Politics / Senate President Saraki Relocates To Official Residence To Avoid Arrest by marked10(m): 2:28pm On Sep 20, 2015
In a report by The Nation Newspaper, Saraki relocated from his personal residence in Maitama District in Abuja to the official Guest House of the Office of the President of the Senate for security reasons.

There are claims that the Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki has relocated to his official resident to avoid arrest after failing to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on a 13-count criminal charges.

In a report by The Nation Newspaper, Saraki relocated from his personal residence in Maitama District in Abuja to the official Guest House of the Office of the President of the Senate for security reasons.

Though his aides claim the relocation was as a result of a renovation process going on in the house as a result of a fire incident, the report deduced that the Senate President moved out of his personal residence to the official lodge for “strategic reasons and safety.”

While the police await a bench warrant of arrest from Code of Conduct Tribunal to enable the force swing into action, it is believed that an invasion of the Senate President’s official lodge to arrest Saraki might be considered an assault on the Senate. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/senate-president-saraki-relocates-to.html#sthash.0iTSjxk6.dpuf

Politics / Urgent Meeting: 50 Senators Meet Over Senate President’s Imminent Arrest by marked10(m): 1:25pm On Sep 20, 2015
A total of 50 senators that included Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Dino Melaye met on Saturday, September 19, 2015 to deliberate on the predicament of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The Daily Interest Newspaper reported that the senators who met in Abuja included Senators representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties.

Other Senators spotted at the meeting include Senator Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East), Senator Binta Garba Masi (APC, Adamawa North), Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC, Kano South), Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara South), Senator Hamma Misau (APC, Bauchi Central) and Senator Hope Uzodinma (PDP, Imo-West).

Said to be a four hour meeting, the deliberation also had other senators who were not in the country-those on hajj and vacation- giving their suggestions and ideas through telephone. Chaired by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, the senators agreed to support the anti-graft war of President Buhari, but accused ‘a cabal’ in the Presidency of instigating the government institutions against Senate President Saraki.

At the meeting, the senators also resolved to use all necessary channels to correct the anomaly.

Speaking on the outcome of the emergency meeting, Na’Allah said, “We have resolved to use all available powers under the constitution to ensure that no cabal exists and run the government on behalf of Buhari and we have also resolved to deal decisively with the cabal,” he said. - See more at: http://pulse.ng/politics/saraki-50-senators-meet-over-senate-president-s-imminent-arrest-id4184622.html

Politics / Allegation Against Me By Code Of Conduct Bureau Are False & Frivolous - Saraki by marked10(m): 7:48am On Sep 18, 2015
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, yesterday reacted to allegations being made against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau ( CCB), over alleged falsification of assets declaration, as mischievous and untrue.
Saraki, who reacted to the allegation in a chat with journalists after a courtesy call on him by the management of the Public Complaints Commission ( PCC), said the charges were not only untrue, but anchored on age- long document.

He said, “Most of these allegations are frivolous and not true.It has been there since 2003 and you wake up twelve years after to start raising non- existing issues. “I have always done my assets declaration. We will continue to do our work here. There is no doubt about it that it is mischevious and It is not current.

“The issues raised are not true. As far as we are concerned, we are not shaken. We will focus on what we have come here to do, elected by the people and by my colleagues to work for the interest of this country.”

Saraki said that the CCB was being influenced by external forces and added that he would not in any way be distracted by the spurious allegations.

The statement reads in part, ‘The attention of Dr. Bukola Saraki, president of the Senate, has been drawn to a charge sheet being widely circulated on the online media, upon which he is expected to be tried at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). “It should be noted that at the time of writing this statement (10.00am on September 16, 2015), Dr. Saraki has not been served the court process.” - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/saraki-blasts-code-of-conduct-bureau.html#sthash.fHvKbxlb.dpuf

Politics / We’ll Gladly Accept Fayose’s Rams, Food Items – Ekiti Imams. Lobatan! by marked10(m): 5:35am On Sep 17, 2015
The General Secretary, League of Imams and Alfas in Nigeria, Ekiti State, Alhaji Abdulrazak Adenipekun, has ordered Muslims in the state to ignore the ban on Sallah’s gift from Governor Ayodele Fayose.

This was contrary to a communique signed by the League’s Assistant Secretary, Alhaji Quadri Oguntuase; a Representative of Ansar-u-deen Missioner, Fatai Jimoh and Chief Imam, Ilogbo, Imam Abdul Rasak, on Tuesday.

