today was planned and have been blessed with people with greater capacity and capital than mere tangibles...... You see Ambode signing MOUs of big ticket investments, you think investors' opinions were formed simply because Lagos was formal capital? Some of you can never get it........ |

“I don’t know why we are wasting manpower. Billyonaire: Why were his seniors in service, who are beyond him based on merit and years of experience ignored for the position of IG ?
Why do we jump chains of command in this country and select someone we like ?
This is nepotism and it discourages meritorious enterprise. I feel the almighty President had already decided to retire those people but was just shopping for anyone, that will be ready to do his bidding as IG.
I really hope we all survive the in-experienced experimentation of this wonderful administration that was foisted on us by the ignorant majority. There is more efforts today in retrenchment and replacement of people in governance than the governance itself.
Very shameful to be a Nigerian this past year. The revolution that is attestable to the current might and prowess of the American military is notably traceable to Gen Eisenhower. He was a young officer promoted over his superiors as the head of the military. He swiftly retired all his superiors and built a new US military with brilliant young folks (notably Omar Bradley, one of the chief strategist instrumental in defeating Hitler), many were his students when he was an instructor at the military academy. It was noted that Eisenhower took copious notes of exceptional and outstanding student-offficers in his diary............ Eisenhower went on to become POTUS Bros, there is noting nepotic here. Leadership is not one-way traffic. Even this happens in the private sector as well |

If you are sincere, you should know that most of the people may not have an idea where the money came from. Didn't pdp raise funds, just like apc? So all funds donated to PDP were paid to ONSA?
A man of integrity should start from himself. I, like most honest Nigerians, don't care about pdp or apc. They are both the same. What most of us are saying is simple. Justice. Equity. Fairness. akinbros: Yeah I support that the money is within the economy and If an 'average Nigerian' will gain contract for supplies and the rest. Its a good idea.
To me I'm looking at government investing 400billion creating production companies of 1billion naira each of 400 units or 500million naira each of 800 companies in different categories of products to boost our export scattered all over the federation that will boost our non -oil exports, thereby creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and earning fx into our economy.
Lets imagine 400billion annually for 4yrs creating such and that will by far reduce importation to a very large extent.
Primary school students are not starving/hungry. Bros, It's been proven over time that government overt involvement in business has been a near, if not a, disaster. 400 production companies will run aground pretty fast. MKO once said "government should have no business in business". Truth is primary school student are pretty hungry. Bros, 1. Both are and serve different purpose 2. The feeding program is targetted at pry 1-3 for starters. Even in countries where parents are mega empowered, it is not a guarantee that children will have decent balanced diet that will enhance their well being. That is why even in these advance countries, government still feed the children in public schools. Eluwilussit: Don't you think that the number of persons being accused will make the $2.1b amount to stipends after sharing? The simple thing to do is to arrest and try the chief culprits : Jonathan and Dasuki.
Some of these men being harassed may not have known the source of the money. It could simply have been pdp money. Just like the one apc used to execute their campaigns and elections was apc money.
It is ridiculous to assume that apc spent all the billions, matching pdp almost dollar for dollar, without persons like Amaechi, Tinubu and Fashola contributing from their stolen wealth.
Meanwhile Mr. Integrity has hired 15 SAS to defend his certificate forgery. Isn't it easier to just show the certificate? Hypocrisy and double standard is killing this government. Nigerians deserve better. 1. It is trite that when a case of that magnitude is being investigated, the money would be traced to every established recipients. Pray tell! What business was PDP into that a recipient will be funded through the office of the NSA and such persons will claim ignorance of the source of the money? How do you arrest your supposed "Chief Culprit" (Jonathan) without first building a case against him? How will you build such a case without bringing all who has "chopped" the money to book? Don't you see that people like Metuh, FFK et al have started mentioning GEJ..... 2. The money APC used for their campaign should also be investigated.......but then the question is on what premise? Note that the Dasuki's case is not an investigation of PDP campaign funds. It is an investigation of the $2.1b arms money which found it's way into PDP campaign. The challenge for you lot may be to establish the source of the supposed APC campaign funds. For example, why is it difficult for Wike to come up with a water-tight evidence that Amaechi used River's money for APC's campaign. 3. Don't jerk-off on PMB's current case. Let it run his course. The number of lawyers he used is irrelevant. If he's guilty, let the court decide |

Having residence correspondence will save cost and still achieve more. Intact in not too distance time, all the so called state correspondence will be contracted out to would've content provider enterprenures. Bros, 1. AIT is a classic case of a typical Nigerian family owned enterprise. They never seem to make it to the next level, i.e. become a big conglomerate and international in the true sense of it. Do you know that AIT and DSTV started a year apart? Compare the two now. If we're not careful, AIT will go the way of the likes of MITV, i.e. merely and virtually existing 2. Channels and TVC are in different world. But I am happy for both. Channels TV won the TV Station of the year for 8 out of 9 years ( and 7 back-2-back).