He said, “We wish to dissociate the league of Imams and Alfas in Ekiti from the purported press statement credited to Alhaji Oguntuase. While we don’t want to get involved in politics as a religious organization, we must state that Fayose has demonstrated highest respect for Muslims in the State.

“That can be seen from how he, for the first time in the history, made a Muslim one of the three senators representing Ekiti State. One of the two House of Assembly members representing Ado Local Government is a Muslim.

“It is the height of political mischief for anyone or group masquerading as League of Imams and Alfas to have used our revered religious and non-political organization to promote their personal political agenda. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/well-gladly-accept-fayoses-rams-food.html#sthash.HmGjvCgI.dpuf

Politics / MASSOB Group's Leaders Abducts Catholic Priest As Hostage by marked10(m): 5:24am On Sep 17, 2015
Leaders and members of Movement For the Actualisation of Sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB) reportedly held the priest in charge of St Luanga Catholic Church, Opoko in Onitsha, Anambra state, hostage.

Apparently, they wanted a clergy man to bless the 16th year anniversary celebration of the group. The Priest was rescued by the timely intervention of men of the police force from Zone 9.

Confirming their arrest to newsmen, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 9, Umuahia, Akila Usman Gwary said “In Anambra, 35 suspects were arrested. 18 of them were arrested from St. Luanga Catholic Church, Opoko in Onitsha, Anambra state. These people were holding the parish priest hostage, forcing him to conduct an anniversary mass for them. And they were all in their uniforms, with their flags. They were rounded up there and were picked from the church by the police.”

Adding that “These were the only people that were picked by the police. There was no loss of life, there was no reason for exchange of firing, there was no reason to fire anybody. The people were arrested, taken into custody and have been charged to court this morning. There was no issue of 200 people dead.” - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/massob-groups-leaders-abducts-catholic.html#sthash.pUGqt5Mp.dpuf

Politics / The Beautiful Ones Are Now Born - Touching Article By Dele Momosu by marked10(m): 4:27pm On Sep 13, 2015
Fellow Africans, these are interesting times for our Continent. Believe me, great things are beginning to happen. I’m sure you’re wondering about the basis for my boundless optimism on this page today. I will elucidate. For a very long time, Africa’s biggest nation, Nigeria, was seen as a nuisance and treated by and large like a pariah. It was believed that we didn’t set good examples for the smaller countries to follow. Coups and counter-coups reigned supreme. Several African countries, especially on the West coast, were badly afflicted and affected.

Leadership became more of a curse than a blessing. One of my favourite African authors, Ayi Kwei Armah, took pessimism to the limit when he wrote his novel and titled it “The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born”.
This Book and its title came to my mind last Monday as President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidential Jet, called “Nigeria Air Force” landed in the beautiful city of Accra, Ghana at the Presidential Wing of the Kotoka International Airport. The President disembarked to the tuneful martial music provided by the Ghanaian military.

The setting was picturesque! Right from the gates where heavily armed members of the Ghanaian military and security forces manned the perimeter and ushered all guests through an exceptional security screening system that had been temporarily erected for the special occasion.gaily dressed Nigerian women were on parade. Ghanaian traditional Drummers (with their Fontomfrom), performers and musicians were on hand to entertain guests as they arrived. The VIPs were ushered into a cosy waiting room where biscuits, coffee, tea, water and minerals were liberally served. The carnival-like atmosphere was infectiously captivating.

The strongman of Nigeria was coming to town and the government of Ghana was not treating it lightly. Nigerian leaders have always been highly regarded here. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has the longest road in Accra named after him and he and President John Agyekum Kufuor were instrumental to the Nigerian Banking explosion in Ghana. Therefore, anything and everything to make President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit as stately as possible was contemplated and actualised commendably by his hosts
The planning was clinically executed. The Chief Host, President John Dramani Mahama, the ebullient and Princely leader of The Republic of Ghana, left no stone unturned. He was physically present at the airport to welcome his august visitor. President Buhari was given a quintessential Akwaaba treat.

Please, let’s paint a vivid picture of the airport experience. The appointed time for touch-down eventually came. The big Boeing plane ferrying Nigeria’s President and his entourage descended smoothly on the runway. The jubilant crowd exploded in wild excitement. President Mahama walked briskly out of his lounge on a long red carpet towards the Nigeria Air Force One. He waived triumphantly at the crowd. I always find his humility very disarming. How he takes all the heat with uncommon equanimity impresses me endlessly. As I soliloquised about him, it seemed he suddenly looked in my direction somewhat telepathically. We had not seen in a long while and he just detoured momentarily and hurriedly shook hands with me before continuing his journey to the plane. Standing close were Femi Adeshina, Special Adviser, Media – who had dinner with Dr Kayode Fayemi, Sola Osunkeye MD of the Sun Newspapers Ghana and Prince Adedamola Aderemi at my home the night before. I was truly honoured and felt highly privileged.

President Buhari came into the warm embrace of President Mahama. Nigerian officials and dignitaries who assisted President Mahama to welcome President Buhari to Ghana included amongst others, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Bulus Lolo, with experienced diplomat the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Seyi Onafowokan and Dr Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State. Immediately the President and his entourage stepped off the aircraft the National anthems of both countries were played and then President Buhari took the salute after reviewing the military parade.

The Ghanaian artillery complemented the colourful military ceremonies with their booming guns reverberating through the sombre skies.

That session over, the two Presidents waltzed like Siamese twins towards the dignitaries, Ghanaians and Nigerians alike, plus members of the diplomatic corps. First on were members of the Ghanaian privilegentsia, The Ministers, Service Chiefs, politicians, foreign affairs personnel and highly placed civil servants. They had been asked to turn out in significant numbers to welcome Africa’s number one leader, President Buhari. Next in line were the Diplomatic Corps and then came the Nigerian delegation. It was certainly a good time to be a proud Nigerian.

Senator Hadi Siriki was at the head of the Nigerian welcoming team. Next to him was my humble self and then my bosom friend and the Prince of Ile-Ife, Prince Adedamola Aderemi, who as well as being a Director Of Ovation International is also Director of Energy Bank Ghana owned by Nigeria’s Jimoh Ibrahim.

I was happy to shake hands with my President. Who wouldn’t want to seize that chance as frequently as possible? Then I got a pleasant surprise again from President Mahama. “Dele Momodu is our own in Ghana” the Ghanaian leader said as he introduced me to my own leader. President Buhari exploded in laughter revealing his beautiful gap-tooth. It remains a miracle how the Ovation photographer, Ben Dzaka, managed to capture that rare moment for posterity. He must have been possessed of the Holy Spirit as he fired his camera like a sub-machine gun despite being jostled by security men and other photo merchants who were just as eager to capture our dear President in a relaxed and jovial mood.

For me, President Mahama’s gesture was the ultimate acknowledgement, and seal of appreciation for the modest contributions of the Ovation International team in bringing Nigerians closer to Ghanaians. A close relationship accompanied by mutual distrust had always existed between both countries. When Ovation International birthed in Ghana nearly 15 years ago, there was not a single Nigerian bank in the country. The commonest excuse then was that Nigerians were synonymous with scams, drugs and all the bad behaviour which was stereotypically topical at a time.

Read more news at www.exlinklodge.com

The anti-Nigerian sentiment was not limited to just one country it cut tearfully across the African continent and beyond. It was our lot to work assiduously to correct and obliterate some of the frontal and subliminal campaign of calumny against our country. Dr Tunji Kolapo and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro performed wonders during their tenures as High Commissioners with the support of the Nigerian Professionals Association led by the then Otunba Mike Ajayi, now the paramount monarch of Erinmo Kingdom.
The pages of Ovation International showcased our hard-working men and women globally and we did the same for Ghanaians. We did not discriminate.

The way and manner in which Ovation International promoted Ghana as a major tourist destination and as a conducive place for business and investment was the precursor to the flourishing inward investment Ghana enjoyed from Nigerians.
It became possible to identify the striking entrepreneurs and celebrate their giant strides. In another month or so, Africa’s global bank, United Bank for Africa, (UBA) will be rolling out the drums to celebrate its 10th anniversary as the first Nigerian bank in Ghana. That extraordinary feat was achieved by the whizz-kid of banking, Mr Tony O. Elumelu when he was Managing Director of Standard Trust Bank.

So many other Nigerian or Nigerian owned banks are now occupying eminent landscapes in Ghana. They include Zenith, GTB, First Atlantic, Access, Energy. There are other Nigerians and Nigerian entities with substantial interests in existing Ghanaian banks. The Nigerian banks record major successes in the Banking index in Ghana and are the toast of the Ghanaian banking industry for their professionalism and innovation.

The property market in Ghana witnessed a dizzying boom as many Nigerians invaded Ghana in search of choice homes and business premises. The biggest investor in properties is Mr Olu Luther King, easily the richest Nigerian resident in Ghana. The entertainment industry is controlled by Charterhouse Ghana, largely owned by Mr Iyiola Ayoade and his Ghanaian wife, Theresa. They own GHOne Television and an advertising company, Multiple Concepts. Charterhouse owns the rights to the Ghana Music Awards and Miss Malaika Ghana and it has expanded to Nigeria, Liberia, Cape Verde and others. They recently won the chunky Western Union account in West Africa.

The Oil market in Ghana is extensively controlled by Sahara Energy and Oando. The Dangote Group is making serious incursion through its cement arm. Coscharis is another big Nigerian brand on ground.
But the King of all Nigerian brands is Globacom, owned by the prodigiously gifted business Guru, Dr Mike Adenuga Jnr. GLO has firmly etched its name all over Ghana by touching everyone with its unique network. GLO has done so much to develop the local football league, and majorly fund even the Ghana Supporters Club. GLO has staged some of the A-Class events in Ghana including The GLO-CAF Awards and An Evening with Wole Soyinka and heavily branded the Ovation Red Carol when it migrated to Ghana for a couple of years. Incidentally, Ovation Red Carol is returning to Nigerian shores this year. GLO upgraded the lives of many Ghanaian showbiz personalities.

Ovation was also responsible for bringing many notable personalities to Ghana including the widely acclaimed Nigerian national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jagaban Borgu, who joined Ovation in celebrating its launch in Ghana, alongside the then Senate President Adolpus Wabara and Dr Bode Olajumoke, the famous philanthropist

Once the Presidents had finished exchanging handshakes and pleasantries with the welcoming Party they retired to the Presidential lounge at the airport for tea and coffee before proceeding to the Pedasue Lodge, Aburi, for a bilateral meeting between the two countries and a joint press conference addressed by both leaders.

The journey to Aburi was interesting as it afforded us the opportunity of seeing Ghana’s development firsthand. I travelled with Dr Fayemi and Prince Aderemi and we all marvelled at the fantastic road network, the pristine environment, the efficient but unobtrusive security network and the architecture that had gone into constructing the countryside.

The Pedasue Lodge, Aburi was itself a revelation. Built in the 1960s by Dr Kwame Nkrumah with additions and modifications thereafter, the Lodge is a beauty to behold. The understated splendour of the building and its tasteful décor and furnishing is matched by the exquisiteness of the vista when you take on the breath-taking view of the city and the mountainside from the balcony, as the two Presidents did before they started their meetings.

The bilateral meeting was attended by President Mahama, his National Security Adviser and former Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Alhaji Baba Kamara, who is our dear good friend, the lovely Attorney-General and Minister for Justice of Ghana, Mrs. Marietta Brew Oppong-Appiah, who dined on the same table with us, and the equally charming Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh amongst others. On the Nigerian side were President Buhari accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd), Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Bulus Lolo and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Isma’Ila amongst a few other aides.

Dr Kayode Fayemi, Prince Adedamola Aderemi and I were the only other people allowed into the meeting area although we of course did not attend the meeting itself. President Mahama later came out of the meeting and spent quality time chatting with the Prince of Ile-Ife an I. It was such a great encounter as we reminisced about how I visited his home long before he became Vice President, at the invitation of Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Mr Victor Smith. The President shocked me when he said he reads my column and even mentioned one of the titles he relished so much.

Politics / Photos From The Bomb Blast At IDP Camp In Adamawa State by marked10(m): 8:37am On Sep 13, 2015
As the fight for containing Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria continue to rage, they have devised a means to be making their impression felt as they have targeted the IDP camp this time. What a way to tell everybody that even the victims you rescued from us is not safe let alone to the country at large. About 7 people lost their lives on Friday, September 11, in the bomb blast.

According to reports, Boko Haram has lost large territories since the military relaunched its offensive against the insurgents. The sect has now resorted to suicide bombing as against its earlier tactics of capturing territories.

I don't know how this boko haram made their way into the camp but I think they are very tactical and i will urge the Nigeria army to increase their skills in order to out maneuver this miscreant. Bellow are more photos of the destructive mess the blast left..................

Hiplife and hip-hop artiste, Sarkodie, who has succinctly captured some of Ghana’s biggest topics like the economy, corruption, among others, has downplayed suggestions that he “meddles” in politics through his songs.

Sarkodie, who started off with songs that generally centered on love, life and its hassles, has recently recorded a few songs which mirrored the economic challenges of Ghanaians, bad leadership and corruption. Some of the issues that have been highlighted in his rap lately include economic mismanagement, poverty, unemployment, the depreciation of the cedi, greed, amongst others.

There have been mixed reactions to his new style with many of his fans lauding him for advocating change through music. But those who disagree with him say he is doing the bidding of the opposition party by making the incumbent government unpopular. The one-time BET award winner in an exclusive interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Friday, said he merely composes such songs when he is hit by the happenings around.

“I think it’s been part of me ever since I started. If you listen to my mix tapes it’s about where I am at that point. This is not political if you really listen to the songs and that’s why people can relate. It’s really bad and I don’t even know whether I should be ashamed of it; if you ask me about certain ministers I don’t know them.

All I know is that when something happens and it hits me I will be moved to talk about it so it’s actually not political; it’s just me” the rapper emphasized. In response to a question posed by the Host of the Citi Breakfast Show, Bernard Koku Avle, on how he easily pieces together such words that talks about critical issues, the rapper retorted;

“Its creativity; when you are in the mood it comes. When I think about the first line then I just say it and think about the next one. Most of my songs especially the real rap ones I do it bit by bit. If I think about it; it comes and I will say it and then I will wait for the next funny line. It takes maximum 30 minutes to compose such songs in the studio before the mastering.

Mostly I am touched by what happens around and as an artiste I pay attention to details.”

Sarkodie is launching his new album titled ‘Mary’ this September. This will be his fourth solo effort, following Makye in 2009, Rapperholic in 2012 and Sarkology in 2014. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/i-sing-what-i-feel-like-i-dont-do.html#sthash.hqR1GRTj.dpuf

Romance / Scientist Declares: Best Age To Get Married Is 28 - 32 - See Reasons by marked10(m): 8:26am On Sep 11, 2015
If marriage is in your future, you may be interested to know that your chances of getting divorced could be linked to the age at which you get hitched. And, new stats suggest that saying your vows later in life isn’t necessarily better, reportsYahoo Health.

A few years back, sociologist Nicholas Wolfinger, PhD, of University of Utah noticed a strange new pattern across data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG): Marriage success and the age at which people married were notdirectly correlated (that is, in a straight line that showed increased success with increased marriage age, for example). Instead, there was a small age window in the late 20s and early 30s that touted the lowest divorce rates overall.

After a meta-analysis of over 10,000 NSFG respondents, plus a replication study conducted on his own, Dr. Wolfinger once again saw this remarkable U-shaped correlation, proving that what may have once been a linear relationship — marry as late as possible for the best chance of making it in the long haul — is now a sloping curve of delicate planning. Predictably, newlywed teens and early twentysomethings still run the greatest risk for divorce, but those who marry in their mid-30s and beyond run a similarly high risk. These results suggest that the best time to get married is in the aptly-named “Goldilocks age range” of 28 to 32.

What, exactly, happened between 1995 and 2013 to cause that sudden drop-off of marriage viability in the thirtysomething set? Many factors could be at play, from the sudden onset of hookup culture FOMO to difficulties accommodating a partner’s ways after “years spent flying solo,” as Yahoo suggests.

That 28-32 age range may seem later than ideal to some, but as new Gallup data confirms, people in their 20s and 30s are taking longer to tie the knot than they have in previous decades. They’re often opting for cohabitation without a ring rather than boarding the marriage train - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/scientist-declares-best-age-to-get.html#sthash.PwrOboUZ.dpuf

Politics / EFCC Arrests BGL Boss, Okumagba Over Alleged N28.9bn Fraud - Punch by marked10(m): 7:49am On Sep 11, 2015
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested the Group Managing Director of BGL Plc, a Lagos-based financial services company, Mr. Albert Okumagba, for alleged N28.9bn fraud.

An operative of the commission, who confided in our correspondent, said that those investigating the matter had been grilling the BGL boss for allegedly obtaining money by false pretences.

Though Okumagba on Thursday made a bid for his freedom but he failed to obtain an interim injunction barring the EFCC from arresting him.Justice Mohammed Yunusa refused to grant the ex parte application argued by Okumagba’s counsel, Kolawole Reheem.

He also refused to order the EFCC to appear in court to justify why Okumagba’s prayers should not be granted. Rather than grant Okumagba’s prayers, Justice Yunusa asked that the processes should be served on the respondents in Lagos as prayed in reliefs 5 and 6.

Our correspondents found that Okumagba was picked up by anti-graft operatives on Wednesday in response to a petition by the by the Security and Exchange Commission in May, 2015. An EFCC source said, “The EFCC has arrested Mr. Albert Okumagba, Group Managing Director of BGL Plc, a financial services company, for offences allegedly bordering on obtaining money by false pretences.

“The 51-year-old, who hails from Delta State, was picked up late Wednesday, September 9, 2015, by operatives of the EFCC.

“His arrest was triggered by investigation into a petition submitted to the anti-graft agency by the Security and Exchange Commission in May 2015. “The suspect is alleged to have diverted the sum of N28.9bn being proceeds of private placements of 4.3bn ordinary shares of 50k each at N7.00k per share in 2007.

“The company, whose subsidiaries include BGL Capital, BGL Private Equity, BGL Security and BGL Asset Management, allegedly lured 50 investors from across the country into subscribing to the company’s shares, promising them options of liquidity and exit within two years.”

It was stated that the investors were not able to liquidate their assets contrary to the promise made to them and that an alleged promise that BGL would be listed on the Securities and Exchange Commission two years after the offer in 2008 was not fulfilled

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest and interrogation of the BGL boss. No fewer than 40 petitions were said to have been sent to the SEC against BGL by aggrieved capital market investors in the country as well as the Rivers State Ministry of Finance.

The SEC had earlier announced the suspension of the BGL Group from capital market activities on the strength of the allegations contained in the petitions. But on May 27, 2015, BGL had obtained an interim injunction by Justice Saliu Saidu restraining SEC from suspending it from participating in capital market activities.

Also on July 21, 2015, the firm obtained another interim injunction by Justice Mohammed Idris stopping the plan by SEC to hear the various petitions against it.

Politics / Governors Fayose & Wike Kick Against Death Penalty For Corrupt Govt. Officials by marked10(m): 7:38am On Sep 11, 2015
Governors of Ekiti and Rivers state have kicked against the suggestion that government officials found guilty of stealing the Nations treasury should be sentenced to death. I mean are we in South Korea or Russia? Who is even suggesting is punishment?

The state governors spoke against this during the National rallies held by NLC members to canvass for support for the Buhari anti corruption drive as well as call for death penalty to be enforced on corrupt government officials.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose argued that death penalty which has been enforced in some other countries has not stopped the looting of public funds in those countries.

“In countries where death penalty was introduced, it has not stopped looting. In advanced countries like US, jail sentence is the penalty. What we need is proper moral education to change orientation of the people. Jail sentence is better; it can reform,” he told Punch
In the same vein, the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike who spoke through his media aide, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said that death penalty was practiced in the military regime. He however called for a review of the laws on looting the Nations treasury

“Nigerians have a role to play by deriding looters and not to praise them for their fiscal irresponsibility. There should be a strong punitive measure to discourage looting because of its domino effects. When a treasury is looted, there won’t be money for the provision of necessities such as hospitals, roads, etc. Maybe because it happened in Ghana and the economy improved, the labour organisations want it in Nigeria. But that was a military regime and Jerry Rawlings was a military man. However, the extant laws on looting need serious and urgent review, even if the death penalty is discouraged.”he said

Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who spoke through his information commissioner, Kayode Akinmade, said due process must be followed if Nigerians agree that the death penalty is what should be meted on corrupt officials.
“We are not under a military rule; this is democracy and we have constitution that we follow. If it is put in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, irrespective of whether you are a governor or not, so be it. If that is what Nigerians want, it is okay. Everybody is against corruption, but there is a process of making law. Thank God we have a National Assembly and the state assemblies who are representative of the people.

If such bill could be sent to the national and state assemblies and be passed into law, it must become a law. If the process is followed and it is the wish of Nigerians that looters be killed, why not? Let it become a law. It is a fact that Nigerians are not happy with this corruption tag, which has slowed down our economic development but if we have a law that will bring about capital punishment for the looters, it is okay.”he said
